As I said before the brand Dash is like an empty container that we will fill with the ideals of the product, it is more flexible, so we can take it in the direction we choose too.

This is a good property of the name as it is not explicit like Darkcoin, in time Dash will acquire its own meaning, a meaning that better reflects the vision we are building.

At this point in time is hard to see that, precisely because it is a blank canvas it does not suggest any particular meaning, just like Google or Nike would not really be anything without the products and marketing behind them. There is no need to name a shoe company Darkshoe or Bitshoe, Adidas is just fine, brands reside in the mind of people and they need to be built, a name is not enough, we will do well with Dash.

It is a monosyllable and we can use the full name as the ticker: DASH

On a completely different theme, what about LATTICE.

I was thinking about the multi-dimensionality aspect and trying to get away from "wallets-vs-masternodes" and more towards the fact that they are tightly integrated (a masternode is a wallet and vica versa).

Lattice.

when i read the post about rebranding i was kinda hoping this would be an very early 1st of april foolsday

So we are going for a third rebranding in what ? less then 16 months ? i sure hope you guys know what you are doing and
have really thought this through because with a rebranding you will have so much lost already (name recognition for a start)
and its very unsure you achieve what your hoping to achieve with the name Dash. And to be honest i'm not getting any vibe
from the name Dash so i'm not too thrilled about that part either.

Darkcoin is definitively a bad name for mass adoption + rebranding won't cause any lost, except some stupid guys. Just... why sell ? Your argument about name recognition... Everyone here doesn't buy darkcoin because it have dark in name... Only because work and feature. we doesn't have all 14 year old mind  here with all respect...

wtf, are you really accusing me of having a 14 year old mind when i'm just expressing my opinion about this topic in my bloody own forum ?

Like I said, with all respect du,how can you think it will give lost ? Just... how ? Any logic reason ? You have an Mind of pump n' dump shitty coin. Dark is something different

thats just great, so now i have a pump and dump mind .. anything else you feel like sharing about me on this forum ? You seem to know me so well

Sounds like a plan, i'll be back to remind everyone what a disgrace this coin is. Stop trying to scam the newcomers into buying this garbage. Shame on all of you

In all seriousness though, i think we can all agree on 2 things:

Darkcoin is instamined and centralized.

Now, the question is whether the instamine was due to fraud or incompetence. Any real opinions or you just going to keep cheerleading and calling me a troll?

Theres over 4300 pages to this thread. You think this is the first time some idiot's come here and made a scene?

Have a good day.  Grin

All i see is a bunch of cheerleaders on their knees, 'servicing' their cult leader criminal Evan Duffield (fake name, obviously)

i'm gonna do both :

Was Darkcoin Instamined?

~2mn coins were issued in the first 48 hours due to problems with the difficulty readjustment. That represents approximately 10-15% of the total money supply that will ever be issued.

The majority of these coins were distributed through the market in the following weeks and months at very low price levels* (0.0000x BTC per DRK to 0.000x BTC per DRK) and a lot of them were also absorbed in the April/May 2014 price increase.

i'm starting to think AdamWhite could actually be an anti-troll, hired by someone to pose as a troll but by making a lot of dumb arguments
his actual goal is to strengthen that specific coin and its community. If he is i'm rather impressed, he is soooo believeable as troll ....

AdamWhite, i love you dude ... keep it going pleaseeee

Not only is Evan going to prison, anyone operating a masternode is too. It's a brave new world, too bad you idiots misplaced your trust in the shittiest of shitcoins (drk)

definetely a young fool, poor poor kid .. so lost in this world already

Guys we shouldn't be fighting, we should all be united against the criminal Evan Duffield scammer

trust me, we are all very united against trolls like you. Must be painfull that not one of your posts is getting you anywhere in here,
such a waste of energy and time and to make things worse you keep bumping this thread up in the altcoin section which is very countereffective
for your goal as it just draws more attention to this thread... yr actually strenghtning this most viewed thread in the altcoin section.

Conclusion : Troll efficiency very very low

Let's say you roll out an update and enforcement is off.  The next day, god forbid, you get hit by a bus before you turn enforcement on.  What then?
We saw what bad actor pools do when enforcement is not on.  It's not variance as stonehedge alludes; it is theft.
The beauty of bitcoin is it doesn't need a single person to flip a switch for it to work properly.  At present, Darkcoin does.
That's a risk to the entire masternode system and as such, a risk to the entire Darkcoin network.  And a potentially catastrophic one at that.

There's a reference node key in the software. If I get hit by a bus, someone just needs to change the key and have everyone update. What would that take, like six hours?

So basically your coin is not even decentralized.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Wow this coin is absolute garbage, and the community is 95% cheerleaders Grin

you seem lost .. why are you here again? Pls stop commenting on things you clearly dont understand or even begin to understand and please crawl back into the hole
you came from, i'm sure they all miss you there by now. oh, and stop drewling over our cheerleaders !!

Forum member coins101 did a blockchain analysis of Darkcoins distribution as of September 2014:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=778616.0

Will the initial distribution affect Darkcoin in the future?

It can bring criticism but other than that, no, as Darkcoin has solid fundamentals which are the basis for its continuous ascent despite FUD and accusations.

The creator of the coin proposed to fix the initial distribution issue by airdroping new coins in order to address criticism and resolve the issue once and for all. The community disagreed and voted down this proposal with most arguing that the distribution is relatively OK by now (April 2014) and that the airdrop would create more problems than it would solve.

Even if there were doubts for the distribution, the late April-May “pump” solved the distribution problem for good, through massive buys that “chewed” enormous waves of “dumping” from prior holders of cheaply acquired coins.

The quick monetary expansion at the start, and the slower rate of expansion later on, actually had a very positive, yet unintended side-effect: It allowed Darkcoin to achieve a very low inflation rate. If every coin was mined at a consistent rate, the rate of issuing new coins would debase the value of existing coins significantly more. Compared to other PoW coins that started around the same period, Darkcoin has the lowest inflation. This allowed it to maintain and increase value when other coins were crashing under the weight of their insatiable demand for new BTCs (that were needed to buy their daily production).

The problem of high inflation in new coins, which tends to suppress their price as supply rises, has now created a new trend where some of the newer coins which are designed, either use a short mining period and Proof of Stake or continue with PoW but with a diminishing mining reward after a few days/weeks/month to reduce the problem of inflation.

Guess its my fault in the end for keep reading these threads but I'm really sick of this scam, its pretty clear how its a scam (instamined) and the anonymity doest work and was just put together to create hype and scam more people. DRK = another big scam in the top 20 coins.

and the discussion quality goes lower and lower.
