Been playing a little Black Jack lately even tho I have no idea what I'm really doing. I think I'm playing the most inefficient betting strategy. Lol. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Anyway, I wish we could have a new game like Open Face Chinese Poker or even Baccarat to get more action going. Would those games be something in the pipe line for Bitdice? Guy, even though you know what you are doing, its still not a guarantee to winning as the element of risk is always involved. Also, you should not forget that there are people who are equally better than you in any game which might even bring you back to the first place you were before pursuing another route to winning. Well, I think it is still better if you know what you are doing, if you do not know what you are doing, you will surely not gonna appreciate the game. Every gambler do gamble for fun so where is the fun there, it's okay to lose but at least you have fun to get your money's worth. Well yeah, you are likely to lose a lot faster if you don't know what you are doing or some of the strategy involved. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

If I sign a message and so lose the SHA256, and RIPEMD160 protections for that address, now only having ECDSA,
are all the other addresses so weakened as it is a deterministic wallet or otherwise?
no they are not. the only scenario where this is a problem is below: - attacker has your master public key aka extended public key. - attacker has the private key for any one of your addresses (private key not public key). In the above scenario the attacker can enumerate all the private keys in your electrum wallet. They can get all the money. For other deterministic wallets it is different because they use hardening at some levels. Hardened chains can't be derived if the attacker has the above information. There are downsides to this as well such as the fact that you can generate addresses from just the xpub which is a useful feature of deterministic wallets. With the master public key and a single private key, you can derive all other private keys? That is pretty scary, but I guess you usually don't give out either of those pieces of information. Good to be aware that is possible though.

So next time you might fell like you really really know what you are doing ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Yep luck is certainly a big factor, but it is kinda cool knowing your choices are also affecting the result more than a simple High/Low choice. Gives it another bit of depth which is pretty cool.

I highly doubt we would see prices as high as 500k, but I could certainly see prices in the 10k range in the future perhaps. Its really hard to tell but I'm excited to see what happens in a few years.

A private key allows you to spend the value within a public address. If someone else gets access to your private key, they can spend the coins in your funds. It can be compared to your password to your bitcoin address in laymen terms.
You can import private keys into most wallets such as Electrum and then you will have access to all funds on that address.

The way this kind of hardware wallets works is that the keys/seeds are never exposed to the computer. When a transaction is initiated, the computer scripts the unsigned transaction and sends it to your ledger nano to sign. The transaction is then brought back to the computer to broadcast. This way, the private key is never really exposed to your vulnerable computer.
Electrum will not be able to restore the seed since it uses BIP39. You can however, convert it into xpriv and import into Electrum.
Electrum can restore BIP39 seeds as well if needed. You just have to click the option for it. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs14.postimg.org%2Fb4lvt91wh%2Fimage.png&t=663&c=Hx2HFX2FDOOZJw)

I figured out how to make my deposits but can anyone help me with the sending please? It says "pay to" what do I put in there to send to my bank? My name addressing and routing info?
What wallet software are you using? You send and receive solely with bitcoin addresses. No names or addresses are used unless you are trying to connect your fiat bank to transfer bitcoins back and forth ?
|
|
|
I waited to all parent transaction be confirmed but when sent BTC the address that was used for receiving is used again
I'm a bit confused at what you are asking. Are you talking about the change when you send bitcoins? If so, you can adjust this in Preferences -> Transactions -> (Use change addresses and Coin selection options)

The Ledger Nano S and Trezor are both good choices for a hardware wallet. The Trezor 2 is also going to be coming out fairly soon I think but not sure exactly when that will be. You may want to think about waiting for that if you choose to go with a Trezor.

Choosing not to upgrade will create more problems than upgrading, even if it's a lot of work.
Yeah, I definitely recommend you spend the effort to upgrade as you'll get all the new bug fixes and features. The new version should work quite a bit better so I definitely recommend trying to get it working.

If I move fast, what can I do to stop the theft? Create a different wallet and transfer the balance to it? Is that the best thing to do?
Yep, if you know that your seed or wallet is compromised, the best course of action would be to create a new wallet and send all the wallets to that new wallet.

Hi,
I just sent Bitcoins from Paymium to Electrum and though the money has gone from Paymium it is not showing in my Electrum wallet. I sent it by scanning the QR code which appeared in Electrum in 'Receive'.
I am just starting out, can anyone help??
Thank you
Is Electrum fully synched? What color is the dot in the lower right corner? If it is not synced, you may need to wait for it to properly sync for the funds to show up. I recommend checking the Network Preferences and making sure you are properly connected to servers and then leave Electrum open for awhile so it can sync.

I believe they are now recommending the use of ElectrumX over the normal Electrum Server. Is there a reason you aren't using ElectrumX?

If someone gets hold of my wallet and also learns my seed and passcode, can I do anything to stop my wallet being drained?
No you cannot. If someone has access to your seed, they can recreate your wallet. If they have access to your wallet and password, they can also spend coins or obtain your seed. A hardware wallet can add additional security by requiring physical access to the hardware wallet, but if the seed is ever compromised you are still out of luck so protect the seed at all costs.

You again? You're pretty good at this. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ahah, not really...i'm on cpu Seriously? If I try on CPU it tells me "50% in 10 days"... Same. Not sure how he could find so many on CPU unless running it across a bunch of PCs or something.

You again? You're pretty good at this. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I sent 12.5 CLAMs to your Just-Dice account. ahah, not really...i'm on cpu and i suspect i'm the only one looking for them ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Well I want to participate but I just can't do the compile part can someone help me please when I trying to compile the vanitygen it says error 127 command not found Yeah compiling is a pain and the version I had previously compiled doesn't support compressed keys. I tried messing around with the Bash installation in Win10 but couldn't get it to recognize my GPUs for some reason after it was compiled. I need to setup a true Linux environment lol

You made the same mistake as RGBKey. That's not a compressed key. The PrivkeyPart needs to start with an 'L' not a '5'. Did you forget the 'C' flag to vanitygen? I wonder what's going on that 2 out of 4 people copy/pasted the command wrong. Looks like the clam version of vanitygen I was using didn't support Compressed and the C option simply specified a CLAM address. Was using an old version I had from awhile back.

Hi everybody, i have a big problem and i hope you guys can help me. Ive installed Electrum 2.8.2 and recieved some funds all worked fine. then i tried to Send BTC and it shown me the message: Error: No Connection to the Server. In the left buttom corner is just written "Synchronizing" ive Reinstalled it, restartet computer I Have no AV Software on PC. I cant sign in there is the message "Not Connected" or "Synchrinizing" Tried other server, left computer runnig over night, reinstalled, rebooted pc...nothing works System: Windows10 - x64 please help me guys there are over 500€ in wallet ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) thanks Try double clicking the status circle in the lower right corner of Electrum to bring up the Network window. Does it show you connected to any servers? Is "select server automatically" and "use ssl" checked? I'd recommend they both be checked if not. You can try manually selected a server instead of manually connecting if you are having issues getting connected to a server. The other possibility is that you have a firewall or something that is blocking the connections from Electrum. Have you been able to get Electrum synced in the past or is the first time you are using it?
