5601  Economy / Reputation / Re: Sent merits to his ALT account on: March 20, 2018, 10:23:12 PM
It's all well and good finding patterns but, getting enough evidence to prove 100% that these accounts should be tagged is very difficult. I think a lot of people are too eager around here to plaster their red mark everywhere. A lot of false positives have probably happened through this method.
5602  Economy / Reputation / Re: List: Spammers, rule breakers and exclusive bounty users on: March 20, 2018, 10:20:13 PM
I would like to report a group of well organized spammers/ICO pumpers  creating dozens of threads about a shit/scam coin and bumping the threads and promoting the coin.

Coin name : Bitcoinfuji - Possibly scam because no white paper, No good website , No advisers , No enough details about the team.

These accounts are created only to promote this coin and all posts of these accounts are for promoting and bumping their spam threads.

Spammers:
1. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1812131 - Jr.member - atlantis123 - 82 spam posts
2. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1693561 -  Jr.member - Enki369 - 162 spam posts
3. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1383360 - Jr.member - Tilbrook007 - 809 spam posts
4. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1386572 - Jr.member - jamesashmore1964 - 130 spam posts
5. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1807129 - Newbie - Poseidon666 - 11 spam posts

This jamesashmore1964 must be the leading account of this well organized spam/ICO bumping. Because their silly website https://www.bitcoinfuji.com/ says he is the ICO of this project.

Spam threads they have created and still bumping.

There must be hundreds of spam threads they started. Those are the few i could find. The team may have more accounts as well.

These accounts are not only create their own threads and bump them but also spamming and promoting their shitcoin in other threads.

Report these if you think they are breaking the rules. I'm only adding people who are higher than member. But, I will take a look at reporting these if their posts haven't been dealt with by the time I get around to it.

Thanks to everyone else for inputting too by the way.
5603  Other / Meta / Re: Off topic bullshit posters on: March 18, 2018, 10:34:24 PM
I will. The reason I posted this is I wanted to make you guys aware. There might be more of his clones out there doing the same thing and being unnoticed because their posts look legit at first glance. You have to check his post history to see the pattern.
Also, I was wondering if it's a bot because the posts are so generic that it actually might be.
Yeah there is loads of these and some of them probably aren't even connected. Probably a bot, even if it's not it might as well be because those replies are complete nonsense like they aren't even remotely related to the discussion.  It's always good to get second opinions if you are unsure though.
5604  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysts expect the fall of Bitcoin to $ 2,800 on: March 18, 2018, 10:27:20 PM
Then this is whats going to happen because the experts have predicted thy! They've never been wrong or anything before. There's a general thing that happens when 'experts' predict these sort of things they either get it right and are remembered and hailed before the public for it or they get it wrong and it's forgotten about.

5605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to deal with Crypto ads being banned on social media? on: March 18, 2018, 10:23:49 PM
Let's not consider it an attack against Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies itself. It's more likely as someone mentioned above that they have been banned due to the amount of malicious software being spread because of these banners and advertisements. Facebook has always taken extreme measures against this sort of thing. Although, it's not a perfect solution I think it's an approach of the 'greater good' rather than an attack.
5606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: sites to earn more satoshis ? on: March 18, 2018, 10:19:44 PM
Faucets are a waste of time and are never worth it. It's been a long time since they have been worth it. If you are into writing and enjoy it then you can try steemit. You'll get rewards for articles that you write and people up vote them.

But, quit trying to make a living from faucets it's just not worth it.
5607  Other / Meta / Re: Off topic bullshit posters on: March 18, 2018, 10:17:18 PM
Yeah, looks like it. Those seem completely unrelated replies to the discussion. When ever you see posts like these just report them and include a little comment for the moderators explaining the situation to make it quicker for them to deal with it.
5608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Great Decline on: March 18, 2018, 11:35:22 AM
Declines are good for the economy. It also get's rid of the people who invested into Bitcoin expecting a quick buck and encourages new investors to invest into it. Stop thinking that Bitcoin is doomed as soon as the price falls. We all know the value of Bitcoin and a temporary drop isn't going to change that.
5609  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lethn could potentially be compromised on: March 18, 2018, 03:18:05 AM
If I remember tomorrow I'll try to get into contact with Lethn and notify him that his account appears to be compromised. Looking at that Reddit account he posts very similar posts to what he posted of old on this account linked here. He'll likely want to get the account sorted out if he's aware it's been compromised.

