Will you keep using ETH from time to time or will you move on to other crypto because of the tx fees?

I always kept some ETH in the wallet that I use most, about $2 to $5, precisely for the relatively low transaction fees, now I need to have at least $12 to avoid the risk of not being able to pay for a transaction  Undecided

I enjoyed your series thread for the 2019/2020 and i suppose its going to be another exciting season once again.
I noticed that you left the weekdays to be Saturday only, instead of using the weekdays that correlates with the date, a technical error or you left it purposely?
I corrected the days mistake, thank you for pointing it out. It was an accident - the old copy and paste haste  Grin

Today's match are eye watering; there are suggestions that the Liverpool are caught up, with the crossing antics, will Klopp figure out another way to attack teams? or it will be the same direct approach ? Leeds are know for low blocks and strategic game-plan, can they upset Liverpool? Big questions. I go for a Leeds draw.

Fulham did not survive their latest promotion to the premier league, and it remains to be seen if they have truly learnt. Meanwhile Arteta Arsenals are known to play negative football, sit back and hit on the counter. Will Arsenal sit back against fulham ? Will Fulham show some mettle ? It remains to be seen, but am gunning for a brace for Aubameyang.

I think crystal palace will win against Southampton, while A victory for West-Ham is what Moyes needs to proof he can survive the Job at the West London.

Its great to have the EPL back, exciting weekend ahead.
I would not be surprised if Leeds shocked at Anfield with a win or even a draw, they play super attacking and controlled football and Liverpool might find it hard to break them down. I would have to go for an Arsenal win against Fulham. I think Crystal Palace and Southampton would end in a draw. As for West Ham against Newcastle, another draw.
6203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis: US Open 2020 on: September 12, 2020, 09:06:55 AM

Thiem and Zverev are best friends on and off the tour. it will be an emotional rollercoaster for them both but Thiem will probably win this match and claim his first Grand Slam. To be fair Thiem certainly deserves it because he has been knocking on the door a long time now.

Here is Thiem recent Grand Slam record and the reason why I think he will win the US Open:

2016: French Open semi-final (lost to Djokovic)
2017: French Open semi-final (lost to Nadal)
2018: French Open finalist (lost to Nadal)
2019: French Open finalist (lost to Nadal)
2020: Australian Open finalist (lost to Djokovic)
2020: US Open finalist

Thiem has already beaten Djokovic and Nadal at Grand Slams and is finally at the age of 27 on his way to becoming a multiple Grand Slam winner. His record at the French Open shows he will be second favourite behind Nadal to win it and he already made the Australian Open final in 2020.

@JollyGood Zverev vs Thiem is the dream finale for this tournament, and I believe that this match will be really long, because both will badly want to win this tournament, and they won’t give up till the very end. Also I agree with your prediction as I too believe that Thiem has an excellent chance of winning this tournament, but then again we should not underestimate Zverev too because he definitely has the potential to defeat Thiem.

Thanks to your posts qwizzie, there is a lot of clarity now regarding redenomination. Nice to see lots of ideas being floated around Dash, it clearly means people are actively seeking to improve and contribute ideas towards the future goals.

Okay, i got more information from Rion about re-denomination for Dash :

Quote
Re-denomination to any degree is not an increase in supply or marketcap in and of itself.  It could change the marketcap for psychological reasons, but not because of the re-denomination per se.

The money supply (in DUFF or SATOSHI) doesn't change at all
That's never been my argument.  It's always been about improving the UX.
The redenom itself is mostly a cosmetic UX change.

The true supply of a currency is its base unit.  The base unit in Dash is sometimes called DUFF.  You can create cosmetic units that are defined as a certain number of those base units.  In the case of Dash we have defined a cosmetic unit call DASH that is defined to be 100,000,000 DUFF.  Changing the definition of how many DUFFs make up a DASH does not change how many DUFFs exist.  It changes how the cosmetic unit is defined.

Link : https://github.com/riongull/notes/blob/master/dash_unit_denominations.md#comparison-table

No increase in marketcap because of the re-denomination per se.
Re-denomination is mostly a cosmetic UX change.

I had to do some heavy editing to some of my previous posts, sorry about that.

If they market the fight correctly and maximise all revenue options then they will easily make enough for all parties involved to have big pay days and that goes for both boxers, their managers and the promoters. Having fans in the arena should positively affect both boxers, I wonder how it would feel having that fight in an empty stadium.

If no fans will be allowed to watch the bout then a minimum of $15 million in ticket sales will be lost so it is vital fans will be allowed in to the arena otherwise Pay Per View fans watching at home will have to pay increased amounts to make up for the shortfall.

If the price is affordable I think they can get it sold to the fans, they might not have the gate entrance but there's a lot of fans now that would still watch online so PPV will increase compared to the regular situation where gate entrance are allowed.

Promoter should carefully evaluate this fight, it's a big fight hence it deserves a big pay.

If they love the fans then they will make it happen at per scheduled date but if they love their pockets, they can postponed it again, for the 2nd time.  Sad

If there is no real consensus for this then it is a non-issue as far as I am concerned. Personally I just do not understand why anybody would be in favour of (or advocating for) redenomination when it comes to Dash because there is no real need to do it with nothing clear about what is to gain from it. If in the future there is a need to consider this it makes sense to discuss all options but right now there is no need, no case and no consensus to go as far as redenomination.

