Can we talk about Demarcus Cousins’ stat line last night with a few minutes… He put up 31 points and 9 rebounds on 71% shooting with also 4 assists and 3 steals. He did all this with only 23 minutes of playing time. Looking like the old Sacramento Boogie. If he can stay healthy and continue getting back to his old self, he’ll be one of the biggest steals in the NBA. Denver better lock him up with a good contract now. Staying healthy and playing well is likely to increase his value 10x if he can keep it up. Even for trade bait he’s worth the contract risk.
6322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to Bill Miller, the collapse of Russia's currency is good for Bitcoin on: March 05, 2022, 07:24:27 PM
With the amount of coins that Bill Miller owns, I suspect anything he comes across is good for Bitcoin. He’s in the business of making money and right now he needs Bitcoin to go up to make money. He’s a great ally for the price go up crowd though. You can bet he’s talking with other billionaires and cornering the market. It’s investors like him that make me think Bitcoin could still go up quite a bit. With deep pockets and connections like Bill Miller has, it seems like Bitcoin has too much support behind it financially to fail.
6323  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to the forum plagiarism rules? on: March 05, 2022, 07:21:32 PM
My guess is, the forum lost so much traffic they can't afford to ban people anymore. When this forum was having its golden years, they would ban you for committing plagiarism forever. As always, once you bend a rule a little bit, soon that rule is gone completely. This is what we are experiencing here probably. It is becoming worse every day.

You may be right, but only admins can answer that question.
After all, permaban lately has not been as “perma” as it was in the beginning.
As far as I remember, at first it was impossible to remove permaban and later exceptions from permaban were allowed, and at the end even removing permaban became almost common.
Perhaps we are now looking at a new phase of punishing members, where the first warning is given through a temporary ban, and no more through permaban?
This is a big change compared to the cases we had before on this forum, like the one from RegulusHr (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5097792.0), who had to wait two years for his permaban to be forgiven, with the overwhelming support of the local community.

That's what I said.

Permanent Ban used to be permanent. Then it was semi-permanent, and now there isn't any kind of banning  Grin Back then no matter how big you were in the forum, no matter how many green ratings you got, you would get clipped once you broke a rule. It is because the forum was filled with the quality posters and their posts.

Now there isn't even anything left to discuss, other than the price.

I think the administration probably didn’t want to waste any more time with ban appeals. I’m surprised to read that bans aren’t happening anymore. I’m sure it was a constant headache having to deal with people complaining about being banned. They can just get around it with a new account anyway, so it’s questionable how effective it is as a strategy. I’ve seen established members over the last few years directly disobey direct requests in the face of empty threats, so I think it’s probably the result of not wanting to deal with this stuff disguised as free speech.
6324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 05, 2022, 07:17:44 PM
Warriors vs Lakers on ABC tonight. I think the way they Warriors and Lakers have both been playing it seems like the Warriors should be able to easily take this one. You can never count LeBron out when he’s playing against Steph, but I feel like the Lakers have some in house issues that are keeping them from winning games. That clubhouse must be a pretty stressful place to be right now. You can expect both teams to bring their best though for this nationally televised game.
6325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is refusing to block Russian customer's crypto wallets. on: March 04, 2022, 11:35:44 PM
Binance is refusing to lock account belonging to Russian customer's, what is your take on this?
Binance owes this to their Russian customers who have been loyal to them over the years.

Not just that, but a lot of Russian people do not support this war.  They are facing the consequences of actions they don't want to be happening.  Their stock market is wrecked, their currency is fading fast...  It isn't their fault.  Many of them are probably seeing Bitcoin as a lifeline to protect their life savings.  It would be wrong to lock these people out of the system just because of a government disagreement.  There is KYC in place to make sure that Putin isn't using Binance to avoid sanctions.  I think a lot of people just want to cause Russia the most harm possible, without thinking about the fact that there are real people suffering on both sides of this war, and I'm sure a vast majority of them wish it had never happened.
6326  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Funded Casascius Brass .5 and 1 BTC on: March 04, 2022, 11:30:36 PM
What are you looking to pay?

This is always the question.  I have a 0.5 BTC Casascius Brass that I may be willing to sell for the right price.  It's ungraded.  Drop me a PM with a ballpark figure and I'll let you know if we're close to a deal.

