I'm looking to grab a Ledger Nano X and was wondering, do they usually do any promos on Halloween? If so, how low do they usually go?
Big mistake, and I would not waste any money ordering devices that most likely has faulty battery, temperature issues, and who knows what else, I see now latest reports from people who say that after last update even their seed word check is all messed up and not working. You can read more details about issues with nano x below and I would also remind you that ledger is closed source device: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5358741.0

My thoughts maybe this nuget packages causes that
Maybe try to clean up everything and whitelist those files to antivirus programs that reported your files as malicious. I saw false positives with crypto wallets and software many times but not with so much reports as in this case, even microsoft thinks your file is trojan malware.

There is one more even bigger parasite and that is government with all their politicians, and this parasites lives from everyone else including rich and poor parasites. This corrupt lazy parasite is damaging economy even more with crazy rules and regulations, and it is destroying people with inflation, constant rising of taxes, and reducing freedom of people. And please don't tell me that we can't built roads or live without government, because I am sure that we can.

You can try sending ledger support email and hope to receive answer before 2022 ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I am not using any of this avalanche wallets but I saw on github that ledger is working on avalanche app update that is pending to be reviewed and merged, so maybe that will fix your issue: https://github.com/LedgerHQ/app-avalanche/pull/12

If you have ledger Nano X and you are stuck with it and have one of many issues with temperature and battery, you should update firmware to latest version 2.0.0 and you must update Ledger Live app to latest version 2.34.3 They claim that battery management is now improved, onboarding process is more simple, security and privacy is improved and they are ready for November Taproot upgrade. It all sounds great in theory but I don't trust ledger at all, so let's wait and see feedback from people and how this update works in real life. — The updated Ledger Nano X 2.0.0 version is now available. — Updating your Nano X device will simplify your onboarding process, improve battery management as well as security & privacy features. — The update process is very simple: just start Ledger Live, go to the Manager section, connect your Nano X device and start the firmware update. https://www.ledger.com/blog/ledger-nano-x-firmware-version-200-now-available-for-an-improved-user-experienceAll updates and changes: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014980580

I am not sure why this is posted in hardware wallet section, but I downloaded file USBWallet.exe from your github page and send the file to virus total website that found 21 malicious issues reported by multiple antivirus software. Can you please explain this @kirk33? https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/f3122548fd9ac729908272d8bf98de47d1eedbd4ff5186c91577ef77c05f9801PS There is already portable version for wallets like Electrum (and maybe some other wallets I don't know), but it's not safe to use it on an insecure computer.

Not everything that has DEX label is really decentralized exchange, but one of them that is real is Bisq exchange that is mentioned few times before. I would add few more worth checking out and that is blockdx.com and atomicdex.io that offers completely decentralized and trustless atomic swaps, and it's all without any kyc.

I would not use any closed source wallets like Exodus and Coinomi for keeping any significant amount of coins, and for hardware wallets I would not buy any of those you mentioned in your post. Trezor Model T is now to expensive (almost 200 euros curently) and it's not offering anything special compared to Trezor Model One, except maybe better support for some altcoins and Shamir backup. Keepkey is clone of Trezor model one and it has similar flaws like original Trezor, and Ledger is closed source and they had several leaks and problem with their devices recently.
Best wallets for me are open source, so for hardware wallets that would be Bitbox02 and maybe Keystone (ex Cobo) that is airgapped wallet. For software wallets I would use Electrum and Wasabi for Bitcoin, and maybe AtomicDEX that can be used as a wallet and dex exchange.

