Oh thanks for the link.
I have been visiting bitcointalk for like 9 months now, and haven't read that before. Shame on me! Tongue

BTW, I see trolling posts, "hold hold hold" posts, uninteresting threads and ref spam posts frequently.
And I have found a few threads with [NSFW] tag in the title lol.

It's recommended if you do think a thread/post is inappropriate or not following the guidelines then you should report it, the moderators will then decide that for themselves and will make a decision.  Just remember that because you report a thread which isn't following the recommended guidelines doesn't mean the moderator will agree with you. The moderators to my knowledge do not follow any strict policies and take their own initiative.

I'm not 100% sure on the "[NSFW]" tags. But, it seems that it's now acceptable to have those types of threads as long as there is a tag within the title. I don't think this is directly breaking any of the guidelines, but to be more polite to the community by letting them know before they enter a thread.

Edit: Thanks, mprep for clearing that up.

Where have you found that "forum moderation policy"?
I have never read or heard of such thing...
Here. It's rather basic and doesn't cover much. But, mprep unofficial guidelines  probably cover a lot more and answer a lot of peoples questions.
6583  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Password Recovery Without Needing Your Wallet.dat 5-10% fee. on: August 18, 2014, 02:05:35 PM
The core-qt is store the encrypted private key so if you have the password you can spend the money form the address.
Electrum have a brainwallet feature password = private key.
Multibit same as core-qt.

You don't understand.

Most cases, people send me a encrypted private key to a zeroed address (No Bitcoin inside) which they extracted from their Bitcoin wallet. Meaning, I can test for the password and if I do eventually find the password I can't open anything because I don't have the wallet file. Even, if I do know the private key to that address it's still no use to me because I can only gain access to a blank address and not any other address that you store Bitcoin inside. I can't spend any of your money unless, you give me physical access to your private key to an address you store your money on or the actual wallet file.

You can see all the positive feedback here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=717334.0

Some wallets do require physcial access because, I have not found a way to extract the key information. But, most major wallets are supported and are safe. However, in these cases I normally suggest people to try it themselves and use free alternatives.

Sorry for the long response, but I totally forgot about this thread and have been maintaining the other thread on a daily basis.

What alt coins do you recover?

Basically, I recover alt coins per request. It's a longer process because I have to setup a safe enviroment to download the client and then transfer my scripts over and then start the work, that's assuming my scripts work on the alt coin. There has been some circumstances which I had to do additional research and had to contact many alt coin developers.

Send me a message with the alt coin you are talking about and I can see what I can do.

blockchain.info wallet? How would that work? I've lost my password to a multibit wallet will you help>?

Shoot me a message and we can discuss the issue further if you would like.
6586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: August 17, 2014, 12:18:01 AM
I keep a significant portion of my bitcoins on an encrypted ironkey usb drive stored in a security deposit box and stored in a zip lock bag (in case of vault flooding, which was an issue in Manhattan after hurricane Sandy, although the ironkeys are very well contructed and would probably work after a year or more underwater). The ironkey uses hardware-based encryption and automatically erases and disables the drive after 10 wrong password attempts, so brute force isn't an option. The file on the drive is itself is encrypted with a password in combination with a keyfile that I don't keep anywhere near the bank.  I have an encrypted copy stored within a personal ironkey, also using keyfiles that I do not keep locally or anywhere that the drive itself routinely travels to or gets used.

Just remember, you're much more likely to lose coins than have them stolen (i.e., forgotten password, hard drive failure, house fire, ruined paper wallet).  For that reason I always make sure I have 2 working copies which are physically separated.  I also have redundancies for the keyfiles, which are necessary to recover the wallets, but its easy to keep copies of those in various places since they by themselves are not valuable to anyone.  The keyfiles are not labeled as such, obviously (you can use any kind of file).

