Should imagine Theymos has disabled embedding flash videos for security reasons.

Update: As I expected Theymos has indeed disabled embedding with the flash tags:
Code:
 [flash=x] [/flash]
6662  Other / Meta / Re: Can we make posting 3-10x in a row illegal please? on: June 06, 2014, 01:52:02 PM
I know how you feel about ignoring people. When literally it's the whole page which are ignored. That's one of the reasons I stopped ignoring people and removed them from my ignore list. These 'double posts' are ridiculous a simple edit would be much more effective and less irritating.
6663  Other / Meta / Re: Is not it referral spam ? on: June 04, 2014, 08:40:14 PM

Unfortunately no. Once a report has been marked as a bad one, it can't be changed.

Theymos would be able to change it as a 'good' report if he wanted too.  But, I don't think people care all that much about report success to trouble Theymos.
6664  Other / Off-topic / Re: hitler lends to Dank (video) on: June 03, 2014, 11:08:42 PM
"I think you have been smoking the Dank" Now that made me laugh as well as the TF reference. I hope we see more of these videos on noteworthy or unworthy people in the Bitcoin community.
6665  Economy / Digital goods / Re: $5 Ultimate Game Card on: June 03, 2014, 10:01:01 PM
I can help escrow this transaction for free if you want.  Just PM me whenever you need Smiley

Also, how much in BTC?

I'll take that into consideration and whoever is looking to buy accepts using you then I have no problems using you in the future. I'm awaiting offers for the card as I have no need for the card so cheaper than face value.

6667  Other / New forum software / Re: Reducing miscateogrized posts on: June 03, 2014, 07:24:15 PM
That's a really nice feature suggestion, although there may be problems and we will still see posts in the wrong categories this could reduce the work load of the moderators and also reduce the irritation of others. I've never seen such a system be put in to place and I believe we could experiment with it.

It's always a good idea to have a back up feature. This would be extremely useful when moderators/admins are not online and can't move topics immediately. At the moment when reporting a thread it can take a few hours for it to be dealt with because no staff members are online. So this could be used as a fail safe. So having this little wizard may prevent some threads getting posted in something completely unrelated to the topic.

I'm not too sure about the being banned for "lying". Because, some people may not understand the question and put a wrong answer. If it's a obvious attempt to miscategorize then there should be warnings given out. For example, the question is "What language is the post written in?" and they respond with German when it's in English. Because, in my eyes this is directly related to trolling.

I like this idea and think this should be a item put up for consideration for the new forum software.
6668  Other / Off-topic / Re: PC Gaming Thread on: June 03, 2014, 03:23:51 PM
If you like medieval games then I'm sure would love to play Mount and blade if you haven't already. Mount And Blade: Warband is my favorite which I would recommend anyone who likes the traditional RPG and medieval game. If you enjoy history then you could further the experience by installing a few mods which just makes the game feel like a real simulator.

Other than my suggestion, I would recommend getting Morrowind and Skyrim.
6669  Other / Meta / Re: Selling/Purchasing account on: June 03, 2014, 02:43:25 PM
They would not get banned for purchasing the account. Trading accounts is allowed and is not punishable. As long as the account has not been hacked there will be no issue. However, it is highly frowned upon by the community of course.

firstly, sorry for the delay. spent the weekend in the hospital... nothing to worry about though! all is back to normal now. well, close enough anyway.

with how bitcoin has risen the last few days, and having missed some work due to this hispitalization, i can't send .4 as previously discussed without pushing my food budget and such far too close. i just bought .246 on virwox, so should be able to send that, or close to it. i forget what the withdrawal fee there is.

Not having much luck are we?  We need to write a comic about your life with all the events that you go through I think we can put it in the action packed category. Whatever you can send will be good.
6671  Other / Meta / Re: Accuracy down to 98% on: June 02, 2014, 03:26:06 PM
I've contacted a few moderators in the past with questions. I wanted to know more about the moderation policy and what to report and what not to report. Also, things which I should be looking out for and help as much as I can. Although, I came to conclusion that there are no defined rules. Each moderator using their own initiative, imagination and common sense. So, they suggested that if you think something is infringing a 'rule' report  it and give a explanation why you have reported it or you could even write what would be a better alternative. For example, reporting a thread and stating "wrong forum" isn't always helpful, because they may disagree, but putting "Wrong forum, move to service discussion" for example is giving your opinion on where that thread is better suited. They may disagree with you or might not but it's showing that you think it's better if it would be moved.

The people who I spoke to too said that no one should worry about what percentage of good reports you have done too the majority of people are in the good bracket. I guess it could be a nice little feature to know where you have gone wrong so you can improve in the future, but there is no need that's the moderators job you don't have to be right every single time.
6672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you wish satoshi to be anonymous forever? vote on: June 01, 2014, 11:43:14 AM
I know people are obsessed with finding out who Satoshi is, but it's better if we never find out who he is. Because, none of us know his past history and what ever he has done in the past could bite us in the ass. If he was exposed there would be another obsession. People would try to find any dirt on him. Any competitors would try to find dirt on him. There would be thousands of rumors about Satoshi breaking the law or manipulating the market.

