641  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Equipment on: April 19, 2017, 02:37:58 PM
Good day. May I ask how mining really works technically? And what is the composition of the mining equipment? What is the difference in mining equipment of bitcoins and altcoins? I would like to learn how to make one, just for the learning and fun. Thank you.

Mining equipment is just specialized hardware to solve the mining problem. Different altcoins use different algorithms and may require different hardware which is why Bitcoin ASICs won't work a lot of altcoins.

Designing your own mining hardware is a large undertaking and won't be easy unless you just plan to make a PC with a bunch of GPUs to do some altcoin mining.

This is quite interesting. Imagine that there are two choices: the first one is an eight-year old boy who obey all the traffic rules and drive at the speed limit. The second one is an adult, who never bothers about the traffic rules and always drive under the influence of alcohol. Which one will you prefer?

I'd probably pick the kid in this case. However, it still isn't safe for a kid that young to be driving. Especially since any accident that did occur could become fatal.

I'm also wondering how he was able to reach the pedals and see above the steering wheel at the same time lol. Must have been a tall 8 year old.

Was the vehicle automatic or manual?

i'm interested in this too. my dog can drive an auto. this is hardly the achievement of the century but i'm glad everybody's ok.

It was almost certainly it an automatic transmission. There is no way an 8 year old is driving a manual lol.

I still haven't seen all the previous ones which I need to watch before I watch this one. Can't remember which I've seen and which I haven't. Maybe I'll have to do a marathon sometime lol.
646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What keeps you coming back??? on: April 19, 2017, 02:40:38 AM
What keeps you coming back is our emotion, we want to earn more that is why even if we lost everything we hope that we can recover what we have lost by playing more of which is not good.

Yeah, also the desire to recover your losses drives a lot of people to continue gambling. However, this usually ends up causing more in losses and isn't a good method of thinking.
647  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Transaction with Secret on: April 19, 2017, 02:38:50 AM
Alice puts 2 BTC and Bob puts 1 BTC in 2-of-2 multisig address. When she gets the asset Alice takes 1 BTC and Bob takes 2 BTC.

Yeah, I think that mda's method of using a 2-of-2 multisig is a good idea. Both parties would need to agreen on the payment details and sign off on it. The only downfall is that either party could prevent the transfer of funds entirely. However, they wouldn't really have motive to do so as they wouldn't receive their share of the coins either but its always a possibility.

I don't think you would want to store the password hash within the blockchain. Its all in the method of escrow. You could code some sort of escrow service that awaits the confirmation of a transaction and releases the password but I don't think you can do this entirely on chain.
648  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Payment Processing on: April 19, 2017, 02:32:27 AM
I'm looking for an individual that has an advanced knowledge of bitcoin payment processes both incoming and outgoing.  I'm fully aware of what Coinbase, bitpay, and blockchain.info have to offer and that is not what I'm looking for.  I want to figure out the most cost effective and expedient way to send $1 in bitcoin to people without getting killed by fees.  This would include bundling transactions and any other magic someone can come up with.  I'm willing to pay for this service if you can help me.  Drop me a line to discuss.

Besides grouping the transactions into a single transaction, I'm not sure if they are really any other magic ways of lower the amount of fees a transactions will require. Its depends on the number of inputs and the size of the transaction so reducing both of those where possible will lower your fees.
649  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 3 digit game prediction on: April 19, 2017, 12:58:36 AM
i would seriously be interested if he has the local authorities aware of this? The Philippines government has had huge crackdowns on this kind of thing and im sure they would be very interested in knowing all about this one also!

i will bet in the outlet, its legal

Seriously..?
It is illegal in most of the countries mate. And is there anyone who tried this and got some winnings by the OP..?

I think it's abbreviated as PCSO in the Philippines, it is owned and controlled by their government corporation to raise revenues to fund health, and other medical programs for charitable purposes. I've actually read about it once or twice and is actually legal if you buy them on booths or outlets in certain areas of the country. Anyways for the 3 digit prediction, what are the assurances that we get back the bet amount for sold out prediction? How do we know you did bet the amount or are you just trolling around and harvesting bitcoins from newbies or who else. This post really made my day!

