About fucking time, really glad to see this because I was pushing for this type of thing awhile ago, this is actually where payment processors would be extremely helpful. I hope to see more companies like this springing up everywhere to support the market properly.

Then surely you agree with my points about how the Foundation should encourage and enable Bitcoin rather than try to control it?

If you want to 'encourage and enable' Bitcoin, then do what everyone else does, make reliable software for it that works and facilitates trade as well as promote Bitcoin itself in a passive way that doesn't involve religious zeal about it. Creating something like the Bitcoin foundation and being a self-appointed leader while talking to government regulators will get you no where, especially with the Anarchists on this board.

Christ, reading through your write up makes me think of you more and more as a British politician which automatically puts me in 'sarcastic and angry Englishman' mode.

I'm particularly against agendas of this sort which focus on promoting tax evasion, anarchy, or other anti-government activities.
I'm against pro-government activities particularly starting wars, drug prohibition, counterfeiting and other violent acts against otherwise peaceful people.  Guess we are diametrically opposed.
Surely you can oppose those things without trying to force it on everyone using Bitcoin?

No one's forcing you to use Bitcoin you halfwit, it's purely optional, however we're all being forced to use the current paper money system, if you don't pay into the system you'd go to jail and it's no good telling us to leave because the planet is too small and we haven't mastered space flight yet. What particularly pisses me off is the way the 'Bitcoin' foundation has tried to hijack this currency instead of just making their own one and establishing their own rules about the currency, that would be a better use of everyone's time.

People like you try to preach about not forcing things on others but when it comes to your own beliefs your more than happy to use the very same methods while completely ignoring the fact that you're doing it. Get rid of the 'with us or against us' attitude and maybe people might be feeling more diplomatic with your sort of ideology, this is also a brilliant example of why everyone hates America currently, even other Americans.
6824  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitcoin "Monarch" PCI Express 600 GH/s cards.. WTF on: August 19, 2013, 05:05:05 AM
Their preorder BS has run its course. My view: I won't buy until they have it in stock and even then I likely won't buy just based on their shady business practices.

Holy shit, you've finally found some common sense? Wish more people here would.

I want to be more ambitious than that and I don't want to use anything pre-built I don't care about it easy because this is a long term thing I've always wanted to try Cheesy I'm hoping I can make something that will power up my computer by itself or air conditioning etc. none of this silly 'power a lightbulb' crap that's posted around everywhere.
6826  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [DISCUSS]Luke-Jr is standing for election to the board of the Bitcoin Foundation on: August 18, 2013, 02:45:19 PM
I know I'm hardly an influential person because I don't like messing with this kind of thing much but I'll throw my opinion in anyway and say fuck the Bitcoin foundation, I guarantee you it's just a wannabe Federal Reserve where even the way they elect their leaders is done the same and the leader is essentially a scapegoat and punchbag for several years until eventually they get replaced and some other sucker takes up the position.
6827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MΣC] Megacoin.co.nz - Website Launched! on: August 18, 2013, 11:05:25 AM
I said this to the DigitalCoin guy but if you really want to give your coin a boost then set up a shopping cart interface specifically for your currency that people can easily use. I actually agree with the critics that so many of these coins are just clones or pump and dump schemes but if you want people to actually use your currency then you need to make it a lot easier to trade with, if it's coded reasonably well then even I wouldn't mind throwing it up on my website just to see what happens.

Too many developers are clearly just copy and pasting and don't really have any clue of how to get things moving or even how to edit the code properly.

Now THIS one looks like the most interesting website I've found so far, it's not just cardboard and stuff but actually shows you how to build all kinds of generators from scratch ( quite literally ) I may not be able to grab bits of metal and put it together like I want to but this should give me a general idea of how these things are assembled.