Sometimes it is better not to know.
6673  Other / Meta / Re: Accuracy down to 98% on: May 29, 2014, 09:37:51 AM
Here are some updated stats:

In all, there have been 27,689 good reports, 8129 bad reports, and 1067 unhandled reports.

I don't think there's many people like ckolivas. I should imagine he was leading by very far and I would expect a few people to be around the 800 reported posts. It's a eye opener really with those stats, I have contributed 529 reports to that figure. I wonder how much people report, looking at that figure It suggests that not a lot of people report. I should expect that most established members have reported successfully in the hundreds.

6675  Other / Meta / Re: Paid Signatures Increases Likelihood of Getting Banned on: May 16, 2014, 09:56:41 AM
It's a difficult task for the moderators to control spam. Because I might see someones post as useless posts and consider them spam, whilst others might find it useful or entertaining. For the moderators  to pinpoint when someone has crossed the line isn't always as straight forward as you would think. They have to take into consideration many factors.

At the moment, looking at the moderation policy and the information about the rules of the site we have received from moderators it seems as long as the post contains some information related to the subject beforehand and topics are posted in the correct sub-forum then they aren't technically breaking any rules.

Of course I'm talking about the less obvious spammers who try to disguise their spam with multiple sentences/paragraphs. What I have seen quite a few times is even if their posts are on topic and are 'constructive' they lack on thing. Originality. I've seen over and over people posting the same information/statement which has already been said previously in the same thread.

The only thing about ignore is that I find  it extremely annoying that I have a few ignores on the page when that person who I previously ignored might have said something useful/helpful. Therefore, I have no one on my ignore list. If you have any problems just contact a moderator and talk things over with them. I've had quite a few discussions with staff members about the rules of the forum and the ins and outs.
6676  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Exchange amazon uk gifts. > BTC on: May 15, 2014, 10:49:05 PM
If they are in pounds then they are only valid at the domain amazon.co.uk. You can't use them on amazon.com, amazon.de etc. Also, if you have a receipt you received when purchasing these would help verify that they came from a legitimate source.

I suggest using escrow when trading especially with high amounts.
6677  Economy / Lending / Re: Locked keys in car, between jobs, need 1 Btc fast, pay 10% interest. on: May 15, 2014, 08:46:10 PM
As to, I'll the sig thing, I have no Internet from home now so I'm barely even lurking these forums right now...

But. I've started my new job at winco foods, stocking shelves at night. By payday, The 30th, I'll be able to catch up on the missed payment, and make this month's as well.

Thank god for virwox taking debit cards. I can buy btc almost instantly, from my phone. (which is the only Internet I have right now.)

Great news that you will be able to catch up and pay this months too. I've tried my best to help you and gave you time whenever you needed it. Good luck with the job!
6678  Economy / Lending / Re: Locked keys in car, between jobs, need 1 Btc fast, pay 10% interest. on: May 15, 2014, 04:48:00 PM
I'll look into it. Thanks.

A little disappointed. I hope you'll take every opportunity that you have to meet the next deadline. I'm going to be needing you to meet those payments from now on.
6679  Other / Meta / Re: Neg rep. Trust abuse. on: May 15, 2014, 04:25:52 PM
I explained very well why I gave you the negative trust and you accepted my reasons. It may be allowed to sell accounts, however I see it as highly suspicious that anyone wants to buy/sell accounts.

It's a warning to other users. It's my opinion and whether or not others value my opinion or take my warning is another matter.

I've edited the trust so that it shows the amount it was purchased for. It seems I was right in submitting the trust in the first place as it seems you only purchased the account for trading coins and loans. Might I ask how can someone trust you if you are willing to purchase a account just to trade? Are you trying to deceive your customers in thinking that you have been here a long time? What was wrong with your original account? As long as you used escrow and provided a safe transaction with your customers any account would be fine.
6680  Other / Meta / Re: Removing legacy scammer tags on: May 11, 2014, 01:45:38 AM

The reason why is because it creates a perception problem (you seem to be affected).  Nobody gets a scammer tag anymore, ever, under any circumstances.   So not having a scammer tag doesn't mean someone isn't a scammer, it just means they scammed after the forum stopped giving those tags out.  Essentially they are obsolete yet by remaining they are confusing.

When someone sees scammer tags this may lead someone to believe (like yourself) that they are still being used and thus not having a scammer tag is a good sign when the reality is that someone not having a scammer tag alone means nothing.

Quote
Any reasons or would you just prefer to use the trust system which isn't moderate unlike the scammer tags.

This.  It isn't just prefer, they never moderate scammmer tags anymore.

I did think of the perception problem after I posted that and was going to edit it. I see that would be a problem. I guess I didn't consider that because I'm familiar with both of the systems. But, anyone who doesn't know both of the systems could think that not having a scammer tag means that they aren't a scammer.

Thanks for the explanation much appreciated.

Should be a automated negative feedback put onto the account, otherwise a previous scammer could get away with it, I know that's why we have been given 7 days to put the negative trust. But, unless I know about the scammer and the suspicious activities it's been up to I don't put any feedback.
