6101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will The Bitcoin Investment Trust affect the price? on: September 26, 2013, 09:33:33 AM
do i understand this correctly: the trust already has purchased those coins and now some deep pockets can invest into bitoin? if they sell the shares quick, they might buy more bitcoins ?

is it possible that this fund was the whale that drove price up in july/august ?

if so, then it will not affect price short term.

if they have to still buy the coins it will push the price to +150 $ gox.
6102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Wish Banks Would Curl Up and Die on: September 25, 2013, 09:14:51 PM
I wish... Banks could give more interest
I wish... Banks could give me more credits
I wish... Banks Would Curl Up and Die

On the interest part I find it funny that I earn 0.02% on a "savings account", on the other hand the bank lends out my money and charges 30%+ on it.

Credit? I think we can all agree that mortgages and credit are only work for rich people Wink

in europe private banks get money from the ecb (central bank) for less than 1% interest. when entire economies/countries/societies like the greek or the portugiese want money the have to beg those private banks and those private banks give it to those countries for 8 or 10%. the ecb will not lend money to countries, only to private banks.
but they say it is a "national debt crisis"
6103  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Preis für einen Bitcoin im Jahr 2017 on: September 25, 2013, 12:57:56 PM
Pro Tag wird es nur noch 3.600 geben. Die Halbierung erfolgt alle 210.000 Blocks bzw. ca. alle 4 Jahre.

pro tag gibt es heute 3600

ab 2015/2016 nur noch 1800

6104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 25, 2013, 12:53:25 PM

Set the "lower difficulty increase / jump" to more realistic 4% or even 5%.

i´d rather put in 250 or even 300 mio diff to start with and only +15% change after this. after knc has shipped it will be unlikely that 30 % increases will happen. who will ship this much ?

6107  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL - how long before the next bubble to 1000$ and beyond? on: September 24, 2013, 08:31:09 PM
i'll take a swing:

the rest of 2013 and 2014 will be much like 2012 (bitcoin only went up 186% in 2012).. mostly slow and steady increases.  some time around 2015/2016 we will see another parabolic move which will take us >$1000 and most likely > the price of gold per oz.  at that point the media headlines will be insane.  "bitcoin now more valuable than gold" and you'll have people debating bitcoin vs gold.  a rapper will rap about bitcoin/SR.  the bubble will probably crash to less than the price of gold, and consolidate either around $1000 or the price of gold per oz.

over the next 2-3 years:
- bitcoin economy continues growth from influx of VCs + entrepreneurs
- more exchanges and decentralized exchanges: Buttercoin, Coinsigner, Bex.io, Ripple, RoboCoin ( bitcoin ATM) all try to solve exchange problems
- killer apps: could get integrated into browsers
- could see bitcoin start to get used more on phones like Mpesa in Kenya
- larger companies start to use bitcoin to reduce costs or just accept bitcoin as payment
- another Cyprus
- in 2016 the block reward halves again
- Winklevoss ETF could get approved and hedge funds start buying in as a way to legally invest in System D
- bitcoin will actually be increasingly used for remittances (still needs a lot of work to help the non tech savvy in 3rd world countries)
- people bet on the 2016 election with bitcoin, especially since intrade is down and that was the go-to election betting spot (hopefully Predictious can gain some traction)
- Walter White discovers SR and solves his distribution problems

this storm is brewing, cant wait to watch it play out Smiley

nice one, i will read it every night to dream better...

you forgot:
-china: 100 mio chinese middle class will wake up for btc
(take milk as a blueprint: the milk and butter prices in germany are rising because of the evergrowing chinese appetite for milk.  Cheesy)

Cheesy

edit: pfff.... ok, nur echte namen, kein wunder, dass da keiner was reinschreibt.
6109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 24, 2013, 12:10:01 PM
Since beginning KNC were straight company. I can understand why they have started to take preorders. But why to take preorders to november delivery since that is also an risk for buyers and miner price is based on diff change prediction.
KNC was honest and was aware of it, they were aginst preorder model but it was needed to make the asic miners in the first place. Now when they made it why to continue to have preorders? Why just do not built x stock unit and sell them at x price with imidate shipping? Risk is again on their customers. I know that they can refund it at any time but why KNC has to have locked our money?
What has changed since several months ago? Nothing, preorder model are still in the full bloom!

probably because of the competitors. if you had a company selling such devices and see the pre-order orgies happening with competition you may ask yourself: do i want to watch this millions going to the competition or do i want to make my product "available" now to get a share of the pie ?
6110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 24, 2013, 07:34:42 AM
Sorry for being slow but to my knowledge btct is closing down? Pardon me if I miss something obvious but English is not my native language

Yup.

