6341  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥BITSLER > $20,000 Wagering contest + $5,000 Free challenges + Cashback/Chests on: November 22, 2019, 04:24:58 PM
What a great month with the forum's 10th anniversary and the Bitsler's 4th anniversary!

I created my account today and there is no requirements when creating account, but then I did email verification, notification, password setup and 2FA activation for my account. I still don't know that site requires KYCs to be withdraw money from Bitsler platform?

I scanned the Terms and Conditions, and I did not see terms for KYCs. Did I miss something important (KYCs)?
Some I get from T&C:
Quote
14.4. We have the right to carry out “KYC” (Know Your Customer) verification procedures. The access to your user account may be blocked or closed if we determine that you have supplied false or misleading information.

14.8. If a user who has deposited funds on Bitlser refuse the KYC verification procedure and/or the wagering requirement, his funds will be sent back to the address from which they come, to make sure that he didn't use Bitsler to mix his coins
From the point 14.4. I don't know the site already requires KYCs or not.

I agree the guide is too long and complicated.
Personally I have never verified a pgp signature from a file. (I am almost shame to admit lol)

However, I feel safe enough just by downloading files from the official website (just check social media and see if the links from there matches the address you have). I always double check everything as well..  addresses on device , on the website, etc.
It is like a basic common sense, however few people do .
All things are always complicated at beginnings.
For crypto newbies: How to get a bitcoin address? How to send bitcoin to other people? How to install a bitcoin wallet? Which wallet to use? What are differences between public key and private key? How to backup and recover wallets from seeds? How to do KYCs? And more. All of them are complicated.

I had same feelings when I joined crypto in the late of 2017.

Another example is account in the forum: How to secure it? How to sign a message to use as ownership-proof? Yes, it's complicated for guys don't know how to do.

It is unnecessary to sign a message for above purpose before one realizes account can be hacked and without a sign message the recovery will be more difficult and takes more time. Then, they will do it.

The same thing with wallet verifications, IMO. The more repetitions we do verifications, the faster we finish and the more comfortable we feel about wallet verifications.

Nothing can save you if you don't manage how to do it safely.
No wallets, no Trezor, no Ledger Nano S, no exchanges.  Cheesy

This thread presents basic steps to do verifications. For more details, please read more sources.

There are so many bad guys around, and there are so many phishing sites on which you can see and download dangerous faked cryptocurrency wallets. If you get trapped by faked wallets, I am sure that your funds will be stolen. It's just a matter of time that how long bad guys will steal your fund after you installing and storing your fund in faked wallets.

Days ago, the news about the compromise on Monero site gives me a reminder to make the thread for newbies. Honestly, it is a very good opportunity for me to learn more about verification. Previously, I only knew and did verification for Electrum wallet. Now, when I made this thread, I have read more sources, from Bitcoin Core to Dash, and Monero; and I definitely and fortunately learned more valuable things.

This is another lesson for newbies: Learn first to improve; then help others. From progress to learn and help, you will become more knowledgeable; then you will be more safely in crypto.

Why do you have to verify wallets before using them as storage of your fund?
"Prevention is better than cure".

Basic steps:
You should verify three steps. More things to do if you want (if yes, read more in mentioned sources).
  • Hash values
  • Developers' public keys
  • Verify the installer signature.
  • All things you use to verify, get them by yourself. Don't trust what I quoted below

Download gpg4win software at https://www.gpg4win.org/
After downloading, checking integrity (verify) the downloaded file first.
Yes, you must verify first, don't trust even you download GPG4win from its official website. It is very terrible for you to download a phishing gpg4win software to verify any cryptocurrency wallets.

You can see how to install gpg4win software Verify binaries on Windows (beginner), here
The full guide is here: https://www.gpg4win.org/package-integrity.html
There are 5 methods to do that. I would like to recommend you to read the section: Download and Install Gpg4win:
Get it SHA1 hash value here: https://www.gpg4win.org/package-integrity.html
Copy and paste the hash value you get from the Command prompt to using Find on that page to compare your hash value with the one provides on official site of gpg42win.
They are matched so I download a legit GPG4win software.

In addition, you can use the Windows PowerShell (Admin) - for Windows 10 - instead of the Command prompt.

Electrum
Download it at: https://electrum.org/#download

Verifying Bitcoin Core (theymos). I don't use Bitcoin Core but if you use it, you know what to do: Verify first, don't trust.

Nice work, looks good now! I wasn't able to see the captcha code or the whole like in the address bar at any time.
Thanks but in fact it is not good as I expected because I know I have to make it better. I have to learn more to make better videos.

