6501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to buy using Bitcoin on: October 07, 2019, 06:29:39 AM
Hello:
I am new to cryptos and I must say that my first experience has been a bad one, I recently visited antminerusa.com and purchased some hardware, that was about 10 days ago, I paid using BTC, now the site is no longer available, its been down for 3 days maybe a bit more, this lead me to think this website is a scam.  Now what should I do to recover my BTC, if the purchase where made using a credit card, I would report it to my bank and they could void or cancel payment, but with BTC what should I do?, if there is nothing that I can do, then it is obvious that using cryptos is a scammers paradise because there is no protection to buyer (that I know), unless there is a way to introduce the complain in the chain in order to reverse payment.
This is the transaction id 30dc4f431ac3db1949b330ab8cd31d1bb019d4831e24cd7cd7f4215fca73073b if anyone could share some light I would appreciete it.

That's one of the disadvantages of Bitcoin, so if you are going to use Bitcoin you should be educated to do research if the merchant that you are going to use Bitcoin to buy stuff from them is legit and they are government registered company, even if you cannot do a chargeback at least you have buyer protection and can get a refund, and also always look for the merchants reputation.
6502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Poker vs Live Casino Poker on: October 06, 2019, 01:52:13 PM
Well, I experienced this yesterday. My friend and I decided to gamble at a live casino and he gamble there in poker and sit on the table.
I have an idea in player poker in Online casino but I did not try to play in Live casino. At that moment while watching him playing I think it is very easy to identify your opponent's faces and defeat than in online gambling casinos.

Which do you prefer to gamble poker in an online casino or in live casinos?

Indeed, can you consider that Live casinos is have an advantage over online casinos?

If you started playing in a live casino you know the feel of the players and the atmosphere that accompanies each match, you feel the emotion but you know that you need to hide and so is the other person it's all about handling the pressures, you cannot find it in an online casino, you are playing as is, you will win because of luck and how you deal the card, but totally different when you are face to face with your opponent, so if you want excitement playing live can give you that.
6503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin.com Launches Games Stars Leaderboard – Win BTC Every Week on: October 06, 2019, 12:46:52 PM
This is great news and why not, but it's not yet late to join the bandwagon, gambling is a multi billion dollar industry and Bitcoin.com wants to have a slice of it, I'm pretty gamblers and gamers will welcome this, coming from one of the leader in Cryptocurrency news, I'm waiting to be posted here on who's gonna be the first winner of the race.
6504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Golovkin vs. Dereyvanchenko - Vacant IBO Title on: October 06, 2019, 11:30:31 AM
Golovkin is  the winner of this fight which is surprising via unanimous decision it should be split decision anyway the scorecard is very close, Golovkin show rustiness in this fight he was always caught by Dereyvanchenko, so many times, it's a candidate for the fight of the year but I doubt it will get the title, I still go fo the Thurman Pacquiao match, so we will not wait of the Joshua Ruiz fight.
6505  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying Altcoin with BTC, Capital Loss Every Single Time? on: October 06, 2019, 09:51:40 AM
I did not understand the point you want to make, but let's summarize the following:

 - 1 Bitcoin = 1 Bitcoin.
 - If you are afraid of fluctuation in price do not buy BTC or at least do not think about USD value.
 - Transaction fees are very low and are often less than $ 0.1.
 - You can send one million USD using 1 dollar fees.
 - You can trade with the same value (P2P deal) and pay tx fees only.
 - BTC to Altcoin services (challegy) offers direct conversion with small fees.

in short, it is possible to exchange BTC to any altcoin using tx fees only (less than 1$?!.)

Your computation is correct, when buying altcoins with Bitcoin you should not mind the transaction fee which is usually very low, you should already calculate the fee that you are going to use and you should not consider it as your loss already, if this is your thinking then you just have to settle with Bitcoin alone and do not mind all the other coins, in cryptocurrency investing its part of our trading routine to always consider the trading fee and do not consider it as a lost.
6506  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you look for in a gaming platform? - Bojoko Article on: October 06, 2019, 05:07:50 AM

1. Do you prefer my mobile gaming or desktop in online casinos? Why?

3. Does the platform actually matter to you?

1 I prefer desktop online casinos while I am doing my stuff online it's good to include it to my multitasking, it's my breather from my work online
3 Yes, of course, some platform has an edge compared to the other, I like gaming or gambling site with build-in chat and daily contest like Onehash has, the server should be fast and there is no lag, but one big attraction is when the platform has many games on it.
6507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Popularity of BITCOIN on Twitter Declining? on: October 06, 2019, 02:54:52 AM
Quote
1. Bounties & Bounty Hunters: During the Bull run bounty hunting was at its peak and all the bounty hunters participated heavily in twitter campaigns. Most of the tweets had some basic condition to add a few hashtags related to cryptocurrency I think that was the reason why the graph looks so tall during the bull run.
Bounty hunting is a dying industry in Cryptocurrency fewer and fewer people are participating in the bounty campaign, and there are only few ICO now compared to what we have in 2017 and 2018 the decline is pretty obvious
Bounty hunting contributed to the popularity of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in the past and the only way to get back the popularity is when the market is up again and heading to another all-time high, I like it more if Bitcoin's social media presence is because Bitcoin is reaching another milestone.

