Yeah Manchester United where playing a defensive football, but also playing a counter attack game too, the game was more of clash of the titans, as the both teams played brilliantly, though that Red card given to Dallot towards the end of game was very unnecessary, I feel the ref made a mistake on that, onana on the hand performed excellently well today, the shots he saved where really impressive, if not Liverpool would have made it 2 Goals. Liverpool actually played like a home team, they where constantly trying to maintain the pressure on Manchester United. However the game ending goalless draw, was a fair share for both teams.

Jurgen Klopp dissapointed and Erik Ten Hag prosper, his defensive strategy do actually works and they have the best defendlines that could label them to be infront against Liverpool. André Onana deserves his flowers, he made brilliant saves and gave hope for the Red Devils when everyone thought they could end up not having a relevant results. The match was entertaining, and there's presence of high pressures measured by both sides. The match, Liverpool vs Manchester united ended 0-0 with both sides giving everything to record good scores.
I agree with your line of thought, the defensive patterns Ten hag played actually paid of at some point, because i feel he set the formation with a defensive mindset,  even when he introduced rashford to the game it wasn't effective because of the pattern of play he came in to meet, they where all falling back to defend and also running to the front for counter attack, Antony was making good runs from his wing, but had poor passes and crosses to strikers especially whenever he gets close to the goal mouth.

Man Utd proving to be a hard nut to crack. I expected it btw because more often than not Big teams will often lose to smaller teams but deliver world class performance against teams in the top 4. This is becoming a norm especially this season with Chelsea deliver big performances against City, Liverpool and Arsenal but lost at home to Brentford some weeks back.
Anyway, second half is underway. I have my fingers crossed for this half and hope Liverpool finds the net on more than one occasion + 3 points.
Manchester United are playing a completely defensive strategy against Liverpool today. The United Ten Hag is well aware that Manchester United have no chance of winning against Liverpool. That is why he is keen to draw the match 0-0 by playing a defensive strategy.
Manchester United made only two shots in 65 minutes. And only 29% of ball possession. Liverpool's players have been dominating the match so far as well as trying hard to break down Manchester United's defence. But they are not succeeding. Liverpool have had 71% of the ball possession so far and have had a total of 19 shots. It will be very sad for Liverpool fans if Liverpool lose points despite such a good performance.

We don't usually see such poor defensive gameplay in the Premier League. And so I was very disappointed with Manchester United's performance in today's match. The players of Manchester United did not make any attempt to score. Manchester United is not a weak team. Despite having a strong squad, Manchester United's performance has been poor. But I would have been happy if Liverpool had won. Because in today's match, we are only dominated by Liverpool. I saw 69% possession of the ball by Liverpool players. At the same time, Liverpool players made a total of 34 shots. Even then he could not score a single goal.
However, Liverpool dropped 1 point behind Arsenal due to the loss of points in this match. Liverpool lost the top spot in the points table.
You shouldn't be disappointed by Manchester United performance, they've been inconsistent lately, remember they lost their last match, so draw against Liverpool isn't a bad idea. What is the essence of having a strong squad without winning games. So I feel they where even lucky in this game, because Liverpool where played as a home team with so much control on the ball leaving Manchester United on the defensive side.

Arsenal host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates today, looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Aston Villa last weekend that saw them relinquish their brief hold on the top spot in the Premier League table. The visitors sit 8th on 26 points, the host sit 2nd on 36 points. It will really be a match flooded with goals and this match might likely end in a draw. Mike arteta will be without some key players like Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Fabio Vieira for today’s match, all of whom are out for some periods of weeks.
Arsenal have a better advantage and chance of winning but they should expect a tight game against Brighton, in their last five games, Arsenal have lost only one game so far and have won all the other four games which kept them at the second position on the table, with 37 points just same as Liverpool who is at the top of the table with same point buy there's a good goal difference.

Ita the first half of the match already and Arsenal is showing some dominance rho it's just some few minutes so far, I think there will be some goals in tha first half of the game because they have good pressure and Arsenal is showing some good confidence buy Brighton is yet to fully show their potential buy trying to attain some stability with the game so far, I'm hoping bro see the gunners win are the end of this game, moreover they are at home and they happen to be the favourite in this game.
Arsenal have had more possession and more ball control than Brighton, but they've had a hard luck scoring goals, though Brighton have been on the defensive side, trying to contain the gunners till the end of the first half. The way matches are going currently on the premier league, one could hardly say categorically that arsenal will win the second half, I remember Manchester City in their last match when they were winning crystal palace, only for Manchester city to end up having a draw with crystal palace. So the second half might come with a lot of drama.
665  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay discrimination on: December 16, 2023, 06:40:07 PM
There has always been a huge difference in the pay scale between the white collar jobs and blue collar or skilled labor wherein the later one put in more effort physically and do more hardwork than the earlier one.