If you are not planning to use it in the future I don't see why you should.
Just in case, fella.

I signed my message for this account months ago. Thank you for the reminder.

Hi dannybrown,

You made a great game and I nominated screenshot of your game to the 10th anniversary art contest, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg53143374#msg53143374.
You can apply them by yourself, officially, but if you want to do it, do it now because the contest will end very soon (few hours, ~ 5 hours, left), at Nov 22 18:04:28 UTC

Hey guys,

I don't know you are real users or spammers but please don't post as "Thank you/Thanks, ie." because those posts considered as spam AFAIK.
I appreciated your compliments if you are real users, as being said it is kind of rule violation. If you think my thread is helpful, bookmarking it for later reference.
If you are real users, it's time to read rules: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]
< snip >
1. Such posts as "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

6352  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin Signature Campaign Query on: November 21, 2019, 01:56:04 AM
1. Is it allowed to wear an Altcoin signature on BitcoinTalk?
Yes, you can if signature you wear does not violate these rules
6. No linking to phishing or malware, without a warning and a valid reason. [e]

10. No embedded NSFW images anywhere. NSFW content must be marked accordingly.

11. No linking to illegal trading sites.

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

Quote
2. Is it allowed to run an Altcoin signature campaign on BitcoinTalk?
Sure, but remember to following forum rules, especially the rule #11 above.
Quote
3. Is it allowed to make signature campaign payments through an Altcoin?
I saw campaigns paid in altcoins so I guess they are fine with the forum rules but altcoin give-aways on the forum are not allowed.
Threads, posts related to on-forum altcoin give-aways will be trashed and posters in those threads will be banned (I saw some high ranked members banned due to this).
Quote
15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways. [6][e]
Additionally, if you want to manage your campaigns, you have to go through post history of applicants before accepting them and after that very carefully check their post quality before counting elgible posts for payments. Because naturally, most of posters tend to spam to get easy money.

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

2. No off-topic posts.

After the appearance of bump score, advertisements in altcoin boards (announcement, tokens, bounties) have less effects.

I raised the ideas for Whitelisting, spam score and community vote to eliminate spam with signature that seems to be ignored.
6353  Other / Meta / Re: Merit spree is underway. on: November 21, 2019, 01:42:30 AM
I think its far more likely that he's exhausted his brain. I'm only about 20 or so pages into that thread, and its been every couple of days I've been going through them. He's been doing it for hours at a time, and some of them are from newbies which can't embed images so he has to go through the extra effort of navigating to the image.
Honestly it is my first time I witnessed continous hours of actively works in the forum from theymos. I know he probably does this but we don't know what he does behind the scenes. This time, with the art contest and his merit-sending activities, we have good evidence that he works hours-in-a-row for the art contest within last few days.

For newbies and restrictions to display images, I guess theymos probably write a script to automatically display images post by newbies. It is not too challenging for our beloved admin. I don't believe theymos does this manually. Cheesy

Initially, he planned to distributed at least 500 merits but from now I think he might distribute at least 5000 merits.  Grin
- I will give out a ton of merit, probably at least 500 in total, based mainly on effort.
I joined the contest and received some merits from theymos too, but merit is not what I truly care about. I would prefer to get this badge but I don't think I have chance to get this (based on merits I received from the contest and what top highest receivers got).
- Between 1 and 20 (depending on number of submissions) people will receive art contest recognition badges: , based mainly on community consensus of who had the best art. In judging consensus, I will be substantially but not entirely influenced by the total amount of merit your art received.

UPDATE:

- All Sportsbook functions fully restored.
- Virtual games and some providers integrated
- More providers being integrated

Hoping to complete the update by Friday.
As always, the PlayBetr team have demonstrated their very good capability to develop and manage the site as well as gradually building their reputation up in the highly competitive online casino industry.

The company has run its site for too long and its campaign has run over many months. So far, I have not yet seen any serious complaints on PlayBetr. By the way, sometimes I notice that there are ad banners of PlayBetr sparsely display on some sites I visit. So I want to know it is the efforts to advertise more from the team or it is just kind of AI-algorithmed advertisments trigger by Google.

Anyway I am waiting for the Friday.
6355  Other / Meta / Re: Feature suggestion - Turn embeded images into URLs + thread topic hijacking prev on: November 20, 2019, 04:50:40 PM
Sure readers can click on URL link of image to see what it is but it will be a problem and might distract them from those images, then might miss some valuable information.
They don't have to click on an external URL; they can just click on the "Quote from:" and go back to the original post. If the person replying really feels the reader needs to be able to see the picture and their response on the same page, then they can just re-embed the image as they normally would. I suspect such cases are few and far between, however, compared to the number of people who just blindly quote pictures and clutter up a page.
I understood and it is why I think a fixed low resolution (low enough to not clog threads up) for images in quotes might be a solution but you clear things out. Thanks.

