6661  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ARE WE SEEING COVID-19 BEEN DEFEATED/BEATEN THIS YEAR ?! on: January 05, 2022, 08:11:40 AM
If by defeated/beaten you mean that people stop caring then I think we may see that this year.  Vaccines are available for those that want them.  Masks are socially acceptable now for those who want to wear them.  All we need to do now is stop trying to force these vaccines and masks on people who don't want them in their lives and we can all move forward.  The question is how long will governments continue to try and test their level of control over their populace?  I'm guessing as we get closer to the campaign trail for the 2024 presidency, the administration in the US will switch the narrative to them having saved the day.  Probably why they're dumping 500,000 free tests that nobody asked for on Americans right now.  They need a spike in the numbers so they can tout their reduction of covid later on.
6662  Economy / Collectibles / Re: (POLL) The Next Poster! on: January 05, 2022, 08:03:31 AM
I'll grab one of the Nasty Mining (holos from the NastyFans minted seats and some other products I've made) posters if you decide to make them at some point.  Thanks for including them for consideration.  Grin

I'd love to see a Casascius hologram poster as well at some point.  I think those would be the most sought after.  I really like the posters I have seen from you thus far.  You do good work and capture the holograms better than I've seen anywhere else.  Keep up the amazing work and I will look forward to seeing how far you can take this series.  Good luck!
6663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 05, 2022, 07:41:35 AM
I lose my bet on this game but Ja Morant is really awesome.

He is fun to watch.  Amazing how he goes up to try and dunk over anyone despite being the lightest player in the NBA.  His bounce is not human.  He's young enough that he'll be able to do some amazing things for years to come.  Easily the best highlights in the league.

Today is the day...  Kyrie taking the floor for the Nets to try and help them snap a 3 game losing streak against the Pacers.  I just wish it was being televised nationally so I'd get the opportunity to watch it, but I'll settle for catching highlights on ESPN/youtube...

OP, since your problem is solved then I suggest closing this thread. Not to discourage spammers "I'm sure spammers don't dare mess around here", but it's because your problem is solved.

Best advice,

If your problem is solved, please close the thread.

Owl give you the same advice.  Owl of the sudden it seems like it's time to close the barn door on this thread before it becomes a real free-for-owl.  If people wanted to keep talking about it though, I'm owl ears.  Following this tail has been a real hoot.  Owl always be glad to read stories like this having a happy ending.  Next time make sure to double check your sending addresses instead of trying to wing it.  A mistake like this could have led to someone getting their talons into your coins.  Stay wise.

The old Blockfolio App (now FTX) works great.  I highly recommend checking it out.

6666  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] Hey Bitcoiners! Can You Send Encrypted Messages? on: January 04, 2022, 11:43:05 PM
Someone should please help me show me how to send encrypted message or sign a message. I understand that if I loose my account to hackers I will have to sign a message to show the admin that I am the real owner of the account.

Take a look at the first post in this thread.  There is a link to a guide that will show you how to send encrypted messages and sign messages using your key.
6667  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 04, 2022, 10:06:57 PM
Feels to me like we’re seeing some accumulation going on here at these levels. I wish it wasn’t happening at a downward slant but the longer we go sideways while the market becomes more bearish, the bigger the explosion will be when the market changes gears. We just need a catalyst for the market to decide which way it wants to run.

6669  Economy / Collectibles / Re: BitMex is sending a physical bitcoin to the moon in summer of 2022 on: January 04, 2022, 08:00:32 PM
I was wondering... if the hologram / glue applied / private key printed paper (etc.) will survive the moon surface climate.  Huh

Is anyone knowledgeable enough to comment on the possible effects? (cosmic radiation etc. etc. that might affect the coin condition).

I assume it depends on various factors such as coin metal(s) composition, encapsulation (plastic?), private key etched of paper printed etc. + on the total time that coin will remain on the surface.

