6561  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9i one board doesnt work on: April 08, 2019, 09:56:48 PM
for some reason I cant downgrade firmware anymore to test. I have tried resetting as well.

then this should be the first problem you need to solve, usually changing the firmware alone can fix a lot of issues, so you should explain what does it say when you try to change the firmware?
6562  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer S9 , can't login after attempting to flash. on: April 08, 2019, 09:46:39 PM
Yeah I had some that would only flash using a chrome browser and windows 10.

OK i tested the method on all other gears and it worked, it's pretty strange i have no explanation for how it works, i hope someone could point out the technical aspect behind it.

what i did to solve the issue was as follows;

1- Reset the miner using the IP report button  by powering off the miner, keep holding the ip report button while turning the miner on,keep pressing the button for about 5 to 10 seconds, then let go for the button.

2-you need to immediately flash the firmware as soon as the miner's ip appear on your router, and by immediately i mean 15-20 seconds max, if you wait a bit longer than that it won't work.

* trying the above after pin reset or a normal reboot will not work, flashing will show successful , then it won't let you log in until you physically power off then on , and the old firmware will still be there.

thanks @BitMaxz and @philipma1957.
6563  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 March 4th, 2019 firmware experience? on: April 08, 2019, 09:39:02 PM

being running on some of my gears and everything seems great so far.

temps wise = better
stable no random restart

The Enhanced mode comes with it by default so you have to disable it if you don't want it

it brought the hashrate down to 9th to 9.7th but temps were super low.

i didn't measure power consumption but assuming the temps drop so i think power wise there should be a bit of improvements.

TL;DR ; I find the March 2019 firmware to be good and stable overall.

is my userID invisible in whatever data you use to conduct these results ? Grin , i read the op trying to find any special criteria which i don't fit into,i couldn't find any reason why am i not being listed in the most generous merit senders despite the fact that I sent hundreds of them so far  Embarrassed
6566  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is right or wrong that bitcoin price will up to $160k in 2023? on: April 08, 2019, 01:20:13 AM
ok wait let me get my crystal ball , znnnnnnnnnnnn . sorry my crystal ball says that we would be in a bear market in 2023, falling from 2021 ATH 70k and trying to find support at 20k.
6567  Economy / Speculation / Re: When you win does someone else have to lose. on: April 08, 2019, 01:13:53 AM
Whenever I trade and make a profit, does someone else lose?

yes, if not then where does the money (profit) come from? someone has to pay for it.

it might not be a direct form of losing money,it could be a profit left on the table which the other person/s left for you. it's a bit hard to break down but just remember that every cent of profit you make is someone else's loss.
6568  Economy / Speculation / Re: The end of the sideways market is only a few months a head. TA on: April 08, 2019, 12:55:23 AM
Update:

to a very good extent we are still following 2014-2015, despite that the breakout accrued a little earlier than "planned".

this week large candle was intercepted in this thread >    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5125728.msg50358025#msg50358025

where i used simple SMA comparison from chart history.

now looking at the RSI on the weekly we did break the 42 level to the upside, we suppose to re-test it in about 1.5 months time, and from there the bull run should start.

6569  Economy / Reputation / Ryan Hildreth , Bitconnect scam on: April 08, 2019, 12:05:16 AM

so i was watching some YouTube videos and then Ryan Hildreth video came to my " recommended" list, i thought this scumbag is in jail already but sad enough he is stilling rocking, with almost 100k followers on YouTube alone.

he of course deleted everything that connects him to bitconnet, and now all of his videos are about things like "how to make money online, how to get rich ,etc. when the only way of making money he knows is through scam projects like bitscam.

i won't be surprised if this dude shills another scam coin in the next bull market.

I am not even sure if this the right section, mods please move it to wherever you see fit, i just hope this topic pops up to whoever trying to do his research on this scumbag and his friends (CryptoNick and Trevon James) and of course not to forget the legend Carlos Matos "wasasasaaap DISconnnnnnnnect".

don't wear an avatar

you wear the boobs-licking avatar which i personally find the most interesting avatar on forum so far, specially the tongue part. Roll Eyes

I did ask that we treat people with some humility, maybe we should even ask them if they really want to be in DT1.

humility? i think you taking this shit too seriously, plus to a certain extent, one should use  the trust system the same way whether on DT or not.
6571  Other / Meta / Re: No 2FA here still? on: April 07, 2019, 11:30:18 PM
as others have mentioned you need to wait for the new forum, i also don't understand why so many members asking for 2FA and thinking it's the ultimate secure options online when it is not, it really is not as secure as many people think, there are more important security measurements that you need to learn about and apply first, 2FA is merely another little security addition.
6572  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC might do something nice soon. TA only ( No crystal Ball/s) on: April 07, 2019, 08:35:27 PM
just in case we don't follow prev charts 100%  , i always like to consider all the possibilities and to be able to plan and act accordingly.

so let's dig into the chart on the daily time frame.

Green = support
Red = Resistance

possible scenarios

A - (very weak ) price keeps moving up, a clove about major resistance and start of a new rally . i don't see shit like that happening now ! but if we close above it, should you sit there and wait for scenario B to happen? indeed not.

