681  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is "tipping" worth? on: January 27, 2017, 07:56:35 PM
Isn't tipping what RDD and dogecoin are mainly used for?
Frankly, it doesn't matter. Money is money. Would it be better if you received 440 Doge tip instead of its equivalent - which is 0.0001 BTC?
The only problem might be transaction fee of BTC, but this is not a problem when sending money through some online wallets.
Plus BTC can be used more freely, if you receive Doge you will have to convert it to fiat or BTC to use it.
682  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is up with Coinroyale? on: January 27, 2017, 07:24:34 PM
I can confirm this ^. Their SSL certificate is now working as intended. Op, it seems that you hit the time when the site was renewing its secure protocol.
And I was able to login without problems, no warnings whatsoever. You might want to check CoinRoyale's site now.
683  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to know about next pump? on: January 27, 2017, 07:11:28 PM
I just want to add important info. Leverage trading in China was the main reason we have big pumps and ever bigger dumps after.
This might thing of the past, as PBOC curbed Bitcoin exchanges and limited their margin trading significantly.
There is no longer possible to trade with huge fake volume and borrowed money. Also panic selling will be less of a problem now.
684  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-25]Bitcoin trading in yuan drops as new transaction fees by exchanges on: January 27, 2017, 07:06:09 PM
Not good  Sad
What? It is exactly the oposite. It is the best news we can have. Enough of this fake margin trading with borrowed money.
It was not speculating anymore, what Chinese leverage traders used to do was pure gambling.
Now we can finally see that volume of their exachanges is not different from western markets!
I hope it will bring us era of slow price progression without occasional dramatic dumps caused by margin traders panic.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy a car with bitcoin on: January 27, 2017, 06:40:26 PM
Someone already posted about Tesla Car and after i googled it I see that internet is full of news about Tesla cars sold for bitcoin.
I am not 100% sure but it seems that Tesla Motors accepts direct bitcoin payments. Thought I can't find info about Bitcoin on their official site.

686  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the price of bitcoin will be in 2018 on: January 27, 2017, 06:10:07 PM
If the current blocksize war continues and Core stays with 1 MB blocks and without Segwit, we will have ... two Bitcoins in 2018!  Shocked

Bitcoin 1 (Core): $20-100
Bitcoin 2 (Unlimited, XT, btcfork or whatever): $20-200

That is pretty bearish, I know, although all bitcoin holders will have tokens in both chains. That's why I urge both parties to find a solution "in the middle" (let's say, 4 MB blocks for now, and an upgrade mechanism, and Segwit). In this case, I think the price can easily go over the old all-time-high to the $2000 region. But at this moment I consider it very unprobable.

It's impossible to have two Bitcoins running at the same time. XT, Unlimited and all other formed sides are nothing more than altcoins. We just need to be patience when it comes to the activation of segwit. I know it might take a while, but at some point something needs to be done in order to push Bitcoin to the next level. Everyone can see that this can't be stretched for another year. It's just sad to see that the ego's of certain high level Bitcoiners seem to have more importance than Bitcoin itself.
SegWit in its current form won't happen, miners won't push it. Even Bitcoin Unlimted has higher hash support now.
Current support level for SegWit is less than 17%. It is impossible to reach consensus of 95% - and definitely not before deadline which is in December 2017.
687  Economy / Economics / Re: US Debt at $19,959,943,400,000 will $20 trillion make the news? on: January 27, 2017, 05:56:32 PM
Trump already made some crucial moves to strengthen the US economy. He wants to depreciate the dollar and also reduce the dependency on exports for products and services that can be produced and rendered locally. We might see some drastic and controversial changes during his 4 years.

In his mind, the US subsidized and supported other countries and neglected their own country. He might create more jobs this way, and this might reduce debt. That is to say, if the consumers use this extra income to pay the debt, and not to spend more on fast food and cheap consumer goods.

It's not as easy as it seems. Sometimes you want to do something with good intentions and you end up delivering a big mess. Trump thinks reducing chinese impact on the economy is nothing but positives, but in a global market is not as easy.