It would need to go through a decision proposal. Outcome would be difficult to guess. This is not about masternode operators / masternode owners being able to call themselves millionaires in Dash.
Personally i am against redenomination. For some reason it comes off as very manipulative and seems to challenge the immutable character of cryptocurrency.

Marketcap = Circulating Supply x Price

Current situation

Dash : 9,700,739 DASH Circulating Supply  & Price  : $75.78
Marketcap : $735,122,001
Mined : 9,700,739 DASH / 18,900,000 DASH x 100 =  51%

Three decimals shifting (1 OLD DASH = 1000 NEW DASH)

Dash : 9,700,739,000 DASH Circulating Supply  & Price  : $0,07578
Marketcap : $735,122,001
Mined : 9,700,739,000 DASH / 18,900,000 DASH x 100 =  51,326%

why would one grand slam make such a difference so that cannot catch Nadal or Federer at the top with the number of grand slams?
It makes whole lot of difference because right now if Djokovic never wins another Grand Slam then he only has himself to blame. Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev are chasing down Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

he would catch Federer with the number of weeks at the top of ATP list
I respect your views but disagree. Just look at the rankings. Add 2000 ranking points to the winner and 1200 to the runner up, when looking at Thiem and Medvedev, one of them will be the winner or runner-up and will get those points. Nadal will be back at the French Open and maybe Federer again so I cannot see Djokovic overtaking Federer as most weeks at #1 position of the rankings

and will fight with Nadal for number of grand slams, since it is more chances for Nadal to win another one/two RG, than Federer to win any tournament
The issue is as simple as this, Djokovic must win more Grand Slams to catch Nadal and then one more to catch Federer and then another one to go one ahead whereas Nadal and Federer do not have to win any more to catch Djokovic because they are ahead.

The onus is on Djokovic to win and the pressure is on him too. Though you and others might disagree I think this was his best and last real chance of winning a Grand Slam because Federer and Nadal were not in the picture but I cannot see him winning another because Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev and to a degree Tsitsipas will be pushing for titles. At 33 years of age Djokovic will be fortunate to reach another Grand Slam semi-final with these players in the chasing pack. Just my opinion.

So it seems 19th December 2020 is the date Bob Arum (promoter for Fury) has been mentioning regularly to take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. If no fans will be allowed to watch the bout then a minimum of $15 million in ticket sales will be lost so it is vital fans will be allowed in to the arena otherwise Pay Per View fans watching at home will have to pay increased amounts to make up for the shortfall.

Excellent post. It is not just newbies who are susceptible to this type of scam, seasoned professionals can also have a lapse of concentration and lower their guard.

Scammers are trying to find ways to scam, everybody should be more cautious.

Unfortunately several players have fallen victim to this scam recently. While the story the scammer tells the victim varies, the scam always revolves around the scammer setting the recovery email address on an account shared with the victim without the victim noticing. The victim changes the account's password thinking they are safe, but if they fail to notice the changed recovery email address the attacker can simply reset the account's password and gain access to it this way later.

To make it harder to overlook that your account's recovery email address has been changed, the current recovery email address is now shown after you change your account's password. I will also add a warning message that needs to be dismissed before being able to chat with a new friend in the next patch.

However, while I try to protect bustabit's players from scams as best as I can, ultimately it's up to the individual. Please take the warnings shown on bustabit seriously:
  • Never reveal your account's password to anyone.
  • Don't use an account provided to you by someone else.
  • Avoid making deals with anyone in bustabit's chat. bustabit is not a trading site and doesn't attempt to provide a safe trading environment.

I know it is hypothetical but what would the consensus be on that if it were to happen?

There is a fine line between the balance of keeping investors happy and keeping masternode operators happy while trying not to tilt towards favouritism to one over the other.

Would a redenomination affect Dash store of value?
What risks are there with a redenomination ?
Good questions that warrant some good discussion.

I think allowing more people to own whole units of DASH will help with decentralization as it will get DASH in more hands.

Who would rather have 0.0034 over 3.4 of something?

3 decimals shift would make masternode owners millionaires (in DASH), over night. Now there is a thought.

1 old DASH = 1,000 new DASH
1,000 old DASH (Masternode collateral) = 1,000,000 new DASH

Thank you for replying to all my questions.
6220  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: September 11, 2020, 07:30:00 AM
It is like a double whammy because first many users already sent KYC to Cryptopia now they have to send it again to the liquidators.

Then there are those that used Cryptopia because they did not want to send KYC but are being told to send ID to stand any chance of getting any portion of their funds back.

A very sad situation indeed.

Yea that is the problem why would you send your ID to somewhere on the other side of the world with no guarantee even that would get your funds back?

I would say not even 10% of people are going to do it, some cant even do it they don't have any ID. Cryptopia let anyone trade with nothing more than an email. Multiple emails. And how many have even looked at getting back its forgotten about or written off.

So what will happen to the vast pool of unclaimed coins. Do they get shared out to account holders? Do the shareholders get it? Does Grant Thornton have a devious lawyer clause to lay claim to whats left?

This will have years left to play out.
