In general your post count is going to decrease if: - You are quoting on unnecessary megathreads -...so the thread you quoted is deleted - You open a new thread that is redundant. - If you are writing in serious discussion, then your posting count is not going to increase the number, but I doubt it, probably are the first two reasons. |

Dear like-minded people! I'm on the forum relatively recently. Nevertheless, I managed to notice that this forum turned into a rivalry, for the right to participate in bounty campaigns.
Well, this is not for the forum concern. Meaning: if there is rivalry for entering in a bounty, that`s good, isn`t it? Let the best win The forum is interesting for different people! Among them, many people who do not want to participate in the bounty campaigns that are held at the forum. Now outside the forum there are many platforms where the bounty campaigns are held. They can easily replace the platform for bounty campaigns that is here.
Ok, you are meaning that you suggest bounties to disappear or to create another side to place them? I think many will agree that with the introduction of a new system of assigning ranks, the very concept of "rank" has changed the meaning.
If earlier the rank testified to the activity and usefulness of the participant to other forum participants and the forum itself, now it is about its usefulness for bounty campaigns.
You are totally wrong in this one. The older ranking system was based just on activity. The "new one" is based both in activity and in usefulness, not in bounties. I invite the owners of the forum to think about how to separate the bounty campaign from the forum and return the previous, fair system of awarding ranks. Because the very concept of "forum" suggests that here the participants discuss anything relating to the topic of the forum, and not earn and compete with each other.
I can not say for sure, but it is probably financially beneficial for the owners of the forum that they conduct bonus campaigns on their forum. If so, then I do not blame. Every work must be paid.
So your suggestion is to create another forum or another site to harbour the bounties, and to recover the old ranking system based only in activity? |

To be honest I understand why to post on Serious discussion rather to in another shitty board, because mostly the "general" ones are polluted quickly with all kind of crappy post and such.
The issue here is that the serious discussion in beginning to be polluted, maybe because almost all the threads in there are receiving merits, deserved ones, but it seems like merited boards are like the light to the flies (look what`s happening with meta too, and all the crappy guides).
So maybe, in order to keep the spammers far from this one, which is already quite polluted, maybe merits shouldn`t be shown in there. I don`t know, like a kind of "hidden merit", you can see them in the people`s profile but not in the thread.
I think many of the shitposters are just seeking some reward in there, and I`m afraid it can become a useless board soon (look at was speed we have lost other boards).
Besides, I totally agree with the Pharmacist and with the rest too. Maybe the problem is not "too big" yet, but, isn`t better to be a step ahead of an incoming issue in order to keep the board?
As vpashita01 pointed to determinate what kind of posts should be in there or not is truly difficult, I agree too. But shitposters are easy to detect, and they are coming, and more are going to arrive. So Maybe The pharmacist is right or maybe by simply hiding the merit rewards in this and the IT board can help the matter.
I just see the forum being more and more polluted every single day. Of course, I`m tired of that. Reporting the shitpost in the serious discussion is a great tool, but it comes impossible to handle with time (just look at the Bitcoin Discussion or Alts boards).

When I first became a merit source, I felt that I needed some guidance from senior members. I know I can be a bit dogmatic at times. I created a chat room using free blab software, and I am grateful to those members who helped me in that room. The room is still active, but there are only 3 or 4 of us who chat regularly there - all legendaries btw. I would welcome any other merit sources or DTs to join the chat.
I've got as closed mod board on fit to talk, but that is only for that site. What may be more interesting are the closed boards for members to sanitise posts before submitting them to Bitcoin Talk. We are aware that some governments monitor forum sites looking for political dissenters, and we would like to help members to avoid this unwanted attention.
The beginners board is now completely useless, and I am considering creating an index of decent threads to scan for meritable posts. I no longer have the time to hunt through 4 or 5 pages of off-topic threads looking for the odd gem.
I am installing Teamspeak on a VPS, and I hope that this can be used to discuss posts with foreign language students as they make the posts. Comments about this would be welcome.
I totally agree. Ones of the most interested members on the forum`s health are already creating some awesome projects to help others to understand how to become a good asset in here. The Fit To Talk project is seeking to increment their users in order to make good quality posts in here, as well as the chat room, in where I participate and every day we discuss the forum and how to improve some people behave in here. A hidden board only will be an allicient for those really concerned about the forum, something hard to see in these days, the Ivory Tower is a great example of how few are participating and I also have come to believe that even the discussions in there are not as succulent as they should. So maybe this is a futile effort. From my perspective, hidden boards can be interesting only if they have some kind of amazing content or a worthy discussion. If they are dead, as the donators one, well, the people is not going to feel attracted by them... |

I mean: you have your posting count, and your activity will increase 1 per day, so, NO, you don`t need to write and write a lot of useless post in order to augment your activity, for it will grow every 14 days, more or less a post per day. So, if you just write a post per day is enough.
