6061  Other / Archival / Re: [banned mixer] - Best Bitcoin Mixer / Tumbler on: November 24, 2022, 02:09:16 PM
The last mixer I saw that claimed to use coinjoin, didn't use coinjoin. In this case, I see many red flags: despite being a brand new website, they claim to be able to coinjoin 100 Bitcoin. Doing that would require several other users to coinjoin the same amount at the same time, which isn't realistic.
@OP: can you sign a message proving ownership of anything close to 100 Bitcoin? My gut feeling tells me the most likely scenario after someone deposits 100 Bitcoin is an exit scam. And it will happen at much lower amounts too.

So it's easier for me, for example, to choose members from the Portuguese tab than other members.
I don't think that's a bad thing. Local board users won't get any votes from the majority of users who don't read that board, so it's good that some votes reach the local boards if the user is the best match for the category (from your perspective).
6063  Other / Meta / Re: ProxyBan of Some New Forum Members. on: November 24, 2022, 08:43:53 AM
For next time, post in this topic:
2. Get someone to vouch for you
I know several personal examples of people who I invited to join bitcointalk forum and they couldn't registered because they got evil fee notification and asked to pay with Bitcoin.
If an established member knows you personally, they can post your username in this topic for whitelisting. Don't PM me, keep it public. I won't accept vouches from for instance a bounty hunter with 1000 Activity and 0 earned Merit.
The link to my topic is also shown to proxybanned users in your screenshots.

Long story short, they actually accused me of introducing a scam forum to them  Grin
I've been accused of being a scammer many times, by people who ask to be whitelisted. It's understandable: I don't know of any other forum that asks new users to pay before they can post.

Brighthustle- 1e351bf8227ff95db52f87c88b655704c79a50f6d9a6b693b34ebb05e85c2c6b
Ynca- 75eca33d80b373411306137ed31cc3f7ad2896d4a8a80345585167786f9fb4fa

Both are whitelisted.
Technically, paying to remove the proxyban doesn't whitelist them. Being whitelisted has more perks (such as less time between posts and higher PM-limits).

If they are serious enough about crypto, they will pay the fees for unban.
I consider myself serious about Bitcoin, and I would never pay to join any forum.

How do you do that? I know some users can but I can not remember how it's done LOL

I feel your pain. Since my son was born I was banned from my own bed, thus I had to stick with the couch
That's not good. Kids can and should sleep in their own bed, and if you don't do that early enough, it'll be hard to change later.
6065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To those who do not care about their privacy. Why? on: November 23, 2022, 05:33:03 PM
What does the tax agency knows about LoyceV?
I don't know. Luckily, they're not very efficient, so chances are that stops them from collecting too much information.

Isn't that a danger to all? Since, employees could effectively use your information for whatever reason they intend to use it. I don't think that's exclusively a cryptocurrency problem.
"This guy has money on a Swiss bank account" makes him less of a target than "this guy has money that can't be frozen".

There probably should be more scrutiny on who has access to the data, but then wouldn't we complain that more logging would be taking place to prevent that?
The logging should be for their own employees, not the rest of the population.

I downloaded but the txt file it is so big, tried some different softwares to open up its not working, cause of the size, still working on it
Large text files aren't meant to be "opened", it's meant to search. If you tell me what balances you're looking for, I'll get you a smaller file. If it has to start with "1b" (case insensitive), I'll leave out the rest.
6067  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 23, 2022, 04:06:31 PM
Isn't it why we have "submit your post" for merits thread all over the forum? You will not win if you begin this challenge.
If anything, Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source shows that not many good posts are unmerited.

Quote
No, the merit system is controlled by the community, it is easier to farm merits, but a user must have been in the forum for at least 2-4 months to farm activity. a newbie with zero knowledge of the forum can register today, make topic and earn 50 merits with his first post, go on and copy-paste votes. (Another disadvantage of using merit point)
There are many times more users with high Activity and no earned Merit, than Newbies who earned 50 Merit on their first post. It's a rare thing. I have enough sMerit to create 48 96 Newbies, give them 50 Merit each, and vote for myself in the "Fail of the Year" category. And if I do that, it'll be blatantly obvious. So I don't think this is likely to be abused in this way.

