6741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Antiviruses on: September 06, 2019, 09:50:43 AM
@cryptojor

anti-virus is a pointless waste of space, just delete the av program

in the days when updating your system over the internet was unheard of, computer viruses sometimes did spread. in practice, they were still rare.

now, there are no malware threats that cannot be mitigated by simply choosing a secure operating system, and keeping it up to date. I've been doing exactly that for 10 years, any virus worth a damn would have stolen some of my BTC, and that hasn't happened.

I disagree.

Several user already have been warned from electrum phishing sites (or even from the malware they downloaded from that site) by their AV.
They would have lost their coins without an AV.

While AV's only recognize already known or blatantly stupid malware, every average windows- or mac user should have one installed.

And neither mac or linux are safe from malware. There is malware for these operating systems, less than 2-3%, but still it exists.
A secure operating system doesn't protect you against 1) malware being executed by non-techy people or 2) other kinds of targeted attacks (which are very costly and complex).

Changing the OS doesn't protect an absolute non-techy person at all, IMO.
Good OS in combination with common sense and some technical knowledge does.

I think it it safe to assume that you are not a clicky-pointy type of person who is running a colorful windows installation. You don't need an AV. That's fine, me neither.
But i would never suggest other people reading this (especially those running windows being not techy at all) to live without an AV. It offers at least some level of security.

Is he preaching or recommending not to use anti-virus, if that's the case people should never listen to this guy, even if he is a legendary guy, it doesn't prove that this guy is a techie guy, our computer is our bank and since this is our bank we must employ the best security you can find to prevent intrusion.

If he is ok without using an anti-virus then it's up to him but don't tell that antivirus is a waste of money and space, this is deception.
6742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Still "Finding Satoshi" then ... on: September 06, 2019, 09:06:40 AM
There is a time chart about Bitcoin death and that is Bitcoin Obituary and they keep updated it whenever Bitcoin is going down, I think it's time to have a site dedicated to Nakamoto wannabees, this story is almost endless, every year we always have new guy claiming to be Nakamoto.

Every one of them has an alibi on why they can move their Bitcoin from the address they own, ten years from now the mystery on who Nakamoto is wil not be resolve just like who created the Pyramid.
6743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New altcoin Cryptocurrency ThanosX on: September 06, 2019, 08:52:37 AM
There’s a new altcoin that just launched it’s ICO called ThanosX (TNX). It’s currently selling for $1 (DAI) Only 15,000,000 TNX have been created. The estimated value is around $25 once listed on exchanges. This will be huge. They are developing a product called the Gauntlet Protocol which stops any scammer, phisher and spammers from contacting you. The software also blocks any virus. You can check out their website http://thanosx.net

I remember 2016 and 2017 where a lot of new coins are created using their favorite singer,  actor, and superheroes, of course, they ended up as a scam project, they just used a copyrighted icon to scam people.

This is now 2019 a lot of things have happened, they all know that these kinds of projects will just turn into a scam because they are using a copyright icon and people will never believe in a project that tells people that their coin will be traded on this price when everything is subjected to demand.
6744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is whitepaper important in the project? on: September 05, 2019, 04:44:56 PM
Is it important to research the whitepaper in the project? then is there a right way to find out if their whitepapper is real, not fake? What do you think?

Serious investors look at the whitepaper of any coin that they want to invest because everything is on whitepaper and developers should make sure that everything that serious investors want to know are all here, this is where investors will see if the concept is unique and not just a copy of an old project or just a recycle of failed projects in the past.

The best way to check if the whitepaper is unique and not just a copy-paste is to download it, the majority of the whitepaper is on PDF, Google for the best plagiarism checker and upload it there, if it is copy-paste it will show up.
6745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you heard of DTube? on: September 05, 2019, 04:19:44 PM
I actually want to try the same thing like that, but because of the time that may be quite a bit to fulfill how our performance to reap the results by playing my friend's video in a way to earn this $$$.

Did you know you can upload video on DTube from platform in just one click?

The DTube team

I don't think this will have a success like all the other video monetization sharing sites in the internet, they have a very bad implementation I have a steem account and automatically registered here using my Steem keys information.

