The COOLEST feeling ever  - BTW, just today I purchased 100x more DRK than was in said payment, but it means nothing in comparison. This old fart feels like he has given a new lease on life and is immensely grateful to Evan and every single member of this community for the opportunity to be a tiny little part of the most exciting development since the Web itself. I loved this shadowy discussion as well There are whispers in Darkcointalk forum that a Chinese exchnage with large volume (name not disclosed yet) is going to adopt Darkcoin trading soon  So soon those masternode earnings are gonna feel even better  i bet that undisclosed exchange is mentioned on a certain darkcoin reddit post....... Anyway, all ideas on how to recruit developers are welcomed!
We should just start a thread on Alternate cryptocurrencies that Darkcoin wants more devs. Preferably Evan does it so it has credibility. And we should tweet it as well. I don't believe funding solely with donations will work, few generous holders will donate, and the rest will sit on their wallets freerolling. Currently 25% of the block reward goes to masternodes, 75% goes to miners. So why not 1% to dev fund / foundation? That would mean 28 DRK / day minimum. Not much, but the price will only go up from here, right? Or maybe even 5%? And the idea that masternodes could vote how the funds are used is awesome. How to implement that though when there is so much else to implement as well is another matter. Actually something like a percentage of masternode payments going to a developer fund. Start at a certain percentage and have it track the emission rate of the coin. Ten percent is a good place to start decreasing over time.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with shojayxt. 10% of the block reward to dev fund for the next 6 months, decrease to 8% for the next 6, and so on, until it's 1%. At that point the value of that 1% could potentially be very high. 10% of the reward is at the minimum 280 DRK /day btw. I agree DRK should fund its Devs, no problem taking scraping it of the masternodes revenue, it is a sound idea. Also with coding it to decrease over time is a good idea. Far better option than merging and printing coins question is : would it jeopardize the main goal of getting 3000 MN up an running in a certain timeframe (which is necessary to make Instant TX work properly and securely) |

maybe the darkcoin team and shadowcoin team can form a strategic alliance and lent out some of their
developers (they seem to have 8 or 9) for a short term period to help out the darkcointeam with wallet
GUI development and maybe other technical development ?
Not sure what the darkcointeam could do for shadowcoin team though.. maybe help them with Instant Tx in the
near future ?

I just compiled the SDC QT wallet and am not seeing any of this alleged eyecandy? I see a bog standard bitcoin wallet with a dark theme and a chat tab.
I made an encrypted p2p chat app in python in under a day a few months ago. Don't speak c++ so can't add it to the DRK QT wallet but it would be simple for anyone that could code in c++
I'm struggling to share the optimism here, or see much value in the proposition as it stands.

its a shame that we as community cant take the time to discuss this properly with more details and more time
now we have talked it over in like 10 minutes and brushed it away. I'm not saying i'm for or against the proposal
but i would have liked more time to discuss it.

forming strategic alliances is nothing new in the business world and also nothing new in the cryptocurrency world (think of Doge & LTC combined mining),
I realise this proposal comes as a shock for many (for me too) , but this is really just the discussion phase .. lets take the time and think it over.

Which is all fine and dandy if it happened without printing new DRK. If it came from the existing DRK supply so be it, but not changing the supply. It's a horrible idea. the way i see it this is a one time print / burn thing so Shadowcoin can be merged into Darkcoin, after that its just one coin / one blockchain and a whole lot of new users I think we will need to discuss this some more, but there is a certain need to combine forces for the alt coins in order to survive and Evan will not stay lead developer forever.... so there needs to be some thought for the future of Darkcoin and its development team as well. |

how far are we with the pools ? is anyone monitoring which big pools still need to update ?
Are we going to sent reminders perhaps tomorrow to get them on the correct version in time ?
