I will never buy Gigabyte gpu's ... I've heard that their fans are shit ever since I've been in this game.
642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can I make my own shitcoin? on: February 15, 2018, 02:09:51 AM
I would like to make my own shitcoin, for education purposes only. Learning block chain and such. Is there a make a shit coin for dummy site?

Ask Bad Crypto ... They made their own shit coin for like 200usd and have given millions of them away over the course of the past six months.  They are worthless today, but they were free.
643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: leaving home with 5 gpu miners paranoid of fire safety on: February 15, 2018, 01:39:56 AM
I'll add to Digital Drug Lord's unrealistic suggestions ... halon fire prevention system.  Lol.
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: leaving home with 5 gpu miners paranoid of fire safety on: February 15, 2018, 01:39:07 AM
taking 3 months of vacation during which I will leave my place empty with 5 miners running, which currently consuming about 2KW power around the clock. I am contemplating whether this is good idea to leave it as running or just completely turn off. Biggest worry is fire safety:
wires can tangle, fans can seize, chips can heat up and sparks can fly. Add to that it is around March to Mid July during which several of tough heatwave is expected.

- option 1:  leave it off and forfeit 3 months of mining revenue.
- option 2: leave it as it is (very anxious about this one)
- option 3: this is interesting one which I am contemplating:
equip home with wireless cam, also just purchased remote on and off switch for motherboard which can be controlled by web, so i can turn on when it is not hot, still need to setup. Cram all the miner in a smaller room and leave the A/C on.
To reduce further the fire risk, I am thinking about putting huge metal or tin foil around the ceiling, floor and around the miners in case sparks fly. I know it is quite paranoid and unliely to happen but if it ever happens, I bought a barn.

If i cant make my mind between three option, most likely going to choose option 1 which is safest one.

sell your cards get water cooled

problem solved.

Yeah, right ... Lol.

Hay gays... well, that started out nicely Grin

HAHAHAHA ....  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin ... That was the funniest thing I've seen on here in awhile.
646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power supply acting up on: February 14, 2018, 01:43:39 PM

Is this the point where I should look at placing additional cooling on the rig to increase its stability? And if so , should I look to cool the GPU cards first or the PSU?

Thanks in advance for any sort of tips or advice

Is your rig in an open air frame?  Why not do both at the same time?  20" box fan at the back of the rig works well for me.  I have one on the back of each of my 6 gpu rigs.  Prior to that, gpu's and psu's were hot to the touch.  Not so much anymore.

Grin oh man you are hero member, if that account isnt bought you should have some experience how crypto works.

I can assure you it is not bought. I used to own a faucet and stuff loooooong time ago...

I used to be positive like you, but now I am not. When I started mining I made 3 euro a day with just 1 GPU. For me it has never been this bad.
The world has changed, that's why I think BTC won't rise that much anymore. It's not a bad thing -crypto will never die, but for me it is not making me enough money anymore. Good thing is I have a few GPUs for when I buy my Oculus. Cheesy

I'm certainly going to keep some good gpu's for VR when I decide call it quits with gpu mining.

even if you havent been nice to me iŽll help you, dont connect your riser with sata
youŽre welcome

You can use sata powered risers.  Just don't power more than two risers with one sata cable.  I have 24 gpu's running just fine that way.

bullshit, it will work for weeks or months but sooner or later youŽll get problems

Maybe so.  I've just never heard anyone say that before.  I guess we'll see.  Not sure what that has to do with the OP's problem though.  I don't think you read the entire thread.

yeah remember when your rigs start freezing, gpus dont detected, error 43 then its time to change riser powering

I will remember.  What exactly is the reasoning for it to happen after a period of time has passed?  I'm curious.

good question, i had this on several rigs after weeks/months running stable 24/7
changed connection to molex or 6pin = all problems gone

also if you psu supports single or multi rail, single rail is better for rigs

Interesting.  What exactly is happening though?  Would just replacing the risers with new sata powered risers solve the problem for another several months?

Started mining again. Made 3 euro the last 12 hours with my 4 GPUs (1080 ti, 1080, 1080, 1070). That's terrible...

The most profitable bitcoins I ever mined, were the ones I mined when it was unprofitable to do so.

think about it

Those who are worried about daily profits shouldn't be mining to begin with.

Is there anything else I can do, rather then get new cables? I bought an EVGA PSU and run EVGA GPU's. All require dual 8PIN connectors, but the power supply only came with 8/6 pin. WTF?

Which PSU did you buy?  I have GQ's and G3's ... They all came without enough cables.  for 6 gpu's split between two psu's.

Supernova G3. They came with the cables, but it only came with 8Pin to single 8pin and 8 Pin to 8/6 not 8+8 or 8/6+2.

These are what I bought when I thought I was going to need them ...

https://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-Video-Y-Splitter-Adapter-Supply/dp/B00A3OVG4W/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1518542005&sr=8-9&keywords=8pin+splitter

However, I'm not saying it's safe or will work, because I just don't know, and I haven't tried them.  Maybe Phillip or someone could offer his opinion on them?

What I dont understand is, even the GPU's came with Y splitter's, but they are all 8pin to dual 6 pin.

