6221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's your plan for the future? on: March 24, 2022, 07:41:05 PM
Stuff are not looking great in terms of forthcoming profits, way too much hardware is emerging online, electricity and gas tariffs are all going up all around the globe. This merge looks like it is flawlessly on track and there are so many questions about the future of mining, what are your strategies toward this?.

My strategies towards mining remain the same regardless of what X or Y coin is doing now or in the future.  Get cheap renewable energy, mine whatever chain is most profitable to do so on Nicehash, and let it grow until you need it for something.  This has proven to be a fairly stress free way to mine, and I'm glad I took the steps when things were going well to ensure that there would be no concerns when margins start being pressed.  As some might say, the best time to buy an umbrella is when it's sunny out.  Stay away from debt, use renewable energy, buy mining equipment when it's cheap to do so and sell it when people are paying above retail.  That seems to be the winning combination for me anyway.
6222  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did the US, its allies and the West think these sanctions through? on: March 24, 2022, 06:38:54 PM
I don’t think our current administration has thought anything through. They seemed surprised that their insane money printing to fight the flu caused inflation and are now even insanely trying to blame it on Russia. I don’t know if this current administration thinks people are so stupid they can just keep lying and people will believe it, but they’ve lost any credibility they may have had. “Two weeks to flatten the curve.” “Inflation is transitory.” Absolutely shameful. If you are a liberal who still defends this administration you are a victim of munchausen syndrome.

Sources: Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving will be cleared for home games as New York City will on Thursday change private sector vaccine mandate to allow exemption for athletes and entertainers in workplace. Unvaccinated Yankees and Mets players also now eligible for home games.

^ As you can see, we now have a date of when it will possibly happen. More on this here

Kyrie Irving wins the battle. The pride he has shown is worth it lol.

The Nets will surely be happy about that as Kyrie will now be available anytime. Maintaining the playoffs spot is what they did while waiting for the green light from New York City to change restrictions against unvaccinated people playing within their premises.

The disadvantage of the Nets in the playoffs is now slowly fading. But unless it wasn't official, they should not hope for now. It's now official?

Well, so far it shows that Irving have won his battle for this case. Now, the Nets duo Irving-Durant is back to dominate each and every game especially when they are playing home games and their chances to grab the 5th or 6th seed are much higher now. Too bad they lost against the Grizzlies today who's one of their key players are ruled out.

In line with @Bttzed03 quote above, I thinks it's already official that Irving is welcome to play home games starting today.

NEW YORK — Kyrie Irving and other unvaccinated athletes will be allowed to play professional sports in New York City under a major policy change Mayor Eric Adams is poised to announce Thursday, people familiar with the matter confirmed.

Ya, his first game at home will be this Sunday. It’s a shame he was held out of any games at all, but you have to respect that he was willing to sacrifice a lot in order to do what he felt was right. As a result, he now has a stronger immune response to covid than the vaccinated players in the league and he didn’t have to compromise his beliefs. Congrats to Kyrie for being able to play home games again and I have a lot or respect for him for not letting anyone force him into something he didn’t want to do. Now the wait for Ben Simmons to join them on the court.

Very cool (pun intended).  I looked into immersion cooling a few years back but the solutions that were available were in the 6 figure price range.  Seeing these units at what I consider to be an affordable price point makes me happy.  I'm looking forward to hearing your experience as I would consider using something like this in my garage if it were possible, which it sounds like it is.  Having some GPUs in there with some ASICs would be a pretty awesome at home setup.  I've been hesitant to go this route as I worry it is what I don't know that will cause me problems, so I'm looking forward to learning more from you about the entire process from ordering, to setup, to maintaining everything.  Good luck!

Week 69 Payments Sent

Thank you for the prompt payments.  I have been a member of this campaign for a while now and I've never had any issues with it.  As far as I can tell it's an honest effort to pay users on this forum for advertising their site, which is exactly what it's supposed to be.  I have no complaints and have felt that Carollzinha has been not only accommodating but downright helpful in giving suggestions for increasing payouts.  I've been offered opportunities to jump to other campaigns with the promises of higher payouts, but I see no reason to leave this campaign as Stake has been doing great things and this campaign has never disappointed.  Keep up the great work!
Two weeks after MinMan has launched the debate, the only participant/employee who bothers to defend this campaign is obviously a guy paid almost 2 times more than the others according to the spreadsheet from Despairo. Why aren't you paid with the normal payrates of this campaign? If you think this campaign pays decently its "participants" why don't you accept to be paid with the payrates of the announcement? By the way, it's none of my business but you seem to never win the "Best posters" bonus according to the spreadsheet, they don't seem to like you as much as you like them.... if it's not a way to get back the extra money they give you.