One of the problems of video uploader and I think everyone who wants yo upload their videos here is your video will stop playing and stop from being monetized if you did not reach enough upvotes,

I am thinking of uploading some videos but do diligent research first and I find this well-written reviews about DTUBE

6746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Real Airdrops on: September 05, 2019, 03:33:07 PM
Hello folks here!

Hope all are here fine!

Have anyone good real and safe airdrops?

p.s. what about Felixo?

After been to almost a hundred airdrops I can confidently say there is no real and profitable airdrops, developers of this airdrops will use you to promote their airdrops then promise to give hundreds worth of value when in fact it's just a make-believe price.

Participants will have to vote for them to get in the exchange after getting listed in exchange they dump their millions, you only have hundred worth of their token while they they dump their millions, they are just using you with their empty promise, these newbies should wake up and see the reality of these airdrops.
6747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto hodling as a form of gambling! on: September 05, 2019, 02:05:25 PM
Ever since I've got into cryptocurrency, I've had several experiences on the  prices on some of my holdings achieved ATH's in a matter of months alone especially on the 2017 bull market and was thankful I didn't sold out early when I got them. Having had a positive feeling about it, I became reluctant to sell some of these cryptos even at the height of its price thinking that I may gain more from them in the future and also believing that this projects have very good fundamentals and does have a room for growth!

Then at the beginning on the 1st quarter of 2018 (which started the period for bearish market), crypto prices nosedived sharply and in a matter of weeks my portfolio begun to shrunk and was reduced significantly but then again I was overpowered by my belief that crypto will have an eventual rebound in which I was wrong! Over a period of short time, I was forced to sell those cryptocurrencies at a significantly lower price and accepted my loss which led me to believe that hodling is indeed a form of gambling and thus has a risk / reward factors associated with it.

Until now, I don't have any regrets but only have lessons learned from this experiences and will remain having a positive outlook on cryptosphere because I know gambling will let us "win some and also lose some".  Smiley

I know some of you had already been on the same kind of experience just like me. Smiley

Not only hodling but investing in Cryptocurrency is a form of gambling, this is the reason why you should only invest what you can afford to lose, I also experience that not selling some of my coins in their all-time high, I have a lot of opportunities to sell some of my coins and make huge profit, one of these coins is Kucoin it reaches $15, and was hoping that it will reach $50.
Unfortunately, it drops I was on vacation and only find out that it drops significantly after coming from vacation, it's really important to sell some at the right time.
6748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do you identify a transparent project team? on: September 05, 2019, 11:58:40 AM
If the project is a scam, it would be really silly of its team to show their true identities. In most cases, they just find some pics online and use them as the images of their “Chief Financial Officers” or “advisors,” as was seen  in Empire Card who used a picture of French actress Sabine de Poncins, little known outside of France, as the portrait of their proud imaginary CEO Patricia Harrison. There have even been reports of Ryan Gosling “working” for a project as a designer under a completely different name.
Some scammers are, however, way more intricate. They know it’s quite easy to reveal a fake pic so they just hire people to pose as their CEOs, CFOs, and so forth. Rumor has it that certain scammers even pay homeless people to pretend they’re leading a disruptive startup to a bright and radiant future. This fraud is much harder to call out, but at least those guys help homeless people in some way, so here’s your silver lining.

I encounter one developer using people on Fiverr and Facebook to be his CEO and part of the team because they know that if they are going to get picture from the internet they will easily get caught, that is why it's very important if you are looking for the team composition that they can do group photo or questions and answer via webinar so people will know if they are really part of the team.

Team composition is very important, if you are going to invest in one project, it's important that the developers can communicate, or even important to attend one of their events.

6749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Facebook trying to profit from Cryptos ? on: September 05, 2019, 05:21:13 AM
I've checked those applications that give altcoins for tipping in the Facebook platform and this is what showing on both pages

The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.

The thread creator is in error in accusing Facebook, when it was created by an independent coder, we all know that you can create an application on Facebook because they have a developer console, that doesn't mean that all applications coming from Facebook are created and owned by Facebook.

