6181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Air conditioner healthy for GPU rigs? on: March 31, 2022, 05:25:58 PM
There was a time when ASICs were new and Bitcoin mining profitability was off the charts, where you could setup air conditioning units to keep your miners cool.  I remember I had one of the early ASICs and it was producing a TON of Bitcoin, but was so hot (even at room temperature) that it was constantly throttling.  I had to setup a dedicated air conditioning unit in order to get it mining full speed, which made a massive difference in the amount of BTC it was producing.  Nowadays this isn't a smart setup though.  As others have stated the cost of running the AC unit would destroy any chance at turning a profit.  Therefore you need to focus on removing heat, not cooling the miners.  Think of them like a fire, you wouldn't point an air conditioner at a fire to keep it cool, you would vent the heat away from where you are.
6182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Satoshi was dumb on: March 31, 2022, 05:14:06 PM
Even a genius like Satoshi miscalculated the stupidity, ignorance and greed of the average person

I don't think this is true at all.  Bitcoin is actually based on greed and without could not function.  Some might call it Game Theory which powers the beauty of Bitcoin's security model.  Miners are counted on to act in the most greedy way possible (using the most high value transactions from the mempool and as many as they can fit in a block) in order to earn rewards for their effort in security the blockchain.  Without the greed of miners, Bitcoin's security model would be severely flawed.  So while you say satoshi miscalculated the greed of the average person, I would say that he not only did not do that, he counted on their greed surpassing attempts by others to bring the transaction processing to a halt.

No chance if they can't bring a healthy Davis in case they'll be able to win the play-in tournament.

Inconsistent players that surround LeBron he can't lift the team up alone, whatever he will do if there's no good help
they will still suffer from being beaten by any team who have a solid teamwork.

If they'll be eliminated earlier, the management should re-assess from the coaching to staff to the players.

Can't agree more!
Even with Davis, I guess the Lakers would still struggle "IF" they're lucky to take the 8th spot and go against the Suns.

I'm even surprised Frank has not been fired yet after messing around with the rotation many times. Playing small ball and not even an effective strategy once. I mean, how do you let Howard set when he can grab 2 digits rebs and points every game? and he's letting LeBron do all the work and fill the center position.

Well, I guess Shaq was making a wild prediction for the Lakers vs Suns result lol.

I don't think the Suns match up well against the Lakers.  If I were them, I'd be hoping that the Spurs end up in that play-in tournament.  Nobody wants to come across LeBron and AD in the playoffs...

Every game is becoming more and more important as the Lakers are now back in the play-in with the Spurs loss last night.  The Lakers are playing the Jazz tonight, and you can bet they'll be bringing their A game as they have the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA.  You can watch the game on TNT (like I will be) and it's the second of a doubleheader featuring the Bucks and Nets in the first game.  A good night for basketball...  I hope LeBron is back.
6184  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Biden proposes new minimum tax on billionaires, unrealized gains on: March 31, 2022, 05:07:04 PM
I don't think the billionaires will be happy about this and for sure as I write this they are moving their assets to tax-free countries or contacting tax officials to manipulate their financial statements.

It starts with billionaires...  It won't be long before we're all subject to this insanity.  At this point the government is openly stealing from people.  Imagine setting off a massive inflation wave and then taxing unrealized gains...  This is the government saying that they're going to get your money.  It doesn't matter what you do.  Invest to try and keep up with inflation, taxes on unrealized gains will take you down.  Save to try and keep a good lifestyle, inflation will eat your savings alive.  I don't know if the government is run by complete idiots, if they're actively trying to bankrupt everyone to force a socialist society on us, or if they're just so greedy they want to take every penny they can any way possible to fun their appetite for government spending.  Most likely it's a combination of the three.