I know this is a brand new account you are using for this video but just a piece of advice in case you decide to make a video from your main account. Pay attention to all details, especially sensitive information.

At 1:32 in the video it is possible to see the entire captcha bypass code. Same thing on 1:39 in the address bar before you cover it up. Take a look at 2:07 also and 2:13 when you click on the login button.
Thanks. I edited and updated new one but I will practice more to improve it with better version.
I will sign a message with that account later, too.
6357  Other / Meta / Re: Feature suggestion - Turn embeded images into URLs + thread topic hijacking prev on: November 20, 2019, 04:38:44 PM
I have seen a common complaint about images being quotes and being loaded over and over again in threads making the page jump around and increasing load times. I was thinking a simple way to solve this issue would be to convert embedded images in quotes automatically into URLs. This way the image is still referenced but lazy people quoting it won't spam up the page. Of course it could be turned into an embed manually if needed.
I agree to disagree.
Automatic replace quoted images into URL links looks a good solution but there are some disadvantages.
URL links (in quotes) will blur original contents (infographics, charts, ie.) and make readers a litle bit confused what posters pointed out. Sure readers can click on URL link of image to see what it is but it will be a problem and might distract them from those images, then might miss some valuable information.

I propose to restrict a fixed resolution for all images in quotes.

Along a similar train of thought, another issue I have seen raised before is when people modify the topic subject in a thread reply, and people quote them without even noticing. Before too long the thread subject title is hijacked. A feature to make a subject title the same as the OP automatically even when quoting would be useful for this, because when this is abused it can be distracting from the actual discussion.
I disagreed because OPs have to update their threads over time and at different updates their threads need to have different titles for posts inside threads (not OPs). I think only allow OPs to edit titles of OPs or posts in their threads are more appropriately.
Any posts quote post A or replies later the post A of OPs with the title "project X, update in November 2019" will have only one title "Re: project X, update in November 2019". But once again, I think there are many people disagree with my suggestion too.

I don't know if you missed it, but @Steamtyme already made few nice videos for new members, here is his thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5194117.msg52803618#msg52803618
Thanks. I knew it and knew that Steamtyme has made or released only two videos so far.

Regarding your video, i think it would be good if you can record your voice too, explaining what you are doing.
Sure but my voice is not good so it is better to have a silent video. I also left some important note for that video and I think it is enough.
6359  Other / Meta / tranthidung's Youtube videos for bitcointalkers. Welcome newbies! on: November 20, 2019, 08:39:39 AM
I tried to make my initiatives so many times and this time I would like to challenge myself to make videos to give newbies guides on very fundamental things of the forum.

I am sorry if my video have some mistakes because this video is my first one. In fact, it took me hours to make my first one.
CapchaBypass for accounts on Bitcointalk.org
I will make better version for that video later.
I also made some notes for that video
Quote
- For all ranks, even Brandnew (the account I used for the video is a brandnew)
- keyword combination: bitcointalk.org (to avoid phishing forum) + capcha + bypass
- Log in once to see your capcha code
- Save and secure your capcha code to avoid hack (by bruteforce your password)
- Once you log in with capcha code, you will no longer see the Capcha section in the Login Box.

I will try to learn more and make more videos, with better quality, of course.
When I made them, I will leave them all here.

In the meantime, please let you know your opinions. Should I make more videos or stop here? Cheesy
6360  Other / Meta / Re: List of threads (with url links and thread titles). Can it be done with SMF? on: November 20, 2019, 06:42:44 AM
And yeah, I agree with @tranthidung, it'd be better if it is added in our profiles.
I can not disagree with you.

@Loyce, @PrimeNumber7, @DDmrDDmr, @Suchmoon whoever got the time please make a thread with all hidden stuff. TIA!
Here: Updated List of Bitcointalk Hidden Pages/Post. Are they all hidden stuffs ? I don't know.

Question:

Can I choose to sort my topics chronological in descending or ascending orders?
Code:
https://bitcointalk.org/gettopics.php?user=1292764;sort=gettopics,desc/asc
or
https://bitcointalk.org/gettopics.php?user=1292764;sort=gettopics,first/last
I tried and could not get it done.

For me, now it is not a problem because I have not made too many threads.
For others who've made so many threads, it will help them to save time when searching through their topic history.