It is a bit stupid to give license for something and then revoke it later, and I think that this will mostly affect exchanges and crypto gambling websites, but if I remember correctly I think that old hashflare cloud mining website was also registered in Estonia. On Goingecko website I found a list of exchanges that are registered in Estonia and there are total of 24, many of them I never heard before, and some of them have no trading volume or they have fake volume. I would be very careful and withdraw coins from this exchanges if you are still using them: - B2BX - P2PB2B - Coinsbit - WhiteBIT - Hotbit - KickEX - Emirex - BitBNS - CoinMetro - Decoin - Omgfin - Exrates - STEX - Cryptology - Solarbeam - Bibo - Birake - Coinsbank - EtherFlyer - Shortex - EXNCE - Darb Finance - IncoreX - dex.blue https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges?country=EE

Unfortunately, no gerber files in the GitHub. I'm not sure how to convert the PDF into Gerber, it may be easy, it may be a pain lol.
There are some paid software for doing pdf to gerber conversion, but I think this free and open source software is also good, or you can just extract images from pdf file and convert them to gerber files: https://swannman.github.io/pdf2gerb/

I was talking about "normal" hardware wallets, say Trezor/Ledger. As far as I know it shouldn't be possible to extract the PIN.
I know you said this about regular hardware wallets because Krux doesn't need PIN codes. For ledger wallet I am not sure if they keep PIN code in secure element or not (like seed words) but I know you can change PIN anytime and it's just 4 to 8 digits, so I won't trust them. Kraken labs showed that it's possible to crack the PIN code on Trezor wallet, so I would rather use good passphrase in addition to PIN code. In same way it's not very hard to bypass or reset password on Windows or Android OS, but some people still use and trust it. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

You can order PCBs quite cheaply as well; maybe I'll order the parts and try my luck just for the heck of it ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Yeah I know about PCBs and it's more complicated than other parts because it needs to be custom made, other things you just need to order and solder together. Only problem is that it may be a bit harder to find some parts because of global chip shortage, so you need to look locally as well as doing some internet search. Just one thing that I'm not sure of is how to program the chip (have to look into it). I have all sorts of programmers here though, so it should work.
All instructions are provided on their github pug, but if something is missing I would say that it's very similar with Trezor wallet that have everything posted in more details, and maybe Bitbox devs are willing to help. Making some DIY wallet review article may bring more attention on their Bitbox wallet.

I hope this device doesn't have any cables for connections (USB, MicroUSB, etc) because the screen is not implanting pixels in random places around the characters which means they can be categorized/guessed through an oscilloscope.
This is airgapped device that has 200mAh battery for power, and usb cable is used only one time for loading the code, but this could probably be done with microSD card. This attack you are speaking off is highly unlikely to happen, especially for unknown DIY device like Krux is. With "normal" hardware wallets, one of my worries is that someone replaces it by another one, which is rigged to broadcast whatever PIN I enter. The thief can then enter PIN in the real wallet.
PIN code can be hacked or extracted fairly easy from any device, and it's more like a french fry keeping door locked.

If this is also the case on the physical device (which I highly suspect is the case since this is an emulator), and not just a kludge of the emulator, then why would Trezor choose to arrange the numbers in a scrambled order?
Yes I can confirm that this is the case on actual physical device, order of numbers is changing every time and that is not the case only on Trezor model T that have touch screen, but also on Trezor model One (you need to use computer mouse here). This obviously improves security with random orders, but I don't think that cracking short PIN number code is hard for any hacker, so I don't trust that PIN will save me from anyone except maybe kids or wife gaining access to coins. I think that Keepkey hardware wallet is using the same thing on their hardware wallet that is forked from Trezor: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FpUMTKRJ.jpg&t=663&c=QUisFkSimxy8WQ)

Bisq exchange is going to add USDT Tether coin from next release, and I think this could be very good for increasing their overall trading volume, but I still don't trust any stable coin that can be frozen or get transactions reversed like in case with USDT: Merged source code: https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq/pull/5735

While I was searching for the first one on the list [without a price], I stumbled upon an old GitHub link that said Trezor had one ["STM32F205VET6"]! STM32F205VET6 is NOT a secure element, but a main microcontroller chip that every other hardware wallet device have and it is used for general operation. In other example from that link STM32F042K is main chip used in ledger wallet and they used second chip secure element ST31H320. In BitBox02 main chip is ATSAMD51J20A and second chip secure element is ATECC608B, so don't mix things please. Secure element is second chip that is usually only used for keeping a secret phrase.
