Ah, excellent. I presume some savvy developers read that channel. This should attract more development talent.

Sorry caveden, I'd like to have a look at those links but youtube is blocked and the ssh connection I had to the outside world has also been blocked. All the most useful sites on the web have been blocked and I don't have a credit card to buy a private vpn connection.
Does this help? http://mullvad.netThey take Bitcoin.

People aren't stupid. You lie and it will bite you in the ass. Don't we always argue for openness and transparency?
You must be thinking of wikileaks. I'm pretty sure bitcoin is all about the opposite of that. Bitcoin isn't open and transparent? Perhaps you should go over to GitHub and download the source. Compile it and do a file comparison with the distributed executables. Take a look at the source and compare it to the documentation.

I do fear, however, that as the internet becomes regulated more and more, the day may soon come when it will no longer be possible to initiate TCP/UDP connections to arbitrary ports on arbitrary IP addresses
I doubt that it will ever get to this point, unless we are already in a full-scale revolution. That would be like telling people they couldn't leave their houses without getting their destination pre-approved by the government. I mean, look at the stink over "net neutrality," even though this was a relative non-issue. I do share your concerns, however. Please help us by thinking up possible scenarios and the workarounds to avoid them. Nice first post, by the way. Welcome aboard.

Would you be willing to share the part of your script that polls the Bitcoin exchange rate?

Excellent. There's still the problem how to buy LR though.

There's bitcoinlaundry.com, but I'm not sure it is effective. All the transactions are still in the block chain, so you could just compare timestamps and amounts. Am I wrong?

A lot of states seem to be flexing their 10th Amendment rights these days. It's a good trend. As I understand it, the US dollar must be accepted as payment for all debts, but it doesn't have to be the only payment method.
I haven't seen much from you lately. I hope you've been hard at work on your stock exchange.

There is also a list of local exchangers at bitcoinbuy.com, though you'd be hard pressed to find a more reputable exchanger than Madhatter.

I like your Mises quote. Ever read Alongside Night?

How about Bitcoin is to Paypal as email is to fax. They are both electronic transmission methods, but Bitcoin and email are lower in cost (nearly free).

You just answered my question. I was googling for "bitcoin zen cart" earlier when bitcoingadgets.com popped up. I thought: "Cool. I wonder whose site this is?" Now that I know it's trustworthy, I'm going to go back and order one of those TV-B-gones. Do you really have 1000 in stock? How much trouble was it to get Zen Cart working? I've heard it can be a pain. Oh, and since you're the Mad Hatter, I think you should sell magic mushroom tea.

Generally, within an hour or two. I just need to wait until the Bitcoins are confirmed, and then I will manually complete the transaction.

If you plan to use it for email, I recommend the Enigmail plugin for Thunderbird. It uses gpg, which must be installed separately.

You could write a script to extract the USD/PLN exchange rate from this screen: http://www.xe.com/currency/pln-polish-zlotyOr, maybe this needs to be a requirement of the project, i.e., the acquisition of real-time exchange rates.

I would pledge 100 BTC to see a Chinese (simplified) version of the wiki.
I've updated the project description. Anonygas, could you take a look at the wiki and give us a feel for what you think is a reasonable way to break down this project and what the budget should be? The wiki is obviously a moving target. Thanks.

I am offering a service whereby I am selling wireless refill minutes for BTC. I will offer minutes for most carriers (U.S. initially), including the carriers listed at the end of this post. The service will be manually processed in the beginning, but if there is sufficient demand I will find a way to automate it. How to buy minutes: 1. Send an email to bitcoin@nym.hush.com, indicating your carrier and what type of refill you wish to purchase. Example: Virgin Mobile $20 top-up. 2. I'll reply to you by email with a quote and a Bitcoin address. Your price will essentially be the face value of the card converted to BTC at the latest MtGox price. There is no exchange fee, commission or sales tax. 3. When I receive your payment via the Bitcoin address which I provided in the email, I will email you back with the PIN. Here is a list of the carriers supported: Airlink Mobile Airvoice Express Airvoice GSM Alltel Wireless AT&T Go AT&T Feature Card Cricket PAYgo H2O Wireless I-Wireless Jump Mobile Locus Movida Net10 Omni Prepaid Oxygen O2 GSM Page Plus PlatinumTel Ready Mobile PCS Safelink Wireless Simple Mobile STI Mobile T-Mobile Pay As You Go T-Mobile Monthly Tracfone Tuyo Mobile Verizon Prepaid Virgin Mobile Questions?