They have an option to delete it, so it's not the Facebook that is going to make a profit or do not want Bitcoin on their platform it's the independent creator that does it.
6750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reality Check: Out with the OLD on: September 05, 2019, 01:37:17 AM
Its been a while i posted on the forum but i just felt the need to share my opinion pertaining to the state of the crypto space at the moment..
I used to be one of the few who always had strong faith in altcoins(maybe its as a result of the fact i entered the crypto space as at the last bull run Wink) but lately i have come to realize that the crypto space has changed remarkably..A lot of hype chasers have left with the dump and a combination of technical soundness and logicality is now being used by crypto enthusiasts.
A brief road down crypto market history has given me a reality check pertaining to the success of most altcoins. Infact Bitcoins dominance in the crypto space speaks huge volume that interest is leaving must notable altcoins. A dive down memory lane has also shown btc, ETH and LTC to be the only constant variables on CMC top 10 for the past 4 years. This shows that with every bear run a new top 10 often emerge.
Crypto enthusiast and new comers in the space are getting disinterested with altcoins and  the believe in a bull run for alt coins is dieing..An investment i made into the space has proven April values of most top ten coins to be their most likely All time high (ATH)for the year and Its even alot worse for coins outside the top10.

Lately coins launched via IEO most expecially on binance are attracting the most attention and in my opinion i wont be shocked some of this new coins will likely do well and maybe replace most coins on the Top Ten.
Whats your take on this?Do u see a bull run for altcoins? What your trading/ investment advice for others?

You painted the true picture of altcoins, it is indeed dying the big prove is the market chart where we can see altcoins below the ten rank can only share 13.3 of the market shares, altcoins that has no unique concept and usability in the crypto world will be gone in a matter of time.

ICO investors are getting fewer and fewer and that's expected because of the so many scamming happened in the past, and they are moving to a more trustworthy platform IEO, which is really a very good alternative.
6751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think IEO is more legit if launch on big exchnages like Binance? on: September 04, 2019, 05:04:09 PM
I think it is a bit more legit if an IEO is launch on bigger exchanges. Because they know that it can be very hard to enter big exchanges and convince them that your project is very useful and insight of having a very solid future to get funds using them. What's you opinion on this? Do you think there are other reasons if they choose other small exchange platforms?

They already have a mileage compare to other projects who does independent crowdfunding like ICO, because Binance has strict compliance and of course Binance do not want to lose the trust of their investors and traders if they are going to accept a low quality project.

But after the crowdfunding or launching it's out of the exchange's control you also need to do your research and always follow the development of the project, this is not 2016 or 2017, where you can just buy a coin and forget it and wait for it to get their best price.
6752  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Roger Ver: Starting His Own Crypto Exchange? on: September 04, 2019, 04:38:37 PM
It states: "Will Ver’s Exchange Help to Reduce Dependence on Bitcoin (BTC)? For now, Ver has only mentioned the idea of launching his own cryptocurrency exchange briefly."

Report: https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/10/09/roger-ver-hints-at-launching-a-bitcoin-cash-centric-exchange/

It is probably too late for Ver to join the crypto exchange market after the rise of Binance and several others. If the report is true Ver will use Bitcoin Cash as the base currency but why bother, Bitcoin was always going to win the battle against Bitcoin Cash.

UPDATE: 31st August 2019

Here is what the bitcoin.com website shows: "The Bitcoin exchange you can trust"

I do not hold or even support Bitcoin cash, this coin is also profitable but I am supporting the community's cause of not supporting Bitcoin Cash and Roger Ver because of trying to manipulated and deceiving the community.

And I believe his exchange is not going to be competitive because Binance and other top exchange are going great and they might boycott his opwn version of Bitcoin.
6753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Sport Has Many Gambling Supporters (State Your Opinion) on: September 04, 2019, 02:01:00 PM
I expect soccer to be the top choice, considering the many countries where soccer is the number one sports, soccer is not popular here in our country, only boxing, and basketball, and we do have an ending game here for basketball.

