1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The chink in the armor: traces of centralization on: April 26, 2024, 10:13:15 AM
The most recent case is the Samourai wallet. At first look it is an open source software, it talks about CoinJoin, looks "decentralized" and all is good. But at the root of it, this is a centralized company and when you use it you are relying on a centralized coordinator (server) both of which could always been shut down and they eventually did get shut down.
The reminder is good that people mostly believe that Decentralized Exchanges are actually decentralized. From your example, I hope they can see a red flag that centralized companies and teams are behind these DEX.

At the end, there are centralized entities and people that can be targets of governments and regulations so that these DEX can be shut down any time with a sanction from national government and international cooperation.

Seriously, I am not exaggerating. I have been in crypto since 2015-2016, active on this forum, checking every single crypto casino and I have never seen a crypto casino that become so popular without firstly getting itself announced on this forum.
I disagree here because my observation is opposite than yours. It is true that years ago, cryptocurrency projects and gambling businesses mostly appeared firstly on Bitcointalk. Years later, there were migrations from Bitcointalk to their own forums for blockchain projects and casinos.

Nowadays, it's more common that casinos exist a while before their team figure out that they can get some good exposure at Bitcointalk. It can be from one of their team members or introduction from third party marketing people.

You can notice that if a flow is like a casino launches their announcement thread here and shortly like hours or some days later, they launch a signature campaign, I am sure that there is a signature campaign manager who told the casino team to launch their ANN thread in the forum.

As of now, nothing is guaranteed however, we are planning something big. Metawin owner is very much interested in bitcointalk so yeah, there's a chance that something bigger will be announced soon. We are also planning competition here for bitcointalk users. That might be something many would be interested. We are planning to make it more lucrative.
Nothing was finalized yet for upcoming changes but at least from your information, I know that Metawin team already assessed many results from their appearance in Bitcointalk, the signature campaign. It is good news for signature campaign participants like me, because it's very likely Metawin team will continue it.

More lucrative, I don't expect it but if the team provide something better, I appreciated it and will contribute as best as I can for exposure of Metawin brand around the forum.

Looking forward for this exciting news!
Me too.

I think the theme with reading multiple pages ToS is not even about lazyness but about self-respect
some terms of service takes weeks to read, days... who has all this time? a lot of it is just shouting "take my data" and letting it be...

The inconvenience of long ToS is true but it explains why a platform has FAQs page for more summary information on most basics and it is why they have Customer Support Staffs. You can have Bot support first, then if necessary, you will be directed to human customer support staffs.

These resources on website, bot to human can help guests or users get almost basic information they need to use a platform.

I see it when I login to the website,

You can see it instantly and other rewards in the competition. And it's really attractive as the price is big and so everyone should really participate.
MetaWin team run many types of advertisement and promotion for their business, users and community. Prizes and awards are very good as they are big enough compares to many other gambling business.

Their appearance on the forum is good in general because of many contributions from them. Forum members have exposure to a good gambling platform and have another good option to choose. Furthermore, there is given chance to participate in their signature campaign that has been lasting a while and as I know, the campaign will have some big changes next week.
6  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: April 25, 2024, 02:49:50 PM
Even if he stayed I don't think that report numbers would be much bigger since big chunk of his reports (not only his though) were made for posts that were several years old and it became pointless to report those posts after change in how mods/admins handle those kind of reports (which was a good move imho).
Ratimov is a main contributor of spike in reports in 2022 or 2023, and I read his complains about moderator works to deal with his reports on very old posts too. Then easier policy on plagiarisms, AI tend to make reporters are less interested in making reports. Ratimov wrote that he disappointed about it and no longer wanted to report 'bad' posts.

Ratimov now gone, his account was locked, and recent months, it seems more bans on plagiarisms and AI-generated posts. Hopefully it will give reporters some motivation to get back with their reports.

One of his complains
2000 sent reports per month. It's even worse than I expected. 2000 reports for 167,000 posts published during the same period on the forum. I wonder whether the quality of posts on the forum has increased dramatically, or whether reporting itself has finally died as an activity. Something tells me it's the second option.