Should there be market correction done for skilled labors?

Some will say that an white collar employee is more mentally drained out hence they deserve better pay but people who do menial job stop working the world will just rot as everything cannot be done but robots and AI.

It's sometimes sad to see how they are treated disrespectfully, be it a waiter, delivery workers, cab drivers, carpenter, or construction workers as they are the pillars and without them things will start falling apart. I know some of these can be automated but not everything.
I feel the thing has to do with the company itself, because there are companies that pay blue collar job very well, big companies pay their waiters, drivers and cleaners good money too, same way some white collar jobs have also worker's with low pay grade, i believe it's has to do a lot with the company and the amount they are ready to pay her workers. there are jobs that do have low pay grade but generally it has to do with what the company has to offer not minding the skill or department the workers will find themselves.

Truthfully city have doubled their lead, obviously this will reduce the seemingly pressure Crystal palace have enjoyed before, Manchester city will now go ahead in demystifying Crystal palace and reduce their pressure entirely, because at this point Manchester city are even likely to score more goals because that's their trademark whenever they get to this point sometimes in a game.
Manchester City may not even see Crystal Palace as a threat today because other things being equal, City is supposed to take the 3 points without much stress. Since it is football, you have to physically work for any point hence, Manchester will deploy all their tactics to secure the win to close in on the major contender, Arsenal. At the moment, the match is still very dicey because one more goal from Crystal Palace will make the match end in a 2-2 draw that will see City still lagging behind the Guners.

Manchester City not winning with ease this today is an indication that they have not being the domineering force they are known as. Such a shame that they hardly score over 3.5 goals in their matches. This is the reason they are out of my chart.

I'm even surprised myself because after when Manchester City scored that second goal, i was actually thinking it was game over, as I thought Manchester City will go ahead to score more goals, however the game Crystal palace were playing anyone could easily suspect that they might come back because they were playing a counter attack pattern right from first half. But making this game 2-2 was really commendable, crystal palace defended and made good effort to fight back till the end of the game, that's why football is one beautiful game, because it's full of surprises.
667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 16, 2023, 04:34:06 PM
Manchester City are playing right now against Crystal Palace which is defending with 7 players and sometimes with the whole team, yet Grealish managed to score a goal after VAR verification. If he was like 1 cm in advance it would be disallowed and that goal might be a discussion subject.
Manchester City are pushing and Foden shot was so close. Meanwhile, Ederson deserved a red card instead of the yellow card he received! He was targeting the foot of the player and he was lucky the attack was in the side otherwise he will get red carded.
Manchester City are playing way better and the full defence tactic of Crystal Palace is useless in my opinion.
If you watch closely, Crystal palace are not that useless as you put it, looking at the way the game has been going this first half, Crystal palace have been defending no doubt, but they've also have a brilliant counter attack formula they've been using lead by olise, and it has helped them to create some sort of threat at the Manchester city defence line a little bit. No doubt about the fact that Manchester city have more fire power than them, however if it has been so easy for Manchester city, I believe the goals would have been more than one this first half.

If Manchester City can't score the second goal, they can't play comfortably until the end of the match. Crystal Palace are defending but they can score on the counter and keep City off balance. Crystal Palace are not playing well in their last games and they don't have a win, so I think City will win the game, but they still need to be careful on the counter.

Defensive teams are always dangerous against big teams. So I assume Pep is thinking about that and taking precautions, they won't want to lose points at home against such an opponent.

669  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is online bank good? on: December 15, 2023, 11:12:45 PM
Many Nigerians are used to online banks and funny to say online banks gets more customers than banks like Firstbank, Access bank e.t.c. So my question is that is online bank good? Is it safe? These are the questions I ask and some people normally ask. Many people don’t like online because it doesn’t have any office you can run to in case of any issues.

Can it get hacked?
I would actually say yes it can get hacked. It’s very easy to hack online banks.

