Seems Dhoni is not in Team management T-20 WC plan anymore, as far as i remember Dhoni wanted to play in T-20 wc. Truth to be told Dhoni needs to speak about his retirement plan asap, may be everything is behind the curtains or we can only wait for his farewell game?
It is really unfair to do that to Dhoni as majority of the Indian fans want to see Dhoni in the team and give him a farewell as he is the first T20 world cup winning captain where he took a young team and surprised everyone by bringing home the trophy and that kick started the T20 trend in Indian and hence IPL was introduced and became a huge success, so give him a good farewell as a token of respect.
I wont say its unfair to Dhoni but i would put it like this " Preparation for T-20 WC next year" and I strongly believe that everyone including team management wants to give Dhoni a farewell series or game. as of now management eyeing on T-20 WC that's why they are focusing on Rishab Pant and Sanju Samson (batsman who can act as keeper) as a wicket keeper batsman. who knows if they both fail then there might be some chances for Dhoni to play in T-20 WC.

"We are moving on" - MSK Prasad on MS Dhoni

Quote
End of the road for Dhoni?

"We are moving on". MSK Prasad, the chief selector, stated thrice through the course of the press conference that the selection committee will "continue to back the youngsters" and persist with them. "Going into domestic cricket, getting his touch back or thoughts about retirement, everything is purely his personal [decision]," Prasad said. "We've already laid the roadmap for the future, I'm sure you can see in the way we are selecting the teams."

I am not hesitant to say that this guy is one of the nicest and intelligent guy i have ever encountered in the inter web. #Nohomo

No one needs to take my word for granted, please check his post history and check his content.

I believe he might be a good choice for MS because he has history of sending all s-merit to good posts only.

So my support for fillippone aka Italian stallion.

Those in favor would argue that if any venue in India is not able to attract the crowd for Test Match then " Rotation policy of venue" it sound illogical. Virat's concern was only regarding Test format and he's right when he make case for " Empty Stadium". All venue i mentioned attracts crowd in the Test Cricket, i might have missed couple of venues tho.

T-20 and ODI are not problem in India, historically shorter format always attracts crowd anywhere in India. So it should be same in Darjeeling, Gangtok, Imphal etc if any games are schedule there in future.

Test crowd numbers are going down, even in grounds such as Eden gardens, Wankhede and Kotla. The cricket fans are rapidly shifting to the T20 format at a rapid pace. And does it really makes a difference if the attendance is 10,000 instead of 40,000? Because nowadays, most of the revenue comes from the TV rights and not from the gate collection.
Numbers are going down but i have seen thousands of spectators in Kotla ground even for Domestic matches so its not rocket science to attract crowd for International games. Historically Eden gardens and Wankhede attracts crowd for Test Match (Hope we are going to witness good crowd for IND vs BAN). I believe attendance of 10k makes a big difference. if each day 10k people attending the game then total amount of spectators are 50K for 5 days game. BCCI should work on how to increase 10 k mark to 20K and so on.

I agree with you that most of the revenue comes from the TV right but we can't deny that Empty stadium looks bad during the international game.

~snip~

Maybe like promoting certain Test tour with status just like Ashes does the trick. You know how good the Ashes crowd looks, wished we had the same in here. I think choosing particular venue where decent crowd comes is ok but they should target to increase that figures as well.
Agree, In England and Australia they have fixed ground for Test Matches.

Eden garden ( Kolkatta)
Kotla, (Delhi) - not in winter though.
Mohali (Punjab)
Chinnaswamy (Bengluru)
Wankhede, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Hyderabad

There are a total of 37 first class sides in India and limiting the test match hosting rights to just 10 of them would be plain discriminatory. Recently some of the smaller boards have built very beautiful cricket grounds, such as the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium at Dharamshala and Jharkhand States Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium at Ranchi.

India is a vast country, and I won't be surprised if international cricket is played on cities such as Darjeeling, Gangtok, Imphal, Srinagar.etc in the near future. All these cities are very scenic and people would love going to these localities. Also I have heard that the road and rail connectivity to these cities are going through upgrades.

Afghani spinners and Sandeep from Nepal are in demand as far as any Short-format leagues are concern. Good for individual players who get to sign Kolpak deals and reaping the benefits but SA's skipper raised concerned about these Kolpak deals recently.
I have a doubt here, i am seeing this Kolpak deal, what is that actually and regarding The Hundred, is it a parallel league like the Big Bash and the IPL. Why is there any Indian players being selected nor any other Asian team members in that team but Afghan players are selected.

EDIT:

100 ball cricket  Shocked yet another form of cricket being tested  Grin.

As far as i understand Kolpak is a residency rule which comes under Europeon union, this rule allow athletes (cricketer) to participate in county cricket (English) with one twist that they can't represent their home country. that's why we see cricketers from another country migrate to England. South Africa losing good amount of domestic players because of this. Brexit might sort things out in this regard.

100 ball cricket is a English league.

~snip~
Well.. if I am not wrong, then Indian players (including the domestic players) are banned from taking part in the T20 leagues which are being run by the other boards. Only the retired players are eligible for such tournaments. If you remember, Yuvraj Singh retired from international and first class cricket, before signing up for the Global T20 tournament in Canada.

BCCI doesn't provide NOC to any Indian players. which sucks but when you look at big picture then its smart move from BCCI.