B ( very strong)

a retrace from the major resistance area, a correction towards one of the support trends/lines

previous chart suggest we fall to the 200sma on the weekly which would be around 3500$  but it's not 100% sure to happen , so here are major support areas i would be looking to buy at

1-purple trend-line (around 4600$)
2-horizontal support area from 4100$ to 4300$
3-20 SMA (currently at around 3900$-4000$)
4-200SMA(currently at around 3500$)

depending on the price action that forms when we approach each of those areas i will be planing to take long positions from there. already took a good profit from this spike, last portion will be sold at 5500-5600$ and will probably enter short positions at that level too.
6573  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer S9 , can't login after attempting to flash. on: April 07, 2019, 06:20:33 PM
for your problem, i think DHCP will solve it, also setting the the ip address for the miner to 192.168.1.x and netmask to 255.255.255.0 at home and taking it to your farm will also fix the problem.

but that's not what i am having here, if it was a networking related issue i would have known " I do this for living" .

anyway i think i solved the problem, i brought one of them home and tried a different way of flashing and it worked, will try it on the rest asap and report back here, i am 90% sure this method will work on all of them but i need to test it on the rest first.

thanks a lot phil.
6574  Other / Meta / Re: Merits getting abused like this? What can be done? on: April 06, 2019, 11:54:28 PM
Does anyone pay 15$ a merit ? Asking for a friend  Roll Eyes..kidding

So 3 BTC for legendary ? Anyway i doubt that anyone who sells merit will have more than say 10-30 merit to send, most probably come from airdropped merit because earned merit are a bit hard to get and most of those who get them in large amounts are members with a good reputation which they can not risk.

6575  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC might do something nice soon. TA only ( No crystal Ball/s) on: April 06, 2019, 08:26:12 PM
The problem with btc is that it has no real life use case yet, most people treat btc as it is just a random thing that could rise in value and they would be able to sell at higher price( for fiat ).

Many investors never actually had access to the btc they think they buy, bitmex is one example.

So as long we don't have people buying bitcoin for sake of actually using it then the strongest analysis will always come from charts whether we like it or not.
6576  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer S9 , can't login after attempting to flash. on: April 06, 2019, 02:04:33 PM
Phil  , this has nothing to do with ip addresses , they all have static ips to begin with. I am certain this is not a network problem.
6577  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HOW MANY HEAT EMISSION - ANTMINER S9 ? on: April 06, 2019, 01:48:56 AM
I am proposing to build a cooler room (like at meat packing house) and run them in there.  Will that work?  If so how big should my room be?

It will not work, try placing a regular pc in a closed freezer and see to yourself, miners unlike dead cows generate heat consistently, you need to get rid of the heat and provide fresh cool air for your miners, what ever you have in mind won't work if it does not have some sort of ventilation.
6578  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer S9 , can't login after attempting to flash. on: April 05, 2019, 11:40:59 PM
Hey thanks for responding Bitmaxz

This is not a problem with 1 or 2 miners , there is a quite a good number of them that have the same problem "all of this batch to be clear". this can't be a random issue.

The weird part is after failing to flash, it still mine to the pool with no problem, it shows on awesome-miner as well, working perfectly, but all types of connections are refused, can't even restart it via ssh command.
6579  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC might do something nice soon. TA only ( No crystal Ball/s) on: April 05, 2019, 10:09:57 PM
I hope you are not trying to base your prediction on the past

not sure if you have read the OP, i am indeed basing my prediction on the past, everything that has to do with TA is based on the past.

i used to think the same way many people think, going by the theory that BTC now is different than before, it can't do this and it can't do that, but everyday this theory gets weaker and weaker.

in 2014/15 we dropped about 85% from ATH, last year when were where at 6k everybody and their mother said that there is noway we would fall below that, no way btc would fall 85% from ATH, it's different now, the whales are here, adoption , lightning ,seqwit ,Binance, ETF all these things make btc different from 2014 bla bla bla bla and then boom we fall right at almost the same % we did 5 years ago.

6580  Bitcoin / Mining support / antminer S9 , can't login after attempting to flash. on: April 05, 2019, 09:51:28 PM
sup people, i ran into a very strange problem with these used S9s 13.5th batch i got, all of them have the same exact problem.

when i try to flash a new firmware , the miner shows "update successful" and then restarts itself "normal" but when i try to login  with either root/root  from browser ,or root/admin using ssh nothing will work, i have to physically power the miner off and on to be able to login again, and once i do, the same old firmware is there still.

i did a hard reset for all of them and now they seem to have factory default firmware.

but the same problem is still there.

things i tried

1- resetting using both IP reporter and pin "no different tho, because i know the reset worked"
2- i tried almost every single firmware for S9 from bitmain website

that's all i could attempt before i ran out of time, and had to go take care of something at home, so i left them running on default firmware which works just fine except that temps are higher on this batch than  the rest mainly because of the firmware difference.

has anybody had a similar issue? what do you think the possible cause?