Maybe they should have used a NastyFans Minted Seat coin.   Tongue

Seriously though, this is pretty awesome.  I hope the coins they offer are denominated smaller than 1 BTC because I'd like to own one but I'm not sure locking more of my BTC into a collectible I'll never sell or peel is a good idea...  The thought of some "enterprising" person going to the moon to find 1 BTC is pretty cool.  Who knows, maybe someday Bitcoin will become so valuable that it actually helps pay for the cost of the trip to the moon.   Cheesy
6670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump Says Crypto Is 'Very Dangerous' ... but ... on: January 04, 2022, 07:52:34 PM
This situation is one of the more bizarre things going on in crypto right now.  Melania seems to be very obviously making a cash grab, and I doubt she'd do it without Donald's blessing.  I'm sure he was pitched the idea of launching his own NFTs and decided that it was something he didn't want connected to himself, so he had Melania do it.  Maybe if her NFT is a success and nobody complains about it being a scam, Donald will take a look at doing one himself.  It wouldn't surprise me if he uses NFTs to help raise funds for his 2024 election run, which I think would be a pretty good thing for NFT visibility.
6671  Economy / Gambling / Re: VR online casinos? on: January 04, 2022, 07:49:44 PM
I have a buddy who swears by VR casino games.  He's always trying to get everyone to buy an Oculus and join him.  Personally, I don't think the technology is quite there yet for a good experience, but it's definitely cool.  I hear the new 4xxx series graphics cards from nvidia should be a huge step forward for this sort of graphics rendering that should boost the graphics potential of VR games to the next level.  We'll see.  I think in another 5 years it will probably be fairly normal entering the metaverse with a VR headset.  I'm sure many people will even be used to using it for work meetings.
6672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 04, 2022, 07:11:34 PM
This is somewhat of an above average week for NBA fans.  We've got Kyrie making his season debut for the New Jersey Nets tomorrow, then we've got Klay making his season debut for the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.  Plus, we've got the all star voting kicking off...  TNT also returns to airing NBA games on Thursday with their first NBA on TNT night of 2022.  A good week.  Tonight, I'll be keeping my eyes on the Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers.  Both teams seem anxious for some sort of roster mix up, but I think LeBron will be able to bring the Lakers the W tonight.
6673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 04, 2022, 01:03:55 AM
Looks like Kyrie will be back on the floor for the Nets against the Pacers on Wednesday for his season debut. It will be interesting to see if he fits in right away or if there’s a struggle with him running the offense. Given how the rule changes effected James Harden this year, Kyrie is most assuredly a welcomed addition to the team.
6674  Other / New forum software / Re: Checksum verification for quoted messages/posts on: January 03, 2022, 10:19:49 PM
Interesting feature !
I indeed see it working mainly with PMs because posts can be edited and if it's a longer post it would be modified (shortened) anyways.

Users can currently send/post incorrectly quoted messages to assist in scams or discredit other users...

And when the checksum verifies show the title green like links:

I can see it's utility...

What a great and simple way to put my idea into use.  Thanks for posting this.  I like this implementation.  It's simple to see and if you weren't aware of it or cared, it isn't in any way disruptive.  When I think about how much money could have been saved from users falling victim to MITM scenarios with this feature, it makes me feel like this should be a fairly important feature that should be implemented either on this forum, or the new one.  It seems like so many of the recent forum changes have centered around turning users against each other as they compete for merit and trust, it would be nice if a feature was put in place to help protect those that need protecting instead of empowering users who advertise services to launder money for successful scammers.
6675  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk improvement proposal (BTIP)-suggestion on: January 03, 2022, 10:04:38 PM
I'm not sure how long the forum has been around or when it was first publicly launched, but it's undeniably one of the most popular bitcoin interactive forum.

