6641  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone got Tor working for Linux? on: July 21, 2014, 01:24:27 AM
I did have a slight problem when I tried to install Tor on Slackware. However, I manged to find out the problem. Let me just make sure you are installing it correctly first:

Installation:

- Download Linux Tor Browser.   Link (https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en)
- Extract the file:
32 bit:
Code:
 tar -xvJf tor-browser-linux32-3.6.2_LANG.tar.xz
64 bit:
Code:
 tar -xvJf tor-browser-linux64-3.6.2_LANG.tar.xz
Note:Obviously replace version number if it's a newer or older build. Also replace <LANG> with your language. (just copy the name of the .tar.xz)
- Change to the tor directory:
Code:
 cd tor-browser_LANG
- Then run Tor browser with
Code:
 ./start-tor-browser

Now, you should see some activity in the terminal. If you get a error like:   "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting." then try this little fix:

- Use the text editor and open the start-tor-browser script file. Search for these lines:
Code:
 if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; then
complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root.  Exiting."
exit 1
fi
- Comment the whole of it out, for example:
Code:
 #if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; then
#complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root.  Exiting."
#exit 1
#fi

That is the one problem which I ran into a while back but, looked at why there was a exit=1 and edited it a few times and finally got it too run. If you are a experienced user you would of used this method so many times. I would recommend commenting it out and not actually removing it, it's good practice.

If you still can't get it to work if you could provide a terminal log then I'm sure we can sort it out. I took a shot in the dark as you didn't really supply us with any information about what error you are getting so this could be totally unrelated.

would ask instead that you please make others aware of the behavior of those that run and moderate this site forum

Regards!

What I would suggest instead of going into things with guns blazing is to actually contact the person who deleted/moved the thread. (I know he's already commented now) There is most likely a explanation in all cases which not many would disagree with. The moderators are normally spot on about things and if they aren't for what ever reason, they'll try to fix it. No problem is solved by screaming and shouting.

Of course, it's already been stated in your case that you were asking/begging for donations without any charitable cause.
6643  Other / Meta / Re: trust ratings on: July 18, 2014, 05:05:20 PM
lets say u send somebody btc and they dont send the product, so what stops somebody from leaving a negative rating for you after you leave a negative rating for them, they are dishonest so is it hard to believe they would be vindictive... also what do you do if some body leaves a negative feedback and they are not even claiming they have done business with you - they just think you would be a scammer if u did do business

If you always use a Trusted Escrow. Then, you shouldn't have to worry about this. People with little intelligence realize you shouldn't rely on the trust rating from a unknown person who you don't know anything about. If it's spam talk to a moderator, if not then don't worry too much as a lot of people use their own judgement and nearly 99% of time will ask for a escrow.
6644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now excepts bitcoin! on: July 18, 2014, 04:30:59 PM
Pretty good news considering Dell are known for good quality (ish) computers and I will always accept a discount when paying for Bitcoin! Great stuff. I know where the majority of Bitcoiners will be getting their new computers this year.
6645  Other / Off-topic / Re: Places you want to travel to before you die on: July 18, 2014, 09:21:36 AM
I've stated previously I would love to go to Alaska and stay for a few months, also would love to go visit Canada. To of my favorite places which I would love to go and live. However, I would also really like to visit the catacombs in Paris. Paris doesn't really interest me but, what's underneath does.
6646  Other / Meta / Re: How do you Hero members of this forum feel when you look newbies! on: July 17, 2014, 04:51:12 PM

Honestly, I don't have a problem with Newbies which use their brain, common sense and problem solving skills. Those who don't have a clue and expect everyone to bow down to them really annoy me.
6647  Other / Meta / Re: Accuracy down to 98% on: July 15, 2014, 02:14:20 PM

I cant talk for the others in the top10 but Im almost allways at >90%. 7 are mods so they are at or over 90% as well, which leaves 2 which might "throw shit at the wall". I however doubt that is true. While it is encouraged to make many reports and worry about your hit ratio later, IMHO people learn which reports get accepted and which not. No, there is no direct feedback but you see which threads get moved, which get deleted and which stay. You see the mods work and thus learn what to put where.