Unfortunately in this system shitty mass produced crap like what the chinese does... sells very well and its hard to compete. I dont see how he can compete with US produced goods unless he start cutting US workers wages.
Globalization made Chinese a manufacturing powerhouse they are today. USA is to blame here, they wanted to to have the cheapest possible products and as result their economy is suffering today and debt is skyrocketing.
Trump is totally right, America needs to restore their local factories, businesses and industry first. Then try to halt debt progression, and maybe they will manage to slowly regress it then.
688  Economy / Economics / Re: On what way would you know that your investing on the right business? on: January 27, 2017, 05:42:14 PM
There is no sure way to determine if the business you want to support will bloom, but there are couple factors you have to consider.

1. The product or service you are investing in should be needed.

2. You have additional resources in case you will need to help the business succeed.

3. The timing of is right also the best idea is to aim for the niche of the market.

4. You know that the business is good, simply because it can provide the product or service at the right price.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safety measures in case of huge profit on: January 26, 2017, 09:17:17 PM
Some more good answers. Thanks.
In case I buy a hardware wallet, what happens if i Lose it or it gets broken?
If your hardware wallet is used as a cold wallet (meaning your private keys are stored offline within wallet and you deleted all the online files and copies).
Then as far as I am aware, if wallet gets destroyed or you lose it permanently, then your coins are lost with it.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Books about BitCoin on: January 26, 2017, 09:06:21 PM
I recommend you these books by one of the best talking heads we have in bitcoin community - mr. Andreas M. Antonopoulos:

- Mastering Bitcoin, "an in-depth technical guide to how bitcoin works, for developers and techies".

and if you are not into technicalities behind the coin that much, but instead want to know more about Bitcoin in general, this book is better:

- The Internet of Money, "a collection of talks about why bitcoin matters, for everyone".

691  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to survive in dictatorship? on: January 26, 2017, 08:59:38 PM
People automatically assume that dictatorship is something awful and bad by design. It is not always the case. We had examples of a GREAT leaders with authoritarian background.

It is true that some people in power are crooked and depraved, hence the system they create will be corrupted as well. But what if we had man with a mission in mind leading us?

Prime example of extraordinary dictator was Salazar, dictator of Portugal:

Quote
Portugal got ruled by a dictator for 36 years. During that time:

- the country paid in full the debts from WW1
- avoided entering into WW2
- stopped Spain from joining WW2 Axis and controlling west Europe
- the country accumulated gold in comparable scale to Switzerland
- co-founded NATO to stop communist advance in Europe.

692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Safe to say Bitcoin "probably" won't go lower than $600-$700 on: January 26, 2017, 08:54:38 PM
Guys, price of bitcoin should be more stable now. Chinese exchanges limited their leverage trading option which was known for being main reason behind current bitcoin's price volatility.
Margin traders were dragging price down as they usually tend to panic and sell to limit their loses. We may enter era of small steps and continuous rise.
693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dead cat bounce, dreams shattered again. on: January 26, 2017, 06:52:15 PM
with the new forum feature in profiles the "started topics" is no longer a secret link like before, anybody can now click on it from kwukduck's profile and have a good laugh about it.

my favorite topics are those from last year and him saying price goes down to $200 every other week Cheesy
It is no secret that he is ultimate pessimistic individual bitcoinwise. I am wondering whether he is feels some kind of pleasure by neg talking bitcoin.
Or maybe he is secretly big whale or a trader who uses this FUD to lower price of BTC and then buy it cheaper?
Anyway, nothing he said so far turned out to be true, so we should be safe this time around.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Wallet Software? on: January 26, 2017, 06:47:03 PM
As other said alredy Op, there is not such thing as the best bitcoin wallet. Bitcoin wallets mainly fall into 3 cathegories: full validation wallets: Bitcoin Core, Armory.
Light Validation Wallets: Electrum, Multibit and online wallets services: Coinbase, Blockchain.info, Xapo.

Online wallets are less secure as in most cases you are not sole owner of your bitcoins and in case of online service outage your coins might be lost.
Full validation wallets require you to download and verify whole bitcoin blockchain - which is 108 GB ATM they are also serving as a node.
SPV wallets are light wallets working in conjunction with online server to get blockchain data. They are regarded as safe as no one but has access to your private keys.