I wouldn't keep a full list of keys, you should just extract a private key from a zeroed address so that no one who finds those encrypted keys will be able to access your Bitcoin (He if the odds of this happening are very slim) Instead they will only be able to access the blank address. You can still find the password from that encrypted key as long as you know enough of it or have a good idea what it could be. So it would be accessible by you if you ever forget your password but, know what it could be. Whoever, else will just have access to the blank address and nothing else.

For anyone considering this option of using a encrypted storage device:

What you could of done before you stored it in the encrypted storage drive and set the password to the encrypted storage device is made the password the same as your Bitcoin wallet encrypted password. Extracted a private key which belongs to a zeroed address  then it would be possible to find that password without affecting the storage device. Of course, that means the wallet and storage device would need the same password which could be a security flaw, however not everyone would know how to apply the script to the private key &/or know that encrypted key would be the password to the storage device.

Of course, this requires that you know most of the password, so if anyone did find the private key they would need to know most of the password anyway to even try to bruteforce it. Don't get me wrong, there are far more secure ways to store your Bitcoin but, if you insist on using a encrypted usb then this is probably the best way to go about it.

Can you share with us what kind of software you use to do this
I have an old litecoin wallet with some funds in it, does your method work also on altcoin wallets?

cheers

All my scripts are developed by myself, nothing fancy all of them run in a python environment. I don't like the idea of publicly distributing the scripts that I've created because, of this service. If you would like to shoot me a message I can provide you with a few free alternatives if you would not like to use my service. I do offer support for litecoin and other alt coins by request.

I've been thinking recently of offering alt coin recovery free and turn it into a tip only business. I've been in contact with a few alt coin developers who would like to have a recovery service for it's users and have contacted me.

I've just recommended my friend too you! Looks like you are much more flexible on the price than other alternatives.

Thank you.

I'm free this weekend if anyone needs help.
6589  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Password Recovery Without Needing Your Wallet.dat on: August 15, 2014, 01:20:09 PM
can you recover a hacked electrum wallet?

Are you 100% sure your wallet was hacked? You might of made a typo or simply forgot the password, I've had that a few times now where someone thought they were hacked but, simply forgot their password.

But, if your wallet is hacked then no, because they would of changed the password and then you have no information on that password, therefore making it impossible unless it's a easy password. However, it's not common for people to hack wallets and then keep it in that wallet they normally transfer out, so I ask again are you 100% sure it has been hacked?

If you are asking because you think this service could get into anyone wallet, it can't I reject everyone who hasn't got sufficient information because it's impossible to actually guess if the password is a strong password.

Just for the record, anyone who contacts me with no information on the password at all is very suspicious and I will reject that without asking any questions. This service is to help people and not hurt people.

Anyone, who needs my help shoot me a message and I'll respond normally within a few hours and no more than 12.

6590  Other / Meta / Re: Account Security on: August 14, 2014, 08:47:29 PM
So with this method will everyone who is on default trust receive your Bitcoin address? I should imagine that would get you blocked by a few people.

No, you are sending to "DefaultTrust" the user which is a maintained by administrators of this site.

This looks pretty good I have a old wallet which I have tried using btcrecover and to no avail it didn't work and I need to be able to gain access back I know some of the password or possible passwords but its a long list would you be able to help?

Sure, shoot me a message and we can work something out.
6592  Other / Meta / Re: Why is the Altcoin Section so neglected? on: August 13, 2014, 08:15:10 PM
Well, this is a Bitcoin forum after all. Alt coins are just squatting in owned property.
6593  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTB Amazon gift cards (up to $500 in the next few days) on: August 13, 2014, 04:20:22 PM
I can sell any amount of amazon.com gift codes. However, you will either have to pay the fees for escrow or you send the full amount of Bitcoin before I purchase the amazon gift codes. If you would like me to prove that I did obtain them through a legit source, then I will order from amazon.com directly and have amazon email the codes directly to your email, thus confirming that they came from amazon. I'm willing to do this at 10% discount of face value, e.g $100 would be $90 in Bitcoin.

I only accept Bitcoin for the purchase.
6594  Other / Meta / Re: Is it fair? on: August 12, 2014, 06:53:28 PM
Although this sounds unfair, I believe it makes sense to trust moderators and donors more, because their accounts are worth more.

