681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: April 16, 2018, 01:47:44 PM
I think I've died about 5000 times from holding my breath on this one. Every day I see it with the big zero in my block folio and just shrug.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Quality of discussion on: February 20, 2018, 05:05:50 PM
Is it just me or has the quality of discussion and even grammatical coherence of posts gone down almost as logarithmyically as bitcoin went up last year?  I've been off the board for a little while and coming back it feels like it's completely different, I gleaned a MASSIVE amount of knowledge hear in the past years and now all I see is google translates of boiler plate statements.

Granted those translations have always been here, just seems like that's ALL there is these days.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080 started smoking on: February 20, 2018, 04:55:37 PM
I had an MSI 1080 go up in smoke a few months back, watched it happen, was kinda cool.  Sent it in for warranty work and got it back in less than 2 weeks.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: January 15, 2018, 05:13:05 PM
What the hell did I miss, when did Tis double in price??
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: January 12, 2018, 02:10:58 PM
i bet it's been tough on you guys hanging on to SPR for so long. I hope they release in this quarter. I'm interested in them personally and through my employer. The service nodes are an interesting concept and I hope they pan out.

Have helium, pending wallet release, but haven't had spread for months.
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: December 29, 2017, 02:41:57 AM
    So, just for some clarity:

  • The primary dev/promoter has not logged into BTCT since October
  • The github repo has had no code commits/activity since October
  • There was considerable speculation this was just a scheme to pump SPR for bagholders
  • SPR hit ATH in... October just before split
  • Slack is no longer auto-inviting and there's been zero updates for two months

Going out on a limb here, but the speculation seems correct.[/list]

  • WTF are you talking about? BTCT is not the name of the Helium repository. Just like any intelligent dev they do not post repository updates until it is live on the main net. No one in their right mind would make their intelectual property public before they can implement it.

    Quote
The 'official' repository at heliumpay is more or less empty as HLM is still weeks ahead of launch but if you are in dire need of GitHubs please feel welcome.

    • An ICO would be a better way to scam the community, an airdrop without a launch? Why wouldn't they just launch a Dash clone and make even more money?

    • Of course it hit ATH, because a superior project was born.

      • Bullshit, slack may be full but there have been plenty of updates. There was one just a few days ago.

Now that's what I needed to hear. Same for many people here who are becoming doubtful of the project.

But if that's the case, I would hope they'd drop a quick update to all their channels. I also wish they hadn't hunted at an imminent launch mid-november on twitter. That got a lot of our hopes up. Like others have said, needing more time is fine. Not dropping any updates on this main thread nor on Twitter with the only updates being on a closed Slack, doesn't help the FUD that many are spreading here.

And likewise, as others have said, this whole pre-launch marketing and whatnot could have been handled a lot better. I think there's a lot that can still be salvaged and not make this entire coin a massive dump on launch, but the team REALLY has to want it IMO. Simply showing that would go a long way. [/list][/list]

I've seen a fair number of scams and "fail to fully launch" projects and this is hitting a LOT of the stereotypical markers.

I, like you and many others, HOPE that it's not, but if it walks like a duck...

I wasn't saying BTCT was their repo, I was noting they hadn't logged in here OR made any commits on github too.

Also, the IP argument doesn't hold much water, their git repo is basically just a clone of the DASH codebase, and this tech (like almost all blockchain projects) are open source, so there's no IP claim to be made, AND if they're building on a GPL license code base (read: DASH) under most circumstances they MUST release their code under the same license (the paid miner mod folks get shit for this because they're closed source releasing and profiting off others FOSS releases).

I'm still hopeful, but given all the above i'm not holding my breath.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: December 28, 2017, 08:42:56 PM
I understand that they will pay dividends in february like 1-10th.

When are they taking a snapshot? Just before the payment or they have set some block or date for it?

You can sign up for their mailing list, they publish well in advance of payouts to give instruction on how to get a dividend.