I love it when forum members band together to render hacked accounts useless.

It's nice to see that forum members are still working towards a common goal when it comes to forum security and cleanliness. Far too much of members attacking each other these days.
5610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Microchip wallets and Implants😱😱😱 on: March 18, 2018, 03:14:36 AM
I guess you could call me old fashion but, I would rather not have something implanted that offers little to no practicability. I guess it's a cool gimmick and could be a talking point at a few gatherings but, really why is this better than any other traditional storage options. It's correct that dogs and cats have had microchips for a while now, but really I'm looking at the more long term issues that may arise. I guess it's as simple as removing it if infection sets in etc.
5611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mailru enables bitcoin payments on: March 18, 2018, 03:09:03 AM
I read recently that Russia was going to legalize cryptocurrencies and that Putin had ordered the implementation of cryptocurrencies in their country. This is just the starting I guess.

Could we please have a source on this? I'm unsure of the reliability with Russia sources and would appreciate anyone sharing the more accurate sites. No mention elsewhere on the forum to my knowledge though and I believe something like this would be well discussed.

I don't understand how mail.ru can accept cryptocurrency, if the Central Bank of Russia doesn't officially recognized cryptocurrency Undecided.
I haven't looked into it but maybe mail.ru isn't even located in Russia.
5612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think the bitcoin industry has no women? Consider again considering on: March 18, 2018, 03:06:44 AM
I don't think this makes any difference to Bitcoin whether there's a lack of females anyway. But, if we must go into technicalities then no research could be conducted due to the fact that the majority of users that are involved in Bitcoin remain anonymous. Normally only people involved in projects and businesses reveal their identity.
5613  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lethn could potentially be compromised on: March 17, 2018, 11:51:18 AM
Good job on tagging the account.

You missed it, recently there was a password change (Security log).
Code:
March 06, 2018, 10:06:09 PM - Lethn - password changed

Would appreciate anyones input on this.
Based on the obvious different posting styles, someone else is using it now (IMO).
Thanks for finding that at the time I didn't check the seclog because I went offline shortly after spotting this.

Yeah, I remember him and his style is very different. It would probably be very easy for the real Lethn to prove that it was his account as he uses that name elsewhere on the net. This is probably his reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/Lethn

He also used to try sell various things here (and elsewhere) including jewellery: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=121471.msg9560168#msg9560168
Anyone who has an account on Reddit might want to contact him. I only browse Reddit and don't actually have an account. I think it would probably be better coming from an established member at Reddit than a newly created account with no posts.
5614  Economy / Reputation / Lethn could potentially be compromised on: March 16, 2018, 10:42:14 PM
Okay, so I've just come across a few highly suspicious posts from Lethn which I've never seen him make before. I checked his trust page and it seems his email has been changed recently but, not his password. Although, maybe I've caught it too late and they've changed the email since. Well looking at his post history he's now breaking rules continuously by posting these types of messages:

Looks like nice project here

Watching....

This is after a very long post gap. I've almost certain that this account has been hacked as they never posted these types of messages before and I think I remember Lethn being a somewhat productive member.

Profile link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=71158
Here's a archive of his posts: https://archive.is/1tWZp

A signed message would likely be the solution here as I do believe it's been compromised. I just don't think the old Lethn that I remember posting would not post these types of messages.  I've reported to the messages which are breaking the rules and the ones that made me highly suspicious and have asked the staff members to take a look. But, I've included a archive of his posts before reporting these messages.