If the phone gets missing, can you block the account?
No, if your phone gets missing and you’re using an online bank it will be easily hacked or they can easily take all your money while other banks, if you’re phone or ATM card gets missing you can go to their office and lay a complain and they will close down the account or card.
When you talk about the online banking I believe you're referring to fin-tech companies, which I believe are duly licensed by NDIC to operate some financial transactions, remember they are not allowed to run all financial transactions, like operating a pension scheme, and some large corporate accounts. Also, all accounts can be hacked, if the owners of those accounts misplace some vital details of those accounts to scammers or fraudsters wether is an online account or a regular commercial bank account it doesn't matter.
670  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Fear for Fintech banks on: December 15, 2023, 10:23:52 PM
I no believe say N.D.I.C wan stop this Banks, na rumour mongers just dey spread falsehood. However I also believe say, those our commercial banks too fit follow for people way wan put sand for the garri of fin-tech companies, because I believe say them don see how a lot of people dey troop into the fin-tech banking world, there by reducing their patronage.
So fin-tech has come to stay. Like the one's you enlisted, they all have licenses to operate within the speculated framework given to them to operate within.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 15, 2023, 08:23:31 PM
Even though Arsenal this season said it was very easy to advance to the round of 16 and become group champions, in the UCL, even in the round of 16, nothing is easy because even the unseeded team can make a surprise considering Arsenal's track record of rarely going far. As far as I remember, Arsenal's track record in the last 10X 16 has always met strong teams.

Arsenal have difficulty scoring goals because they don't have a striker who is hungry for goals, they should look for a striker in this transfer market. But I'm not sure if Arsenal won't bring in a striker in January, because Arteta wants every player to be able to score goals, not rely on just 1 player/number 9 because it's easier to predict how Arsenal will play. So he doesn't want to sacrifice his tactics for the sake of just one striker.
I believe that Jesus is a great player and he could be that person for them and been doing that a bit as well. You can't get Haaland or Kane type of players that easily, those players are rare, and finding someone like that would not be cheap neither, and can't get one during the winter break neither because those type of players are not easy to find. You can find people who could score here and there, but they are not going to be the one you are looking for and the result will not be good for you since you would pay a lot.

Let me give you an example, Vlahovic is a great player right? And scores bunch of goals for his team? Do you really think that if Arsenal spent some money and got him, they could fix all their problems? Of course not, he would not be what they are looking for. And not like they can convince Mbappe to go there neither. So what can they do? Well, just let this season end and they could look for some other player during the summer if they fail this year as well.

I believe Arsenal as a team have done very well in this campaign and deserve to be commended for what they have been able to achieve so far both in the champions League where they emerged group winners and the the English premier league where they are leading at the moment and perhaps seem to be favourites to win it if they remain consistent. That not withstanding with the way they are going, I believe some of the elite clubs in Europe are also scared of meeting arsenal in the round of sixteen considering the zeal, hardwork and character this team have shown this season have made them not just the team to watch but also a force to reckon with in Europe as a whole, arsenal is a team which any player can score goals and thats one unique thing about them which makes them stand out amongst other sides.
672  Economy / Economics / Re: Sea Piracy, it's effect on the local economy on: December 15, 2023, 08:04:28 PM
In the world of transportation, air and sea shipping are vitally important. However, while air shipping is used for its speed, sea shipping is chosen for the amount of cargo it can carry. One recent issue troubling sailors is sea piracy, especially in regions around countries like Somalia, Djibouti, and Kenya. Vessels are hijacked, entire crews are kidnapped, and they are held for ransom for months or even years. In some interviews with pirates, they claim that the lack of job opportunities led them to piracy, while others assert that former fishermen turned to piracy due to the impact of ships on fishing.

I am here to ask if anyone has considered this. We always have a choice. Piracy cannot be the sole option for personal economic growth unless it significantly contributes to the economy of these countries. It brings in quick and substantial money for the pirates, who then spend the money in their local economy. It functions as a wealth distribution system. Even people in these places might not want piracy to end because of the indirect benefits on their local economy. Do you think I am correct here?

Piracy cannot be an economic venture for people to go into, if locals that stays within sea route that cargo's pass through and then they begin to attack the ships in a bid to to kidnap the crew men for ransom and hostage taken, that's an aberration in the international law that allows cargo ship that are on a voyage to pass through without hitches or interference so long as they have the required documents to pass through. It is not an economic venture for anybody to go into piracy because the shipping companies can easily bypass that route and make use of other route or even stop bringing goods to that part of the country because they cannot make use of troubled waters.

