I think we should not allow withrawal of $ at MtGox until after Adding Funds is also possible again. Only one-sided allowance will bring this small and still vulnerable system out of balance.

We should allow withdrawal and adding of funds in parallel.

So if he doesn't find an acceptable (to him) way to take money he shouldn't give people their cash back? Letting people get their money is surely his primary concern.

In some areas of the USA where patriotism is high every other company is sticking America in it's name to cash in on some patriotism. Someone should make WirtlandBitcoin.com or Wirtcoin.com or Bwitcoin.com or Bwirtcoin.com or something and set up a site similar to Mybitcoin there and market to Wirtlanders.

The transaction fee takes care of it. Unless I'm missing your meaning.

Welcome,

Interesting project. I hope you find what we have already established useful and can consider this as a currency for your micronation.

What an awesome concept that a group of individuals not bonded by geographical area, could trade an electronic currency freely and easily.

In regard to the rebranding, this is what a client may be able to do, that doesn't have the generation function. Generation is only a means for progressing the block chain and allowing transactions to be accepted and secured. I believe it is not meant for the majority of users to do it. The average joe would only use it as a means to store and transfer coins. I don't see how it would hurt to have a Wirtizen's client, powered by bitcoin (maybe even say something like that?)

Sure, I don't mean anything but changing the words and logo, the client would function exactly as normal. Not a new chain or different rules or anything like that. And bitcoin should be mentioned somewhere so people can meet us if they want to ;-)
6205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as national payment system ? on: October 15, 2010, 12:13:17 AM
I had a passing thought a while back that there could be many 'brandings' of bitcoin, but dismissed it as pointlessly confusing. It might work to get possibly non-crypto-minded Wirtizens to adopt it.

It would go like this:

Wirtland administration checks it out, sees it is legit and is a great idea.

Someone modifies the client slightly to say "Wirtcoin" or something and a new logo, etc.

Wirtizens trust, download from the Wirt site, and adopt.

It would essentially be the same as a normal government declaring gold or something to be the national currency and stamping some of the coins, but accepting any standardized gold.

Would that be through the Resolution Centre - suppose for non-delivery of product?
What's your non-delivered product? I think Bitcoins are being delivered as usual.

I tried to withdraw the paid for Bitcoins - but MtGox (suspecting this to be a fraudulent transaction), put a 30-day waiting period on my purchased Bitcoin - before withdrawal can be effected.

Are my paid-for purchased items considered delivered, if I cannot withdraw them immediately, and they are not in my full control?  Is it some 30-day fixed deposit without interest?

Before the MtGox Paypal account freeze (due to chargebacks of fraudulent stolen credit card transactions on the MtGox Paypal account), I had a positive outlook of MtGox's future, and 30 days would be ok to wait. Currently however, I am hesitant and do not know what will happen with MtGox in the next few weeks?

Are you saying you deposited and bought bitcoins before he instated that rule and he retroactively applied it to you?
6207  Economy / Marketplace / Re: My Site (Current Status: UP) - Games, huge KoL Meat sale on: October 14, 2010, 04:25:50 AM
I notice it doesn't take the .1BTC until the game is played. Are you making sure there is enough BTC in the account for all the queued games?
6208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone willing to buy Mhash/s? / distributed hashing on: October 13, 2010, 09:03:09 PM
Payment via Paypal is now possible.

1 Mhash/s for 30 days == $1.30

PM coming!
6209  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Wager on year end bitcoin difficulty factor on: October 13, 2010, 10:46:32 AM
Old wagers will not be re-opened. What we really need is a contract prediction market to accomplish this task.

Exactly.
6210  Economy / Marketplace / Re: My Site (Current Status: UP) - KoL meat conversion and Games and more on: October 13, 2010, 09:17:23 AM
Hrm.  I took you up on that and it gave us BOTH a win.  Checking for bugs now.

[Edit] Nevermind, it wasn't a bug.  We tied, so technically we did both win.  It shouldn't count for e-penis bragging rights though, so I'll fix it to not affect the scoreboard.

[Edit][Edit] 'kay, if the game's a total draw it won't count anymore.

By the way, if you have plays queued you aren't charged for them until someone else joins and the game is computed.  And, when I restart the server it wipes the queue.  I don't wanna make some major change to the rules or how much I charge and leave someone feeling gypped because their queued plays turned out to be a huge waste.  Is that an acceptable convenience-security tradeoff?

So no fee for draws either? ;-)

I think it's an acceptable risk, I'm not going to do 50 or anything. Could you make it tell you how many you have in the queue?

A "toggle all" button would be good. I think there is a bias toward not claiming a lot of squares because it's more work.
6211  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling 50,000+ BTC at $0.04/BTC on: October 13, 2010, 09:14:09 AM
I can't believe people are sending cash in envelops with the word cash on the front.

I don't think that brochure was a coincidence either.
6212  Economy / Marketplace / Re: My Site (Current Status: UP) - KoL meat conversion and Games and more on: October 13, 2010, 06:12:09 AM
Nice, I've got 3 queued up. Good luck, suckers.
6213  Economy / Marketplace / Re: paypal dropped mtgox on: October 13, 2010, 04:20:48 AM
MtGox is doing the best he can. Its not his fault scammers are doing chargebacks. Maybe something needs to be done about them instead. Make an example of one of them ie a bounty on finding their dox. Surely there must be a hacker who could do this on here.

If someone thinks they will get away scott free for ripping off bitcoin users they will do it. If there are consequences for doing so they might think twice. I am not against self defence and a deterrent should be in place that stops peoples property and reputation being stolen.

I dont think that would do anything  Smiley

In a free market system these issues need to be dealt with. In no way is that a call for violence.

To be clear. I'm saying to design exchanges in some better way that I haven't thought of instead of violence.

Don't reopen, make new ones.

The info posted on buybitcoins said that one person was using as many as 25 different credit cards. This must have only been possible because it was completely automated, right?
6217  Economy / Marketplace / Re: My Site - KoL meat conversion and Games and more on: October 12, 2010, 10:29:37 AM
Oh, sometimes I'm getting redirected to a totally white screen.

I haven't encountered that yet.

<edit>I do notice that sometimes the reload hangs.</edit>

Yes, that's when it happens.

There must be an easier way than constant reloading, can't a website "watch" for something to happen?
6218  Economy / Marketplace / Re: My Site - KoL meat conversion and Games and more on: October 12, 2010, 08:42:56 AM
Very cool idea.

Once you get all the kinks worked out you should have a micro stake and a more meaningful stake and maybe eventually a large stake. I think the board size is fine.

As was said you should keep the results viewable, maybe even save them for a while.  Maybe you could let people que up plays? Like instead of just telling me I've already entered the round, let me do another and it will automatically get played in the next game, so that I can do 5 now and if someone comes on in a few hours they can do multiples instead of just one and having to wait again. You would need to add a results page or something so I can see how everything worked out I guess.

Oh, sometimes I'm getting redirected to a totally white screen.

Damn that sucks.
6220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone willing to buy Mhash/s? / distributed hashing on: October 11, 2010, 11:55:29 PM
I'd like to pay USD for hash power. Can this be set up?