IMO there is no need for you to use full wallet unless you want to help bitcoin network by running a node. SPV wallet will be easier to maintain.
695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safety measures in case of huge profit on: January 26, 2017, 06:39:35 PM
Keeping your bitcoins safe is actually not the biggest problem here. The problem might be cashing out your 30 BTC and exchange it to fiat.
It is unwise to do it in one go, as large sum of money will most likely wake up your local tax office and then you will have to visit them and explain what is going on.
So if you can divide your sell orders as much as you can.
696  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-24]In the Battle Between Google, Facebook, and Amazon Against Banks: Bi on: January 26, 2017, 06:35:28 PM
The best example of this is the People's Bank of China(PBOC). They were desperate to stop bitcoin from taking over their place. They are trying to regulate bitcoin which cause panic to people. They spreading FUDs from people. Bitcoin is a real threat to banks. But i dont think bitcoin can replace banks.
It is not exactly the whole truth about PBOC intervention. Sure they are seeing Bitcoin as their competitor, but so far they didn't  try to ban it openly.
I am not sure you know how "liberal" were Chinese bitcoin exchanges so far, their main source of income was high limit margin trading - and PBOC halted this behaviour.
So in theory new reduced margin trading should lead to lower price volatility.
697  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump knows about Aliens?? on: January 25, 2017, 09:53:13 PM
The say that every US President knows whether aliens exist or not.

you think trump will tell us as the first president if there are Aliens if there are really any??

Of course aliens exist.  It's arrogant to think we are the only intelligent life in the universe.

Have they visited earth?  Probably not.  If faster than light travel is not possible, then they never will.
Theoretically there are other forms of transportation that moving from point A to point B in Euclidean space.
How about cross dimension travels, bending time and space and using wormholes as gateways?
Just because for us the fastest known way of traveling is reaching speed of light proves nothing.
698  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Bitcoin start to price increase? on: January 25, 2017, 09:18:58 PM
Bitcoin's price is destined to rise because unlike other fiat currencies BTC is predictable and has limited in supply.
So with limited supply when bitcoin becomes more popular demand is rising and price is increasing as a result.

There are also couple more factors to consider:
- bitcoin is still a technological novelty, adoption is till in its early phase
- bitcoin is not based on debt
- bitcoin is not controlled by central authority, government or institution

With bitcoin we can avoid something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollar#/media/File:Zimbabwe_100000000000_Dollars_Bill_2008.jpg

Bitcoin price is not predictable although btc really is limited in number, so I honestly think bitcoin is not destined to rise but it just does, because there are more people believing in it or less people but they have a lot of faith. So, yes, like you say, it is happening because of popularity and other factors are rather causes of this popularity, IMO. And yes, inflation is definitely avoided by the limitation.
I never said that bitcoin's price is predictable. It isn't. What I mean by that term is bitcoin creation predictability.
You know exactly number of bitcoins created now and we will know how many BTC will be created in 5 or 20 years in the future.
That is bitcoin probability. This feature differs BTC from fiats where quantitative easing is used freely and we have no idea how many banknotes were created.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SHA256 - Fire Rooster Coin - 2017 Year of the Rooster on: January 25, 2017, 09:03:03 PM
Safe from existing malware and viruses, but it might be proven to have backdoor in it. If you won't check the code of the wallet thoroughly you can never be sure.

Anyway, 17% premine used as faucet rewards and giveaways is a bit too much for me. But it is good that Op actually shared premine status with us.
700  Economy / Exchanges / Re: where is huobi? on: January 25, 2017, 08:43:26 PM
i cannot find any info about huobi. does anyone know what is going on?
https://www.huobi.com/
Change the site to English in the top right and there you go. What's the matter???

That's indeed the best solution. It seems that something is wrong with Huobi's API as there isn't a single charts site that is displaying their information. If you look at Bitcoinwisdom, they have even replaced Huobi's ticker with OKCoin's ticker. But that doesn't change much since these exchanges tend to move identically. I only think it's weird that Huobi isn't saying anything about this. No information as to why their API is out.
Let's just hope this minor API outage won't cause bitcoin price to drop even more. Chinese traders are very allergic to even slight trace of negative news.
They might think that Huobi is closing or something and start their standard panic selling.  Undecided