With Paul George making his comeback tonight against the Jazz you have to wonder how they'll be going into the playoffs.  Anybody have any idea when Kawhi Leonard will return?  With them having such a low seed, they could be a real menace to the #3 seed if they get Kawhi back.  You'll be able to watch Paul George's return tonight on TNT, as the Clippers have the second game in a doubleheader tonight.  First up is the Lakers vs the Mavericks, which should be a win for the Mavericks as James is listed as doubtful for the game.  A shame, as I always love watching him match up with Luka Doncic.  They both seem to take it to another level when going head to head.

As far as I know, the Los Angeles Clippers already gave up with the idea that Kawhi Leonard will be available this season up to the playoffs. Although the door is not closed, looks like the team already concluded the situation about Kawhi not giving expectations to their fans to avoid disappointment.

But even with Kawhi and George, I don't think the Clippers will still be the same as before when they are one of the best and most competitive teams in the Western Conference. Currently, the situation in the West is so tough that we can't predict easily who will win in the end.

Even with Kawhai and PG the chance still slim for the Clippers, there are many good teams now from both the East and the West.

Though the fighting or competing chance is more better with these two superstars, more offensive and defensive options to go and the

leadership to tower the team would likely be with one of these two star players. Currently, they are down 16 points in this early first quarter.

Still early and anything can happen, PG scoreless in his debut, 3 more quarters to go.

Ya, a rough start for PG13 but he's finding his groove.  Up to 31 points now with a couple of minutes to go and he's brought his team back to within 3 points.  Great game!  Donovan Mitchell is trying to spoil his return with a big night of his own, but you can't deny it's been fun to watch these two superstars go at it.

The big news for the night is that the Lakers lost again, even with big nights from Monk and Westbrook.  This now officially knocks them out of the play-in tournament and as of right now the Lakers are not in the running for the playoffs...  I don't think anybody saw this coming when they assembled their Big 3 this offseason.

I thought Jordan Poole can manage ro compensate Curry and Klay absence

Well, that was certainly not the right thought.  Curry and Klay are the Warriors, without the two of them they aren't even a playoff team.  Sure, Wiggins and Green might be able to carry them to a win here and there, but it's no secret that Curry carries the franchise and with Klay out there to give him spacing it's nearly impossible to defeat the Warriors on the offensive end of the floor.  Then you have Wiggins and Green anchoring the defense while Klay keeps the perimeter locked down...  That's why they're a championship team.  So no, Jordan Poole can't compensate for Curry and Klay being off the court and it really showed.
6189  Other / Off-topic / Re: Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor on: March 29, 2022, 09:26:11 PM
I'm a bit surprised when I was saw this thread that there is a possibility that McGregor and Jake Paul will fight soon as "the notorious" is eyeing to get a fight soon, so I dig up a little search in the internet about this two and I found this:

Quote
Paul, who has amassed a professional boxing record of 5-0, has long angled for a fight with McGregor and went on to claim he would knock him out.

"I would KO Conor in boxing or MMA. Right hand of God," he said.
Link: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/conor-mcgregor-responds-jake-pauls-26449571

Did literally Jake Paul mean it? That's just a pure suicide especially if the fight will happen in the octagon. Lol Grin

Why are you so sure of McGregor's victory in the octagon? Paul is heavier by about 15 kilograms, so it is not known whose advantage will increase if the fight takes place there. Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor due to the greater mass (he record cut weight for weighing and then record gained it before the fight) and everyone saw what an advantage he had. And if I understand correctly, it was about 5-6 kilograms and not about 15.

There's an awful lot of skill involved in MMA.  I don't think boxing translates to MMA any better than MMA translates to boxing.  Sure, they're big strong men who can fight in both sports, but they're different sports.  That's why a youtuber is able to knock out professional fighters.  That and Jake chooses opponents who have suffered catastrophic defeats and are well beyond their prime as a result.  McGregor might be out of his prime, but he's still a good fighter.  Jake would have next to no chance in an MMA fight with him.  I think boxing would make a much better fight for them considering McGregor did train for the Mayweather fight, so he wouldn't be as unprepared as Jake's other opponents.
6190  Economy / Services / Re: Hiring a Video Editor! 1000$+ month on: March 29, 2022, 09:18:33 PM
You might have better luck if you move this thread into the services section instead of here in Goods where users are typically offering physical items in exchange for Bitcoin.