The season may look to have more to offer but right now we almost done with the first half of the season and any team at a top position and still but in as much effort in the next half of the season can have a very good turn out at the end of the season.
Well if I were to say who would be in the top six position at the end of the season I would say Arsenal at the first position just because I think they are solid and deserve it and then Manchester city, Liverpool and Aston villa then in six and fifth would be Newcastle and Tottenham.
I have a little doubt about Arsenal's ability to end the season in the top rankings, the English league is not about whether they deserve it or not but rather how consistently they stay in the competition. Last season, no one said that Man City would finish in first place because Arsenal had such a long distance in points, but in the end in the last 10 matches Arsenal were unable to maintain their position so Man City came out as champions.

This season everything has changed where Liverpool has once again become a strong club that has a much greater chance of becoming a champion. I would put Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City as the strongest candidates to fight for the title, but I see Liverpool's chances as being much bigger compared to two other strong challengers.
Sincerely I'm having the same doubts as you too, the consistency to maintain the top spot in the English premier League is not an easy task, let's just watch how well arsenal would go about this their campaign this season, although I give it to them haven been this consistent till this time of the season, though Manchester city has have had their fair share of inconsistency this season too, so maybe arsenal could capitalize on that weakness by Manchester city to end at the top ranking of the league.
However I'm not seeing much threat from Liverpool or even Tottenham Hotspur, in any case the league is still open for Many things to still happen.

Talking about the kuda awareness, is alarming the rate at which scam has been going on social media, Kuda did the right thing to rekindle the spirit of their users for them to be aware of scams that has been going on, for them as a financial institution, it is imperative for the awareness to spread because customers might easily fall victim.

My father is an expatriate. He made us human by working hard. Now I am grown up but unemployed. As the night deepens, a thought crosses my mind every day. How my father is still working alone for us. How much heavy work he has to do regularly, he has to do his own cooking, wash his own clothes and clean himself. Our family consists of me and one sister. My father had to take a lot of debt to go abroad. For which we are burdened with debt. Now I work along with my studies to run the family. I want to save money and invest in Bitcoin in the future even though I have worked hard because of the idea about Bitcoin. So that I can benefit from here, so that I can help my family financially and put a smile on my parents' faces. Sadly, we don't even have a house of our own at present.

Your family situation is an emotional one, as i see that your on a voyage to rescue your families financial status, for which i can relate going by your write up. Something the financial background of our family can really affect us in a way or the other, sometimes psychologically it can drain us, but with courage and steadfastness, you will surmount it. Your idea in investing on Bitcoin is a brilliant one, but you should do it little by little with amounts you can afford, bitcoin investment is something you will not see the return in investment almost immediately, it will take time but trust me your patience will really pay off over time.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 14, 2023, 06:41:43 PM
Apparently this is a true live event happened in my State this week and almost everyone is talking about it. About a young man that killed himself after a gamble loss, he even left a message for his family and friends before taking his life.  But I wonder why should someone take his own life  just because he lost  #2.5 million to gambling an amount  equivalent to just about $3k. I can relate to his loss but taking your life is something unimaginable and unjustifiable to do. No matter the regrets suicide isn't an option to be taking as a solution , you are only leaving bigger pains  behind for your loved ones.

This is just another reminder to we all gamblers that no bet is sure and guaranteed, don't ever use an amount of money you are not comfortable to lose just because you feel convicted in your mind that the game will play as predicted. There's no such thing as sure bet in gambling.

Question: Is there any amount lost that can make you commit suicide?

If yes, then don't ever use such amount to gamble.
It is really unfortunate for this kind of situations to still occur even with the wide publication about the fact that you should only gamble with amount that you can to stand to lose without regretting. As a gambler the last thing that should be in your mind is greed, once you allow greed come into play you will begin to have situations like this, This person could have choose to have staked with a lesser amount of money that he could afford to lose, but he just wanted to double his millions withing hours.

Quote from: 3meek
After the first half and Newcastle's dominance, I didn't expect Milan to be able to make a comeback in the second half... But Newcastle were unlucky and the European season is over for them... Maybe they could have been lucky if they had a different group... Hopefully I can see them in the Champions League again next season...
Newcastle united started the game well in the first half hope that they will maintain the tactics till the end of the game, but it was a surprised in the second half for Milan to equalized the goal and still beat Newcastle united 1:2. It was painful that Newcastle united didn't qualify for their group because, they did not start this season well like the way they started well last season that made them to be among the teams that qualified last season despite they didn't win the trophy but they beat many teams to stopped them not to qualify like what some teams and Milan did to them not to allow them to qualify in this season.
I don't think their group is the caused of their failure in this season because the teams in their group are not too strong compare to when Newcastle united was displaying based on their coach impact that was making them to disgraced some teams that qualified in this champion league competition this season.

