661  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann]Purchase ASICs now: Batch 3 purchased, 4,542 chips available on: May 23, 2013, 04:38:38 AM
I intended for this update to be flashier, but here it is.

A Florida based assembly house has been secured for assembly. Final pricing is TBA once the Letter of Intent has been signed, but know it will be under $60 and 72 hour turnaround from delivery to me.

I'll be back in the office much later tonight to answer any questions you may have and record purchases.

Enjoy,

Steamboat

Hi

Is this for the k16 or k64?

Fwiw, I just received my first official update from the Avalon store confirming my order details with a status of processing. So I assume that they have indeed started processing the remaining batch 2 orders.

Good luck everyone. Hope we see our units soon

 Cheers
What's your order number and order date?

Ordered on the 3rd. Don't remember the order number and from what i understand the order number is not of much value be they are processed based on date ordered.

Have you seen any other coin, with a decent web presence WITHOUT its own forum?

This is the Bitcoin forum, and in reality they could nix the alt-coin forum tomorrow if they wish. In fact they consider the Alternative coin forum as a courtesy and nothing else.

JKC having its own forum also gives people a place to post and read without all the noise.

I am not disagreeing on this, however at the present moment given the lack of exposure/activity having a separate forum for a coin like this would only further alienate it due to lack of visibility.

Most of these "decent" coins all started off on this (ALT)forum and only branched off once they had a strong community. And if the hash rate of this coin is any indication of the strength community, then we more or less know where this coin stands.

Cheers
667  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Asic chip Mini USB miner [Post if interested] on: May 20, 2013, 03:28:26 PM
I posted somewhere way back up the thread that I thought a kit could be $16, and assembled $25, both without the ASIC. I'm not sure what the ASIC will end up costing people. I bought mine back when BTC was quite low and it was $6 each. Now I think they're going for almost double that.

I think that is still a reasonable target price now. Expect somewhat lower prices for bulk qty.

(An assembled unit would have an ASIC installed but it would have to be provided or arranged somehow, eg. a group buy sending a batch to me).

Thanks!

$25 assembled excluding the Asic seems like a fair price and I think this should sell out without any issues. At present prices we are looking at around $40 for completed unit together with an asic and basic shipping/handling (taking your $3 registered shipping which i know you mentioned somewhere). I can already see a lot resellers stocking these up and selling them in their own regions/country. This would be good as it would introduce many new users to bitcoins. Personally I am planning to buy a bulk of these and give them away as gifts to friends and family.

First test board ready to send off to the factory.
Here is a render of it 2up, 5cm x 5cm. This is the under side.
2 LEDs on other side (top): Green - Power, Red - Activity. (position marked near left edge)
Heat sink will cover from 5mm left side to near the USB connector.
The small connector at left edge is for daisy chaining or connecting to K16. (It's an I2C bus.)
Although my test boards will be green, I'm really thinking of using white for the final product (because white and LEDs are just so bling - I just need a blue anodized heat sink).

Sorry, if I missed this. But is there a estimated cost for the board and assembly (minus the chips)

Thanks

OK, back to topic please

has anybody talked to Yifu at the Bitcoin 2013 conference?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaZPnHCHnNQ

Still waiting for news on shipping...

That was a good video, thanks for posting the link (or whoever the original author) was. Cleared up a lot of stuff (about the reason for them not answering tickets and all) and Yifu does seem like a real decent guy.

Hopefully this means we should have our units within the next few weeks  Cheesy

do we need a separate forum?

no, until there is more traffic or more elaborate projects this should suffice (IMHO)

Any speculation on exchange info, or what type of open price could be expected?

I'm holding on to mine just in case...don't have much only 1500 or so but..who knows!

Morgan

This will be interesting to see how it plays out. I am guessing two scenarios :

1. There is already "insider" info that the coin is about to get picked up by one of the exchanges so you see a rash of buys on the forum

or

2.  Collect cheap enough coins, then create an artificial demand for the coins by buying them at stable rate. This creates attention to the coin, hash rates picks up (normally followed by posts stating how high the coin's hash rate is) and an exchange lists it. One of the main criteria for listing a coin is the hash rate (for security 51% and as a  gauge of popularity)

Either way best of luck and happy trading  Cheesy

I think among the many other coins, this one has a better community (lesser hostile and trolling)  Smiley

That's right  Smiley

I am paying above the current market rate...

Ok. This must mean that the coin is about to get listed (pretty soon)   Grin

Walletbit have all your addresses, it was injected in checkout URL. If you open ticket at Walletbit support and ask to confirm address, they can do it. That what I did at Feb. 2.

Trouble is addresses were being crossed from one account to another on Feb 2. I was completely unable to order that day because of all the problems. I only had a couple hours and it proved to be insufficient. I just hope they had the addresses right by Feb 3 when I actually got an order through, but since walletbit's confirmation does not include shipping information and Avalon will not answer tickets, emails, or PMs I can't be sure.

You should be able to confirm your shipping information manually with WalletBit support as they were sent over from the checkout page to walletbit. What I would do is to provide them with your full contact info and ask if this matches what they have in their database (walletbit).

I did and was able to confirm this with them. However, no further communication received or any tickets answered more than 3 months from Avalon.

675  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 15, 2013, 02:34:22 PM

I did that, long long ago. Walletbit did get back to me and confirm payment, but as I paid as guest there's no confirmation of shipping address anywhere and Avalon support tickets have all gone unanswered. Avalon could dismiss any unease in seconds by simply confirming a shipping address, but they're not so great at this whole CS thing as we're all no doubt aware by now.

To be clear I still think Avalon is head and shoulders above that other dedicated ASIC hardware vendor...who shall remain nameless, just wish they'd hire some CS reps as it would alleviate a lot of unease for all involved. Also, while I appreciate them(Avalon) trying to spread the love around and give a little known payment processor some exposure, there's no denying that walletbit completely bent the pooch over on Feb 2 & 3. I still have no record of my batch 2 order at Avalon store because they(walletbit) were completely unable to deal with the traffic they had to know was coming. Still confident I'll see my company's hardware soon despite the delays and payment processing snafu.

I could not have said it better. Just a short note to say that things were in order would have been great. Unfortunately though, its a seller's market now and I guess its just something that we have deal with.

My order was shipped and I have a tracking number. I ordered on February 3rd.

// Mechkobe
Out of curiosity, what sort of time did you place your order? (UTC)

darkip,

FWIW, I have an order placed about 10 minutes earlier than yours with no tracking and no response to tickets.

678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: JKC - The Scrypt Coin with Super Blocks on: May 14, 2013, 04:01:13 AM
Yes sir - why not...  I wanna see this on exchange, but ultimately with any coin, to further succeed, although maybe a name change ... :/

A total name change might be difficult up to this point. However, I would suggest playing around with the "JKC" tag symbols and coming up with something else that stands for "JKC". I am out of ideas at this point though

Cheers

Who cares about SolidCoin? The bigger scam chain right now is NovaCoin.

I do!  Interesting, my request to buy Solidcoins has generated quite a bit of discussion but yet no one has been willing to sell.

Anyone?

...

Anyone?