All assets have to migrate to direct or to another exchange.

So you're forecasting a flow of money exiting from btct and then an increase in btc/usd ratio. Am i right?

Basically across the board the share prices dropped, not because of any fundamental change with the underlying asset, but rather because people were willing to sell for a loss to take their btc off of the exchange.  In other words, share prices are at a discount right now.

Now that coinbase.com has a 10btc/day limit on instant transactions I'm unable to quickly move fiat into bitcoin, thus the auction.

Thanks for being so kind to provide a detailed explanation. Now it's crystal clear.
What a pity that coinbase enforce such a ridiculously low transfer limit

gox taking forever to cash out, coinabase with a limit of 10 (!) btc a day...
what are those exchanges doing to us ?
6111  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will we get a network hashrate of 1 petahash/s? on: September 24, 2013, 07:26:23 AM
ROI estimations are way too random!
in a 500TH network i expect BTC to be 100-200$.
Thus it should be easier to buy BTC now than purchase ASICs Wink

good call !

6116  Economy / Speculation / Re: creating demand for bitcoin on: September 23, 2013, 09:07:36 PM

this poll is put into the speculation subforum since major btc rises will only occur when bitcoin becomes more mainstream.

How mainstream is SWIFT, how many people do you know who control SWIFT accounts?

i put that sentence there to not have the poll removed by the mod.
6117  Economy / Speculation / Re: creating demand for bitcoin on: September 23, 2013, 08:27:41 PM

nice. ty.
6118  Economy / Speculation / Re: creating demand for bitcoin on: September 23, 2013, 08:24:10 PM
congratulation!

You persuaded your friends to make a risky investment with the intention to make your investment grow. And now you want to make everyone here also persuade their friends?

Do you know how to call any investment which can only grow if you persuade more people to join? Naaa ... you know it. Its the P-word.

I am sorry to say so, cause I have to show a lack of politeness, but if there have been involved in Bitcoin just greedy and thoughtless people like you show in this post to be it had never ever risen. And it will never ever rise for real, but make bubbles and bubbles and bubbles, if you find enough stupid people following you.

Sorry for this. You are enthusiastic about the technology, like me, so don't do all you can do to transform this fantastic thing into a greed-driven Ponzi.

the persons are all adults and i made it very very clear that this is very high risk and that they only should use funds they wouldn´t mind losing.
so what you are saying is that it is ok to love the technology but it is not ok to invest in it or tell others that there is this risky investment? you better leave the hard part to others? what good is a beautiful technology no one uses ? what are you doing to get others involved ?

we need more people getting involved into bitcoin. we all know this, but what do we do for it ?

so what have you achieved so far in terms of people that you made investing into btc ? since it is not proofable i hope for genuine answers and i will give you my figures:

person 1) he bought btc for approx 2 k € and put another 3 k € into mining
person 2) she invested 5 k € into btc and another 5 k € into mining
person 3) he invested 5 k € into mining
person 4) he invested 2.5 k € into btc, 2.5 k € into mining
person 5) he invested 5 k $ into btc
person 6) he invested 2.5 k € into btc and 2.5 k € into mining

so far i have helped people to invest the sum of 11.5 k € + 5 k $ = 20 000,- $ into bitcoin.

those are investments i know for sure. i try to talk about the beauty of this new technology with anyone i can. therefore, it is possible that there were more people getting involved without my knowledge.

this poll is put into the speculation subforum since major btc rises will only occur when bitcoin becomes more mainstream.
