if one orders 10 000 avalon chips today and they deliver as they say within 12 weeks
they should be shipped around mid august.

let´s say getting them mounted on boards and running will take 3 to 4 weeks = mid september

that will give you 2800 GH/s with an investment of...(based on current btc rate)

(90 k $ for the chips, + 70 k $ for assembly =) 160 k $

this is massive investment in the best available mining hardware. with a difficulty of 80 mio it would generate 530 btc per month. so it would need about 3 months to pay back.

I just saw a bird fly by my window.

It didn't affect the price. (surprisingly)

Amazon Coins = Microsoft Points

I see no relation whatsoever to bitcoin. And I'm wondering why you do.

the masses love amazon. if their coin gets hyped like btc, masses will adopt it. of course it is not the same thing. but will the people care about the difference, once it is hip to have amazon coins?

6547  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / if i order 10 000 avalon chips today... on: May 14, 2013, 09:10:09 AM
... is it a good investment?

will they really ship within 11 weeks?

will i be able to get the chips mounted and ready to go within 4 weeks ?

will those 2800 GH/s make me smile ?

will the difficulty in 4 months be more or less than 80 mio ?

will this 160 k $ investment pay ?

is this a best case szenario ?

this poll carried out by a major poll institute reveals that one out of six germans "know" bitcoins. one out of five would use it in the future for payments. the article is headlined with "only one out of six germans..."   i would consider this not deserving an "only" but instead an "already". no marketing effort, no big company paid for this campaign. every payment provider wishes their system would be so wellknown without any marketing budget.

How can 20% of Germans say they're willing to use bitcoin for future payments if only 17% know about them?

there are two possibilities:

it is either every 5th out of the "every 6th" group who knew bitcoin, or

the poll might have asked
1)"have you ever heard about the crypto-currency named bitcoin?"
2) "could you imagine using this internet currency in the future?

it is possible that people could imagine to use such a technology but didn´t know it exists already.

there's a big conference in a week - if things look positive this should push the prices up, way up.

How would that influence the price in any way?
Those going to the conference are already Bitcoin zealots.

Are they going to buy by the buckets just because there was some good news?

There will be increased media coverage.

So? This will be but a drop in the ocean of last month's coverage.

Habt ihr mal bei bitfunder geschaut? Wie die  verrückten dort. Laut Bitfunder wäre ein 85 Ghash/s Avalon jetzt 462 Bitcoin Wert

woot?

6555  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1 Trillion Bitcoin on: April 30, 2013, 08:38:12 PM
It's gonna be bitcoin for sure. It cannot be stopped anymore, no way. I think it will reach $1M (per BTC) before Christmas this year, but the long-term value is not so high.

we all wish this could become true. but...

how should the bitcoin infrastructure cope with that ? remember the spike a few weeks ago ? mt.gox couldn´t handle it. lag. laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag... panic sell lemming stunt. while at the same time bitcointalk went offline, bitcoincharts went offline, no more prices, other exchanges getting in trouble because users went away from mt.gox ... it was a desaster.

at 250 $

what would happen at 2500,- ? imagine the media coverage. everything would get really crazy at a 2500 level. but what about 25 000,- ? pure madness. it would be in daily news, some news would start to broadcast live from tokyo 24/7. people would go nuts. every scammer would sell to every grandma, people would start killing each other over bitcoins. how would mt.gox and the rest of the infrastructure do at this point ? if all this and much more complete madness is going on, what is to expect at 250 000,- $ ? mt.gox would be in smoking ruins.

let´s say mt.gox pulls all the way through 1 btc = 1 million $
if one cashes out his 100 btc he would have 100 mio $ on his account. (would sure look nice)
with the current rate of withdrawel of 10 000,- $ a month...  hm...  nice income for the next 833 years.

much more likely: failing infrastructure making it bumpy all the way up to....  (?)

12 hours for Zephir, he will close by that time.

thanks .

ok, seems to be enough time to read the bulk...   what am i doing with those chips then? will i have to find someone myself to put them together?