I don't pay much attention to pay rates or rules to be honest.  If I'm being paid more than other people, cool.  They must like me a little bit then, no?  I'm not even familiar with this "best posters" bonus, but it sounds like maybe a goal for me to have in the future I guess.  I'll have to dig in and check out the posting habits of those who do win and make an effort to toss my hat in the ring.  I didn't know I was missing out on anything.  Thank you for your analysis.  Stake is doing a great job in my opinion and I give them props for that.  They don't have to like me back or give me a "best poster" title to receive my praise, they just have to keep doing a great job.

in fact, Plinko is one of those traditional games that produces a lot of emotions, and if you're right, in a weekend many new games come out, either in slots or any other, the truth is that I see slots as stress-relieving, but Plinko and Dice For me, they are games in which randomness is accompanied by strategy, sometimes you can invent by making bets with random amounts and you can be successful, but I think that the trick of all this is that you have good risk management, that is the only way to you can be in control.

In another thread that talked about making automatic bets, all games, whether in plinko or Dice, have that option, where it is very exciting to play both ways, I think that sometimes those two options are good to activate.
I do agree that it is certainly a great period where plinko was the second game that came to crypto world after dice. I remember those days, we were so bored of playing dice that we all rushed to play plinko. Obviously, we got bored of that after a while as well, imagine just playing plinko for days when you first get into crypto, I spent months on it and nothing else.

Nowadays I see it as a fun thing again, not really do it a lot but at least it is fun and all because when I get bored I could check other games as well. In the end it is definitely a great game that brings in so many memories for me and I have to say it is certainly a great feeling.

I couldn't imagine spending months gambling on any game and doing nothing else, but as long as you're having fun.  I definitely agree that plinko is the game to play if you're trying to kill a little time and have some fun.  I wonder sometimes about the transparency and provability of wins/losses when it comes to these and similar games.  I assume someone has put in the work to make sure it's all legit, but I confess that I haven't looked into it much myself.  Mostly because I'm not a big gambler.  I don't think Stake is up to anything shady and I have no reason to think that, but I always wonder how transparency can be improved or displayed more readily so there is never any doubt.

The Bulls continue to struggle against good teams in the league.  They are now 0-16 against the top 3 teams from each conference.  That's a shocking fact to me.  Even the Sacramento Kings got a win against the Warriors in their best winning season of all time.  How can the Bulls not manage to knock off one good team?  Especially while they're playing like they're one of the best teams in the league...  I'm not sure what they can do to change this, but if they don't get it figured out in time for the playoffs it could be a disappointing postseason.

Lakers and Sixers on ESPN tonight...  Good basketball watching.  Hopefully Westbrook can continue his streak of decent games and they can squeak out a win vs Embiid and Harden.

Los Angeles Lakers are trying to hold onto the playoff area now. And they had an away game against Cleveland Cavaliers last night. LA Lakers had a really solid game against Cavs and destroyed them by 131-120. Lebron had a very solid game by the way. He got a delightful triple-double by 38 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. And he was the player who got the biggest role in their win as always. Lakers played superbly especially in the second and last quarters which was helpful for a win a lot here.

The real story of the night for me was LeBron putting Kevin Love on a poster.  It was hilarious to watch their interactions afterwards also.  If you haven't seen the clip, google it.  LeBron absolutely destroyed Kevin Love who was trying to draw a charge.  Then afterwards Kevin Love put LeBron in a headlock and posted on Twitter that he's not messing with LeBron for at least 48 hours, whereas LeBron posted on Instagram that he hopes he's still invited to Kevin Love's wedding.  Those two have a great relationship and I had hoped the rumors of Kevin Love taking a buyout to join the Lakers were true, but Love decided to play out his contract and get all that $$$$$ he was promised.  Smiley

