6441  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 07:15:57 PM
Yes I read it. Nonsense? It makes sense to me as you want bitcoin removed because iran and no up to good other countries cannot access SF. Why would I care if the US govt seen my ip accessing bitcoin files from SF? Is bitcoin illegal in the USA? I wouldn't trust any of these country's "Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria" either.

I'm secretelly hoping for your country to get into one of those lists. maybe then you will understand that the inhabitants of a country are not the same as their governing powers.

Ask me how i know that... because unfortunatelly my parents lived in a country under an oppressive regime for many years of their life, in fact it was like more than half of their life. All that stopped when the said country army ended that oppressive regime in 1974. If your reasoning were to be correct, then the army would not rebel against the government to free the people, because as you said, those countries(and subsequently the persons that live there, army included) are up to no good.

Grow up dude. and take your head out of your arse, you sure need it.

1 more thing: Bitcoin is not illegal in the US... YET! and i hope when it reaches that point you will be the first person to get arrested and sent to gitmo for the rest of your life
6442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Need a Real Bitcoin Online Store, not "retailers" who just price gouge 15-20% on: August 17, 2011, 07:05:30 PM
go here: http://loja.pmakordeoneditora.pt and buy some music. I promise they are not retailers. In fact i dare you to find a price comparison from any other shop for any of the tracks for sale there.  Roll Eyes

Just one thing: The prices are in euros and the conversion to BTC is done real time when you make the payment, therefore your argument that things are overpriced when the price is marked in bitcoin is not valid here lol
Oh, and don't tell me €2,50 is expensive for a music track, beatport sells them for the similar prices(€2,57)

Now, put your money where your mouth is. You'll make an indie label very happy if you buy at least one track Smiley
6443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins have been stuck for 3 months now. on: August 17, 2011, 06:44:59 PM
I have 2 transactions that have been 0/unconfirmed for almost 3 months now. One was on 5/27/2011 and the other was on 5/28/2011, they are both sitting at 0/unconfirmed and have been since the transactions started. It's not a problem with being unable to connect, as I currently have 84 connections and a full block chain downloaded, I just want to know if those are lost forever, since I was assured that could never happen. If not, how can I get them back?

I have been able to receive and send transactions successfully since that time, it is only those 2 from may that will not go through, and I am stumped.

Start your client with the -rescan flag and see if that helps. If not maybe someone else has a solution.
6444  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 06:38:38 PM
Because people in iran cannot access sourceforge, you want bitcoin not to be hosted on SF?

Have you bothered to even read the thread?

mainly because Sourceforge is a puppet on US government hands. For an organization that is said to promote openness they seem to closed to me. And they should to you also.

And is it only Iran? What about Cuba, North Korea, Sudan and Syria? Shouldn't it be these people that live under opressive regimes that Bitcoin should help? Or only american and european lazy ass speculators are intitled to use a free decentralized currency?

Maybe you should go live in one of those countries and enjoy their restrictions before you start talking nonsense.

What about the danger that it poses to distribute an essential piece of the project on servers that are owned by a company that will turn in all their logs and HDD's to US government as soon as they ask?

Maybe when the government of the country you live in asks sourceforge for the IP logs that accessed the bitcoin files and yours is among them you will think diferently.

So much for a free internet when people can't see past their belly...  Roll Eyes
6445  Other / Off-topic / Re: Eurocoins lets make a new fork on: August 17, 2011, 05:43:11 PM
Not actually true. The code assumes 21 million in many places, not literally that I know of, but this limitation plagued IxCoin in that it would crash in 2015. A second limitation is bitcoin networking can only handle 64-bit integers, so this idea would break in 2.1 trillion years. Wishful thinking, I know Smiley.

The code assumes 21 million as the maximum number of coins in a single transaction, not as maximum number of coins. Or at least that was what the developers said in some other thread.

Maybe one of them will chime in to aknowledge it.
6446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXcoin -- enough is enough! on: August 17, 2011, 05:08:20 PM
But then iXcoin isnt trying to compete with Bitcoin.

Do explain what is it that Ixcoin is trying to do! We are all eager to listen/read to that exquisit plan!
6447  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Promote your Bitcoin site or Blog Here! on: August 17, 2011, 05:01:32 PM

WebSqURL is still in alpha-release more (Alpha1.01), so the title acquisition has issues.  However the URLs should work.

6448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: first time transaction on Bitmarket.eu -> money gone? on: August 17, 2011, 04:56:50 PM
Ok, I'm clueless...

Blockexplorer says my money has not yet been redeemed.

But, my address is changing every time I try to give in the first address I've gotten to receive these bitcoins. So I'm thinking if I can put in this adress somewhere in my client and wait for the correct number of blocks to download, the money should arrive.

Only, you can only adjust the label apparently, the new address is always given. So where to put in the original digits to redeem?

You are trying to put the address? It's the other way around, dude. The bitcoin client gives you the addresses, not you lol Check if the address you gave to bitmarket.eu is in your address book.

Now: Really, really, go read the wiki. You are saying stuff that doesn't make much sense. This is the newbies board et al, i know, but you should try to help yourself before asking others to help you.

It doesn't help people who want to help you when you don't have a clue of what you are doing.

6449  Other / Off-topic / Re: Eurocoins lets make a new fork on: August 17, 2011, 04:42:23 PM
4) remove the 21 000  000 limit so there can be a unlimited number of coins

The 21million limit is only imposed by the rewards distribution over time, so, if point 2) is satisfied it will automatically satisfy point 4) Wink
6450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: first time transaction on Bitmarket.eu -> money gone? on: August 17, 2011, 04:20:59 PM
OK...! Ports opened :-). Got myself connections (varying a lot though)...

