661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting correlation on: August 06, 2017, 01:29:29 PM
Apologies for dumb question, but I read somewhere that BCH will have a difficulty adjustment at block 478808, currently at block 478665. Will this change the profitability equation significantly and lure miners to BCH? Should be about a week till we hit 478808.
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: August 06, 2017, 12:08:48 AM
I think it's not possible to replace BTC by another cryptocurrency. Because Bitcoin is the King of the current crypto market. Bitcoin is going so high day by day. I hope within a couple of months Bitcoin will rich $5k. In presents world, Bitcoin is more popular with other coins. Bitcoin popularity is increasing day by day. And it will continue. I think no one currency can Beat It. It stays King of the crypto market continuously.

I see a lot of posts like this, and you may be right, but it seems very dangerous to think this way.

What if Visa or MasterCard decided to launch a cryptocurrency? Bye bye BTC!

Will it happen? Maybe, maybe not, but thinking it is impossible for something to replace BTC seems like the same way others used to think nothing could ever replace a US dollar for a transaction.

663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BAT - Basic Attention Token ICO (31-5-17)- Worth Investing? on: August 05, 2017, 11:48:42 PM
Anyone have info/updates with this? Downloaded the Brave browser and it is notably faster loading pages. Considering buying the tokens as an investment.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCH Valuation? on: August 04, 2017, 06:01:44 PM
Anyone have ideas what the BCH/BTC value should be? Currently around .14, but now that Bittrex and soon other exchanges accept coins from wallets I suppose this will dump much lower. Maybe stabilize around .10 eventually? Thoughts?

That's hard to say.  The best thing to do now if you wanna trade this market is to stay in the side lines and keep an eye on it from time to time.

Just like a newly listed ICO, this fall is expected.  But wait for the price to go sideways with low volume.  That's the right time to start buying.  But don't buy a lot right away. As the price starts to go up, that's when to start adding more.

Some traders like buying as the prices are going down.  I tried that...  It doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the advice. I bought back in a little while ago at $315 on Kraken when the price curve flattened out and started to climb, volume seems to have lowered, then starting to climb now (both volume and price). We'll see if it was a good entry point or not.

I agree with you about buying on the way down, I always buy too soon and it never works out well doing it that way for me.
665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Differentiated altcoins on: August 04, 2017, 02:35:40 AM
So many alts seem the same. I'm tired of "new crypto that is lighter, faster, better scalability than BTC!" Also tired of reading about "platforms" for others to create some mythical value in some hard to understand way.

Can anyone suggest more tangible alt coins that don't fit into the above description, and have more real world use. I'm thinking ones like Steem, Civic, Siacoin, BAT.
666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coin price alerts/notifications? on: August 04, 2017, 02:11:05 AM
I use TabTrader app for that.

Thanks for that, in the meantime I also found https://coinwink.com
667  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Could Coinbase be forced to support BCC? on: August 04, 2017, 01:21:28 AM
Users are starting a class action lawsuit against Coinbase so they can get their BCH. Anyone think this could result in Coinbase supporting BCH and allowing trading to open? Might be the easiest way to settle with these customers.

Are you not get a notice about how the network of bitcoin cash right now? You are not able to make any transaction to the exchange site. So, your complaint will be useless, the decision will be in the coin base's hand. You can't do anything for that.

Indeed, coinbase has decided to not support bitcoin cash as it may has some problems and it has been proven so far. Even for some big exchanges still halt bcash transactions due to unstable or whatever with this new altcoin. And there is a news about coinbase plans to allow bitcoin cash withdrawals in January 2018, so all of them who demand for it will be happy, or at least.
Bitcoin exchange Coinbase has reversed its decision to support bitcoin cash. The company now plans to allow customers to withdraw their new cryptocurrency by January 1, 2018.

Wow, that's big news. So it sounds like Coinbase will support trading and I assume others will be able to buy/sell/transfer BCH in Jan 2018.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alt coin price alerts/notifications? on: August 04, 2017, 12:32:27 AM
Anyone know of a mobile and/or email alert app I can get for alt coins?
669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BCH Valuation? on: August 03, 2017, 11:09:39 PM
Bittrex valuation is so much higher than other exchanges, especially compared to ViaBtc which is about .133 now vs Bittrex's ~.18.

I hesitated in sending to Bitrexx this morning since they require 20 confirmations (how long do you think this would take?) out of concern that by the time my BCC gets in their system the trade price would just be too low. We'll see..

Block times are dropping quickly, network is stabilizing. Transactions should improve slowly...

Bittrex now accepting BCH. Long transaction times, but the coins will start flowing from the wallets and the dump will begin.
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: August 03, 2017, 12:31:32 AM
no way the bitcoin can be replaced, it is too big to fail. There are too many big guys in it now.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall...

Im not saying BTC will be extinct tomorrow, but someday BTC will be overshadowed by another crypto. The only constant is change.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase Faces Backlash, Legal Risk Over Bitcoin Cash on: August 03, 2017, 12:28:55 AM
It will be an interesting case to see the legal ownership of crypto assets. People had BTC in a Coinbase account and BCH was given to the owner of that BTC. Who owns the BTC that sits in Coinbase's account?

Article explaining why it took so long to mine first 6 blocks of BCC:

very interesting, I wonder if the big miners will jump in now
676  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Could Coinbase be forced to support BCC? on: August 02, 2017, 11:37:11 PM
I agree that it is stupid and the users had plenty of warning. I have a coinable account and was getting bombarded with emails of this nature for weeks before the fork. It is a mess, and I wonder if this really will wind up in the courts.

It could be a groundbreaking case in legal ownership of crypto assets.

678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 02, 2017, 12:14:09 PM

good point! What Coin is the most profitable to mine with L3+ currently after LTC offcourse

Been bouncing around quite a bit the last couple months between Litecoin, Verge, DGB, GAME, Einsteinium, AUR and mining on Nicehash for the last couple months - and changes on an hourly basis a lot of the time.

L3+ Oct batch sold out definitely in less than 30 minutes - this is getting ridiculous, either the batches are small or BIG FARM BUYER(s) have been hammering them.

They released a batch of S9 at the same time - it's still up HOURS later, strong indication of WHY they've started branching out this year....

This has got to be big farm action. I don't think there has been nearly the same hype among us home gamers for the L3+ lately. Im wondering if the big boys are looking to diversify their mining because of the drama with BTC/BCH lately.
what do you mean by that?

Just my guesses:

Meaning the L3+ sold out quickly because of large orders by professional mining farms. There hasn't been as much excitement from the people who are non-professionals lately.

BTC/BCH is going through a period of change, and I believe these professional miners are trying to diversify their mining portfolio so it isn't all pointed towards one currency. LTC has been a very stable currency through the recent months of up/down for everything else.

680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICONOMI to the moon! Platform is online ;) on: August 02, 2017, 11:57:57 AM
Could anyone please explain what this is about? Do they invest in other coins and that's the way they will generate revenue?

If you're familiar with Index investing in a fiat stock market it is a similar concept that Iconomi uses for their platform. Professional managers create indexes that hold crypto assets and shares can be purchased by individuals. It makes sense since there are so many crypto projects. It is hard to pick the winners/losers, so buying a big bundle of them through an index fund would be nice.