I don't know why there's a reason to create another thread for the same topic that had been deleted days ago, OgNasty  Huh. It had 63 replies and the main thread was already deleted, maybe I guess due to being off topic with gambling nor had any context on whom to gamble at all. But now this new thread had a poll on who to choose and bet, yet still don't know whats the point of re-making it. To those who just bumped onto this, feel free to just read the deleted post, some might repost their takes as well. Undecided

Thread was archived here -- Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor - https://ninjastic.space/topic/5389892

This continues to be in the news and with Conor making more recent comments about his future fight choices I came back here to see what people had to say.  I couldn't find the thread, even with a search for it.  I didn't get any notification that a thread had been deleted so I had no idea what happened or if maybe me posting it was some dream I had, living out a fantasy of posting on bitcointalk.  That led me to do the only sane thing I could do, try to turn my dreams into reality.  I guess that's the reason for creating "another" thread about this.  Had I been notified that the thread broke some rule or wasn't wanted here (from the high rate of discussion it seems to be something people want) then I wouldn't continue to harp on the subject.

That being said, I'd like to see this fight and would probably throw a few bucks on Jake if he was the underdog.

I'm still a bit curious why the original thread was moved.  This is a potential fight that might actually happen.  Whereas threads like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5367248.0 are for fights that were never in the works and have been confirmed that it will never happen by the actual fighters.  I wouldn't mind an explanation as it seems a bit like this thread was targeted for some reason.  Who reported it?  Why was it reported?  What mod moved it?  Why did they decide to move it?  What was the complaint?  I'm very curious as to the answers of these questions.  I know I'll never get them, but it seems odd that this subject was targeted.

Maus, what's your problem with this thread?

I’ve got some Block Erupter USB miners collecting dust alongside some Butterfly Labs FPGA miners. I check back every couple of years to see if they’re worth anything to the nostalgic collectors yet. Same goes for my Butterfly Labs coffee cup. Hoping one day someone will offer me 400 BTC for it so I can finally recoup my funds from undelivered Butterfly Labs ASIC miner orders… A guy can dream. 6233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 21, 2022, 09:49:10 PM
It'll be hard for anyone to make the case that LeBron isn't the GOAT after he passes Kareem on the all time scoring list.  Jordan will always be the ghost he's chasing though.  When it comes to Jordan, you have to remember the guy missed nearly 2 seasons in the middle of his prime, then retired early.  There is no doubt in my mind that if Jordan were chasing points instead of championships, he would have been the leading scorer (gambling controversy aside).

Seeing LeBron have great games and lose shows that the NBA is not only more competitive these days, but that LeBron isn't as far ahead of his competition as Jordan was.  Even Westbrook had a good game yesterday and they still lost...  Hate to see it.

There is no doubt that LeBron is the GOAT, and he has already proved it. At the same time, I agree that Jordan was clearly at a higher level than LeBron. By the way, MJ missed 4 seasons in his career, and if he hadn't been away for so long, he could have scored over 40k points. It seems to me that it could have been quite an achievable goal for him, given that he was capable of scoring more than 28 points per game before retiring from the league.

We can agree to disagree.  Lebron started earlier than Jordan as well.  Lebron is great no doubt, but the goat that's not just a given if he passes Kareem.  Jordan unretired and won 3 championships and dominated.  As good as the era was (magic, Hakeem, Ewing, reggie, barkley, Malone, etc etc) he was undeniable the best player on the court always.  And like I said different era, now aways no one plays d and hand checks are fouls.  Jordan in this era would be insane.

Jordan would be insane in any era.  It's hard to make the case against either of them.  In the end though, Jordan got more rings and more scoring titles and that's what fans want to see.  I'd also rather watch tapes of Air Jordan's highlights over LeBron's any day of the week.  Jordan existed in the era right before social media and didn't share his opinions on things so he was almost mysterious to most people.  Like a figure that you got to see on the court but that's it.  Even today he's not your typical celebrity...  LeBron on the other hand likes to share his opinions and have his life accessible to people, so I think he seems less mythical than Jordan.

Forgot all about this OG....Very nice and cool concept...reminds me of a magnet levitating on top of a superconductor.

   https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Levitation_of_a_magnet_on_top_of_a_superconductor_2.jpg

Defintley a conversation piece with what it is and how it stays afloat.

The next one you make you need to get a room temperature superconductor, then you will not need any power for the base.  Wink

Room temperature is always the tricky part. I’ve spent a good amount of time playing with and trying to understand the concepts behind quantum locking, although I’m not sure if I’ve grown any closer to an understanding. I’m very interested in all things magnet related. With forces like magnets and gravity, I feel like the mythical perpetual motion machine that could be harvested for energy should be a reality even if impossible to scale.