6508  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Does anyone own the rights to the bitcoin logo on: October 06, 2019, 01:10:25 AM
It is a public image and not private...
of course, This is for the public, but suppose a company wants to use a bitcoin logo in its company, it must require approval from the bitcoin itself. Can I use logo bitcoin freely? I am also still thinking about it.

yes as long as they are using  what's on here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bitcoin_logo.svg which are all free, but if you are using logo that comes from a guy who made a modification and you don't get his permission and he happens to have a copyright on his work he can charge you, so it's better to ask for permission or create your own modification.
6509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell me how to invest on: October 05, 2019, 04:18:23 PM
Hi all,

Looking to invest $1000 in cryptocurrency. Could you tell me your suggestions about which cryptocurrency to invest in and what % ?

I was thinking maybe 50% bitcoin, and 5-10% in many other cryptocurrencies like XRP, Ethereum, Stellar, Cardano, etc.

Cheers

People can give you a list of coins to invest but in the end, it's you who should decide on what coins to invest, this question has been asked so many times and this is a clear invitation for people to shill the coins they are holding or supporting don't take the advice right away check the accuracy of the information that the poster is giving you, and find out if the coin is just being shilled or the coin really has value in a long term.

I'm glad I never saved any password or any of my family that uses my computer, it's a bad idea because we all know they can access all of it in Google chrome settings, try other ways to save your passwords but never use Google password setting at any time and tell your family to do the same
6511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who are are your bet for this year's boxing fight of the year on: October 05, 2019, 02:33:23 PM
With many good fights this year which for me is worthy for the fight of the year like the Joshua vs Ruiz, Spence vs Porter but my bet for this year would be the fight between Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman. Youth vs Experience and a fitting tribute to our country's pride Manny Pacquiao.

What bookies offer that kind of bets OP?

All the fight that is going to happen before the end of the year has the potential to become the fight of the year, it doesn't necessary those that involve big-name Golovkin opponent is not a big name but it could become a fight of the year, so far with big potentials are the Kovalev - Alvarez and the much-awaited  Joshua- Ruiz match, we can decide this after te Joshua - Ruiz match.
6512  Economy / Economics / Re: K-POP Company owners are joining the train hype of Cryptocurrency on: October 05, 2019, 12:40:24 PM
SM Entertainment, one of the top entertainment company in Sout Korea is planning on making its own blockchain network.

Due to the shareholder revolt and a falling stock price of the company they wanted to create this, in order for the Artists and the company itself be able to directly interact with the fans and be more engaged in the entertainment ecosystem.

What are your thoughts? Do you think this will have a "major" impact?

For more info, refer to these articles: Korea’s Biggest Entertainment Company to Launch Its Own Cryptocurrency and K-Pop Music Giant SM Entertainment Is Planning Its Own Cryptocurrency

It will have an impact on K pop industry but I don't think so in the Cryptocurrency, I hope they did make a feasibility study because K pop is not a big industry and I highly doubt it will have volume in the market, because it will only serve a small industry, if they are sure of it then why not we have seen Akon creating his won coin for his countryman and Pacquiao too is going to launch one, but coins coming from popular figure will not last long, we have seen in the past how people create coins for popular figure and they are not around anymore.

Bitcoin was not made to spend. Not for now. There is a misinterpretation of what Satoshi wrote in the Whitepaper: "A peer-to-peer eletronic cash system". He created bitcoin to be an electronic money system. This is a fact.
It's a fact and it's a gift for us and the best way to honor its creator is to use it as what it is intended for and that is by peer to peer transaction through buying and selling

99% of the world's population still does not understand, do not know and do not trust Bitcoin. And everything is fine. Bitcoin adoption is a lengthy process that may take decades or centuries to happen.