Good luck with your search!
6327  Economy / Speculation / Re: ₿ not going below 40.000 (probably) on: March 04, 2022, 06:31:55 PM
We’re terribly close to $40K to have people saying it won’t fall below that level. We seem stuck in a trading range between $33-43K. We’ll need a move well above $43K and to hold it before I’d count out heading back to $33K. We’ll see how things play out. A lot of uncertainty hanging above the market right now with the gox and finex funds set to possibly hit the market in a few months. It’s starting to feel like the moonshot to $200K won’t be happening for a few more years. It is great to see short sellers getting liquidated instead of longs though.
6328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 04, 2022, 10:02:58 AM
^^ I think he also adjusted, he try to go back to his bread and butter, that is to go to the inside. But there are times that there are no bounce on his feet, so the young guys can follow and block his shot. And he often uses his left which is not his strong suit. I guess it boils down to that chemistry issue, and for me as much as we want him to stay as a Lakers, WB should go somewhere else.
It's just sad to see that there's so much hype on Westbrook when he joined the Lakers but his production is not what we are expecting. I don't know his future but I think he will be better if he will be in a team that no other superstar except him.
Yeah, maybe it was just a total mismatch with the team, or he is really no longer on his prime years. Last year he was injured with he was still in the Wizards uniform, but since there is no superstar there, except Beal, he prosper. But with the Lakers line up, it's hard for him to do what he wanted to do because he is no longer the alpha and so his game goes down. Now, they have lost against their domestic rivals by a big margin again.

It seemed like a good match because Westbrook would be able to tire out defenses and give LeBron a break but it hasn’t worked out at all. Instead of the best of both worlds they’re getting the worst. Tonight was a good example. They’re taking turns getting easy rebounds and throwing up shots to get numbers. They aren’t anywhere near the efficiency level they need to be to win games. Carmelo Anthony has been the only consistent shooter all season. I’m not even sure if they’re going to get a shot at a play in game at this point.
6329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Step 1 would be to freeze all U.S. accounts" on: March 04, 2022, 02:36:50 AM
I saw that and thought it was a pretty typical answer from someone overseas. Still funny though. No doubt the United States military has been in other countries but tend to view the world only from their/our position. I’m glad people are taking that stance though. Surely if all of us United States citizens were cutoff from services because of the bad choices of our government it would seem unfair to us. So I think he makes a good point, even if it’s a shot at my own countrymen.
6330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: March 03, 2022, 10:32:10 PM
The Metaverse seems like an obvious next move for gambling outfits.  Possibly even issuing betting slips as NFTs.  That would be sort of cool.  Imagine gambling in the metaverse and watching the sporting event on a metaverse tv alongside other bettors.  It would be a pretty cool way to watch a game.  Maybe people would even throw their losing NFT gambling slips on the ground when they lose.  LOL

Virtual reality and the metaverse seems like the obvious next step for many industries, but as with most new things I would expect that gambling and porn lead the way.  Considering this is crypto and gambling and crypto go hand and hand, I think legitimate metaverse casinos will be popping up sooner than anyone expects.
6331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: March 03, 2022, 10:29:24 PM
This fight won't even happen. Not now , not in the future or ever.

Agreed.  It has been obvious since Tyson himself said that no fight between him and Logan Paul was ever even in the works.  As I've stated before, there was a short talk about Jake Paul fighting Tyson, but Tyson saw that it was just an attempt to make money off of his name and he wasn't interested.  The fact is that Mike is too old to be fighting.  Sure, he could still kick nearly everyone's ass, but the risk of injury or permanent health issues is too much for someone in his position to risk.

For that reason, I think this thread should be locked.  It's been slapped around far too much for something that was nothing more than a publicity stunt by promoters who were hoping they could get this fight going.
6332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 03, 2022, 05:24:12 PM
The Nets are playing again today. Still no Ben Simmons in the lineup but Kevin Durant is returning from injury so that’s one piece falling into place. Hopefully Ben Simmons hits the floor soon as well. I can’t wait to see how he fits in with KD and Kyrie.

Another big game on TNT tonight is the Lakers vs Clippers. I think when the Clippers signed Kawhi and PG13 we all thought these LA matchups would be a bigger deal. With the Clippers crippled by injuries and the Lakers playing terrible basketball, this matchup is turning into a snooze fest.
6333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 03, 2022, 08:10:21 AM
Harden is suddenly playing like he was before this year. I guess the rule changes weren’t as responsible for his dips in numbers as was thought. It’s looking like him and Embiid are the pairing people had hoped they would be.

Congrats to the Phoenix Suns for getting their 50th win of the season. With 20 games left to go, they are on their way to having one of the best regular seasons in recent memory. They’re going to have a tougher postseason schedule I think this year, but it’s clear their sights are set on another trip to the finals.
6334  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Biggest Loser Raffle] 1oz .999 Silver Bitcoin Binary Round on: March 03, 2022, 06:44:52 AM
1 winner and 15 losers is the same as every other raffle basically.