There are a lot of gambling sites that have included soccer in their betting features and in fact, there are gambling sites dedicated for soccer betting alone, so there's no wonder why it is number one.
6754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Brandt: 99% of Altcoins Will Be Forgotten in Five Years on: September 04, 2019, 01:19:32 PM
Good analysis backed by fact and data it's possible because we have seen the top 5 coins in the market 2013 gone now, but looking at the comparison, I don't see the top coins right now going out of business, we are in a massive adoption the market cap is getting bigger and if you are on the top of your game I don't believe you will give up developing your project/platform.
6755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price struggling on: September 04, 2019, 12:29:10 PM
it's been a steady price for Ethereum since the begining of this month, still moving within 200 - 240$ Usd , do you think this is a bad sign for ETH?

I don't see any struggle, they are very steady on where they are right now, people should not only look for the current price or the price in a one month span, they should study its contribution and it's long term profitability and status, I don't see any thread to its position.

Bitcoin gap is very huge,  Ethereum gap over the third coin in the market is still good at 5.40.
6756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Altcoins ever come back again on: September 04, 2019, 11:15:38 AM
Looking at the market dominance, bitcoin covers almost 70.5% of the market trade as of time of writing. there is the need for altcoin recovery or it might spell doom for investors. i.e, people invest today on a new project and sell off tomorrow.
According to a wall street executive, Max keiser, he strongly believed that altcoins has reached there dead end and advised that everyone should focus on bitcoin. considering the fact that bitcoin is limited. there is the need for altcoins as the name implies, Alternative coins.

What is your say on this.

That's the truth and that's what's really happens, investors are tired on investing on new coins, and they just focus on the top coins in the market, last year and this year alone, there are very few projects that prove to be profitable for investors.

Investors cannot go on investing in dubious projects, they will have n choice but to leave ICO and just focus on Bitcoin and the top coins in the market.
6757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin get banned worldwide? on: September 04, 2019, 03:15:14 AM
Bitcoin, the crypto currency, has become huge in popularity over the recent years.

One of the main features i like about bitcoins is its transactions are anonymous. But that makes me wonder if a time will come when it will be banned worlwide. It has started in many countries.

How many countries are banning Bitcoin? I don't see the figure as alarming check out this map and you can see that it's not alarming at all
https://cryptonews.com/guides/countries-in-which-bitcoin-is-banned-or-legal.htm in fact the adoption is moving faster than countries banning Bitcoin.

And these countries that are banning Bitcoin will have a change of mind in the future, Bitcoin is something that we cannot ignore, you can ban facilities that use Bitcoin but not, it's people who adopt it, they will always find a way.
6758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Spence Jr vs Porter on: September 03, 2019, 05:45:14 PM
In their one on one interview, Spence accused Porter of being a dirty fighter and that's in his face and in return Porter promises he will cut Spence face, this is going to be excited I thought these two fighters are good friends, it turn out they don't like each other at all

Here's the video of that one on one interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP3IEc3pHIo

But I'm picking Spence over Porter he is good with his job and moves and he has success against a little guy, one example is Spence's last fight against Mikey Garcia.
6759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Bitcoin's Increasing Market Dominance on: September 03, 2019, 05:23:15 PM
As per Coinmarketcap's data - https://coinmarketcap.com , Bitcoin is steadily gaining market dominance and I want to know what will be its implications or possible repercussions on the crypto-industry? Any ideas?
It could only mean that people are very much into Bitcoin than new altcoins in the market. And the majority of investors in the market preferred to invest in the top coins in the market, with Bitcoin as the number one coin they preferred to keep in their portfolio.

In the last two years, there are not many new coins in the market that has usability in the community, the majority of them are just copy of the existing project or concept, one example is these new exchanges based coin that just comes out of ICO.

6760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Martingale strategy increase your chance of winning? on: September 03, 2019, 05:12:39 PM
Martingale is very attractive to use because you will always have a chance to regain your losses, but you will eventually lose, the only circumstances that you are going to win in Martingale are when you have unlimited funds to chase your losses.

I would not recommend martingale to newbies or those with limited funds it's a sure way to lose all your funds.
