621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: November 30, 2023, 01:49:34 PM
There's really no way to stop bitcoin, because if the government could do that, I think they would have done it a long time ago instead of trying to ban people from using bitcoin.

True. There is no reason for the government to ban it if they can shut it down. Bitcoin has been the direct opposition of banks since its first appearance. The government tried to control it. They failed and invented centralized exchanges where people would submit their identity to do transactions. Maximum exchanges collect KYC just because of law enforcement.

Bitcoin has been around for 15 years and is worth tens of thousands of dollars, it's funny that in these days there are people still thinking about this scenario.

It's because they don't know about it. They don't know how Bitcoin works!
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: November 30, 2023, 08:33:32 AM
I am just wondering, what will happen if Bitcoin shutdown? Will the market crash? How about the effect of this to altcoins? Can government shutdown Bitcoin? I have a lot of question about this matter, because who knows, right? Also, how about hackers shutdown Bitcoin? What are your thought here? Let's discuss this.

Don't you think several governments tried to stop Bitcoin somehow? I believe a lot of hackers, too. But would you believe governments or some hackers would be able to shutdown almost 50K computers running nodes? The number of online nodes is around 17K at this moment. There are a lot of backups, too.

I do not want to believe that any hacker or a group of hackers would be able to find this system to shutdown that many nodes. If you talk about governments, the nodes are from different regions. It's impossible for a single government to find all those nodes all over the world. So, forget it and move on.
623  Other / Archival / Re: Wearing Bitcoin Clothing in Public on: November 30, 2023, 08:25:24 AM
Has anyone ever tried wearing a Bitcoin clothing in public? I wore mine to an event earlier this week and noticed that most of the young age people were looking at it. One person even asked me if I owned a Bitcoin(which I've answered him ). It just popped into my mind that is it making myself vulnerable to bad people? We are aware that we should keep quiet if we own Bitcoin because of the risk that someone will hurt us or target us so that they could get our Bitcoin.

It depends on you. You may wear it, and when someone asks about it, you can answer that you bought it from a random shop because you liked the design, and that's it. I have bought many t-shirts with several cartoons and other movie posters, but that does not mean I know all of them and I have watched those movies or cartoons. It exclusively depends on you.

But if you live in a country where Bitcoin is banned, then you should be careful about it. I would recommend not to wear it to avoid any possible issues. People might report police saying this guy own Bitcoin without even knowing you.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Best wallet for Android? on: November 30, 2023, 08:13:53 AM
That sucks. Is it illegal as in owning anything will get you in jail, or using it for payment is not allowed but you can still own it?

Since crypto is illegal here, owning anything related to crypto means you are a crypto user and are likely to get arrested for further investigation. No shops in Bangladesh sell any crypto-related gadgets. Computer users could buy GPUs to mine ETH (back then) because they were parts for computers, which is not exclusive to crypto.

But if you talk about ASIC miners or hardware wallets exclusively for crypto, you will likely get arrested if they notice. But I believe almost 40% of the young people in Bangladesh use crypto secretly.
625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why rush, instead of taking your time to learn about the forum ? on: November 30, 2023, 07:15:26 AM
They might feel you were dump but I put it to you that you're not,
To be honest, I felt dumb. Not because I couldn't convince them but because I wanted to help them for free. There is a saying: do not start any debate with illiterate people. There was no point in joining the debate.

Not everyone is the same and I believe there are people out there that would be willing to give you listening ears, all you have to do Is focus on them, and allow the one's who claim to know it all make mistakes, there are chances that they'll still fall back to you begging and paying to know what you would've taught them for free.

True. A guy sent me a private message asking what a good wallet to store Bitcoin and USDT is. Surely, he has seen the point I mentioned in their comment section. But, as you may know, Bitcoin is banned here. So, If anyone asks me If I use Bitcoin or any crypto, I used to say NO. But when people ask for help, sometimes I have to answer them. Now, I am using a fake account to answer them.

সব কিছু তো ঠিকই কাজ করলো। মজার ব্যাপার হলো ফোনের এই এপ এ ইমোজি সহ শো করেছে। আপনার মেসেজের উত্তর;

Alittle more than 75% of all Bljatcoins in existence is owned by the Chinese / Chajnese Gov. And you are supporting that 🤭🤣

Don't you feel tired, bro? Don't you feel bored that you keep posting for years and no one gives a shit?
I should have patients like you. I easily lose interest in something after a certain period of time.
I have been watching you since I started my forum journey. I see you have been trying to spread FUD for years now.
I am curious if you were able to convince anyone  Smiley

I can't stare at screen reading and writing small words for many hours (well, I can enlarge them hehe) but I don't like doing it, but my degree has forced me to do.
But I am sure You spend more than a couple of hours in front of a desktop or mobile screen. I know this for a fact because there was a time when I was writing almost 70+ posts a week and you were writing too to compete. Haha. If you have a problem, you should take a glass for your eyes and make sure to get a blue cut glass.