But still...my balance is not showing my amount of BTC which I sent to my adress for withdrawls.

How do you update this? If needed at all...

Remember that I got wallet.dat backed up, but I'll only stop worrying as soon as I see the number arriving....

Some last help?

Thanks!!!

Wait for all the blocks to download, including the one's that confirm your transaction, maybe?

Currently at block 141353, check it on the lower side of your bitcoin client, between the number of connections and the number of transactions.

If after all blocks get downloaded you still don't see your money, you can try to run the client with the -rescan flag.
6451  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 04:05:45 PM
We would notice within hours if they did that. You see, the SHA-1 hashes of all official releases are PGP signed by a trusted developer, and people DO check them every now and then. It'd be great if we had a bot check them, though.

Yes, I understand that. I also know that people like Dan Kaminsky review the source code or at least did it once and said it was a ugly like hell but very well thought-off and bug-free.
But I also remember this and this
6452  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 03:40:11 PM
Do you really think it will be hard for the US gov to make sourceforge put backdoored binaries up on the only mirror we have today?

Fixed that for ya

Now on a serious note: Usually I'm not the ultra-paranoid freak type, but do you think Satoshi never came forward with his identity just because? The invention of Bitcoin would be a great thing in anybodys' resume, but he chose to hide because he knew about the powerful enemies he would face if he didn't.
Now, you are giving the power to a US controlled institution to f*** us without us even knowing about it.

Leave the binaries there if you think it's the right thing to do. Move them in a hurry after the trouble comes if you think that's the best thing to do. Just don't say you weren't warned or that you didn't knew about it when it happens.

For a project that is all about decentralization i see it too much centralized in the US, even worse, the source code is hosted in servers under the power of US law.

Let's see how it rolls. After all Bitcoin was like that from the start. Too bad that the only person who seemed to ever think about the dangers of this was the creator, and he's gone.
6453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: first time transaction on Bitmarket.eu -> money gone? on: August 17, 2011, 03:06:05 PM
Ok, re-installing bitcoin client didn't do the trick  Sad.

Anyone?

I don't think turning off the firewall is the way the go, right?

tx!! Wink

What about opening the ports used by bitcoin in the firewall?

Hard to tell you what to do when you are vague in your request for help.
OS, Firewall, UPnP on or off, etc.
6454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using the binaries from sourceforge or did you compile Bitcoin yourself? on: August 17, 2011, 02:38:28 PM
I think this is just FUD, if it's taken down from SF it will be hosted somewhere else, and if hosting the bitcoin client binaries becomes problematic I think it'll mean the bitcoin community will have much bigger problems to solve at that point than sharing some binary.

Also people who seek the next, next, next experience will probably have no problem simply using an e-wallet.

So, I'll take for granted that you read and understand 100% of the source code every time you compile it... I would like to read your reports about those source audits if that's what you do.

It seems a little exaggerated fear to me...

Fear? What about doing the right thing? Let everybody have access to Bitcoin, and not only whoever is not on the Forbidden Persons list?
6455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Thomas Nasakioto" of ixcoin is OldMiner... on: August 17, 2011, 01:42:01 PM
Some mods got promoted in 2 days, FYI. Nasakioto probably wants his forum to gain more wind first.

If his forum needs to gain more wind first why does he need moderators he doesn't know/trust?

Look, i couldn't care less if oldminer really is nasakioto or not, but it does seem strange, and things start to make sense, so...

Also, i entertain myself with this threads  Cheesy Call me a troll if you want to lol
6456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you using the binaries from sourceforge or did you compile Bitcoin yourself? on: August 17, 2011, 01:33:17 PM
Subscribing.

People should really answer this poll as it is very important.

The reason for the poll can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37687.0
6457  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 12:49:04 PM
SF is just a mirror at this point.

No it isn't... It's the only official place from where people can get compiled binaries.
6458  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please remove Bitcoin from Sourceforge.net on: August 17, 2011, 12:44:56 PM

This is a requirement by all US based companies. No exceptions, this includes github, googlecode, et al

Yes, yes, but... does it make it right?

Or is Bitcoin also bending over and let the US government do as he pleases?

EDIT: Why doesn't Bitcoin have it's own servers in a less restrictive country and hosts all the code themselves instead of relying in companies that have to follow US rulings, no matter how unfair they are?

Or will they just kill the project as soon as the US government says Bitcoin should die?
6459  Economy / Services / Re: A new advertising project: Payments can be made and received with bitcoin on: August 17, 2011, 12:40:59 PM
One doubt: You say you will advertise on every ad space that gets 100 views a day and that you'll pay 5 cents for it... but is it $0.05 or BTC 0.05?
6460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I0Coin is a SCAM on: August 17, 2011, 12:29:24 PM
Let me guess: You lost money again!  Grin

You should quit trying to be a speculator because it seems you are not cut out for it lol

Stop whining! Cry baby!  Roll Eyes

I have good reason to believe I have and I believe many others have as well. Let them speak and i'm sure you'll see i'm not the only one.

You won't see me complaining I lost money on I0coin or Ixcoin.

You also won't see me complaining if it takes off and some dudes made money and i haven't.

If you can't afford to lose money, don't invest. Business 101...

When Deepbit gets >51%, the exact same thing can happen to bitcoin. People who get blocks solo will get killed eventually by the pool. Solution: STOP USING POOLS.

I think many times that pooled mining should be forbidden and each IP should also have it's hash power limited to something like 5 Mhash/s or some other reasonable number, to stop this attacks from happening and to give everybody a fair chance on mining.

I know Satoshi didn't like when people started GPU mining, so he would like even less the power of the pools.
It's a terrible waste of electricity to say the least.