One reply to his complain.
Quote from: hilariousando
Reporting posts from 2018 in dead threads that have already been locked really isn't necessary. Sometimes it seems like people are going out of their way to find stuff to report. Posts that have been edited shouldn't be removed anyway as someone can just edit their post and then report it to try make sure it's fully deleted and people can try cover their tracks this way. There probably should be some sort of statue of limitations on certain stuff because posts in dead threads from years ago really isn't an issue. If you want to report stuff there's thousands of posts made a day by shitposters so it's not like you'll ever run out of stuff to do.

Or people know (Freebitco) it's a casino not an exchanger. That's the reason liquidation spread gap price are high in their casino, one things people should know (CASINO is CASINO) don't mix of them.

If you just want to exchange the token, perhaps just use (exchanger) not casino. Because most regular people who are not in the casino sector are mostly gonna to trade on exchange rather than in casino.
Casinos can provide that feature but they can not provide too high liquidity by many reasons. If people want to have bigger liquidity pool, smaller slippage, they can pick big decentralized exchanges and swap the token.

If they want convenience and don't want to leave the casino, they can use the internal swap feature or convert feature (some casinos provide it) with well understanding about smaller liquidity pool and higher slippage.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: April 24, 2024, 02:18:33 AM
Generally there are less reports over time and after sharply increase from late 2021 to first half 2022, the trend is very severe downwards.

According to the same logic in your analysis, I think that the result will most likely be a draw. The level of the two teams is similar, and as much as they have good offensive capabilities, they also have excellent defenses. I don't expect it will be easy for either of them to score.
Football is not match and it is not logic in most of matches.

The match between Arsenal and Chelsea is such an illogical match that ended as a very big win for Arsenal. Even Arsenal fans did not imagine that their team will beat Chelsea with this big result. 3 points are what Arsenal fans hoped that their team will achieve after this big clash but they got a much better than just 3 points.

With this big win, Arsenal leads Premier League with 77 points but Manchester City have 2 more matches and Liverpool have 1 more match. Differences of Arsenal against Liverpool and Manchester City are 3 and 4 points, respectively.
10  Other / Meta / [Update Apr 2024] Forum Merit distributions on: April 24, 2024, 01:17:22 AM
I plotted some charts for daily and monthly merit distributions. It's a first update after more than 3 years.

For complain about decreasing of merit distributions, the box plot can be helpful. The median daily distributed merit is 722 (see the red line). With this box plot, you can see the trend is decreasing but this 2024 year is still above the median and better than most of years, except years 2022 and 2023.

See details with following charts.

Then I tried the opposite
Code:
-1
And it says invalid. This means "-" placed at the left side makes a number but at the right side is just a sign.
Please read my above post, the quote block.

For negative merit number, it was reported as a bug, and theymos fixed it. Makes sense if now you can not send any negative merit to demerit other users.
12  Other / Meta / Re: [theymos] Bug with Merit (for sending) on: April 23, 2024, 04:07:44 PM
Is it a bug, though?

I just merited you with:

Code:
1-.

Seems like it just ignores everything that isn't a number, which feels like the ideal behavior.
I don't know but I knew there was a bug with negative number when sending merit, in early hours or days of merit system.

Seems like theymos fixed it and caused other bugs!  Grin
13  Other / Meta / [theymos] Bug with Merit (for sending) on: April 23, 2024, 04:02:31 PM
I typed 1\ when I want to send 1 merit and it works.

To test it again, I typed 1/ and it works too.

Tested it again with 1~, and it works too.

Can these ones be considered as bugs with Merit button?

Please check it theymos.  Cheesy

I guess the box should accept number only, not string.

You know, one idea pops up in my head, and I want to hijack the merit system by using exponential but it does not work.

HRF allocated a total of 33 BTC, of which 1 BTC will go to Hal
I am curious when reading this and want to know how HRF distribute this prize. No surprise that they do a right thing by sending it (or planning to send it) to Hals' wife, Fran Finney, and it is also good to know the widow plans to donate it to a charity.

Quote
Fran Finney, his widow, will accept the inaugural Finney Freedom Prize on Hal’s behalf and plans to donate the monetary prize of 1 bitcoin (BTC) to a yet-unnamed charity.

and given that the prize will be awarded every four years, there will also be prizes for the periods 2012-2016, 2016-2020 and 2020-2024.

