681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: September 06, 2017, 09:12:59 AM
Dash and Monero have similar marketcaps right now.

I have heard that Monero has better anonymity than Dash with it's masternode setup.

What reasons do you guys suggest to use Dash instead of Monero, from a general user's point of view.

Why is Dash better than Monero if it is at all?
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POPULOUS - Invoice trading platform | ICO l BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: September 06, 2017, 09:05:58 AM
Of course this is big thing as mentioned by someone above that PPT/USD trading pair's availability at Hitbtc. Having access to some token directly using fiat is really big thing and huge step because many people feels more better this way. I also appreciate the decision of team Populous to keep the thread open and active continuously.

A better improvement would be to have direct credit/debit card payment option.

I think there was an ETH token that did exactly this, trying to bridge ICO tokens with fiat credit card so that they can buy all ETH tokens directly with a credit/debit card.

But until then Hitbtc is decent. I have to check out that exchange more, it looks very smooth.

I would like to purchase more PPT on a weekly basis while the price is still suppressed. I see the long term future for POPULOUS and as I would eventually like to retire from my job as I am now 60 years of age, POPULOUS might be able to supplement my future income in a passive manner. I doubt I will be purchasing a Lamborgini, but by purchasing POPULOUS tokens now I might be able to buy some quality time with my Family.  Grin

Think of it this way. PPT tries to tap into the invoice market which is trillions of $ worth.

If we only get 10% of it, which is a severe underestimation i think that would mean a market cap of 100,000,000,000$

Currently the market cap is 164,289,132  meaning that we have a potential ROI of x609

If we buy like 1000$ which is really something somebody can afford to lose for such huge gains.

Then 1000$ can be easily turned into 609,000$ in the next couple of years.

I think PPT will have a great future ahead of it, something not just crypto nerds will use but also the banking system.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem pyramid scheme revealed on: September 06, 2017, 08:56:44 AM

Why can’t it shift to a donation model (a la Monero) when the corporation exits. The key developers who were employees of the corporation, then continue to work for donations (or because they have so many tokens).

One of the key aspects is that the decentralized ledger could possibly be designed such that it can be upgraded by independent (even contending) groups without requiring a hard fork and without needing a significant consensus. IOW, the ledger would be designed so that it can run multiple “forks” simultaneously. The technological discussion of that is out-of-scope for this thread.

Donation models are always strugling, and it's kind of demoralizing to always beg for money.

For profit models are much smoother. Sort of like how Canonical a for profit company had taken over a Ubuntu distro compared to other linux distros that are donation based. Ubuntu has more success compared to that.

While I love Debian, I do think some of the funding system could be designed to be for profit.

This doesnt mean that you can't donate if you want, but you could introduce some other stuff that would be for profit. Just to make the funding smoother.

A cryptocurrency is a perfect combination between a nonprofit and a forprofit entity.

You design a platform that is nonprofit, public. And on top of that you build for profit services.

Steem would be like this. The blockchain is public, Steemit is private and you can build other services on Steem too.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem pyramid scheme revealed on: September 06, 2017, 08:52:07 AM

Been noticing many Indians joining. I doubt most male Indians are there to build the ecosystem, but rather probably to game it and extract from it. Perhaps my experiences with male Indians is not representative.

Hey that's kind of racist. There are tons of good Indian software developers out there working in many software fields related or affecting cryptos.

In fact I did a research on gambling a while ago and it's mostly indians and chinese.

So the entire cryptocurrency gambling industry is supported by asians. They are very very important in this economy.

Once you get some kind of Steem based gambling website, you bet that will help.
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem pyramid scheme revealed on: September 06, 2017, 06:30:48 AM
Steem is a true currency now, it can be directly used to buy stuff with. This is the definition of a true currency.

https://www.peerhub.com/

Not more than a handful of people will use it because not enough people have STEEM to make the economies-of-scale sufficient to jumpstart it. And no one is going to buy STEEM to use it. Thus the cross-section of people interested to sell and buy from compatible locations at any given time out of a small population of Steemians who live all over the world, is roughly a handfull ± handful. It’s the classic hen-egg dilemma.

“Build it and they will come” is not a valid marketing concept. Identify an unmet need which drives viral adoption from the moment of launch.