It's not 995 anymore I think it's higher because of the rapid adoption that Bitcoin is now ongoing, and it's only a matter of time

Do not spend your Bitcoins. Not now.
If we are going to do this  it will defeat it is going to defeat the purpose on why Satoshi created Bitcoin

6514  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: October 05, 2019, 09:03:15 AM
Is it possible to do money laundering via bitcoin? I mean as no one knows if you have bitcoin and how much bitcoin do you actually own, it could be used to convert black money to white right? Or at least store your black money without much hassle. But there is the risk of its value but I think for people who have lots of black money and don't want to be caught, this risk might be worth taking for them isn't it?
What are your thoughts?

It has been established and this is the bad side of Cryptocurrency, but the good side outweighs the bad side, there are in fact a lot of benefits using Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency, and fiat are also used in money laundering also, all kind of currency are subject to laundering, it's just that criminals have found a way to use it more in the black market, but like what I said Bitcoin was a more positive usage than a negative one and authorities and the communities are trying to combat the negative side.
6515  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why has not any government stopped Bitcoin? on: October 05, 2019, 05:25:10 AM
Governments have done enough to dissuade common people from using Bitcoin extensively. Being charged with operating unlicensed money changing businesses is a possibility if you engage in cash-bitcoin conversion.

They can restrict or give warnings or ask people to stop using and transacting Bitcoin but there is no way for any government to stop Bitcoin from trading or owning Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, it's decentralized, anonymous and internet-based, the best they can do is to regulate it and taxed them, the government can make a profit from regulating this exchange, if the government can regulate casinos and online gambling sites, why not these exchange, it will add revenue to their coffers.
6516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice - A small mistake emptied my wallet. on: October 05, 2019, 01:31:40 AM
A small mistake on dice made my wallet get emptied. Only mistake is that I didn't added an additional zero to the bet amount. Instead of 0.00005 btc I mistakenly placed 0.0005 btc. Further on the consecutive bets went for a double the value. This all of the sudden emptied my wallet. I didn't watched the wallet until the bet amount in the tab turned zero. Further watched the bet history and understood what big mistake I've done.

I also have a history of making that kind of mistakes and it's very depressing to think that one mistakes take out all your hard work for the whole night, another mistake that you should watch out is betting all you've had because you think you are having a good run of winning, these two kinds of mistakes so far are the one that keeps hounding my betting and I kept repeating the same mistakes when I have to much drink while playing.
6517  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [CONTEST] Make max posts and win 1 btc ! on: October 05, 2019, 12:31:29 AM
Where can I find rules of ceyptotalk.org forum? In which section?

So far these contest seems easy. There no rules, means to plagiarism taboo. Forum can be drowned with copy/paste.
So far that's what's really what's happening now, there's not much category tree in this forum, Invision is very much different from SMF the dev should add more local boards it will add more activity on the forum there are some topics that don't belong to some categories and that is one of the big problems here, they also should have a meta section so people can discuss about the development of the forum
6518  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bank asking to provide additional details regarding my activity on: October 04, 2019, 05:35:48 PM
Hi there,

I am trading Bitcoin on LocalBitcoins and similar websites. My bank just sent me an email asking me to provide some details regarding the transactions in my account:

- Please explain the origin of the funds received from *Name Surname* (what goods/services the funds have been paid to the account for) and provide relevant documentation (contracts, invoices)

- Explain what kind of relationships you have with *Name Surname*

- what business activity I am engaged in

- From *date* you have sent *amount* to Kraken, Payward Ltd. Please explain the purpose of such transactions.

People send me money to my bank account, I send them their coins. What kind of explanation should I provide to these questions to ensure the sustainability of my account? Especially for the first question; we do not have any contracts, and the only documentation I can get is the invoices from the exchange. Should I be completely open with them or should I try to hide that I am selling cryptocurrency? Maybe there are someone who have had similar experience?

Edited: the country I am located in, crypto is completely legal.

They want to know if you are compliant to the bank, so your first assignment is to check if the bank is open to accept transactions coming from Cryptocurrency, if they do then, you can tell them these transactions since they'll understand how Cryptocurrency trading works.
If they not then you can look another bank to transact your business if you already have huge funds and want to have a good standing you need a good lawyer for advice on this.

6520  Economy / Economics / Re: Please, we should not totally eliminate fiat currency on: October 04, 2019, 04:18:17 PM
From what I have seen so far in this forum and other crypto platforms, most of us want fiat eliminated. But let us not forget that there are still situations whereby we can't use crypto except fiat like in rural places without computers or even internet facilities.

That's true not all countries are the same there will always place in every country where there is no internet access but people from this area accept fiat, if we take out fiat to them they have no means to get paid and pay for their product and services.
They can always co-exist we must never think of extinction of fiat it should be one of the options.