Yeah I don't understand that either.  All of mine came with some 8pin to dual 8pin and I had enough 8pin to 8pin to use two of those on a couple of gpu's.

I have some 8pin splitters that I thought I was going to need, but didn't end up needing them, so I haven't tested them yet.

Zzzzzzzzz. OP was banging the same drum, and eagerly awaiting mass miner suicides, in 2013 / 2014 when I bought a bunch of HD7950s. They've paid for themselves many times over, and are still very profitable on CryptoNote coins.

One of these years he'll be right. Or not.

Agreed.  I'm just not sure what the root cause of his insanity is.  He doesn't exactly say, but I feel that he has lost a lot of money in crypto.  Or at least lost potential gains when opportunity was knocking ... Much like Richard Hart ... Love Richard Hart, but he is damaged right now.  And he realizes it.  Richard is a public person, Metroid is not.  So I'm worried about Metroid.  I just don't want him to end up hanging or shooting himself over something that will all be ok in the end.

There are so many things in life that are way more rewarding than money.
657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GPUs miners beware! on: February 13, 2018, 02:27:31 AM
Its reportedly using DDR3 memory...

6 cores on each board
32gb on each board
3 boards per machine
of DDR3...

So one machine would be the equivalent of an 18gpu rig, providing that the asic cores are roughly as fast.

Nowhere near as fast as a 18GPU rig - There's no point here, the DDR3 memory is no were near as fast as the memory on a regular GPU - Not even close.

ETHash is memory bound, it doesnt matter if the asic has 24 cores per machine, it will be limited by the ram speed as all the calculations are done in RAM.

This is why this machine is fake, there's no point really, they would require GDDR5 ram, which is really expenssive compared to regular ram, but its also much faster - Secondly, there's 0 need for 32GB of RAM, a ASIC made for ETHash would not have 32GB of RAM as the algo requires FAST ram so stuffing it with more RAM than needed will simply drive the price up even more, making it even less attractive.

The algo that ether runs on, is asic "secure", you can indeed create a asic for ether mining, but it will be no more effective than GPUs as you are limited by the RAM speeds - They might be cheaper than purchasing X GPU's since they can probably get away with cheaper overall hardware, but there's basically no point as their supply would be limited in a much larger scale than GPUs.

Oh an Metroid, not sure why you are like this, but just stop what you are doing, the only troll here is you.

this is awesome, bout time someone else pointed out how much of a troll Metroid is. maybe his roids are acting up again ROFL

I heard that he got medication for the roids.  It's not 100% confirmed, but I know myself and others in the community certainly wish him well as far as his health is concerned Smiley  Pretty sure that I gave him this number already, but I'm going to post it again ...

Metroid ... If you truly need help ... The number for the suicide hotline in the USA is 1-800-273-8255.  They are avaiable 24/7. Please do not  hesitate to call.  You do not have to do anything drastic.  I want you to get back into your right mindset and be well again.

We are all here for you.

Total agree with you.
GPU have many coins out that can mined and someday it would bring you very nice and surprise profits.
You can easy to switch to any coins not like Asic one.

I like how you trolls keep so optimistic about the whole thing. "hey, don't worry, we will always have a trollcoin to mine and get rich fast" hehe, so much fun, you trolls are hilarious and yet so deceptive to each other, but don't worry reality will hit your troll face like nothing else hehe

hehe
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: February 13, 2018, 01:08:17 AM
Please, I would like any troll to enlighten other trolls as possible replacement trollcoins for gpu mining if ethash and equihash are done for other than cryptonight. As I get info before every body else about this, I can assure you there is no cryptonight asics within the roadmap for now. So what are your thoughts about as per the title "GPU mining will die in 2018!".

Only one of my rigs currently mines equihash, one mines cryptonight.  The other three mine coins on other algo's ... I haven't mined ethash in the past three months ... It's already pretty much dogshit compared to other shit coins.  Bring on the ASIC's!  I'll be in line and ready for the first batch of ethash and equihash ASIC's from whoever it may be ... I'd much rather buy from Samsung than Bitmain, but we'll see what happens.
660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal receive payment. Noob question on: February 12, 2018, 10:42:33 PM
Best place to query for Paypal help would be the selfhelp section of Paypal itself. https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp

Eitherway - check the help section for specifics relating to your query, but money received is usually available in your Paypal account for spending as soon as Paypal confirm its processed. You can use this balance anywhere you use Paypal or for sending to others.

Withdrawing to a linked bank account can take a little longer and depending on the amount may need you to do the following.
https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/how-can-i-lift-my-withdrawal-limit-faq558

I have new verified account with attached card, if i receive $500, can i use this money (example shops) without any holds?
I think when you only use your PayPal money and not some card then you will not pay a fee in online transactions. So if you buy a pizza for example with PayPal account you will have no fees. But to transfer your money to your bank account you will have fees.
My question: if I receive 500$ to my new verified personal account from another personal account via transfer goods and services, this money get hold 21 day or not?

If it's a new account, this is normal.  Sometimes they do it, sometimes they don't.  I've had it happen with a new account though.