That is a stupid analogy and you know it.

Things are always unequally distributed, let's face it, Marxism is nonsense.

So you could just as well say that BTC is not well distributed and that people barely have a few thousand satoshis, so they can't use  BTC based services.

Steem is only little more than 1 year old, give it some time. BTC didn't got many users only by 2014 when they started putting ATMs in cities.

Maybe Steem will have to do the same, but it's only 1 year old. And there are like 300k users.

Wait 1-2 more years when there will be millions of users ,and you will get your economy  Grin

Guys what happend with ethermine org  its looks like mining ETH got slower , 240 Mhs - its mined 0.05 almost 26 hours ?
anybody ? Grin

just wait for the difficulty bomb to hit in the upcoming fork Smiley
What fork?

Here is the small article about it http://kryptomoney.com/latest-cryptocurrency-news-ethereum-hardfork-septemebr-2017/. There will be huge changes at ETH...

And that is why the price is crashing I believe.

This is exactly as with BTC. Before the hardfork the price crashed, after the hardfork it skyrocketed.

Same could happen to ETH. Price might go down a few more percent points, maybe 10-15%.

Then after the hardfork, we will have massive new features, the market can will easily hit 100 billion $ by 2018 Cheesy

Hey guys any news when the lightweight monero wallet will come out? I have heard that it will come soon.  I would need a date or an estimation?

You can download the official GUI and subsequently apply this guide:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3273/how-can-i-use-monero-without-syncing-the-blockchain

Basically you're trusting the node operator for the stuff you need to send/receive transactions in exchange not to do the heavy lifting of running a full node.
Yeah you gotta undervolt those 7990s they pull a lot of power and the cooling sucks bad, it's very loud even at 50% fans

Well okay, i'll look into it.

Do you have any kind of guide for VPN ? Is it possible to route that connection through a VPN?

It's worth hyping and repeating because it's kind of a big deal, if you agree, this is what marketing is all about.

Retweet that and share it on all social media with all the power you have.

This is really a great announcement. A very serious very professional team working directly with the community.

Fantastic, amazing news. This project is awesome Smiley

Of course it does. Currently there is no marketing at all, not that I see anyway. If people don't know about Wildspark, then they wont use it, it's simple logic.

I've wondered about this.  No marketing to Joe public.. None at all. Yet.  I assume the team has us in a holding pattern in a defacto 2nd beta low profile release phase. Marketing to come down the line? It's the only explanation. You don't spend years developing an interactive public product then keep it secret!

I really expect some kind of announcement soon.

They really need to kickstart this, and get more customers. While they are coming right passively, the userbase grows by a few percent weekly.

It would certainly be so much better if they would start promoting it via the media.

I believe they are still adding new features  to it  or testing it and we might see some kind of announcement later this year.

So far they have done a great job working hard to release Wildspark before schedule, so who knows what exciting plans they have next.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POPULOUS - Invoice trading platform | ICO l BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: September 06, 2017, 04:58:49 AM
We should be seeing ppt on hitbtc tomorrow or sometime soon. Twitter said 6 to 7 days on the 31st

HitBTC is a vey good exchange and i cant wait to see ppt here.

It's decent, nothing remarcable.

But it's worth if they add a PPT/USD pair so that people can buy it directly with their fiat money.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POPULOUS - Invoice trading platform | ICO l BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: September 05, 2017, 02:03:31 PM
I don't think anybody want to buy this coin after bounty scam. Yes they paid signature users, but they didn't pay a lot of blog writers even though they accepted works. First they decreased total blog prize pool (which is very big amount, worth +600.000 USD now), then they delay payments, then they denied some accepted blogs and then decided not to pay. You can see all evidences in this forum*. If they were honest and paid blog bounties as promised I'm sure nobody would complain here.

"You can see all evidences in this forum" is not concrete evidence. Either show some actual evidence or shut up.

This is exactly what I was talking about. Many whining people begging for 2-3 $ for some blog post. Most of the time of course, they were either copy pastes (yes we see that all the time) or low quality. Either way the bounty payment is discretionary and there is usually a quality standard.

Most people didn't hit the quality threshold, so now they come here to bitch and whine how they got "scammed".

