6881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 41% of people globally say they trust Bitcoin over local currencies on: November 19, 2021, 08:28:17 PM
the number of people in this survey is still very small and I think people comment but without analyzing the consequences, bitcoin is a very good cryptocurrency, but bitcoin cannot replace the local currency, people's wages must be paid in Fiat and in banks so that people can be deducted from insurance, taxes and various other things, so it is clear that people have no choice in relying on the local currency whereas with bitcoin and this volatility people have lost out if they received wages in bitcoin

I would agree the sample is questionable.  I'm not sure I believe that 41% of people know what Bitcoin is.  Certainly 41% of the people I know aren't familiar enough with it to consider using it at all, let alone replacing their local currency with it.  If the poll said that 41% of people had heard of Bitcoin, I would maybe agree that's possible (although I think still unlikely).  When I'm out and about, I hear more people talking about doge and shiba than Bitcoin.  It feels to me like Bitcoin is becoming this mysterious thing that only Wall Street funds actually own.
6882  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.com what is it? on: November 19, 2021, 06:17:08 AM
The only websites related to satoshi is bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.org,

I don’t think satoshi ever used either of those sites. My understanding is that the forum was hosted on a different domain (I won’t dare post it) and didn’t move to bitcointalk.org until after satoshi stopped posting. I think it’s likely that satoshi was aware of bitcointalk.org but if he ever used it, it wasn’t under the name satoshi as far as I know. Certainly there are others more familiar with this time period than I am.

I'm suddenly seeing a bug that I can't get past during the login phase.  It keeps crashing my browser window.  This seems to happening every time so I don't believe it's an isolated incident unless my computer is freaking out, but I guess I will check back in and update if I'm able to get it working.  Prior to this latest issue, everything on the side had been working better than ever and I had been enjoying placing single, multi, and even prop bets without any problems.  Hopefully I'm back to having fun again soon.

Another loss for Lakers, things are not looking great at all. I get that Lebron is missing and Lebron is by far their best player no matter how old he is, but they built a team around Lebron that keeps on losing once again. Meaning if Lebron left the team today then Lakers will become a bad team once again. This is why I believe that we should not be considering Lakers to be a bad team like that right now and should pressure them or at least expect them to be better even without Lebron.

Otherwise this is another team Lebron carried for a ring if it ever happens and at this point I do not expect that much from him. They either fix themselves and get better and find a good way, or they are going to end up being so much worse when it is playoff time.

I have no doubt that the Lakers can play better with or without Lebron, but it looks like they still need time to improve their team chemistry. I guess the Lakers' offense and defense on the court will change a lot throughout the season. Maybe they will even surprise us in the playoffs if their key players are healthy.

It was interesting that Demar Derozan decided to come out and say that he had a sign and trade deal finished with the Lakers in August, but they decided to get Russell Westbrook instead.  Given how each of them have performed this season so far, it seemed like Demar was taking the opportunity to twist the knife a little bit about the Lakers making the wrong choice.

Lots of speculation about John Wall suddenly.  It's looking like the Rockets might end up dumping him off to whoever wants to deal with him.  I'm curious what's going to happen to him once his contract is over.  Who knows though, if Chris Paul could get an extension...
6885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Staples Center to be renamed Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day!! on: November 19, 2021, 12:05:45 AM
The funny thing is that Los Angeles Lakers fans are absolutely NOT happy about this name change.

Not only fans, but also famous people like Kobe Bryant's wife or LA Clippers player Paul George, who consider it a move that will in some way take away the history that is directly related to the name that the center had for many years. People are sentimentally attached to these things and find it hard when someone sells the name of a sports arena or football stadium, and I believe many will be disappointed with this move. But no one asked the fans what they thought about it, only money matters and there is a lot of it here.

Even the players aren't happy about it.  Russell Westbrook joked that they will soon call it "Crip Arena" in what I can only assume is a misguided attempt at humor or maybe he knows something about satoshi that the rest of us don't.  Smiley

https://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/story/2021-11-17/lakers-russell-westbrook-jokes-about-staples-center-being-called-crip-arena

This whole brands on buildings and jerseys isn't anything new.  I remember being pissed off when Candlestick Park became 3com park.  That's when I sort of stopped thinking of manmade buildings as having their own identities.  Who knows, maybe someday the Grand Canyon will be called Amazon View or iCanyon.

Hey tritonus. Indeed I am still around here. The beauty of being passionate about something is that you can?t be torn away from it. Smiley Good luck with your sale and let me know if there?s anything I can do to assist you in the process.

Ah good, yes I'll come back to your service once I want to start the auction. What are your fees?

I remember using your service with an old account of mine, sold some mining hardware in 2014 😊.