6068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To those who do not care about their privacy. Why? on: November 23, 2022, 03:50:31 PM
You get to choose whether you want to have enhanced privacy or not.
For most people reading this, it's probably too late already. Since I started with Bitcoin, I kept my real identity away from my online identity. But still, I wish I would have been more thorough, such as using Tor by default. Once your privacy is compromised, you'll never get it back.

Quote
But we have all been pretty much brainwashed to believe having privacy is wrong.
In my experience, exercising your right to privacy in real life is generally considered to be a nuisance. It makes you the exception, while it should be the other way around. Most people are so used to it, they don't even understand how dumb it is to say "I have nothing to hide". If everyone would value their privacy, social media wouldn't exist.

1. Modern culture, everyone really want to flex their wealth in front of anyone, they want to get respect and get a lot friends that also rich.
That's not my experience. In many cases, "flexing their wealth" is more like faking their wealth.

You either have financial privacy and avoid taxes to an extent, or let them know your activity and pay them the respective amount.
That's actually a danger to crypto owners: I am required to report my finances to taxes, but the tax agency doesn't log which of their employees access what data.
6069  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: November 23, 2022, 03:10:23 PM
okay then I'll dilute it with water and see what happens.
Be very careful there! I don't know how you get pure H2SO4 in your house, but adding water releases a lot of energy > heat > splashing.
6070  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 23, 2022, 03:02:43 PM
Am not talking about excluding newbies by using that 50 merit criteria. Am talking about high ranked members who do not have up to that number of merit and as such will be disqualified from the voting process. It is not every member that gets merit when they make posts. And you know that.
If you show me a high ranking member who hasn't earned 50 Merits, I'll show you a member who's either been offline for years, or who's posts aren't worth reading.

If you want to reduce double voting, use activity points, which are calculated based on how long you've been here.
So all the bounty spamming Newbies with countless accounts with 1000 Activity and 0 Merit can influence the voting? Activity is easy to farm, Merit isn't.

Quote
It is possible for a merit source to merit a large number of members nearing the 50 merits mark and then PM them and buy their votes.
That's true. And if it's discovered, they'll get tagged for it.

Quote
A minimum of 30- 50 activity points required to vote will eliminate many things.
Users like Abutaleb628 (882 Activity) or Semar Mesem (1148 Activity) have no business voting.
6071  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: November 23, 2022, 12:16:54 PM
Are you using acid diluted with water?
I'm not using it myself, but that's what I mean.
6072  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: November 23, 2022, 11:39:28 AM
DURING THE TORTURE: I held the flame for more than 1 minute, I believe it was around 700°at the time the picture was taken,  if not more, judging by the colour.
I'd like to see the same test, but with multiple washers tightened together by a bolt. Can you still separate them after they've been red hot and cooled down?

If you want, I can also try a long-lasting acid test. the short contact only creates a removable scult, in the long run it should only favor rust but I can easily do this test and publish the results.
What exactly did you use? Pure H2SO4 isn't very corrosive to steel, try diluted H2SO4 Wink

30 days: 12901 super bump-power out of 13492 total bump-power
365 days: 220802 super bump-power out of 232874 total bump-power
Thanks for the correction. Now it's 95.62% and 94.82% Super bumps, which is more in line with my expectations. It also shows that bumps from posting are very small compared to bumps from clicking the bump button.
6074  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcointalk users owe me BTC on: November 23, 2022, 08:32:48 AM
OK, although I am not convinced you're right.
The act happened in 2018, not 2022.

Quote
If we go on this path, a scammer can easily just go away after the scam just to avoid getting flagged.
It's always been like that, if all you know is someone's Bitcointalk username. If he doesn't come back, there's nothing you can do.

Quote
To make it clear: I'll remove my support now and I'll continue watching this topic.
If OP creates accurate Flags and posts evidence in this topic, I'll Support the new Flags.

It's important to keep the Flag system accurate, so it doesn't end up like the mess the rest of the Trust system is. See:
Creating or supporting a scammer flag is actively affirming a set of pretty clear fact-statements. If someone knowingly supports a flag containing incorrect fact-statements, then that is crystal-clear abuse, and I will seek to have such people removed from DT ASAP.
6075  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcointalk users owe me BTC on: November 23, 2022, 08:19:21 AM
He didn't just remove this Trust exclusion, he wiped his entire Trust list.

