6721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people mine Crypto? on: May 22, 2018, 06:23:05 AM
It is very simple answer with clear economic sense. Most of people want to get profit. But some of them it is a profession and they get profit on permanent basis. For others it is funny game and they get profit if they are lucky only. But money in the center of most mining activity and I don't think that it is related to the principle of decentralization:)

Right, but it doesn't mean that you are mining that you will become crypto millionaires overnight. You need capital to begin with, lots of it, good environment and the profit is not that profitable in the beginning. Yeah, for most of them, its not just profession but obsession as well. Imagine mining certain coins and becoming a bag holder of it.

I still remember stories back in the days with bitcoin can be mine with CPU, a lot did have a headway and they mine hundreds if not thousands. Moving back 5-8 years, they are not crypto millionaires with still a lot of bitcoins in their hard wallet.
6722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Alts are being held back by BTC on: May 21, 2018, 03:38:37 PM
Etheruem is starting to have a mind of its own!
BTC is struggling!
Saying that BTC STILL has the potential to take this market to hell!
If HELL comes ( BTC sub 7K or worse) the market will rise without BTC dictating the tune.
Opinion only BUT a possibility!

You have to understand that as traders, there will be a continues shift of funds. So it bitcoin makes its run, altcoin suffer and vice versa. But as far as bitcoin getting below $7K, its possible, however, I don't think that we can go bottom again because its growing in the last couple of days.

The main thing here is how to react in such circumstance and take advantage of the situation. As I have said, its better to move your funds, go where the money is and don't stick on coins that lost its grip on the market.
6723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto faster & cheaper? on: May 21, 2018, 10:12:04 AM
Bitcoin fees are higher than any other coin. This is due to a lack of scalability and thus high mining fees, which also effects transaction speeds. Ethereum and LiteCoin have much lower fees and send much faster. XRP is cheaper and faster than that. IOTA is free but their wallet is not quite up to par yet. This market is still very young and growing. Eventually these issues will be worked out. But the great thing about competition is that you can choose which method you want to use. And if you’d rather stay in the fiat world you’re free to do that as well.

Right, there are a lot of coins out there that are better than bitcoin in terms of technology and much faster in terms of confirmations times and the fees are way less. But people still go and stick with bitcoin because of its value.

But it also makes sense to put your money to other altcoins as well like Ethereum because of its many advantages. Yes, competition is good but if we are going to think that bitcoin can be overtaken because of its many issues, I still doubt that. So its better to take advantage of both coins and get to see how it will fit our needs (investment, trading or even gambling.)
6724  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hitbtc death? on: May 20, 2018, 02:31:07 PM
It also went down last week but got recovered after some time.
At this point, it looks different and suspicious because they don't even have any update on their twitter. Error 502 persists even re-loading the page.

If they've exit scam, it's for sure that this will be another historical moment on the crypto world.

Tried to access I got the 502 error as well, although it looks like they are in the cloudfare? As far as I know I wasn't aware that they implemented cloudfare though.

I don't think they that will exit scam as there are a lot of coins being listed on them lately, just hope though that they are doing some maintenance upgrade. Hope for the best because I'm sure that it will impact the price in the negative way if they've exit scam already.
6725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is bear mode good to the market? on: May 20, 2018, 02:09:26 PM
We are still in the bear market I believe. But what I see and observe is that some traders are taking advantage of the market dip which makes them profitable also. I guess bear mode is important because the market needs to go through a cycle and bear cannot be avoided.

For bearish trend, more traders do day trading or shorting bitcoin or any other altcoins. Even just a simple 10% margin is already a good mark for traders to take profits. That's why when we have  thought that we are making a bull run at $10K for bitcoin, suddenly the market goes down slowly because traders chooses to take the profit.

On the other side, if you are going to be a long term holder, bear mode is the perfect time to enter because obviously the coins is at at a discount.
6726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Money on: May 20, 2018, 01:49:09 PM
that's very rare now...almost every token and coin these days always dumped when distribution ended and their project discontinued because their token or coin worthless or out of money

Yup, that's the mostly the practice of bounty hunters, once they got their token and it was listed on a exchange they immediately dump it to get their rewards, so its either in bitcoin or they will re-invest it to other coins as well. Causing that token to lose its value.

Although there might cases that the tokens really took off like Binance tokens because people pour more cash after the bounty distribution. So its really up to you whether to dump it right away or hold.
6727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO and BOunty will End? on: May 20, 2018, 01:05:53 PM
I haven't seen Bounty and ICO slowing down a bit, in fact more ICO are born like every day as you can see in the bounty thread and websites which provided ICO bench marks. So I doubt that it will end, and again, as long as people are willing to be investors then it will flourish and survived.

Although social media like Facebook, or Google or even Bing ban crypto ads, ICO are still going stronger as ever and not showing any signs of slowing down in the next 2-5 years. And there are also a lot of crypto friendly nations who are willing to embrace ICO projects. So don't be nervous because for sure we will see a lot of them coming in the future.
6728  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who are these so-called "whales' in the Cryptocurrency world? on: May 20, 2018, 12:41:17 PM
It can be banks, funds, billionaires, just people who saved thousands of their bitcoins bought several years ago.