Yeah, its a legit lotto in the Philippines and the official lotto pays better odds than advertised in this thread.

There is also no guarantee you'll get paid as no escrow is in use for what is advertised in this thread.
650  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: April 19, 2017, 12:53:20 AM
It looks really funny but you can easily loose all your money here. Already done that mistake once Cheesy Trust me its harder than it looks
I agree with you its easy to lose money in this site i never win i always lose everytime i play i think this game are not good. But why still many people want to gamble in this site they always said that they win, maybe i have no luck to game thats why i always lose.

Its all a matter of luck and how you choose your bet sizing. You are likely to lose in the long run due to the house edge unless you are lucky though.

All gambling should be treated more as a form of entertainment than a way to get rich quick. And its a fun / exciting game which is why people play it.
651  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - GET YOUR CUT FROM DAILY TREASURE CHEST! on: April 19, 2017, 12:47:05 AM
It's good to see players are increasing in the site, seems the update is working well and effective in attracting new players.  I do not know if it is just a none peak time whenever I visit the site, but I saw around less than 40 users every time I log in  before the update but now I seen an increase of around 35% users.  Btw, alex was in the chatroom and made it rain but well I missed the rain just a couple of minutes lucky me  Embarrassed.

Nah, you can't be more unlucky than me, regarding rain at BitDice.
I never been online when the rain occurs, so... Cry Grin

Hahaha, same here.

But still, you have made a nice amount lending out bitcoins, whilst I have gambled away most of my coins on Bitdice and Coinroll lol.

Must mean that you need to hang around in chat more often Tongue

The rains are happening at all times of the day so be sure to hang out more often lol
652  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What happened to my bitcoins? on: April 19, 2017, 12:42:53 AM
I could use some help in reading the information on my transaction id.

Post your transaction ID here and we can take a look. Without it, we won't be able to tell anything.

Which wallet did you send the coins to? Were they sent to a Desktop wallet or an online wallet? Any extra details you can provide will be helpful.
653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game? on: April 18, 2017, 04:00:26 AM
Knowing when to quit is definitely a difficult task when gambling. A lot of times I find that I set a goal and get super close trying to reach the goal and end up busting. However, if you don't set a goal, it is just as easy to think you can keep winning until you hit a really bad streak and lose it all. Always a constant struggle trying to find the best spot to stop at.
654  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum & Ledger Nano S on: April 18, 2017, 03:54:00 AM
Hi folks,

i bought a Ledger Nano S to store my BTC on a hardware wallet. I think i'm a little bit more safe than on cloud based wallets.
The Ledger Nano S has to be administrated by a google app. I don't like this concerning privacy because nobody really knows what kind of infos google gets.

In Ledger Nano S i created 5 Accounts for different income streams - keep things transparent.
When trying to connect Ledger Nano S to Electrum, only 1 Account is visible.
Is there any possibility to import more than 1 account from ledger?

Thanks for help.
Bodyworks.

I believe you can do multiple accounts from the ledger by specifying the BIP44 account number as shown

First create a new wallet and select "Use hardware device"

Then enter the index of the wallet on the ledger you wish to use

You'll want to increment this number by 1 to access each next wallet on the device during the wallet creation phase.
655  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to sync cold/offline and watching/online wallets? on: April 18, 2017, 03:47:15 AM
Greetings all!

This is definitely a beginner question so thanks for your patience and help. I have browsed the forums and used google extensively but can't seen to find an answer to the above question.

I have a cold and a watching wallet setup using Electrum. I know how to send BTC via watching wallet and by signing using the cold wallet (thanks to excellent documentation on Electrum site) but I don't know how to sync cold wallet with watching wallet so both show the same balance.

A little more detail about my scenario:
I set up cold/watching wallets using Electrum. They both show 0 BTC to begin with. I then sent some coins, say 0.2 BTC, from an online wallet, say LBC, to Electrum watching wallet. Now the watching wallet shows 0.2 BTC but the cold wallet still shows 0. What do I need to do so that the cold wallet also shows 0.2 BTC? My cold wallet by the way is not connected to the network.