^ Yeah, i am looking forward to it. though it didn't receive good response in Social Media from die hard county fans let's see what happens. I hope BCCI comes with similar thingy in future atleast for domestic players apart from Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Interesting idea of fixing some venues for Test series but will it really solve the problem? I have my doubts . Maybe people don't feel like coming since Test is kinda slow and some people think it as less exciting. Still what goes on trying? Lets try it.

There are good amount of places in India where Test match attract good amount of crowd no matter if its weekend or not and then there are few places which already has rich history of Test Cricket. guess we might go back to Jagmohan Dalmiya's 10 fixed venues formula for test, sounds good to me and day night format can do some magic too.

but they become paper tigers abroad. The same can be said about the bowler as well. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, none of the Indian bowlers have the ability to perform abroad in a consistent manner.
Guess you missed the Seamers performance in 2018.  Batsmen and captaincy (Selection) let down Indian team otherwise Indian team was supposed to Win in SouthAfrica 2-1 and In England all batsmen performed badly be it English or Indians, Except Kohli and English Tailenders.

I never said that the Indian seamers performed badly abroad. On the other hand, they are the only group of players performing on a consistent basis. Others (batsmen and the spinners) fail to perform in a convincing manner when matches occur outside the subcontinent. Well... Virat Kohli is an exception, as he performs irrespective of the nature of the pitch and the strength of the opposition bowling attack. And the Indian batting record abroad would look pathetic, if you take out Kohli from the playing XI.

Well i get the feeling that you were talking about Bumrah only. But please don't think that i am defending poor performance of Indian team in SA,ENG tours.

Anyways, Interesting statement on Empty Stands from Indian Captain. Yesterday Kohli said that for test cricket India needs to fix 5 test Venue in India and abolish the rotation policy for Test cricket only, no need to touch for T-20/ODI.  (i agree may be 5-8 fixed venue for test).

We should have five strong Test Venue in India: Kohli

Quote
"Look, you want to keep Test cricket alive and exciting, I totally agree with the fact that we should have five Test centres at max. It can't be sporadic and spread over so many places where people turn up or they don't," Kohli said on Tuesday (October 22) in Ranchi. "We have been discussing this for a long time now, and in my opinion we should have five Test centres. Period."

India play at well-established venues whenever they travel overseas to destinations like England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand or even Sri Lanka. Kohli said that knowing the venues and the kind of challenges that come bundled with it, becomes a challenge it itself

Interesting Batting stats in WTC 2019 so far, i see Sir Jadeja on this list with the average of 57. Damn dude is silent killer!! Grin

You don't add Sir before his name for nothing. He is not a normal player. He has delivered everytime when India needed him. He is one of the finest all rounder India has.

BTW interesting to see Smith's stats. The flop show of Australian top order dropped some duties on Smith's shoulder and he boy-o-boy he delivered it so well and helped to retain the Ashes.

Jadeja literally rediscovered himself as a batsman in recent time be it World cup or Test Match. really hope he continue to perform like this with Bat-Ball-Field.
True, Smith is One Man Army in Red ball cricket, Dude doesn't care where he plays or his mates performs-or not. Interesting fight Smith-Rohit-Kohli.... Indian captain lagging behind tho.

I agree. There are some who think he is just a bits and pieces player,

Opera Becomes First Major Browser to Enable Direct Bitcoin Payments

Quote
Web browser Opera now allows making payments with Bitcoin (BTC) directly inside the browser.

The company announced the news in a press release shared with Cointelegraph on Oct. 21, detailing that Opera’s 350 million users can now send and receive BTC directly from the browser, as well as use the cryptocurrency for purchasing goods and services on e-commerce websites.

Additionally, the browser now enables adding a Bitcoin and TRON (TRX) card into the built-in Crypto Wallet to keep track of the cryptocurrency owned. Charles Hamel, head of crypto at Opera, commented on the new feature launch:

Quote
“We believe that opening our browser to more blockchains, including Bitcoin, is the logical next step to making our solution more relevant to anyone who has a Bitcoin crypto wallet and would like to do things with their cryptocurrencies beyond just keeping them in an account.”

Its seems the World Test Championship is India Vs the Rest.
Its start..we are going to see other teams moving up soon.

~snip~
Edit: I believe that a test series has a minimum of 2 test matches and I don't think 1 test match will be a series  Tongue
My bad, yeah its 2 match series... about protest from Bangladesh players, they are right on this and they should not bend the Knee. without satisfactory payment how are players supposed to sustain their lives, considering the fact that Cricketers career is very short and their demand is genuine.

~Snip~
I wonder if Vihari's gonna come again at one point. He played 1 Test in the series right? Rest Aggarwal stole it with his performance.
Guess Indian are going to follow 5 bowler combination for home series but everything depends on pitches and opponents too. We might see some changes during England and Australia visit this year or next year ( don't remember the exact timeline)

@RapTarX : Its 2 test match series, i was wrong in my previous post.

World Test Championship final still very far but India playing its cards right so far, next series is against Bangladesh (One 2 Tests) where Indians can fancy 120 points more and widen the gap more, unless Bengali tigers upset them which is unlikely but who knows what future holds.

Ladies and Gents follow on coming soon .... SA 130/8

~snip
They lost 6 wickets and they will be forced to follow on and India will be winning by an innings, the pitch is turning and the South African players are finding it difficult to face the spinners.
They are not in mood and it looks like they already gave up. Indians are not giving them any chance too. Seamers bowling bouncers, Fielders hitting the Stumps, Spinners turning the bowl on the same pitch, where SA's bowlers didn't find any movement at all except first hour in day one.

I can sympathize with Proteas's fans.
