Hello all. Avalon2 setup guide will be up soon.

Is there any demand for an Avalon1 setup? I guess a lot of units (including mine) will be moving to new owners to retire now that difficulty is 2049105903billion.

As a noob, one question I have is: I have been able to SSH to the AntMiner. Is there a way to view the cgminer screen?

Same question here Smiley

I'd love to be able to see cgminer output through screen too !
screen -r doesn't work, maybe its in the code but I don't know what the command is

"The market has made their price OK to rip people off due to their ignorance, give them an A+" is what he is saying.
Quoted here for the future. You ARE asking me to downvote every company that offers up a price unfavourable to you. Remember, ASICMiner made its money for its shareholders (people in the community). And for the record, I've never held ASICMiner stock and nor do they 'line my wallet'. I have a man purse.
Heh you brought up another issue about Asicminer ...

Look at that graph I posted ... see if you can see how it clearly shows they ripped off the community who had stock in the early days ... and doing that right back at the start ...
Those people were misinformed when making investment decisions then. ASICMiner from the start published they wanted the farm of all farms. All their early hardware was sold at auction anyway, so WE set the prices. I had B1 B2 and B3 blades, I have no problem with the prices I paid because I offered to pay them.

6586  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide on: February 21, 2014, 10:31:37 PM
I think buyers should calculate themself if its worth to buy miners. A link to a proper calculator might be helpful for noobs though.
At the end... only because Asicminer was the first in the market, and started with the target to do what they did, means that they destroyed mining? It was simply inevitable. It doesnt matter who did it. It would have happened anyway.
Exactly :/ I'd have to rate every company equally responsible and then we'd just have everyone between F- and E. What's the point of that? I'm very surprised a 1k activity member is saying such weird things, I guess he just longs for the days when an FPGA was the best you could buy.

I blew my fuses as well because the ones that came with mine were 32V.  Once I purchased 12V 30A ones I was fine.  Just my two cents, hope that helps!

Fuses simply and only work with current (amps). The voltage rating is a maximum mainly due to safety, one would not want to use a fuse rated at 12 volts on a circuit of 120 volts due to safety. A 30 amp fuse rated at 32 volts will work the same as a 30 amp fuse rated at 12 volts with voltages of 12 volts or less.

If a fuse blows it is because the current (amps) exceeded the fuse rating and something to be concerned about. But it could also be a cheap fuse that can not handle it's rated current (or even less) over a sustained period of time.
Lots of fuses have blown and been replaced with no obvious problems.

^^ Lol, not even going to bother quoting that. Well aware of what you've said, but its still bullshit.

Its an open economic market, if you think its overpriced then don't buy. Its like blaming your local butcher for selling chicken at $10/lbs when walmart has it for $8/lbs. Just don't buy there. But to then cry at the local butcher, while buying his chicken.... there is no logic there.

I suggest you start here.
I don't buy.
D'oh.
Then what are you complaining about... The market sets the prices with supply and demand, like the exchanges. Should I start rating bitstamp F because they were selling bitcoins overpriced at $1200 using hindsight?

I've not looked at the SSH side, I'm sure someone will know.

Where do you get the idea that the neptunes are delayed? According to KNC they are still on track to deliver neptunes within the promised time. And until that time comes without delivery, or until they announce something different, you have no basis for claiming that there are delays. They have also time and again said that work on their mining farm will not interfere with the neptune designing. And I for one am glad to have a backup plan (hosted mining) if there eventually are delays with my neptune order. It's a win-win for customers and KNC.

They said themselves that they pushed back delivery to optimise power consumption further. It was fine before, but they wanted more.
6594  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: February 21, 2014, 11:05:16 AM
Great guide!  I like how every one has links at the top to all the other - I just find any Dogie's Guide and then click the link for the one I want.

Just a note: my new S1 arrived today, and setup is super easy now.  Plug in two PCI-E connectors and the Ethernet cable, turn on the PSU and it booted up and immediately started mining on the Bitmain default pool.  I just had to go into pool settings to set up my pools.  The only step that you might consider adding to the guide is to go into System -> Administration and change the Router Password from the default password of "root".  Just for extra safety.

As a noob, one question I have is: I have been able to SSH to the AntMiner.  Is there a way to view the cgminer screen?
Changing of the password isn't really required, only people behind your router could do anything to the settings. Its probably worth turning it off entirely.

Yep setup is now PCI-Es, but I've left the cable based setup as those 1st gen units will eventually be resold and require setting up again. Circle of life.
6595  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: February 21, 2014, 11:03:52 AM
sorry if i missed it, but......
i can set 3 pools for fail-safe.  can i make it switch between pools? like if i set 2 pools & wanted it to do so many hours @0 & so many hours @1
or am i just gonna have to manually switch it around?
That's called load balance. Fallover/failsafe means it will prefer 1 as long as 1 is up. Then it will go to 2, until 1 is up.

Asicminer has single handedly destroyed bitcoin mining.
Care to elaborate on this rather random statement?
6597  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide on: February 21, 2014, 01:02:35 AM
I ask again since when Black Arrow has delivered thierown asic (Prospero, x1,x3,minion)? Delivered is set to: yes!  They delivered as chip integrators only!
Changed to Yes (prev) to represent that.

All returns for bpmc and faulty units where fixed and compensated with double the hashrate in icefury devices.
I don't disbelieve you but I've not seen any reports of that yet. A review date is up there though.

did i supply you with all the appropriate pics?
Yes but you've not done any of your homework. The exact setup steps are in the OP. Set up your pool IP to the IP of your stratum proxy's machine, and your mining info.