(Just as an aside, I understand that I can always spend the 0.2 BTC even if the cold wallet doesn't show it (by following the process in the Electrum guide and signing it via cold wallet) but I prefer to have my cold wallet show the full balance of BTC I have transferred to the receive addresses owned by this set up. The watching wallet will always get the right balance owned by its receive addresses as its online/connected to the servers. So its really the cold wallet that I want to sync so it shows the same balance.)

Thanks!

As far as I know, you can't make the cold wallet show the correct balance without connect to the network. That is the point of the watching wallet though. To be able to see the live balances of your cold wallets without risk of compromise to the funds or keys.
656  Economy / Gambling / Re: seasoned poker players on: April 18, 2017, 03:44:17 AM
The downside to ACR is that they will will make you verify personal details to withdraw ( large amounts at least ). I know someone who won a decent sized tournament and deposited with bitcoin but in order to withdraw bitcoin had to verify personal information.
657  Economy / Gambling / Re: seasoned poker players on: April 17, 2017, 06:48:10 PM
Sports books or anything casino related is of no
Interest, just NLHE.

Is nitrogen open to u.s. based players?

Nitrogen Sports has NLHE tournaments and cash games. They have their own casino in addition to their sports book. You don't have to do any verification so you should be able to play from wherever.

Seals With Clubs is another decent bitcoin only poker room that you may want to check out. They have a number of decent tournaments but not a ton of players at the moment.
658  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 3 digit game prediction on: April 17, 2017, 06:44:44 PM
Seems like you'd be much better off just playing the official Swertres rather than doing this. For the official lotto, its only 10 PHP and you win 4500 PHP for getting the correct prediction. Thats a much better payout than the 100x advertized here. 450x is much better than 100x . There are also prizes for getting a pair or getting the 3 numbers in any order.
659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to organize your crypto data on: April 17, 2017, 05:40:38 PM
Do you have your own spreadsheet to keep updated with the crypto world or do you use any interesting tool that already exist in the web? If so which one is that? Willing to share it?  It seems that tools for managing crypto data/info is missing?

I don't know as to what you are referring with crypto data but if you want to keep track of all your bitcoin I will show you what I do. I keep different wallets for bitcoin obtained in different ways, for example I keep a wallet named SIGNATURE where I keep coins that I earn from signature campaign, I keep a wallet named GAMBLING and it is used only for gambling, I keep a wallet named ALTCOIN MINING and I keep all coins I get from mining with my GPU-s.

In the end of the month I have an excel spreadsheet which I update all the data accordingly, for example how much I have earned from mining, how much I have lost/gained from gambling and have a sheet named total which after I exclude the difference I see my net profit or loss.

You can apply this method to crypto data as well.

I use different wallets from Electrum as it lets you create as many wallets as you want.

I like the idea of keeping separate wallets for different activities. Keeping a separate wallet for gambling is a great idea as well to help ensure you don't mix your funds. I think I may setup some extra wallets to better separate my funds and better budget any allocated to gambling. You'll still need self control to prevent taking funds from other wallets, but definitely seems like a better way to organize.
660  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: When/If all Electrum nodes go offline or Electrum version becomes too old ... on: April 17, 2017, 01:28:19 PM
Suppose someone wants to do long term cold storage. I am talking about 5-10 years.

Suppose in 10 years Electrum no longer exists because all the nodes are down or the current version 2.8.x just becomes obsolete.

Is there anyway to save a copy of the wallet with the seed and be able to see the private key, and then later sweep that address to another address?

It is not feasible to do cold storage for such a long time using any software. Bitcoin could change completely in 5-10 years.

Manually storing addresses using paper wallets would probably be a more ideal method for such a long term cold wallet. You could also easily export the private keys if you are using Electrum for a cold wallet. It just gets more time consuming if you use a large number of addresses unless you use a tool like previously mentioned to regenerate the addresses.
