I'm thinking about getting back into clams and clam staking again. I had to pull out a couple of years ago needing the funds.
Roughly what it the current annual stake rate please anyone?

I ran a test for the last few months to answer exactly that question. I put 10k CLAMs into a wallet and left it to stake.

It staked 553 times in 75.68 days. That means you need 1368.55 CLAMs to stake once per day on average.

I calculate that to be 26.67% annual return:

>>> 553 / 75.68 * 365 / 10000 * 100
26.67

I think doog's number was a bit low before, but now it seems right in line with the reduced network weight.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

The post you quoted was someone winning 2nd place in my vanitygen contest, not a whale trading with himself.

If you're referring to the recent price action in the CLAM market, I strongly suspect that it's scared money moving out of BTC and into alts. We've seen the same thing happen in lots of altcoins recently as the BU FUD scares people away from BTC.

I'd like to see CLAM rebased to a recent Bitcoin release so we can activate SegWit and have Lightning Network offchain transactions in CLAM. It would help alleviate the faucet dust spam problem we're seeing.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to cryptocurrency, so I've been reading and picking up what I can to get into it. I've been interested in CLAM and I've been trying to get that vanity thing for dooglus.

I compiled it successfully on ubuntu. For those who are having any trouble, here are the steps I made:

1. Make sure you have all the packages for compiling: "sudo apt-get install git make libpcre3 libpcre3-dev libssl-dev gcc"
2. Get source from github: "git clone https://github.com/dooglus/vanitygen"
3. Change directory into vanitygen: "cd vanitygen"
4. Compile: "make"

Here's where my question comes in. I am running the vanitygen on multiple computers. Is there a way I can have them all work together, or do I just run it all separately on all the machines? They're all on the same network.

The command I am currently running is: ./vanitygen -CP 0257DEAE526EEF77D275447D70F233DCF0DBF50AF0C239AD0C46CE1A6D48849B1F xJDCLAMZ -o output

I'm hoping the results will be saved to a file called output in the same directory, in case the computer crashes or shuts off before I can check on it. Do I have to create a blank output file, or will vanitygen do it automatically?

Lastly, is there a way to use GPU rather than CPU?

You made the same mistake as RGBKey. That's not a compressed key. The PrivkeyPart needs to start with an 'L' not a '5'.

Did you forget the 'C' flag to vanitygen? I wonder what's going on that 2 out of 4 people copy/pasted the command wrong.

Lastly, is there a way to use GPU rather than CPU?

run this command:

Code:

C for 'compressed', 'P' for 'public key'.

The 'oclvanitygen' program uses the GPU.

I tried it. I was getting "command not found." Found out that I have to compile it separately with "make oclvanitygen" I'm getting an issue though.

oclengine.c:37:19: fatal error: CL/cl.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
<builtin>: recipe for target 'oclengine.o' failed
make: *** [oclengine.o] Error 1

Found out it has something to do with OpenCL. I'm working on it. I'll update my post after I figure out how to install OpenCL.

Looks like the clam version of vanitygen I was using didn't support Compressed and the C option simply specified a CLAM address. Was using an old version I had from awhile back.
