hmmm ,  everyone is bearish , everyone is selling , nobody is buying....

price is going up..

BIG SECRET BELOW
don't trust people on forums

Sort of:  Trust them to say the exact opposite of what they are doing.   They are actually the best indicator of the opposite of what's going to happen.

i dont agree, its easy to see what hand people are holding by their bearish or bullish comments and "analyst", and generally people are honest....  when they say they got ZhouTonged ...they got ZhouTonged!

you trust no one, i trust that everyone is just talking their hand trying to get price to move in the direction they want on this subforum.

So... people are honest but they are trying to move the price?

I, for one, don't believe this forum has much of an influence on the price.
(Unless there's nobody else left, which would be quite bearish IMO  Cheesy )

Looking at past action, you would always do well to hold (unless you can call those tops and bottoms like a pro - but do you want to get caught with your pants down considering what we are talking about with BTC?)

Interesting...
If really you want to be the careful type, shouldn't you wait on the sideline with your fiat ready, as price has a tendency to fall faster than going up?
663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nothing to do with Bitcoin, everything to do with Bitcoin on: June 03, 2013, 08:21:40 PM
It's definitively not on the radar of the average person, or even the average speculator.

I believed that too, until in April I learned that all my grandparents heard about it, my aunt, my coworkers, my mother's coworkers...

These are NOT technical people.

Bitcoin isn't walking in the shadows anymore.

Plus a few more where those came from... *yawn*

Hey, you are the one who asked.

Do you take apprentices?  Smiley

•Sectors with low visibility

Really? Seems to me Bitcoin has a huge visibility compared to it's market size.
668  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: June 03, 2013, 07:01:37 AM
Weeeee! 2673 BTC sold!
669  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: June 03, 2013, 06:31:55 AM
We are back to the no-volume-land.
670  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: June 03, 2013, 06:01:23 AM
PS I'm not sure exactly what you're looking at, but here's where you should have sold using the hourly system from the opening post of this thread:

Yup, but this is assuming an immediate sell on crossover (without waiting for any additional % for confirmation).
This means that while you might have saved ~7% on this drop, you would have done at least 9 other transactions in the graph you are showing, completely falling behind that 7%.
(Which you did not mention when presenting the glorious 7%.)

And what if the drop would have occurred 4 hours before it did? The first candle, which is still the bulk of the drop, could have easily occurred while the crossover was telling "buy".

In summary, my beef with this example:
  • You single out the 7% out of context to show a win, while the last days (weeks?) are clearly losing.
(Which is kinda odd, since you took the time, at multiple occasion, to show the importance of long term results.)
  • You took an example that had nothing to do with trend following, which is the sole point of your EMAs selling/buying technique.
Any further drop could be associated with hourly trend following and that would make an excellent example.

Again, I'm not disputing the technique, but the example chosen.
671  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bears, hold your coins, we are still in a corrections on: June 02, 2013, 10:55:08 PM
You have a long term time scale vs the typically much shorter time scales of bears here. I can agree with your long term trendline.

Or rather short... why does your trend line begin only in January?
672  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: June 02, 2013, 10:10:02 PM
So depending on that, price either walk ~100 -> ~120 way one more time OR start long impulse to ~$15 ... $35 right now.

And I thought I was bearish...  Cheesy
673  Economy / Speculation / Re: Going to $30-40? on: June 02, 2013, 09:25:52 PM
... but 15-20 is also possible.
Sorry, but this will not happen again.

Because...?

Because:
I see many new user, begging for a 30 $ coins, but I'm sorry, this is a Bull Trap, like most weekends. Will see the price recover before tomorrow morning. There is no reason for this price falling except a bull trap.

You're buying then?
674  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: June 02, 2013, 09:10:21 PM
Yes.
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: June 02, 2013, 08:46:05 PM
Goomboo is correct. Kinda..

Yeah, kinda.

While an immediate sell on crossover would have protected you from a 7% drop, it would have cost you a fortune in fees and slippage in the last few days:

I do appreciate the knowledge Goomboo is transmitting, but I think this is not a good example.

Also, the EMAs did not recross. The price could go back up before the next crossing.

The absence of volume is insane.

- $10 drop; buying opportunity!

Uh, I hear Proudhon's words "long downward slide" echoing in my head. Don't like it.

Oh boy.
679  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: June 02, 2013, 07:59:10 PM
I honestly don't know what to make of it.

More coins available to short, but also less bearish sentiment from previous shorters?

I'm just making a mental note for future reference. Others might know how to evaluate this.

And yes, I think you need to be registered.

Interesting: Bitfinex now has 1167 BTCs available to short, while yesterday it had ~300.