I can answer this for you.  This forum was launched right after satoshi disappeared and was no longer active in the community.  It is a misconception that satoshi ever posted here.  He did not.  I also think this forum is a small part of Bitcoin interactions.  When this forum was full of developers and people creating use cases, ya, definitely.  Ignoring enforcement of the rules and allowing trolls to harass these people until they no longer wanted to be a part of this community kissed that goodbye.  Now I think Twitter is undeniably the spot where most crypto interaction takes place as they actually have community standards that are enforced.
6676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 03, 2022, 08:19:00 PM
Still no nationally televised games yet in 2022...  Looks like the first games we're all going to have access to watch will be on Thursday night on TNT when the Celtics match up against the Knicks and the Clippers play the Suns.  This might also be the first chance Shaquille O'Neal has to talk about his new charity NFT project, Shaq Gives Back.  I imagine that might spark some good comedic back and forth between Shaq and Chuck about the value of NFTs.  You already know Charles Barkley won't have any clue what they are but will for sure have some good jokes lined up about them...
6677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a fatal flaw in bitcoin? on: January 02, 2022, 07:21:25 PM
The worst flaw in Bitcoin is that it is governed by human beings who have the ability to do things like put in place a limit on blocks to push their own developed solutions on everyone.  If Bitcoin were created 10 years earlier, these folks would have been talking about the dangers of raising the limit beyond 56 kilobytes.  I think satoshi put in place this limit as a temporary measure while things were put in place to protect against the attack vector thinking we were all on the same page, as it is clear as day that technology will one day make a 1mb blocksize limit laughably tiny.  By not putting in place a way for blocksize to adjust dynamically before his death, he allowed Bitcoin to fall victim to this flaw of human interference.  Imagine if Bitcoin had a static difficulty...  Ya, it's that stupid.
6678  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Diversifying Your Portfolio in Crypto on: January 02, 2022, 07:15:48 PM
Diversification is always important.  For me, I think owning Bitcoin is a good idea, but so is having some ETH staked at 4.5%, having some BNB staked at 20%, having some CAKE staked at 60%, owning an NFT, owning a micro cap like Namecoin, lending out MATIC at 1.5%, and providing liquidity pairs like SAND/USDT is probably a good idea too.

Those are just some ways that you can diversify not just your holdings, but also your revenue in crypto.  So many people want to trade their way to riches, but it really isn't necessary.  The crypto infrastructure has advanced to the point where there are plenty of opportunities to let your crypto work for you while you relax and watch your holdings grow.
6679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk guesses who bitcoin's mysterious creator Satoshi Nakamoto is on: January 02, 2022, 07:09:20 PM
I thought it was hilarious seeing Elon be asked if he was satoshi.  The fact he felt he actually needed to clarify he wasn't was a bit funny to me.  I saw a meme that perfectly described it...  It showed Elon denying being satoshi and then said, "nobody thought you were."  Which I felt was pretty accurate.

Elon does some pretty amazing stuff, but he isn't sitting around at night trying to code a new global financial unit.  He thinks crypto is a neat little game but his attention goes toward making mankind a multi-planetary species.  The fact is that Elon probably knows less about crypto than many people on this board, but his knowledge of money and criticisms of Bitcoin are valid.  Bitcoin developers who think they know more about money than the richest person on earth should probably give themselves a reality check...
6680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 02, 2022, 07:03:11 PM
I don't think there will be immediately chemistry though, Bosh has been out for years and maybe he will be given limited minutes too. Maybe some fans are going to be sentimental to see him play with Lebron again. But it doesn't mean it will translate that the Lakers will become a good team. There's a lot that needed to be done in Lakers, I mean we have seen how the team turns into a the laughing stock of the NBA because of it's superstars not jiving along and have streak of losses.
I seriously doubt that anyone would be willing to take that risk. Bosh was basically "forced" to retire because he had heart disease and that's why he is not playing anymore, I really do not think that he could come back because teams didn't want to play him. He is already out of contract I believe, been a few years probably, he could go to any team he wanted to and still didn't because teams didn't want a player dying on the floor.

Considering covid is also a risky thing, combine that with what Bosh has, it would be very horrible for him to actually play in that level anymore. We have to realize that he is just too old and too out of shape but more importantly too risky to sign right now.

LeMarcus Aldrige had a similar scare and is back on the court after some time off.  I don't think Bosh would be much different.  He says he's in playing shape and that's good enough for me to see him get a 10 day contract.  He'll either be good or he won't, but at least he'd get a chance to end his career on his terms, which I think he deserves.

I'm not liking the lack of nationally televised games recently.  Looking forward to TNT, ESPN, & ABC getting back in the routine and airing some games.  They got me over here using my free time to do housework...