The cool things that could be created if it wasn’t for that pesky room temperature requirement…

Thanks!  Honestly, I was more concerned I made a mistake and or ordered out of sequence (should have bought a seat, then mint it, vs. buying a coin, and then a seat, etc).

Thanks for the confirmation and PM.

Thanks!

Mark

Your concern is a common one.  While the ordering page asks for an email address, I don't believe any attempts are made to send order confirmations given the amount of users who message me after finalizing their orders to tell me they didn't receive an email confirmation.  I will mention that I typically receive orders on the weekend, so when I am asked about people's orders and if they went though, my response is to contact nonnakip as I do not see these orders until nonnakip sends me the shipping information.  I cannot ship any minted seats or even know who to ship them to without a message from nonnakip containing this information.  Hence the delay with my now not so recent giveaway attempt.

I think owning online seats is cool.  They have some advantages over minted seats in that you can prove you own them digitally and can set any address you want to receive the distributions.  Online seats ROI is also higher due to their lower cost, which seems to be the most common complaint I hear about Minted Seats.  Depending on market prices on the auction, it may also be cheaper at times to buy a coin with a seat then to buy a seat and then mint it onto a coin.  I believe it's about $10 cheaper currently to do so with the current rates/prices.  This is because Minted Seats are sold using a USD rate, while seats on the auction are always listed in BTC and the price can be set by anyone with an online seat.

With all the talk about Jake Paul trying to find a new opponent and Conor McGregor leaving the door open for it to actually happen...  Do you think they'll meet up in the boxing ring at some point?  Conor has made it clear that his intent is to try and fight in the UFC for a belt, and is targeting a fight with Kamaru Usman for the 170lb belt this year.  Then there's talk of Diaz and Poirier rematches...  Personally, I think making a boxing comeback and getting some money isn't the worst idea if he were to go after Jake Paul first.  That would give his leg more time to heal.  However, if he lost to Jake Paul in boxing, that would seemingly be the end of his career.  With Jake having so much size on him, I'm not sure if that's the gamble I'd make so long as UFC title fights were still available.  What do you think?

Conor McGregor wants title fight against Kamaru Usman in 'late summer' return to Octagon

Levitating crypto wallets?!? I must have woken up in the year of 2047 or thereabouts.

Thanks.  I was going to tell a joke about time travel, but nobody laughed.

Seeing this thread again and I must admit, I laughed at my own joke.  At least I still find my own sense of humor hilarious.

I was reminded about this after someone commented on my levitating/floating/anti-gravity disc that I have in my kitchen.  Used to levitate the best spices in the house no doubt.  I sort of miss making cool 1-off things like this, but it's always a gamble on whether it can be done, if anybody would want it, and if it will hold true to the test of time.  I doubt I'll be messing with engraving magnets again, due to it (possibly) leading to the demise of one of my engravers, but it was worth it to know something this cool exists...

this bitcoin would technically be in the air, would different laws apply for this?

Works for me.

Stake.com is the only gambling site I use currently.  Not just because they're paying me to advertise for them, but because they've got some of the biggest names in popular culture also promoting their brand.  I've never had any issues with them as far as paying out wins, sending withdrawals, or anything else.  I would and in fact I do trust them to make bets and I also think the signup process was simple and straightforward.  I wouldn't hesitate to use them, or recommend them to others.  If you do want to sign up, you could do me a solid and use the referral link in my signature to toss me a few satoshis for my trouble.  Good luck with whatever you attempt to do.  May the gambling gods shine down upon you.

LeBron James passed Karl Malone and became the second most scorer player of all time. I believe he will finish first before he retires. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has 38.387 points and LeBron alrady has 36.947 points. He only need one more season to become officially the most scoring player and undisputed GOAT. We are lucky to watch him since his rookie season. We witnessed how he evolved his game and attitude towards years.
I confess that we have the privilege of seeing LeBron James play in the NBA. I have no doubt that before he retires, LJ will have a good chance of overtaking Abdul-Jabbar with more points scored.
I don't know if he's the GOAT, but I have no doubt that he's the best SF ever and also the best well-arounded player (of course, that's my opinion).