Looking at his post history seems to show that he was heavily involved in the Off topic and politics sections, and rarely if ever posted in the altcoin sections. Although, peoples desires change and it does seem that these posts are very similar to the ones that are made daily by hundreds of accounts.

Would appreciate anyones input on this.
5615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is what happening to BTC on: March 16, 2018, 10:27:51 PM
I frankly did not get your statement. You have said that "right now prices falling while value is increasing". What do you mean by value here?

Secondly, how do you fix the parameters for bitcoin's value? It is obvious that we haven't yet discovered the full potential of bitcoin and the blockchain technology. A lot of things are expected to be discovered with time. So a huge potential of bitcoin is still out of our reach. It can work like magic in our daily lives. Who knows, the price can also reach to such a level, which we can't even think off. So if you believe in the technology, would suggest you to keep buying bitcoins at every dip and HODL. I am sure a lot of long term investors are doing the same.
He's probably got mixed up. I see value = what it means to the individual rather than it's current price. Although, I don't see why this would be going up whilst the price would be going down. Value is probably the same as it as always been for those invested in Bitcoin for Bitcoin rather than making a quick buck and then converting it back to fiat.
5616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is what happening to BTC on: March 16, 2018, 10:19:55 PM
If you are in it for the long haul then stop looking at it's current price and think of Bitcoin's value to you rather than it's price. Especially if you are holding. The current price is irrelevant and as long as you have faith in Bitcoin and know how the economy works then it's current price does not matter to you.
5617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much need Bitcoins for start crypto business? on: March 16, 2018, 10:17:37 PM
Like eaLiTy said it really does depend on the type of business. If you don't want to buy more than you would need initially you could take it by a order basis and convert the cash into Bitcoin once you have received an order. Of course this all depends on what you are providing to the buyer as somethings might be instant. But, if it requires exchanging paper work etc and more in depth trades then you could exchange into Bitcoins once you have finalized the contract.
5618  Other / Meta / Re: My conspiracy theory about spammers on: March 16, 2018, 10:13:37 PM
The first part was a joke on conspiracy theories, wasn't being serious. I thought people would notice the sarcasm (little hard to notice over text but I still tried to make it so over the top to be noticeable).  Grin

Well economy still has 1 in 6 good threads, unlike bitcoin discussion, but still there's speculation board that has some nice topics that are worth the read for info unleast.

There's only so much you can talk about in economics so usually it's not a problem but, with Bitcoin discussion a wide variety of posts fit within it and then it's the top category and therefore there's a lot  of posts which are put in there when they belong in other sections.
5619  Other / Meta / Re: Survey Feature to the Forum on: March 16, 2018, 10:11:03 PM
What do you mean by a survey? Please give us an example because I don't think I'm understanding what you are trying to say. Are you referring to polls? Something where you can ask a question and then have people vote rather than posting replies? If so that's already implemented.
5620  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk a Deeponion forum? 【list updated】 on: March 15, 2018, 10:18:25 AM
I don't understand why the local moderator who came online sometimes does not move the reports submitted by users to the proper child boards, since the users have already lessen the local moderator burden by submitting those reports that requires his attention, I don't think it will consume much of his time to take the appropriate actions against the submitted reports after he browse through them?

The main board in the Chinese local section are filled up with threads that are not in the proper child boards, and it makes it so hard for a user to find useful content on the main board without browsing through a couple of pages to search for the information we need.

Some of the old threads that does not belong in the main board are still being bumped continuously by either swarm of bots or users that wanted to reach Jr. member with those 2-4 characters posts in Chinese, moving all those threads to the proper child boards could make the Chinese Local main board more readable for everyone, and it would also improve the Chinese local community overall by sharing useful contents regularly on the main board.

As long as there's a need for a moderator (enough reports, enough spam) then theymos will likely be willing to look into the current moderator and decide whether he needs replacing or a little help. But, as we saw recently with the french section and a few complaints about the moderator there just wasn't enough reports to justify a new mod.
