Last ~4 hours we've been in a tight range.

Interesting.....

Anything less than a 50% flash crash is boring.  Wink Cheesy Cheesy

Bitcoin needs more than wall street to soar to new irrational heights. It needs a Stratton Oakmont.

Is there anybody in this mighty thread who has used bitcoin for actually purchasing something with it besides FIAT ?

Bought some gigs at Fiverr. But who cares? I'm in it for the store of value to cash out at a later time for more fiat.

Fixed.

So bitbulls believe that they will become even wealthier with support from wallstreet traders?

I'll say it again, and probably every day until Adam agrees, we will remain in hibernation until total bid sum begins to steadily increase.

Overstock CEO bought in the 800s and now is getting desperate  Grin Grin Grin

Is that a guess or did he admit to it somewhere?

No lines are needed. We're in...

CCMF mode!

 Grin Grin Grin

Disagree. Foolish to attempt pumps while total bid sum is decreasing. We'll erase all progress by next Monday.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or Finra, on Tuesday issued an investor alert on bitcoin, saying digital currencies are "more than a bit risky." The agency said the alert was intended to caution investors about the risks inherent in buying and using digital currencies like bitcoin. That includes risks from speculative trading and potential fraud related to bitcoin companies, the alert said. The move came after the collapse of the bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox in late February, which filed for bankruptcy in Japan and the U.S. said it lost customers' bitcoins. "Digital currency such as bitcoin is not legal tender," the Finra alert said, which also warned about the lack of safeguards in place for consumers, the irreversibility of bitcoin transactions, and its association with illegal activities.

Thx FINRA. We were all unaware that bitcoin is a speculative investment.

Jorge:
http://www.coindesk.com/huobi-ceo-addresses-fake-trading-volume-rumours/

'When I asked him to estimate how much the lack of fees might distort the trading volume, he said that he could easily see a “5-times increase” in trades because high-frequency traders can make profits off of much narrower spreads.

Instead of just volume, Li believes that customers should evaluate exchanges based on their liquidity, depth, and the size of the company. At least these are the metrics that he is measuring Huobi against competitors'

How is Huobi making money? The article states:

Quote
Basically, Li thinks that a platform will need to make its revenues from value-added services rather than trading, which he sees as a basic service and a commodity that should be free for consumers.

What services are they selling? Let me guess, premium memberships that include a pause button to execute your trades before non-premium members?

I'm starting to think this isn't a repeat of 2013 and we are going for a triple bottom.

This is like nothing we have seen before.

triple bottom seems unlikely.

400 feels pretty far down now not like when we were all freaking out about mtgox possible insolvency, or the chain bitcoin ban days after the bubble had official popped.

pretty sure it goes up from here.

did you hear ebay will soon have a BTC/PPUSD conversion machine?   Wink

I stand side by side with my good friend Adam. Double top; double bull trap, double bottom. I´m about to post trains in 6-10 days Wink

You left out steadily declining bid sum. Without a Gox style halt on fiat withdrawals, we are going down.

Dumping based on any news, or insider trading as usual?
632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2014, 02:20:39 AM
I am quite tempted to open a bitcoin exchange.   Wink

i'll code the back end in C++

the server will handle 21million trades per second.

I expect that "block withdrawals" and "block deposits"  functions are well separated in the code.  Otherwise it is not interesting.  Wink

Have adam code DDOS machines. You'll need those at some point, trust me.
633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2014, 02:07:54 AM
Jorge did you buy a bitcoin yet?

No, but I am quite tempted to open a bitcoin exchange.   Wink

Do zero trade fees for a year. Then restrict fiat withdrawals (blame it on banks) and begin charging outrageously high fees. Finally, cash out and retire.

Easy money.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Believe to be a silk road address. Now there is speculation (wishful thinking) that Gox owns it and is preparing to distribute formerly lost funds.

Of course the trades are real but the volume is manufactured. The more interesting question is how many traders?
637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 09, 2014, 02:28:33 AM
Classic dead cat bounce showing on the 1hr. Last Monday's pennant isn't looking too successful now.

Next Monday, 2bit is going to release info on foundation members. $180 by Friday, Adam?

^ Brother confirms Dorian suffered a stroke and has memory issues. That would explain his speech problems and why he might not have a clear memory of his involvement with bitcoin.

So Dorian has memory issues and suffered a stroke.... interesting...
