Hey, it looks like the voting resets after a certain period of time.  I have been able to vote again from both my computer and my iPad.  You all should go back to the site and see if you are back up to 10 votes.  Then throw another 3 at bitcoin.  Smiley

You only need to clear cookies and cache from your browser between votes  Wink You don't even need to change the IP.
How do you think all those votes got there? Magic?  Roll Eyes

Yes. I thought it was a bitcoin Christmas Miracle. You're saying it's not?   Cheesy

Ofcourse it wasn't a Christmas Miracle! It was The Easter Bunny!  Cheesy

Anyone have any pricing suggestions? What should I charge advertisers? What should I pay... uh... shorteners?

Prices charged to advertisers in adf.ly.
Please note that these values change daily in their website but it should give you a general idea of the price.
If you want i can get you also the Leaderboard prices and the value they pay to publishers.
Probably will be better to send it to you in a PM or else it will be a big wall of text!
Or maybe you can just go to their website and see for yourself. Not sure if those pages need login or not.

Seriously,
  • Would you honestly want your son to see the way you treat other people?

Yes, he should know how to treat guys like you from the start!

Now, get over it!

btw, don't you know what an EDIT button is? Stop double posting!
You should give more attention to detail yourself, because when you are writing a reply you have a list with all previous replies and a link to insert a quote in your reply, no need for double posts!
6767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LOL? on: May 09, 2011, 06:39:38 AM
So, using your reasoning...

Perhaps I missed your answer:
Are you above 14 years old psy, and do you have a decent grasp on the English language?

re: ad.fly
Here is an example of someone who shares my opinion:
Quote
Is this a plugin to make money or make sure none of your users ever come back to your forum?  I'm confused... oO;
~Source

LOL?   Tongue

No, my son is older than 14, which means probably older than you...  Shocked

You should spend less time in forums because you really seem to think the internet is just forums...

And i really like how you ignored everything i said and went to the insult part that i was trying to ignore.
That really shows who the child is! YOU!

PS: It's sad that you have to go to other forums to find someone who "shares your opinion"... The only problem is that you don't seem to have one, you just steal the opinions from others!
6768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: adf.ly of Bitcoin on: May 09, 2011, 06:23:46 AM
well, the 'abuse' in Bit_Happy's example is,
that they do it without telling the end-user about it (where end-user is the person posting the link, not the one clicking it, if i got that right).

it's not actually an abuse of the ad-services, which provide those scripts for ethical use.

Exactly! If something they are abusing the end-users, not the ad-service.
6769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: adf.ly is so annoying! on: May 09, 2011, 06:12:21 AM
it's those forum-admins/-operators who act unethical, not the ad-services they abuse.

How are they abusing the service if it's the service who provides the script to turn all external links into ad-links?
I would say they are just using a feature of the service, not abusing it!
6770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: adf.ly of Bitcoin on: May 09, 2011, 05:58:44 AM
Highly unethical?

Highly!

LOL

psy, Let's get on the same page, so we can reach an understanding:

...
So you are one of those guys that clicks links without checking where it takes you by just hovering the pointer over it before clicking...
I wouldn't login to my bank account in your computer that's for sure!

Adf.ly links (when used without the end-users* knowledge) are something highly unethical, which is called link-hijacking

*end-user (in this context) = Person posting the link, not the person clicking.

Here is my point, quite simply:
  • Some admins use it on forums and the "hi-jacked" links are added without the end-user (who posted the link) being aware his/her link is being altered.

If you do not understand the above is wrong (highly unethical), then there is nothing I can do to help you, at this time.

So, what you are saying is that in a site that isn't user generated content it's perfectly fine to use adf.ly?  Roll Eyes
You surely know that the internet is composed by several types of web properties being user generated content sites just one of those types, don't you?  Shocked

So, using your reasoning we should also put an end to bitcoin because people use it to sell highly unethical stuff?
6771  Other / Meta / Re: Haters Are Gonna Hate... I Guess on: May 09, 2011, 05:24:14 AM
It would seem someone just went on a -1'ing spree. With only 8 posts and I already have one? Come on! If I'm going to be smitten, I want to at least feel I deserved it.  Grin
I got one too. Don't know why. Is somebody angry at me?  Huh

6772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: adf.ly is so annoying! on: May 09, 2011, 04:41:14 AM
    ...
Thanks for calling me a not decent person... Now, GTFO!

