Interesting idea OP. There is one disincentive to using this "attack". If Amazon used such a technique they could hurt the value of bitcoin and their own bottom line. Amazon does not want to hurt bitcoin it wants to profit from it. I suspect they will develop a bitcoin payment gateway that adds value with services such as escrow. That is where they can make a scalable percentage into perpetuity, rather than a short term mining trick that drives users away from BTC.

... BTC shouldnt be viewed solely as an investment. It is much more than that! ...
+1 In fact the idea of "investing" in bitcoin is sorta new. It's utility as a payment network is far superior to others, that is some of it's value. And people seem to forget that once you have bitcoin you already have money. There is no real need to turn it back into fiat. Why would I want fiat? It's not as sound a money as bitcoin.

Hi mirt. Welcome to the forums. If you have any questions, just ask and 500 people will fill your thread with worthless opinions. lol, just kidding man. There are some good people here.

Oh sure. For example I'm also known as Dank.
lol, just kidding.

Super freakin cool!!!
If bitcoin keeps going up, I may actually do this.

I see what your saying, but assuming there will be a market for transferring money then bitcoin will have a space to compete in. If that is true then bitcoin will endure since it is in a position to out-compete proprietary systems.

So your laughing at me for buying stuff at a discount? I buy bitcoins, wait a month, then go 1/2 price shopping. Hahaha...

The code for the system is open source. People who don't know about open source may not be aware of how safe this makes bitcoin.

I think I first heard about "early adopters" and "missing the boat" when we hit $1. Ask your Mom if she knows about bitcoin. The day she says yes, the early adoption phase is over. Kinda like the day she friended you on FaceBook.

... Would be nice of they set some emails to warn you at the 3 month and 5 month and day before. But I don't have a record of any emails. I'm kind of surprised there aren't more topics about this. ...
I agree. You should get a warning. What if you have real money in there? And i am also surprised that posts like yours aren't all over these forums. Surely there are others. That's a bummer man. Hope they work with you on this problem.

Pleasure to me you JB. Welcome.

As a military trainer I got to live in an anarchy or two. No one there liked it. Violence, poverty, fear. You know, utopia.

I was not aware of Gox having such a policy.

But I don't find them malicious, just incompetent.
... corrupt lovers of power and control freaks. That has not been my experience. I'm sure that many elected officials have that mindset, but my family members in the FBI for example are more like boyscouts. They want to do good. Sometimes it does not work out though. Take the disastrous drug war. Which has caused so much suffering. I approach such problems with engagement. And I see it working in places like Colorado and Washington state. Don't fight the government, make it do your bidding.

You aren't going to earn 1 BTC by using free sites, accept it.
He's right, no one is going to give you hundreds of dollars. Think about how you might get other forms of money. You could sell something, you could work for it, you could buy it with another currency, you could invest $20k on a mining rig and mine some.

... knuckleheads...
Some people seem to make paranoia about the government their religion. Like any zealot the facts have no persuasive effect. Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of criticisms of my government. But I don't find them malicious, just incompetent.

I think for a lot of people default to criticism when faced with something they don't understand. "Bitcoin can't work because...".
I'm happy to see it! If more people understood bitcoin and grasped it's importance, I might not be so rich.

Calling bitcoin a ponzi is soooo 2010.

the beauty of this one is that it just appeared out of nowhere. i've not seen one peep of this strategy here or on Reddit.
WAY TO GO!
I bet we see more and more of this as bitcoin moves outside our English speaking community and into the world. Turkey is an super cool place. They are not quite Europe, not quite the middle east. If you have not been there I highly recommend it. Flights can be very reasonable. I've seen Chicago to Istanbul direct for $539! and inside Turkey you can catch flights for like $25.

Right but the manipulators look more like those 'protecting the US dollar and national security', the ESF and equivalents would be the most likely, bankster agencies but not banks directly. It's not that simple though, Bitcoin threatens plenty of big companies and there's also plenty of funds in the hands of others interested in protecting Bitcoin. It will probably be spectacular True that. It's not that I trust the banks, far from it. I just trust that their interest in bitcoin, me and everything else is money.