Services
Buying/selling services.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

You can click the link in the lower left of the screen and move to the appropriate section.  Good luck finding your editor.  $1,000 a month is a good chunk of change on these forums and I'm sure there will be plenty of interest.
6191  Economy / Goods / Re: [FREE RAFFLE] Pokémon Cards on: March 29, 2022, 09:14:30 PM
I'm surprised it has taken this long to get a single entry into a free raffle, but what can I expect with the mean age of 68 around here?

...

Thank you for grabbing a slot and breathing some life into my raffle, slot "8" is yours!

I think that's because you put it in the "Goods" section instead of Collectibles.  If you hit the move link in the lower left of the screen you could slap it in collectibles and it'll fill up in no time.  For whatever reason this section isn't quite as popular.  There's a chance people will complain that it isn't a Bitcoin collectible saying it should be in the goods section, but it'll probably fill up before that complaint gets it moved back.   Cheesy

Thank you for the raffle and the free spot as well as the Pokémon knowledge.  I guess I won't be making a YouTube video if I win, but I'll still be excited.  Good luck to all the future entrants.
6192  Economy / Goods / Re: [FREE RAFFLE] Pokémon Cards on: March 29, 2022, 07:49:25 PM
I'll take #8.  Thanks for putting on this raffle.  I've never owned any Pokémon products before, so this would be a bit of an interesting win for me.  I would probably end up regifting it to someone who appreciated them a little more, but it would be a fun win anyway.  I don't have enough information on the subject to know the difference between these packs and the packs that Logan Paul opens on youtube and sells for millions, so any information you want to share on Pokémon or why some of these cards are so valuable would be a learning experience for me.  Good luck with your raffle and I look forward to winning (or losing with the grace of a women's figure skater).
6193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin Fails ? on: March 29, 2022, 07:46:03 PM
Everything fails...  It is a matter of when, not if.  I think Bitcoin has some gas left in the tank before it's demise.  Maybe as much as a couple decades.  It won't last forever though.  Just like the dollar or any other currency that came before it.  There's a chance we'll all be dead before that demise, so it probably doesn't matter much what our opinions are on the subject.  I would hesitate to time lock coins for a hundred years to secure your family a spot amongst the wealthiest.  A lot can change over time.  I'm sure Bitcoin isn't the end all for currency advancement, but for now it's the best looking horse at the show.
6194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Long Term Holders - When Do You Plan To Cash Out? on: March 29, 2022, 07:43:06 PM
Personally, I'd like to see obvious signs of a top.  A huge price increase with a massive volume spike while everyone is saying Bitcoin is the world's savior and we should all sell all our possessions to buy it.  That's what the cash out period looks like to me.  So long as there are still lots of people saying Bitcoin is a scam and won't be adopted, there is still room to run up.  It's important to remember that the top will be when Bitcoin's future looks the brightest.  Just like a few months ago when Michael Saylor was saying that Bitcoin would go up forever right before it lost more than half of it's market cap, it's the "irrational exuberance" that will signal the top.  Shout out Greenspan for those of you old enough to remember that quote.
6195  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 29, 2022, 07:39:40 PM
It looks like Michael Saylor may have had some contribution in this.
This news tells that he got extra $205M for buying Bitcoin, but I would not be surprised if he has been buying already.