Bunch of idiots really. They should get a life and stop the FUD.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POPULOUS - Invoice trading platform | ICO l BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: September 05, 2017, 01:22:41 PM
This is why bounty programs for post and such can be counter productive, some people will always try and abuse the system for cheap coins.

Bunch of crybaby kindergarteners. They make a horrible scene out of a few bucks lost or skipped.

What kind of schmucks are these people?

They scammed more than 300.000 USD worth of tokens, if this is a few bucks for you then what are you doing here? Smiley
If you don't know anything about that scam I suggest you to read the forum. And don't talk about something you clearly have NO info about. That makes you look ignorant.

Do you have any solid evidence for that?

Because I see bounty fiascos in almost every single thread I read. I am assuming you are referring to the bountry program.

I see thousands of newbies, scammers, trolls who whine all day about some kind of bounty that they didnt get paid for, without reading eligibility requirements and such.

Basically they are probably just 5 year old kids who are bored and their lives are so worthless that they have to spend hours on a forum begging for 2$ for a bounty that they allegedly didnt get paid for.

Of course who knows maybe they did, they might just want to make a scene, and FUD here, trying to defame the team and crash the price so that they can buy it up cheaply.

695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: EtherDelta - Decentralized Token Exchange on: September 05, 2017, 12:59:10 PM
Etherdelta is slow and confusing.

Please copy the interface of Bittrex. Simple Fast and Easy

Even Cryptopia got better UI

I have teh same experience about the UI interface, the etherdelta should improve the UI interface to be simply and friendly for users though I can still find the answer in the help document.

It's easy to criticize something but there is only 1 guy working on it.

Get some volunteer front end devs who would like to help out with the website design and tell them to contact the main dev if you want the UI to be improved faster. Otherwise, you just have to wait. The dev is working as hard as he can to make this exchange succeed, but he is only 1 man.

696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 05, 2017, 11:19:01 AM
Eth is really at very low compated to BTC.

I can easily see ETH hitting 60 billion$ before the year ends. It's a massive project especially now that Russians are joining the mining space.

Plus you have tons of ICO's coming that bring value into this.

ETH can easily beat BTC.  Wink
Yes, there so many strong ICO project are developed under this Ethereum technology and many are coming. That's good enough to increase the volume and price. Keep going smoothly, there don't need to hurry!

But no one work  Smiley outside POC. I mean mass adoption. Seems last growth period is not organic too

in fact it is in decline

Ok there is a correction now, nothing unusual, it's expected.

But after the dust settles, we are going to see tons of tokens bring in massive value.

I mean we have things like VERI or PPT that could potentially bring in hundreds of billions of $ from the financial sector.

It's crazy but it's totally possible. Most new ICO's are overstretched, and scammy, that is why people are selling ETH now.

Only those will survive that have professional/ financial market aspect. So I am confident in VERI and PPT at this moment.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: September 05, 2017, 11:12:53 AM
After finally trying Steemit I have to say it is pretty damn good and over time once it grows it could definitely rival Reddit.

It kinda looks more like a rival to Medium at this point. Though Medium has a better gui and a quicker website.

Steemit needs more front end development, and making the website faster and more aesthetic.

But it's still better than Medium, you can make money Wink

You don't need to run the daemon and sync blocks which trash the cpu like crazy while verifying. Go to settings stop the daemon, enter node.moneroworld.com at daemon address with port 18089 and just click connect, bam lightweight monero wallet.

Dusted off 3 of my 7990's hashing coolly at 65-70C Cheesy I hope I can get my 4th one running to push +4kh/s!

1 Volt? Doesn't look like overclocking lol.

What do you mean by entering that to the demon address? Is that some kind of remote connection stuff? How does the transactions get verified this way, some kind of SPV relay? Because you do need to download bare minimum the transactions affecting your addresses in order to compute the balance.

So I really dont know what this means. I didnt know the monero client supports this kind of protocol.

I have an placed order that i wish to cancel and i pressed the cancel button and it showed a transaction but this transaction is still pending for 30min...what am i doing wrong? i just want to send my ether to mew again

Try refreshing the page, sometimes the display doesnt update itself correctly, but reloading the page should fix it. Normally a tx should not take more than 1-2 mins to confirm in ETH.