This knowledge is absolutely useless, everyone knows that Karpeles stole thousands of coins from his stock exchange, but what has changed?
We know the names of people in Forbes, but we can not influence their decisions and actions.
Do not clog your head with this nonsense....

I am sure bank and fundsters are not the whales. I mean what made you think that they can invest into the bitcoin too as they are highly regulated piece of junk who are trying to restrict the bitcoin market in all the possible ways. Let's just keep it limited to those guys who are individually or in the company form hodling most of the bitcoin in their wallets. Just to clarify Mt. gox is something called as whales.

As far as I can remember Jamie Dimon CEO of JPMorgan Chase has a lot of bitcoin investments. To refresh your memory, he rode on the Chinese fake news last year, making the price "crashed", however they secretly buying tons of bitcoin in dip.

Most of us says that we uncover one of the biggest whales so far who is JPMorgan Chase so I wouldn't be surprised if they will continue to do so and manipulate it even further during this bearish trend.
6729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Media is negative about Bitcoin? on: May 20, 2018, 11:43:25 AM
Why Media is negative about Bitcoin?
Whenever a government announces to regulate bitcoin or cryptocurrency or whenever BTC price is in downfall, most of the media start to warn everyone not purchase or invest in Bitcoins.
Do you see that, dont you?

Its because Media always wanted to get the latest news and we all know that bitcoin and crypto are very popular that a single news about it will surely get a lot of clicks on their websites. So they write about it right away, and most of them are without any valid proof and are fake news.

Also take notice of the authors of the article, doesn't seems to be very incline about bitcoin or crypto currency. Even a jr rank has more knowledge than them, but still the auditor let them write because it makes them money.
6730  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance! Attention! Be cautious! on: May 19, 2018, 09:33:59 PM
How are they targeting just Binance users? Did their e-mail database get leaked, or has their mail server been compromised? If it is either of these, then that's a big problem for the exchange.

Could you please add a screenshot of the email so we can see the send address, I would like to see if they're spoofing the domain.

Pretty difficult to phish a tech savvy crowd, but no doubt they'll get somebody.

But there are still a lot of non-techies out there, you might got caught in this phishing attempt. However 0.5BTC reward? Lol, I guess many can still fall for this trap because of the supposedly huge reward being offered (around $4K-$5K). I think someone already posted link in Reddit to see the actual email being sent out, although the screenshot doesn't display the originator or the send address. Anyways, its good that this community can share warnings like this so that the chances of us getting phished is slim to none.
6731  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week in BTC & Tokens! on: May 18, 2018, 06:23:54 AM
Hey everyone! I'd like to thank you all for your patience over this past week. I am happy to announce on behalf of the IOST team that the campaign is being extended until the end of June.

In light of that, there are a few changes going forward that I'd like to go over.

First, payments will be adjusted every week to the USD denominated values of IOST and BTC listed in the original post. I'm sure this will come as a disappointment to some, but keep in mind that price volatility can swing both ways (as we have seen in crypto markets over the past week!).

Additionally, while the team is happy so many of you are eager to help spread the word about IOS, the campaign is being scaled back slightly for this next round. Unfortunately, this means that not everyone who is currently enrolled will continue as part of the campaign. I will announce the updated participant list this Saturday so people have a chance to see this post.

Finally, those of you who were part of the campaign and have since removed your information/applied for other campaigns, please indicate to me whether you would like to be considered for the upcoming round, either by posting here or PMing me.

As before, the campaign is still closed to new participants.

Thank you for the update Madz, I haven't remove my signature since the end of fourth week and I would like to be re considered for the upcoming rounds.
6732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Campaign on: May 09, 2018, 11:58:17 PM
Though I'm not new to Cryptos, never paid attention on any Bounty campaigns and how they work.  Wonder can someone point me to the right info on where to start and how they claim/get tokens?

How many tokens one typically gets through the campaign?
what parameters dictate good campaigner to bad one?

Campaign bounty is the best way to get tokens. The token earned depends on the allocation given by the project, the success or failure of the project, and the number of participants in the bounty. To determine a good campaign, you can read the whitepaper first to see the benefits of the project and see the experience of the developer team.

Whitepaper is a good place to start to see if the project is really good or just hype. But I don't think that bounty hunters are going that route. Personally, as soon as a bounty campaign open, bounty whores immediately jumps and join without checking what and the devs behind.

And they will just bitch out and saying that they have been scam because the project didn't pay them at the end. Well you can't blame anyone but yourself for not checking the whitepaper and check the legitimacy of the project.
6733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Australian Government having blockchain as part of the agenda on: May 09, 2018, 11:39:56 PM
This is what I expect to see from governments, I feel like moving to Australia now lol

https://www.ccn.com/australian-government-budget-injects-700000-for-blockchain-research/

I see blockchain as a good solution for government transparency and efficiency, unfortunately in countries like mine (Brazil) such investments won't be part of the agenda, I feel like I won't live to see that :/

Yes, Australia is the second country(behind Japan) as far as I know that legalizes bitcoin so it would make sense for them to embrace and keep the blood flowing specially research involving blockchain.