Ya, this shows he's willing to bet the house to keep the pump going.  I have to wonder if he's running out of steam though.  Getting a loan against your Bitcoin to buy more Bitcoin feels a bit like squeezing the last little bit you can out of your collateral.  I assume he's unable to do any more bond offerings or raise any more funds from outside investors to go this route.  If that is the case, the market is lucky that Do Kwon is picking up the slack right now.  At the rate he's purchasing (about 125 million per day) it will be a while before he's amassed 10 billion worth of Bitcoin.  I assume that means the next few weeks are going to be good ones for Bitcoiners, but I do worry a bit about the mtgox coins hitting the market afterward.  With a little luck maybe these two events will overlap and cancel each other out a bit rather than cause massive volatility, but we'll see.  Certainly other billionaires are starting to see the writing on the wall and won't be left behind on these types of purchases.

Did you see all the hunter Biden Ukraine bio lab shit that just came out?

Pretty deep rabbit hole(s) all this Biden Ukraine shit..

Fishy..

Things that make you wonder...  It's pretty obvious at this point that the Biden's are paid puppets for Ukraine.  Not only that, but their family has some pretty shady investments where they shouldn't be.  The media silence on this matter goes to show you that liberals really have their heads in the sand and are willing to say and do anything to justify their terrible political decisions.  If you are a liberal that can't admit Biden was a bad choice by now, what would make you admit it?  WWIII?  Inflation topping 10%?  $10/gallon gasoline?  More scandals with his son being paid astronomical sums of money while our military is used to safeguard his cash cows?  I'm just curious...  If Fed chairman were quitting because Trump wasn't following their guidance and inflation hit double digits, I could only imagine the cries of how he was destroying our country.  If you aren't pissed about Biden's administration running this country into the ground yet, liberal or conservative, you're the problem.
6197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / mtgox issuing free NFTs to users... on: March 29, 2022, 06:44:34 PM
https://www.mtgoxnft.net/

https://cointelegraph.com/news/mark-karpeles-announces-commemorative-nft-drop-for-mt-gox-users

It appears Mark Karpeles has decided to try and give some value back to those who were stolen from by mtgox in the form of issuing NFTs.  The NFTs contain information about your account such as: Bitcoin Balance MtGox, Fiat Balance MtGox, MtGox Trade Volume, MtGox UserID, & MtGox Registration (if you opt to have this information included).

It's a bit of an insult to be given a memento of such a traumatic event, but I can see that Mark believes it's a way to give back a little value to the OGs in the crypto space.  Personally, I am claiming mine and will see what happens.  I doubt it will make a dent in what was taken, but at least it's a step towards getting SOMETHING after all of these years.  Maybe it will turn into a DAO or some people will do some airdrops to the crypto OGs that hold these NFTs...  Remains to be seen.
6198  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 29, 2022, 08:53:37 AM
That is a crazy amount of Bitcoin to publicly state you’re going to buy. Running the numbers, we should see a price over $55K when all is said and done. If he also sparks buying from other billionaires then we could have another fomo situation on our hands. Bitcoin is finding its way into more and more investment portfolios these days. It feels like the best case scenario has been playing out lately. Sometimes it’s hard to believe this is happening. I don’t think this will be the last multi-billion dollar buy we see this year, but it does seem to be the one that turned the sentiment.

I still can’t believe how long this has been going on. Absolutely terrible that civilians are dying as a result of Russia’s actions. I’m reading reports that there are cities where the dead aren’t even being cleaned up. They’re just littering the streets. Now you’re hearing about Ukrainian soldiers shooting captive Russian soldiers in the kneecaps. It’s just a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. It’s dumbfounding how this type of conflict can exist today. Russia’s claims appear a bit paranoid and they’re coming off a bit like the United States as we invaded Iraq for imaginary weapons.

Stake.com

duh...

Seriously though, if you can't trust an operation that can afford to get one of the biggest pop culture celebrities behind them, who can you trust?  Surely Drake's billion dollar empire wouldn't have been put at risk of lawsuits and brand name destruction by promoting a scam site, and I'm certain he has teams of people doing their due diligence to make sure that everything is legitimate.  For me, that does a lot to ease my mind that my funds would disappear once deposited, or that the casino was up to shady activity...  There's my $0.02 on the matter...