There are multiple reasons why this statement is incorrect. A moderator, donator or trusted member account isn't immune to being compromised, That, in fact has occurred before and will probably happen again.

Also, people are known to make extreme decisions in drastic circumstances. Let's take this for example; The person who is considered trustworthy recently lost their job and are near to losing their house and potentially their family. Now, in that position I'm sure a lot of thoughts race through the mind of that person and they have to make something good of the situation and earn money to try and keep their house. So, in this situation, I believe a person could make the decision to scam other members if they know they can get away with it or just to earn money for a short period of time.

This, might be taking a simple issue and blowing it out of portion, but we must consider everything.

6595  Other / Meta / Re: Is it fair? on: August 12, 2014, 05:06:01 PM
Of course it's fair, it's up to the buyer to take precautions and use their own judgement. Being a moderator doesn't give much more visibility than any other user.
6596  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU brute forcing an encrypted wallet on: August 10, 2014, 10:58:01 PM

Not sure about OP's case, but for Ronya, his password is very short and simple, and it is not really hard to brufe-force it.

Yes. Ronya should be able to crack it pretty soon, I'm surprised it's taking as long as  it is though, guess it depends on the hardware you got pumping that script. I'm unsure how fast btcrecover is though.(a quick glance and the code is actually pretty clean and should run at decent speeds depending on hardware and whether it is able to utilize cores) I've had some similar scenarios and it's taken a few hours at most.

I wish you the best of luck Ronya and hope you can get access back, if you can't you can always send me a message and we'll discuss more about the issue.

6597  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU brute forcing an encrypted wallet on: August 10, 2014, 10:30:38 PM
You are kinda screwed...
the wallet is encrypted with multiple rounds of AES making it much, much harder to crack by almost any means.
Try getting a quantum computer  Cheesy

Wrong. It's indeed very possible to crack a password if you know a little about it. I've found around 8 passwords within a week. That is because they knew a little bit about their password. If you know the majority of your password you should be able to get it. If you are certain you used it but, might of made a typo(s) then it takes under a hour usually to find. The less you know about the password the more the chance of recovery failing.

Remember, we are not trying to crack a private key, but a password. It's much easier and is possible.

If anyone, needs help. Feel free to contact me about the matter.
6598  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Password Recovery Without Needing Your Wallet.dat on: August 10, 2014, 06:56:14 PM
I will be setting up a website & a new email. As it appears that there has been a few people spreading the email to other people and I have received a few spam emails. I never thought many people would want to communicate through email but, now that is the preferred choice from people I will be creating a dedicated one which will only be used for this service. I'll update the original post when I have the website &/or the email up and running. At the moment I'm going to make a few more scripts tonight and will probably get onto creating the email in the morning.

Also, before I forget I've been in contact with a few alt coin developers and will probably be opening my doors to the majority major alt coins. I only do this by request at the moment and don't officially offer it, but will be hoping to in the future. If this does happen I will only be accepting payment in Bitcoin and all the testing will be done in a virtual box which will slow down the process a small bit. (this is to prevent malicious clients etc)

I'm still open for business and eager to help others.

BTW i have left you positive trust and would like to say thanks once again

(I can't seem to find the reddit thread now sorry)

Cheers! No problem what so ever, if you do find the thread let me know and I can contact the OP to change the email to the new one.

6599  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Password Recovery Without Needing Your Wallet.dat on: August 10, 2014, 02:45:49 PM
What are the normal fees per 1 Bitcoin inside a wallet?

There is no set amount. You tell me what you would like to pay and I will then evaluate how long it's going to take and whether it's worth the time and fee. The fee is agreed before any work has been started and is agreed by both myself and the other party.

If you have any more questions or want to talk a little more, please send me a message.

I would like to get one of these off you Bob!, I have had a steam code off you, but not a amazon code yet. I completely understand if you don't want to give me a amazon code because I've already done business with you.

Keep up these amazing sales!