We all know that there are a lot of benefits using this technology. In fact almost big banks are already experimenting on blockchain specially helping them secure the data and improved their services because data can be accessible anytime and can't be tainted by anyone. Glad that Australia is really living up to expectations as of this moment.
6734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is officially dead on: May 09, 2018, 10:59:30 PM
no, it's not. why do you thing that ethereum is dead ? just because the price is going down ? well bitcoin price influence the all market and it's someting normal if bitcoin goes down most of the all will follow. I think you don't see the bigure picture when you think about Ethereum as for sure they are a big big project.

There one hurdle that Ethereum need to pass though, the SEC regulations. There are news that SEC are looking closely and scrutinizing it right now because of so many scams and they want to protect the investors, according to them.

However, I don't see it as having a negative effect because the price keeps increasing, it even went above $800 the previous week. So personally, I don't think the Ethereum will die just like Bitcoin because of the huge potentially of this project plus the money involved.
6735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is ICO period long? on: May 09, 2018, 10:42:11 PM
They think that if ICO period is long, more investment will be made. But they are wrong. If they cant make enough advertisements and they cant show people prospect of project, they cant collect enough investment.

That's why most of them just closes before the actual end of the ICO because they didn't raised the needed funds. While other ICO's just took off and in the first few weeks alone, had raised so much money that they were able to reach their soft and hard cap. Personally, a good 4-6 weeks exposure is already too long, if by that time you didn't have any support from investors then nothing can change if you proceed like 4-6 more. Eventually they will fail and others might pull a exit strategy and scam investors even if the money is just too small.
6736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: African Nation to Explore Blockchain Technology in Agriculture on: May 04, 2018, 06:36:15 AM
This is a good news. However, I don't know how blockchain can help a country like Ethiopia wherein Network Infrastructure is a problem. I mean how can they explore and take advantage if there are no internet to develop such project?

And besides, the news says its looking at utilizing in the agricultural sector. Again, I'm not sure if this will be a successful startup. I'm hoping for the best though.
6737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is ICO period long? on: May 04, 2018, 03:54:34 AM
This is a question I ask myself all the time that why do so many ICOs usually take so long period of time before they are  finally over. Some ICOs could go for long period of time as long as 6 months and 7 months thereabout. Does it mean the longer the period of ICO the better the rewards? Does that long period of time really mean I will have better profits either as a bounty hunter or an investor? I need some clarification and probably some  advise as a newbie to ICO bounty.

Its because most ICO has a target. Usually its called soft cap and hard cap. That's why sometimes it took so long for ICO so complete because they needed to reach at least the soft cap.

Yes, you are correct, I have seen ICO latest for 6 months. And I have seen bounty hunters rewarded handsomely because they stick to the campaign from beginning up to the last day. As a investors of course you can make a lot of profit but you need capital, as compare to bounty hunters, no capital needed, you just need to follow what the bounty managers sets in and you are good to go.
6738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To whom you dedicate your work on: May 03, 2018, 08:37:43 PM
~snip~

And now i am able to help my parents with their problem and build a little business which is backyard pigs from my bounties. Thank you for crypto whitout this im still nothing and cant give happiness to my parents.

Thank you for reading . Just dont give up just try and try until you succeed  but first you must believe on what you love to do.

I'm assuming that you are from the Philippines because of the backyard piggery business you have mentioned. Yes, this is really inspiring story and I do hope that you will continue to help your family from your crytpo earnings.

I would also suggest that you also save some for yourself, because we really don't know what is going to be in the future. Yes, we are all earning by joining bounties, but what's gonna happen to you if suddenly bounties started to dried up? So have a back up plan, save some for you and for your family. Goodluck to you.
6739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Prediction ETH up to $15,000 by this year on: May 03, 2018, 08:26:25 PM
What you guys think about it ?

I think ETH will up to $5000 only.

well if really hits this year which was predict by reddit..why not  .. all of us will happy. Grin

https://www.ccn.com/ethereum-price-will-reach-15000-this-year-reddit-co-founder/

Its gonna be a long way for ETH to even reach half of that price. I'm not saying that its not doable, but I doubt that it can even get to $2K at the end of the year. We all love hearing bullish sentiments from the reddit co founder, maybe he is a bigi investors on EtH or something. But common sense says that not this year. Maybe in a year or two, ETH will soar, but to be able to get to that mark, we need a lot of money to pour into ETH ecosystem, the question is where are all the money will come?
6740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RECOVER BITCOIN.COM DOMAIN NAME on: May 03, 2018, 08:02:50 PM
As much as we wanted to recover bitcoin.com from Roger Ver our hands are really tied. Only thing I can think of right now is to:

1. Offer him money to relinquished the domain
2. File a lawsuit

However, since he has a lot of money, I don't think that we even have a chance against (1) and the second option might be drag for years and might involved money which we don't have it right now. I mean who will cover the cost for the bitcoin community? I know he's using the domain to promote Bitcoin Cash as the real Bitcoin that Satoshi envisioned, and that is completely wrong. But what can do we is to educate newbies around and inform them who the man behind that domain and what is his real intentions are.