Still the same 1% as the last time you used me probably and welcome back.  Smiley
You should also leave feedback once you make deals on this forum so that you can easily find and point to past deals.  This will help ease concern amongst buyers.

Sorry, my initial response was rude. The topic of valuations has come up many times over the years and this forum is the only place on earth where coin collectors discuss value in terms of multiples of face value. It’s weird and it never made sense. Do it if you like but… it doesn’t make sense!

IMO with fingerprints on it, the auction would be better off starting at 0.1 BTC, but I’ll be watching with interest to see how this goes regardless

You mean to tell me 1 BTC does not equal 1 BTC and the collector's value of these coins is based in USD?  Be careful, I've gotten negative trust feedback from ibminer for even suggesting such a thing.

I wouldn't start the auction at 0.1 BTC.  I think the last 2 of these coins I sold (somewhat recently) went for between 0.27-0.31 BTC if memory serves correctly.
6887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul on: November 18, 2021, 09:12:14 PM
Like I said above, I think it's going to be win-win for Jake Paul whatever the outcome just as long as he doesn't get knocked out in the first couple of rounds.

Cant disagree. What ever Jake do, people would "eat it". He can just poop and people would buy PPV with that. But I would prefer if Jake would fight either another clown (close to boxing guy) or a keep on trolling UFC by beating their former fighters.

Btw, Shaquille O'Neal does boxing Cheesy Or Jake Paul should have fought Bryce Hall, making it new Youtube vs Tik Tok chapter.

This is the first time he's squaring up against a real boxer who isn't retired.  Honestly, this is the make or break moment for Jake Paul.  Either he wins and proves that he can compete at a high level professionally in the boxing ring, or he loses to the younger brother of a prize fighter and everyone can say that this gimmick is behind us.  Personally, I'm a bit scared for the sport of boxing if he wins.  It would be like if Justin Bieber decided he wanted to play in the NBA and then start breaking people's ankles on the court.  You might pause for a minute and wonder if those pros are really as good as we're led to believe...  That's basically how I'm viewing this Paul brothers entry into boxing.
6888  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Recent Drop Below $60K Is Not Worrisome, Analyst Says on: November 18, 2021, 04:27:26 AM
I don't think it's worrying either.  What would be worrying is if we went straight up with no corrections.  Then all the gains would be off the back of leverage and the entire thing could crumble at any moment.  I'm sure we'll hit this point, but I'd like to see it happen with a massive bubble, not a little blip.  That's why analysts say we're on firmer footing than we were the first time it hit $60K.  This time those positions have been tested a few times and withstood the leverage calls.  The more we see drops followed by new highs, the better.

After Golden State put on a show last night I’m looking forward to some more quality NBA basketball tonight. The Lakers are playing the Bucks on ESPN, so it’ll be one to watch. Looks like still no LeBron after missing 7 games as he is still listed day to day and no update on Nunn’s situation. Should be an easy win for the Bucks, but we’ll see…

The Lakers are a hot mess so I wouldn't bet on them winning. Westbrook is inefficient and everyone else is way past their prime since all the young talent got traded. Not a great look for them.

I think they have the talent to win, they just aren't be utilized well.  Howard should be starting and getting more minutes.  Monk shouldn't be taking shots down the stretch.  Westbrook needs to be allowed to do what he does and needs something to do when he isn't doing what he does...  Once LeBron and Nunn come back there had better be some changes or else the coach will be long gone...

Same with the Nets.  Their coach is not utilizing their guys correctly at all.  Aldridge didn't even play the first half last night against the Warriors when they needed him to make a size mismatch.  Terrible coaching.

Any update on when these bad boys will be shipping out to customers? I thought last I heard it was November so I’m just curious if we’re getting close or if I misunderstood something. Really hoping to have these up and running before the end of the year. It’s starting to get cold outside so it’s either this or the fireplace. Would rather stack sats then burn wood.  Smiley

Forum administrators read the messages you send to other users.

I sent a private message to another user about deleted posts and minutes later several dozen of my posts were deleted by the 'administrator'.

Be careful with any private messages you send on this forum.

If you think the forum administrators are bad, wait until you learn about the NSA… Never think anything you do online is private or secret. It’s not. Government just doesn’t have the time or manpower yet to punish everyone for their activity. I suspect AI will change this in the future, but for now enjoy the freedom that strength in numbers provides and stop whining about the obvious.

Not so many matches to pick from today, I'm staying clear of the Brooklyn Nets vs Golden State Warriors game, even though that's the game I'll tune into.

That's no fun.  I threw down a few small ones to keep it interesting.

Nets & over 222.5 total score
Over 222.5 total score
Warriors+5.5
Wiggins over 1.5 steals
Wiggins over 1.5 assists
Steph over 4.5 3s made
Durant over 27.5 points
Harden over 17.5 assists+rebounds
Harden double-double
Aldridge over 5.5 rebounds

Also threw a parlay for the Jazz and Clippers.