I made a few posts in technical discussion to get hold of more things like this but for some time I am not very active in technical discussions but I have seen you there and I even know you have tested this timelock feature very well as you shared your experience.
That's nice to know. Sometimes I explore some sections to see what's going on. I do not write if I do not feel interested in it. I tested the timelock with coinb.in and I guess it was o_e_l_e_o who helped me solve some issues in that thread. It was about a year ago.
630  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why rush, instead of taking your time to learn about the forum ? on: November 29, 2023, 08:51:02 AM
it’s a good thing you’ve used the knowledge you’ve acquired to impact others outside the bitcointalk community, it show how devoted you were in learning and now you’re ripping from the good benefits and I hope Newbies seeing your statement would take note and stay focused in learnin to grow and get better.

The problem is when you talk to someone who does not understand what you are talking about; they are unlikely to value your words. The worst thing happens when you talk in a public group, and they all start trolling you because they disagree. For example, when all of them started suggesting Binance, and I said it's a centralized exchange, and you should avoid it, all of them started laughing at me because they thought I was a dumb guy, and they were correct. In such a situation, I find myself helpless and ask them to search for it on Google. Most of the time, they continue to troll and ignore suggestions!

Again, you're not defining what "centralized" vs. "decentralized" entails... You are projecting some arbitrary, unknown standard. There's definitely different metrics by which decentralization can be measured, which in addition to what I mentioned earlier also include mining pools as a % of total hash rate, the service providers of node hosting, and % of coin supply held by individual wallets. All of these things can affect a cryptocurrency's level of centralization/decentralization.

Thanks for the correct definition of centralization and decentralization. That's because of a lack of knowledge, which you may already understand. As I said, I accept the word "The rest are centralized shit" is not correct, and I didn't mean it how I wrote that. The better wording could be "Most of them are centralized." Indeed, I have a lot to learn about these things.

I understand one thing: an average Joe can't know which is most decentralized and which is not. A person has to research to know it. I doubt people check those things you mentioned before they invest. At least I didn't check that much depth. A lot to learn! Thanks for the correction anyway  Smiley
632  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: November 29, 2023, 05:10:35 AM
For bitcoins, I will still prefer the Electrum desktop version over the unstoppable wallets and there are many reasons for this. Electrum supports a lot of bitcoin features like RBF or multi signatures, which you may not find in the unstoppable wallet.

I am already using Electrum on my desktop and my Android, too. I never planned to hold altcoins for a long time. But, sometimes, we need to make some transactions, and sometimes, I buy altcoins for a short period. But, surely, it's better to hold my coins in my own wallet, even if it's for one day. I was using centralized exchanges to buy altcoins and kept them there. So, I decided to use a dedicated altcoin wallet. Previously, I used Trust Wallet. But, as you may know, it's a closed source, which is why everyone asks not to use it. For now, I am also moving to Unstoppable Wallet and using Electrum.

It's not like I didn't know there were some decentralized coins apart from Bitcoin. I know that. But If you look at the number of Cryptos and the number of decentralized coins, I guess the percentage is less than 2%. According to coinmarketcap, there are 2M+ Cryptos, but how many of them are decentralized? I accept that the word "Rest of them are centralized shit" is not a correct statement. I wrote it intentionally to show my opinion about alts.

I don't know how other crypto programs get changed, but a Bitcoin developer cannot add/remove a feature from it whenever he wants. The majority of the developers have to agree with the changes. I feel that their official team changes most crypto codes, and they can make any changes they want.

I realized the importance of the maximum supply limit after the Terra Luna saga. Their developer was increasing the supply limit, and the coin was dumped like hell. I was thinking it was possible because it was fully a centralized shit.

So, "Rest of them are centralized shit" should be "Most of them are centralized shit" to make it acceptable.

I am a Facebook group member, and if a new member asks for wallet recommendations, most people suggest either Binance or Kucoin. I laugh and realize that I was part of this group one day. If you ask where I learned these things, It's BitcoinTalk.
Funny folks, they think they know so much about cryptocurrency and wallets that they will even confidently recommend exchange wallets as the safest wallet. I was also a member of a Telegram group where someone else gave the same advice and continued by suggesting that group members could keep as many coin as they desired on Binance that is the best wallet choice.

You will be surprised to know that when I tell them the difference between Binance and the wallet like electrum and why electrum is better than exudos, they laugh at me and start to criticize saying Binance in the market for a long time and they try to convince me saying it's trusted enough to store million dollar worth of crypto because others also using it.

I have even saw that people holding over $100 at Binance and when I tell him "bro, you should use non-custodial wallet". He said "No, thanks". I wish them to bring in a community and teach them these things. But I cannot force them.

Bitcoin is not likely to be scammed and will not run away like shitcoins. But Ethereum BNB is a very good coin to invest in bitcoin as well as altcoins. If you hold them you can profit from these currencies along with bitcoin.