http://www.scraptopower.co.uk/home

Now if only I could find more stuff on how to make my own solar panels Cheesy

I need to find good stuff though Tongue I suppose I'll have to sift through more of it Cheesy too much of it is "Make your own generator out of cardboard!" type stuff or those generator kit scams which is useless for the amount of electricity I want to generate.
6831  Other / Off-topic / Re: Second Life users here? on: August 17, 2013, 04:48:24 PM
I tried Second Life a couple of times but the problem is they demand credit cards and only credit cards in order to upload anything decent which is pretty infuriating Sad someone should make a Bitcoin version of it lol that's a lot more modding friendly.
6832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] RealCoin REC – Coin closest to real money |Coin of the real life| Launched on: August 17, 2013, 11:17:53 AM
I think alternate currencies are fantastic and are going to make a true free market but when you go and call your Clonecoin 'RealCoin' that really is just insulting, come up with some better ideas, seriously, like maybe putting in proper webstore support before you make the currency so actual merchants can use it and people can trade it.
6833  Other / Off-topic / I want to mess around with electricity generation on: August 17, 2013, 11:07:17 AM
So I've been looking at various methods of electricity generation for a while now and I've decided at some point I actually want to try things out but I need to find better information about it all so I can actually do it. Do you guys have any sites or bits of information you'd recommend? Even school couldn't fuck up learning the basics of electricity for me so I at least know about the basics but when it comes to actually assembling and building generators I'm a bit stumped because lessons never went into that much detail.

The most I've been able to find are some simple wind generators which use magnets, copper wire and a bit of plastic or there are those stupid school ones that don't explain anything properly or do a really half-assed job of it. I'm actually thinking in a slightly bigger scale than that, I'm not looking to power up a light bulb or anything I was hoping I'd be able to experiment and figure out how general electricity generation worked and maybe even use something to power up my computer.

I may well end up with nothing, but it sure would be nice to come close or at least detach certain electric run stuff off the grid to save money, like an air conditioner trolololol Cheesy

Never put a large amount of money on an online account, let this be a warning to any newbies who are thinking of doing the same, it may seem convenient but I assure you it can and will get stolen.
6835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Banks Increasingly Difficult To Work With on: August 17, 2013, 08:42:11 AM
LOL well the focus is on Peter Schiff, he goes everywhere, but he's very good at explaining economics and was one of the reasons I got so interested in it and did more research, we're currently at the phase now where the banks are doing everything they can to try and steal our wealth and make sure none of it leaves the country, governments and banks have been conspiring on ways to do it for centuries now.
6836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Banks Increasingly Difficult To Work With on: August 17, 2013, 08:36:04 AM
This may interest you guys and may explain lately why the banks are getting even more bitchy than usual about you doing business with them, they're probably terrified that all the money is going to go out of the country.

If I were 16 and just learning about Bitcoin because someone (parents?) gave me some "pocket money" in Bitcoin, there's no question that I'd find out what Silk Road is. There's too much information about it and a simple Google search will bring up at least a few pages that mention it.

Just because they can easily find it doesn't mean they'll go on it, I'm getting tired of just how patronising and arrogant a lot of adults are when it comes to children, they're far more intelligent than they give them credit for, in a lot of cases they're going to be more intelligent than the adults. Don't make the mistake of thinking because they can't express themselves very well yet that they're stupid, most children I know of would never bother with something like Silkroad or even gambling sites.

That said, any adult I have to tell this to never gives a fuck to begin with and insists they need to lord over them for their own safety.
6839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pump and dump collective? on: August 16, 2013, 08:58:13 PM
The simple way to avoid pump and dump is to not be there, that goes for any sort of fight, speculation is pretty dangerous if you're playing with a lot of cash and don't have a lot of experience doing it, I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near it until you've at least studied how to read the candlestick charts properly and even then there's no guarantee you'll make a profit.

All I can recommend is that if you do want to go into this the best thing to do is get into it when the prices are so low that it won't matter how much they mess with the prices, that said, this appears to be the same problem we had with Bitcoin. A lot of people were complaining about this but eventually as more and more people moved in the people with the huge chunks of cash hardly mattered anymore, I suspect that will be what will happen with the alternate currencies as well as people find the niche they like. I'm no experienced trader though but that's just what I've seen happen from looking at the the way the markets have been moving, I wouldn't run around panicking just yet, people had the same attitudes about ASIC's and 51% attacks or the government buying out Bitcoin ( lol Cheesy ) and nothing has really happened.

Let me tell you first that I am an ardent supporter of capitalism, but not of kepto or narcissic government sponsored capitalism.
What people are referring to when they talking about the evils of capitalism is more accurately called "fascism".

Corporatism actually I would say Tongue