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: December 27, 2017, 06:10:37 AM
That feeling when you did not buy a coin of 0.09, and it quickly grew to 0.30. It's a shame, annoying but okay. Have to look at bitcoin

I buyed from 0.03 with my friends advice. Most of used for my son. Trading is a very hard for me, if I could make some profit, I will hodl as stellar.
I also bought at this price, I possoveta close friend, actually it all advised on my Facebook page, who obeyed him lucky is already profit *8 but it was *10, but will be *30 soon, take a look at RIPL, this is the exact same coin, only worse because it is centralized, while the decentralization of stellar makes the coin much more attractive, so in the coming months she will do 1$

ummm...  what?
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: December 25, 2017, 03:11:31 AM
Curious how did the xmas airdrop worked?

Santa is getting lazy, just using smart contacts to distribute now, he was supposed to headband deliver the lambo I asked for.

Honestly though, awesome gesture from a very forward thinking dev team.

Every airdrop registered BTX address with more than 1 BTX in it got 1 BTX from Santa.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: December 25, 2017, 03:03:24 AM
If you bought early enough in the notice period and sold spread not long after the snapshot it wad possible to make a profit regardless of helium, for those they bought at the lady minute it may ends poorly.

Personally I got in early ands still hope for success but even if it's a total sham, wasn't  the first and won't be the last.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 21, 2017, 01:50:05 AM
What are the best brands models for 1080ti? Which one is cooler and better?
evga since they have the best rma, strix oc and gigabyte aorus extreme come second with thier cooling
I'll add I recently had to RMA an MSI card and the process went super smooth.  Less than a month from death to a new card up and running, pretty sure the replacement was brand new too.

I have just signed up cryptobridge exchanger. I saw password generated stated for your browser. And no email required for the sign up. So, there is no way to recover password if I lost it, right?

And can I login with this account at other browser?

You're correct, treat that password the same as a private key.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in the classroom on: December 16, 2017, 07:58:09 AM
Thanks
It is what I found too.
Expect to find a "official" repo from both ethereum or monero...

Pools are a construct from the mining community.  Generally they're not needed, and with BTC as example were actually counter to it's original design.  So you basically won't ever see pool code created by coin devs.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: December 16, 2017, 07:54:30 AM
Is anyone using anything other than zcash4win?  I heard its not a great idea to keep coins on a site, so I'm using this.
Never tried zcash4win but there is also Exodus wallet or JAXX wallet that you can mine to. Personnally I use a hardware wallet: Trezor. Ledger
nano S is also a good hardware wallet.

Don't forget Eleos and Swing too.
696  Economy / Computer hardware / PCI Risers and some other stuff on: December 16, 2017, 02:41:06 AM
I have a box with 8 or 9 riser cards, cables enough for 8 (sata to molex, usb, slot card) with MOLEX power adapters.  I finally fully upgraded to PCI powered risers and don't intend to need or use these at all.  I also have add2psu modules, an m2 to pci and an m2 to usb adapter I'll throw in the box with them that I don't need anymore.

They're all clean and in good shape, not sure if they're all 100% because I don't think I actually used each one of them.

If you're interested make an offer.

I'm open to cash or crypto or anything else interesting, personally value them at about $50 all together.

HAH, I'm watching IT right now, prefect timing to read this.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 07, 2017, 12:09:50 AM
I still have a balance but I couldn't mine, so not sure how I can get my BTC without being able to mine up to the cashout threshold

Balances are basically all gone from the sound of it, unless NH has a HUGE cash reserve somehow.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 04, 2017, 06:50:00 PM
Hey guys so I did not receive my airdrop for this full moon, In the chatbot history it shows a payment just for blackbytes today but when I click the history tab for all my transactions all I see is the payment made to my wallet for last months airdrop does anyone know whats up?

Distributions are paused until at least March next year.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone max out their Credit Cards on mining gear? on: December 04, 2017, 01:02:08 AM
I got close to maxing a credit line early in the year, but it's nearly paid off now.  Since it was 0% for 12 months and i'll have it covered by then I feel pretty good.  I've already turned over some cards online for almost 1:1 return too, working towards best power density because i'm limited on how many amps I can pull.