Your post is full of contradictions, bro! Make sure you know what you are writing. Just writing random things is not a way to join a discussion. You said, Ethereum BNB is a very good coin to invest in bitcoin. What does it even mean? Ethereum BNB is good coin and you suggest investing in Bitcoin. The suggestion in this line is not bad, but what kind of logic is this?

In the very next word, you also suggest altcoins so they can profit from these currencies along with Bitcoin. But in the first part of your post, you said shitcoins are likely to scam. So that you know, Only Bitcoin is Bitcoin! The rest of them are centralized shit!

This is good to hear. You have done well. It is only the person that wear a tight shoe that knows how the shoe is paining him. I know how that people have insulted you because you were trying to make things better for them
The funny thing is, no one even replied to my post when I called them out because they know that they are guilty of wrongdoing. They have insulted me with alternate accounts, so I cannot tell who that was.  Cheesy Some members appreciated me because I tried to fix these things, but surely some of them are not happy with my work!

and all their thinking for was you wanted to report their accounts to be banned or to be tagged but what you did is for good.

I could have created a thread on local boards if I wanted to report or tag them. I didn't have to post in our local thread multiple times and request them not to do any abuse. I just wanted to help them.

I heard safepal become open source but I cannot trust coin telegraph. Also, Guarda claims they are partially open source. Thanks for providing the link.
You can probably check their GitHub to see the code. As far as I know, they don't fully share their code. Firmware etc is yet open, although IIRC the news said that it is ongoing and should happen in the fourth quarter. Heck, even their X1 still has nothing on the repository albeit being called the culmination of their open-source motivation. I guess what they refer to open-source is entirely limited to their wallet suite, whatever that is.

Yep. As far as I heard, their latest hardware wallet is open-source, but I couldn't find any detailed information about it. If they build an open-source hardware wallet, is there any possibility they can publish the software/app codes, too? I guess we don't know this yet. But for now, I found Unstoppable very much fine for me. At least it meets my needs for now.

I was trying to get a hardware wallet, but transacting crypto here is not legal. So, importing hardware wallets or any crypto-related gadgets is not allowed either.

Glad to know your story! I guess I have learned many things from this forum. The forum helped me understand how Bitcoin works and why privacy is important. Which wallet should I use, what is an open-source wallet, what is its benefit, why should we not use centralized exchanges, and why is it essential to use our wallets that give private keys/seed phrases?

I am saying it because I used to think I would invent this thing that would do xyz but when I shared my idea with others they said, it was already in existence so I got sad because I was thinking of making that but now I can't. Well, what we can do now, maybe we can improve that idea.
Wow! Were you planning to develop something like this? Do you have programming knowledge? If so, why not contribute to the Bitcoin program? Even though the feature you mentioned has already been invented, you can still code some other features if you want. But, I am having a hard time believing if you are a coder or not. I haven't seen you in any kind of technical discussion yet. my bad!

It needs advancements as the technology used in there I don't trust it fully.
You should not suggest some technology or a feature that you do not trust. If you do not trust 1xbit, you should not suggest others to use it. I have used coinb.in, and I trust the technology. Looking at this post should give you a better idea of what I am talking about; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5475648.msg63229159#msg63229159

Yes. it's very much possible to lock your Bitcoin for a certain period of time. TryNinja explained so well in one thread, and I believe this is what you were looking for. There was a time when I always thought I would hold my Bitcoin and won't spend it. But most of the time I ended up spending them on gambling purposes. So, I wanted to lock my btc for a while, and I found this post by TryNinja which explains how I can lock my Bitcoin until a certain block. There is a more detailed version in steemit; https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@daan/how-to-create-time-locked-transactions-with-bitcoin-free-bitcoins-inside , I have posted this in another thread too.

You can use Coinbin to do that. I had one a few months ago and it's quite easy to create/spend your coins after the chosen period.

To create the Time Locked Address:
1. Go to Coinb.in;
2. New -> Time Locked Address.
3. Enter your address public key (the one you require to sign the transaction and be able to spend the coins);
4. Enter the date-time or blockheight you want to release the coins.
5. Submit and save the Redeem Script (don't lose that or you won't be able to spend your coins in the future);
6. Send the coins you want to keep locked to the Address generated.

After the chosen period, you will be able to spend your coins.
1. Go to Coinb.in;
2. New -> Transaction;
3. Paste your Redeem Script and click Load (it's going to show every input available to be spent);
4. Paste the address you want to send the coins to at the "Address" field and the amount in the "Amount" field. The remaining funds will be used as fee. E.g: If your address has 0.015BTC, you can put 0.014BTC in the "Amount" field and the fee will be 0.001BTC (0.015 - 0.014);
5. Submit and copy the raw transaction;
6. Go to the "Sign" tab (at Coinb.in);
7. Paste the private key from the address you choose when creating the Time Locked Address.
8. Paste the raw transaction you just created.
9. Submit, copy the signed transaction and push it to the network (you can do it in the Broadcast tab).
10. Transaction sent!