Quote
the OP needs to provide more unambiguous details about these accusations, plus I would like to know why he waited until now to announce himself on this matter.
This was his first post this year. My guess is he moved on to another account by now, to get rid of his own negative feedback.

Upon reflection, I'm opposing both flags as they both read in part:
Quote
the act occurred around November 2022
Neither have been online in the timeframe specified.
You're right, this is Flag abuse. I've Opposed both of htem.
@NeuroticFish: can you reconsider your Support for these incorrect and unproven Flags?
6076  Other / Meta / Re: Bumping changes on some boards on: November 22, 2022, 01:31:33 PM
In the past 30 days, there have been 397 super-bumps from 57 distinct users contributing 11355 bump-power. Over the same period, the total bump-power from both mini-bumps and super-bumps was 88127.
That's 12.88% Super bumps.

Quote
In the past 365 days, there have been 8850 super-bumps from 308 distinct users contributing 222971 bump-power. Over the same period, the total bump-power from both mini-bumps and super-bumps was 1041245.
That's 22.41% Super bumps.

Thanks for sharing statistics. The results surprised me, I would have expected the Super bumps to contribute more than the Mini bumps.
6077  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Passphrase of Death (Bounty in BTC) on: November 22, 2022, 12:54:45 PM
Obviously your current wallet is no longer secure and you should move all your coins to a new wallet.

There is no point backing up your seed phrase and passphrase on the same piece of paper, since then the passphrase is adding nothing.
That's not entirely true: this scenario still protects you against a $5 wrench attack: the password gives you plausible deniability if the Trezor also shows (much smaller) funds when used without password. But indeed, the password doesn't protect you against an attacker who finds your backup if it's on the same piece of paper.

If Dave could find your password in a few hours, I'd say your password isn't strong enough.
6078  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Digital Bitcoin Giftcards on: November 22, 2022, 12:46:48 PM
Something like https://www.bitaddress.org interface .... with a gift card design .... and then you can generate those offline.. and then print the gift card and then send the Private key to a mobile phone and the pass phrase with a phone call.  Wink
Take a look at how Mycelium creates a Single Address Account: it gives you an encrypted PDF that you can email (and print), and shows the 16 character password on the screen. That still requires your device to be secure, but your printer can be in public.
6079  Economy / Services / Re: Safe Hardware Wallet Deliveries Via Amazon Lockers on: November 22, 2022, 12:41:24 PM
* I don't know exactly how such a locker works and whether OP cannot pick up the item, tamper it and then "post it" to another locker for the user (in my country the lockers belong to the shipping company and multiple sellers can use it).
I've never used those lockers, but I assume Amazon designed it so that you can pickup your item, after which it's locked for the next customer. So you can't open it again, and I don't think consumers can send packages to those lockers either (that would enable drug dealers to use them). An anonymous one-time use "post office box" would be really cool for anonymous deliveries though!

tamper-proof selling to potential customers (to convince them in order to buy) is something you will probably struggle with.
Ledger doesn't even offer tamper proof packaging:
Quote
Ledger deliberately chooses not to use anti-tamper seals on its packaging. These seals are easy to counterfeit and can, therefore, be misleading.
6080  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 22, 2022, 12:11:31 PM
You must have 50 earned merits to vote
why is it called the community awards when some set of people are not allowed to vote?
I feel the same too because it is discrimination and irrelevant.
Look up the definition of discrimination, it has nothing to do with voting. Not all requirements are discrimination, it simply means some users don't qualify. The reason is pretty obvious: it's easy to create new accounts, so this restriction reduces abuse.

Quote
You want to tell us that only those who have gotten that 50 merits are the real members or most intelligent ones of this forum?
Let me put it this way: the users with dozens of alt-accounts spamming the bounty boards are not the most intelligent and useful users.

maybe I would add "Discovery of the Year" knowing that yahoo62278 and LoyceV are females.  Cheesy
Like I said last year:

Everyone likes to think Foxpup is female but I found him attracted to women LOL.
What if she is attracted to women? Wink
Possible but since I am straight I was thinking straight LOL