I have every right to post my opinion, and I did it in an acceptable manner, did you?

    OK, one acceptable answer...

So people can make money by selling drugs and human organs with bitcoin, but internet marketers can't show ads and be paid in bitcoin, is that it?

If adf.ly and all the ads are so nasty to you just use adblock and join the crowd who thinks servers and domains pay for themselves with no ads on websites.

BTW, be very careful: I spread around 100k adf.ly links every day. Don't make me earn money by clicking one of them, kthxbye?

    EDIT:
    • Some admins use it on forums and the "hi-jacked" links are added without the end-user being aware his/her link is being altered.
    ^^^

So you are one of those guys that clicks links without checking where it takes you by just hovering the pointer over it before clicking...
I wouldn't login to my bank account in your computer that's for sure!
    6773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: adf.ly is so annoying! on: May 09, 2011, 04:31:36 AM
    IMO:
If you are a "cold, heartless, selfish money-grabber" (which you do have every right to be) who does not care about people, then go ahead and introduce this horrible plan into the Bitcoin community.

    If you understand this fact:
    Quote
warning about clicking on adf.ly links. that site is used to shorten links BUT also makes money for the person who provided the link by forcing you to view an ad before seeing actual content. this person is wasting your time and using you to make money.
    ~Source
Then please consider not doing the project, thank you.

    Edit:
    re: adf.ly users
If you want to pollute your own blog/website with adf.ly that is your choice to make.
    • Some admins use it on forums and the "hi-jacked" links are added without the end-user being aware his/her link is being altered.
    ^^^
I have serious issues with people who do that, as should most "decent people", IMO.

Thanks for calling me a not decent person... Now, GTFO!
6774  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: if deepbit.net gets anymore hashing speed it could compromise the system on: May 08, 2011, 01:47:29 PM
Btw I wasn't trying to imply anything bad about deepbit.net. I realize it's not in their interest to start performing fraudulent and harmful actions if they want to keep their customers. I just wanted to point out the facts and hear peoples opinions.

Probably because of what you say i have transactions sent paying fees with 0 confirmations for 24hrs...

Where are my coins? They disappeared from my wallet and never arrived to where i sent them, so WHERE ARE THEY?
6775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vote to get bitcoin on Fox's Freedom Watch! on: May 08, 2011, 12:30:05 AM
Edit:  Yesterday I did some informal measuring and we were getting somewhere on the order of 5 - 10 votes per minute.  At that rate another day or two and we'll be first place.

It slowed down to 1-2 votes per minute now Wink
    6776  Other / Meta / Re: Ratings on: May 08, 2011, 12:28:26 AM

6777  Other / Meta / Re: Improving the Bitcoin Forum on: May 08, 2011, 12:23:39 AM

...But the forum IS the epic-center of the bitcoin economy...

And that's the major problem bitcoin has now. Only a couple websites that are the market...

BTW, it's epicenter, not epic-center Cheesy
    6778  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin.org using a self-signed SSL certificate... on: May 08, 2011, 12:18:27 AM
Unfortunately, it must be contact@anonymousspeech.com, the email registered in 'whois' for bitcoin.org.

Startcom also lets you use postmaster@domain.org.

And controlling the server you can control where those emails get delivered Wink
6779  Other / Meta / Re: Thank God, You Can Now Applaud People! on: May 08, 2011, 12:16:07 AM
By any chance, do you know of an open-source system like that?

Not really. I have one phpbb forum and getting a simple MOD for a thanks button to work properly was a challenge Cheesy
6780  Other / Meta / Re: Thank God, You Can Now Applaud People! on: May 08, 2011, 12:03:52 AM
Here is an idea I had that I posted in another thread:

I have an idea about these rating systems.  How about instead of applying the ratings equally to everyone, the ratings are instead weight-adjusted to reflect your own ratings?  Kind of like how netflix tries to give you movie recommendations based off of your ratings.

The goal is that if you and I similarly rate people, then your ratings will have more weight from my point of view.  And the more we rate the same people differently, the less weight your ratings will affect how I perceive people.  In this way, goofy raters will not impact serious raters.  Similar raters' perceptions will be most affected by each other.

    Whaddya think?

    Edit:

Call it a "social network reputation system"

That's not a new thing. vbulleetin reputation system works just like you described.