Seriously, Newcastle started the match with a very good strategy that made me think that AC Milan cannot even score a single goal because if we should talk about the team that dominated themselves for the match, that should be Newcastle since they are aware that if they lose, they won’t go anywhere again, so they play and try the best they can to win the game, but unfortunately they were unlucky to do that. The second half was also good. Newcastle still did a good job; they played well, but the game wasn’t in their favour. I hope to see them next season again.

However, the group cannot stop a team from qualifying. The group has teams that are not strong, and those that are strong, every squad will play their own game based on how they see it will bring a positive result for them, so although the group that Newcastle was in was not that strong when compared to Newcastle's performance, that is why I can’t say their group made them fail. The season was not in their side. If not, last season was good for Newcastle. They beat top teams last season.
Sincerely speaking I thought Newcastle would maintain their winning  from the first half especially considering the style of play they were playing, because they were really dominating the midfield and the attack, I was almost sure that Newcastle will score more goals in the second half, but this is the game of football anything can happen even in the die minute.
I feel Newcastle should have scored more goals during the first half, at least to seal their victory, the come back from Milan for me was really unprecedented given the way it all started.

                                             Newcastle Vs Milan

Newcastle have been impressive with their style of play at the st James park, making the visiting team very uncomfortable and increasing the attacking force even without the presence of the heat striker Alexander Isak, at the beginning of the game, mlian where a bit resistant in trying to contain the Newcastle attacking force, fikayo Tomori has been defending like a wounded lion for the visiting team. However Newcastle where able to see the back of the net, making it 1-0 towards the end of the first. If Newcastle continues this style of play, they might score more goals in the second 45 minutes.
679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 13, 2023, 07:52:42 PM
We know that gambling can be very addictive for people who might not be going about it responsibly and that if most beginner are not properly guided by experienced individual that have heard a share of their personal experience in irresponsible gambling,  they will become a victim of gambling addiction and might have a marred thought process as it regards safe gambling

so I'm thinking if it would be possible for a thread or sub board to be created in the form of a mental  orientation section that people can just visit and go through ethics of responsible gambling, share experiences and current challenges faced as a gambler. It could just be used for discussions regarding responsible gambling and do if ones goes through the board or thread, while starting or going about his gambling, their will be check in his jar it as a result of peoples lives experiences he has read.

I just said I should air this out, I don't know if this is possible or a better suggestion should be giving.

Well the idea of creating a sub board that will discuss about the mental health and the responsibility of gamblers is a welcome development because most times gamblers tries to lose their guards or forget that gambling can be very addictive, so if there is a caution board that tries to always remind gamblers of the needs to have a straight mental health while gambling is a good idea. Though for every betting or gambling website, it is always stated that gambling is meant for people from the age of 18 years and above, so to a large extent you can also argue that the betting companies to try to give their own warning ahead of time, because it is believed that at the age of 18 and above you should have the mental capacity to handle some certain activities in your life or should be emotional matured.

I just felt I should bring this up here maybe it will help someone in managing expectations and the entire gambling process.

From experience, I have realised that many people run into problems when they focused so much on winning a particular bet amd when such bet fails, they easily slide into psychological crisis.  Considering that gambling is a game of probability with the chances of losing higher than that of winning, it is therefore expected we work out ways of approaching it so we can remain profitable.

One way of approach is to focus on winning certain number of bets in a series of bets. For instance, you can target to win at least 4 bets in a series of 10 bets with the odds being at least 5 odds. This way, you can lose 6 times and win 4 times yet you still remain highly profitable.

This is my approach and through it, I don't get depress over few loses. This method works for me and I feel it will also work for others. Your opinion are highly welcomed.
One thing you should understand about betting is the fact that there is no amount of permutation of your bet games that will give you the predicted results you certainly want, betting is unpredictable so your 5 odds might not even go the way your predicting, 4 bets in a series of 10 bets with the odd being 5, that 4 bets might not go your way too.
People sliding into psychological crisis while betting, has to do with the addiction and their level of maturity, gambling is for mature minds, is for people that can take a bow and go when they know that they've lost a lot and try to fight another day.
