My advice is to forget about mining. You will almost certainly loose money unless you are committed to buying expensive special purpose hardware. Think about what you have to sell, or what you can do to earn bitcoin. There is a growing community in India who you can trade with. There is even an Indian section on these forums.

I think these new coins are no longer a threat to the community unless they come up with something really good and have a marketing budjet. Those times where a clone can be slapped and posted on the forum are gone. Bad thing it CLUTTERS the alternate crypto section
Why on earth would alt coins be a threat? +1 As mentioned, they are no more than clutter. Basically they are the same as my little pony images. No one asked for them, but they are everywhere.

Perhaps the ingredients are not the coca leaves that produce cocaine? The top one is just called Coca tea. There is no mention of what is in it. P.S. The company in the bottom link takes bitcoin at their website.

Bitcoin is such a different thing. I'm not sure a comparison is valid. In any case, taking down a peer to peer network is much harder. A better metaphorical title might be... "Tigers on verge of extinction, are cockroaches next?"

It's beautiful man. But I just can't handle the cost of the divorce if I buy it.

Welcome fellow peer! We always like people who are here to contribute their talents and ideas.

Using bitcoin, including using qt, should not be a problem. You are not a money transmitter because you are not transmitting money, as FinCen see it. If you operate an exchange that exchanges bitcoin for fiat then you will need to be licensed as a transmitter.

Actually, humanity has arguably known anarchism all over the world for tens of thousands of years - most of its existence. Historians label that period in time prehistory.
That's a good point. The first 90k years of humanity were exclusively free of any authority greater than the tribe. (as far as we know) That era included some of humanities greatest challenges; such as the ice ages, competition with Neanderthals, and legendary adventures with Pleistocene beasts. I doubt we have ever been in more danger, or more free.

I voted dollar. When bitcoin hit parity with the dollar I was blown away. It was the first time I thought that this could really catch on. Even though it is basically an arbitrary number.

Should I buy btc now?
Now is always a good time. But really, don't trust anyone who answers your question. Speculation is what experts call guessing.

If China wants to outlaw BTC, then bully for the west. It will be the future of money and any country that drags it's feet will be falling behind. They have banned much of the content on the internet and it has left them on the wrong side of the technological divide already.
I think mainstream adoption is inevitable now. There will only be haves and have nots going forth.

It was an interesting talk Erik. I wish I had seen more of your presentation but there were so many good topics at the conference that I found myself poping in and out of several at a time. Cheers m8.