The difference in this case would be the winner gets theirs for free and all the losers are the ones who pay for it. A bit different then one person paying. Mostly just more fun though.
6335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBAY might accept BITCOIN on: March 02, 2022, 09:55:57 PM
I thought I had read that this wasn't a "might" situation and that they would begin rolling out Bitcoin support on the 10th of this month.  Was that just something I made up in my head?  It seems like there was a lot of publicity and news coverage if it was only a might accept Bitcoin scenario.  Considering PayPal already took this route of implementing some Bitcoin services, it doesn't seem like a stretch that eBay would follow suit.  The question is how their implementation will be on their payment network and if sellers will still be liable for potential chargebacks.  I sort of don't think eBay will implement this correctly because, well, eBay has struggled with payments and scams since the beginning.  It will be a tightrope walk to see if they make that problem better or worse with Bitcoin.
6336  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Biggest Loser Raffle] 1oz .999 Silver Bitcoin Binary Round on: March 02, 2022, 09:52:31 PM
I’ll also suggest doing one with 8 losers and 8 winners.

That would be bigtime.  I sort of like the idea of doing a lot of separate raffles to keep the fun going as long as possible though.  I have thought about doing one where there's 1 loser and everybody else wins, but that might be a bit expensive for the loser so I'm not sure how many people would be willing to participate.  It would be fun though.

Another idea might be one where there's one winner and 15 losers.  That would make it possible to offer a much more expensive prize without any one person breaking the bank.  I sort of like that idea but it remains to be seen if there would be enough support.  I'll see if I can offer a few of these types of raffles and if people are having fun and want me to expand on the idea, I certainly will.  I love doing fun things like this and it seems like activity in this section of the forum is starting to heat up, so many some more fun crazy opportunities will come from me in the near future.  Smiley
6337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building my first mining rig became easier with bitcointalk. on: March 02, 2022, 09:47:42 PM
There's definitely a lot of people here with decades of experience building PCs.  Some of us have even been around since the days of CPU mining and have built just about every type of mining rig there is.  Personally, I loved the early days of tweaking and building liquid cooled GPU rigs.  Nowadays as mining profitability depends mostly on power consumption there is less room for expensive and super cool rigs, but it's still a fun hobby.  I'm glad you were able to utilize this forum as a tool to get the information you needed to make the rig building process easier.  Don't hesitate to come back and post your story and we always love pictures of mining rigs.  Maybe soon you'll be advising others on how to best build their mining rigs.  Smiley
6338  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake charging $3.09 on a $1.69 withdraw on: March 02, 2022, 09:40:44 PM
OP has not withdrawn 1.69 USD Grin
the minimum you can withdraw is just 0.0005 btc equal to 22 USD
The complaint is based on difference between transaction fee vs blockchain fee.

Yes, it is good to actually understand what the OP is saying.  I think judging them on a single transaction is a bit harsh.  I don't know how their system works, but I assume that they aren't calculating every fee separately for each transaction.  Likely they set an amount to pay for fees and adjust it if needed.  They also likely build in a little room for error so that if prices for transactions do shoot upwards, they aren't left holding a bag of fees for users.

This complaint seems to be like saying that a shipping company charged your more for shipping than they paid the post office to ship the package.  What people should understand is that there are other costs involved as well.  Packaging materials, employees to box up goods, etc...  I think an extra dollar on withdrawals is not much and if that's what they need to do in order to keep withdrawal fees down (they recently lowered them a lot) then I'm fine with it...  Surely there are other costs involved besides just the tx fee for stake.
6339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance donates $10 million to support Ukraine on: March 02, 2022, 09:36:29 PM
I saw him (CZ) being interviewed on television and the news anchors were giving him a hard time about not cutting off support for Russian users.  CZ was clear that no companies are cutting off services to Russian citizens (Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) so why would he?  I actually like that he was considering the situation that many Russian citizens find themselves in and was making it clear that he views Russian citizens and Russian politicians separately.  He also made it clear that nobody is anonymously trading on his platform (debatable) and that KYC is implemented for all users.  I don't think he intends to help Russia evade sanctions with his platform, but he does want to help citizens safeguard their wealth, which I think is admirable.
6340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: March 02, 2022, 09:33:25 PM
Lakers definitely deserves to sit this one out. I mean it is clear that they are not good enough to matter during playoffs. So why would they work themselves harder and play in the playing tournament and then maybe get lucky and be in the playoffs first round and play 4 more games just to get swept? Just take an early break, stay away from the playoff this year and figure things out during the summer. It is clear that they are not going anywhere meaningful with this team.
The problem here is they are the Lakers and they have pride and image to protect. Fans will be more disappointed if they can see there's still a chance but the team decides to quit on them.

If they have LeBron, they have a chance...  Obviously they're struggling right now, but they've been dealing with injuries all season.  They have the talent to go far in the post season, they just need to get Brody out of his slump, get AD healthy, get Dwight more playing time, and Kendrick Nunn still hasn't taken the floor for them this season.  Nunn was supposed to be one of their starters and a big piece for the team.  It isn't a shock they've been struggling without him.  Not saying he's the greatest, but he does seem to be a missing piece.  I hear he could return this month, and AD may return next month.  If all goes well we could see a healthy Lakers team enter the playoffs, which would be dangerous for any opponent.