I was at 7th. (may of changed now) I used to report a lot but, stopped because I felt I may of been annoying the mods by reporting so much. I did approach a moderator and asked them if I should continue to report or is it annoying. the mod who I spoke to said it was fine and is a big help to those that have to deal with the forum problems. I've started back up recently and now have 568 reports with 98%. I honestly don't believe the majority of those who report will have under 90% accuracy.

I think people focus on the percentage more than they should though. If you are reporting (with good reason) it's showing your intent to help it doesn't really matter what percentage is correct as there are a lot of posts which could be seen either way, bad or good.
6648  Other / Meta / Re: Congrats hilariosandco on: July 14, 2014, 03:35:47 PM
Congratulations. But I have a question. How someone can become staff member? You need to be famous or something?

Reporting posts accurately and being active when many other staff members are not active. I think I would be right in assumming that they have staff which pretty much cover the forum 24 hours with the amount of staff and different time zones. Especially with Hilariosandco as he was very active throughout the day. He's on for at least 4 hours a day minimum. I don't also believe there aren't many mods from the UK which I believe Hilariosandco is from the UK.

I can't imagine they would need many more staff , if any.
6649  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck Summer! on: July 13, 2014, 02:27:16 PM
I obviously live in Wales which is located in the United Kingdom. We don't normally have very nice weather. Actually, I didn't know what sun was until I went  abroad. One thing I can tell you is I much prefer winter and hate the summer. Over here it gets very humid when we do have a spell of sun I think it's a much different type of heat to places like america etc. In fact I love this country in the winter and look forward to it all year around. Last few days we've had 25 degrees which is like a solar apocalpyse for us.
6650  Other / Off-topic / Re: Want to learn a programming language. on: July 12, 2014, 03:08:33 PM
I learned many languages through books that I purchased from Amazon. But, you could try out Learnstreet and coursera. They are pretty good for learning many subjects. Except Learnstreet is only for Python, ruby and Javascript as far as I remember. Depending on what you want to do is what type of programming lanaguage you will want to learn. A lot of people like to start off with object oriented langauges such as Python. I started with python and moved onto Javascript and then C++.
6651  Economy / Lending / Re: Locked keys in car, between jobs, need 1 Btc fast, pay 10% interest. on: July 11, 2014, 08:16:40 PM

That is correct I have been watching and reading the thread. Thanks for the updates you have been doing.
6652  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Do Philosophers Do? on: July 11, 2014, 06:34:42 PM
Look at Dank. His posts are written in a 'philosopher' way. Although, some of us may find it frustrating, some might absorb their knowledge, information or bullshit. I believe philosophers are presenting you with a point, a view or opinion on something or someone. Or maybe they are sharing their knowledge and/or opinion or maybe their way of life. Basically, they speak and write about their perspective about objects, life and other shit.

They try to enlighten, Persuade, or guide.

no that's bullshit, dank is not a philosopher.. it's more like new age spirituality tinged with psychosis.

Granted most of it is shit. He's talked about his life and how he likes to live it a few times. He's provided what he thinks about the governent and many other things. So, yes. He has gave his view. Even, if we disagree he has shared us how he likes to live his life and he has also hinted that many others should try his way too. I'm talking a bit back now and not the most recent posts that he has made.
6653  Other / Meta / Re: Accuracy down to 98% on: July 11, 2014, 06:25:07 PM
Haha. I didn't realise it was that many. I guess I must be 'spamming' the reports too?  Cheesy.

Funny you should mention that. I thought I was spamming to much so slowed down on the reporting lately. But, now I've seen your post reports and I've barely scratched the surface! Good job buddy.

6655  Other / Meta / Re: Trust graph on: July 11, 2014, 06:03:17 PM
Dot and Neato are pretty messy in general. I'll take a look at some of the other layouts and see if we can get something which would look half decent. Although, that's a pretty large graph and I can't imagine it being easy.

(If I get time)
6656  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 08, 2014, 09:09:00 AM
Brasil without Neymar aren't anything special. Brasil have a few key players who carry the rest of the team.

USA, I Believe that we will win  Grin

It will be a tough game against Belgium. Very good side indeed.
6659  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: June 28, 2014, 07:26:02 PM
Brazil is in top form

If that's top form they will be very lucky to get into the semi finals let alone win the world cup.