It will be interesting who will receive the awards for the remaining three periods, and of course it will also be interesting what the members of the forum think about it.
Some names I can think of because they are important in Bitcoin history.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Artificial Intelligence Make Bitcoin Much More Valuable? on: April 22, 2024, 02:48:15 PM
yes correct, but do you think AI can move BTC or crypto forward by making it act as currencies? Just thinking about the future, auto payments etc.
You can use Bitcoin as a digital currency, a payment method, a store of value asset, and more. It has many use cases and you are free to pick any use case you want to use with Bitcoin.

There are API, trading bots and AIs don't change too much in automatic trading with bots. From API bots, you can have AI trading bots with latest developments of AI but Bitcoin is here, with or without AI. It can have more use cases in future when adoption becomes better but with time, you will less likely see any actual game-changing use cases for Bitcoin.

Like gold, now it is as it is, do you hope AI to change ways human use gold in society?
Will AI increase or destroy value of gold?

Answer is No for both questions.

Southampton are going to Leicester City this week for a super important 3 points. Leicester have been leading at the top for a long time in Championship but losing a few games recently, suddenly now Southampton can smell a promotion position.

Playoff is of course the consolation prize but nothing is guaranteed there, just look at Coventry City who lost on penalties last time and last night in FA Cup!

Can Southampton join Newcastle again in Premier League? @notblox1 our expert, do you think this is possible?
Southampton is a club with very good academy and scout team. They successfully grew up many star players like Shearer, Walcott, Bale, Luke Shaw, van Dijk and some other players who were less famous like Lallana, Schneiderlin,Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Beattie.

I am not fan of Leicester City and Southampton so I wish best for both of them but I have more impression with Leicester City with their magic season years ago. Southampton is in my mind but they did not create much impression like Leicester City so I would like to see Leicester City returns to Premier League. Even they wasted many points recently and are facing with risk from play-off match for promotion.

Either Leicester City or Southampton will be promoted, they will face with lot of difficulty next season because quality difference between Championship and Premier League is very big.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Risk management is very essential during this post-halving season on: April 22, 2024, 02:09:58 PM
You must have plans for your investment, start with what is your capital source for investment. Next, risk management such as where to store your bitcoins and what will you do with your bitcoin: holding, trading and if trading, will it be Spot, Margin or Futures.

The market is always here, pre- or post-halving, it is here and there are times it is more volatile than usual. If a person use leverages, when market is more volatile than usual, leveraged positions will be liquidated.

Advice, in general, not only post-halving:

Luck will also play a role however investment is different from gambling wherein one's decision making determines profit or success. Decision making on the other hand can be improved through learning or having knowledge of what investment you will be engaging yourself with.
Learning to gain knowledge, practice to gain experience. Together they will help an investor to have better understanding about the market, price cycle, psychology cycle and fud cycle so that they will become stronger with time. When they have these factors better, they will be less likely vulnerable to fud and will feel more comfortable with investment in Bitcoin.

Important to note that they must have good financial and capital management for their investment and their life beyond investment too.

In Bitcoin, volatility is obviously present.
Volatility is what traders and investors need. Without volatility, we have a dead market.

The best advertisement in the forum is through siggy camp. They can run a promotion as well but as we have seen in some of the promotions from other casinos especially not a paid one, only few really would join. This is just my personal observation, but I maybe wrong.
If look at advertisement types on the forum, what is a most common type, you can conclude that signature campaign is a most favorite advertisement type for many companies, not only gambling sites. So naively we can say it is a most cost-benefit efficient type for companies.

I agree with you too because signature campaigns can provide highest exposures to forum members through many posts that can spread in many boards inside the forum. Other types like advertisement banner (that is suspended many months ago), contests, events are like supplemental advertisement types only. Companies barely run those advertisement types but don't run a signature campaign.

What's that casinos actual monthly revenue? If you could answer that, you could answer how much is being bought and being burned.
A big casino with big business and good profit will be able to assign part of their profit for buy back and burn program. They need to have good profit, then make decision to assign some percent of profit for this program. Big or small fund for buy back and burn program mainly depends on their business income and profit.

If Shuffle can provide their users information, like you are discussing, on their user dashboard, it will be very helpful. I don't know Shuffle team have this information for users to access publicly with their accounts and dashboards or only release this information in regular report like weekly, monthly or quarterly.

The best is allow user to have it anytime, permissionless through a dash board. If they don't have it at the moment, they can consider to build it.