Nothing big at stake, but if you're going to watch a few hours of basketball you might as well give yourself some extra motivation to pay attention.  Smiley

Edit: not my night lol
6895  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: November 16, 2021, 09:32:54 PM

Just wanted to share a project I have been working on.  The stand is designed and printed by me.  For air flow I have the radiator fan blowing down onto the miners and a fan on the back blowing across the miners.  Everything is powered by a 700w server power supply from Parallel Miners.  I am using the Alphacool MCX ram water blocks to cool the ASIC chips.  The water block clamp was designed and printed by me.  I am using a Raspberry Pi4 with 8gig Ram running 64bit Ubuntu Mate.  I have ordered another one of sidehack's USB hubs and plan to add either my 6 2Pacs or some more Newpac's if I can get them.  I am able to run the fans at a low RPM so the rig is very quite.

The hottest temp I can find on the back of 3 CompacF's is between 35c & 39c.
The hottest temp I can find on the back of the 6 Newpac's is between 39c & 43c.
None of the miner boards are hot to the touch.

...

I sure hope sidehack does another batch of the CompacF's.  I would love to get some more of them.

Thank you sidehack for the work that you do.

Wow.  This is awesome!  The amount of work that you put into this is admirable.  With some sexy lighting that would be an amazing functional display piece.  How are the noise levels with that radiator fan?  Is it basically quiet?  What amounts are you generating with that?

I must say, you don't see people doing cool things like this with waterblocks very often.  Maybe you could get working on a submersible version next to really push those things to the limit.  Smiley  Thanks for sharing this.  Great work.
6896  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: November 16, 2021, 09:24:37 PM
I, however, would suggest that the channel gets advertised more properly in the forum, maybe one of the designated ad-slots that we all see on each thread could have a link to the youtube channel when videos roll by? Also like small giveaways to the communities to keep them involved? omg I actually cant wait for the first proper-proper-proper video to be released.

I'm not sure spending money on advertising here is the way to go for such a small operation.  I assumed the intent of this channel was to reach a new audience and bring them to our playground.  Considering it's basically a promotional tool for the forum, maybe considering asking for something like a grant and free advertising from bitcointalk would be a better approach.

I also wouldn't mind donating a little something to the cause if they were giving away items to viewers of the channel.  Maybe some silver and/or NFTs.  Hell, I'd go as far as to do the coding for an NFT project if you wanted to give away your own NFTs.  Although maybe it would be best to wait for Bitcoin's infrastructure to catch up on that front before doing so.
6897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 16, 2021, 09:14:10 PM
I get that people are crazy about the Bulls start because it came out nowhere at all, but we should also remember that last year Warriors finished the season with 39-33 and now they are going 11-2 which is a great start. Those are the two that I would not be sure about which one is better, bucks start is not impressive at all, unless you mean the otherwise because it definitely looks shocking to see last champions doing so badly.

Bulls looking good and I am not denying that but Warriors moved from 9th on west to becoming a championship level team, that difference is huge and to consider that Klay will be added to this makes it even more impressive.

As a Bulls fan I can tell you this much, we have an exciting team with several legit scorers now, namely with DeRozan who's been unreal and playing at an all-star level, but I don't think any of us here in Chicago have any delusions of them being a Championship team.  The Warriors on the other hand who've gotten off to this great start without the second best shooter in the game in Klay Thompson, are legit.  Not sure if championship legit but a better shot than the bulls have.

The Bulls definitely had the best offseason of any team in the NBA.  I really like the young talent they have and Derozan has been playing better than I can remember him ever playing...  I think they're right up there with the Bucks as a second tier eastern team behind the Nets.

All eyes on the Warriors vs Nets game tonight though.  There is also a giveaway going on for this game on Twitter where you can guess the final score and the closest wins a free NFT.  Not a bad way to get your foot in the NFT door.  Smiley

Looking at tomorrow’s games I see that the Warriors are facing off against the Nets on TNT. I’m going to have to watch that one. A shame that they’ll be missing a little bit of star power with no Klay yet and Kyrie still not having figured out how to get back on the court. Says something about both teams that they’re still full of all stars.
6899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 16, 2021, 06:02:23 AM
That Bulls vs Lakers game looked like one hell of a game. Lonzo shot the lights out with one of his best games and Derozan was unstoppable. The Lakers again looked average and just couldn’t compete with the Bulls shooting as everything was going in for them. Nice to see a moment between LeBron and Caruso, but Lakers fans definitely are ready to see the King back on the floor.

Apple getting into crypto seems a little bit inevitable at this point. I’m just curious how they will implement it in their wallet app. If they implemented a decent lightning experience it could be enough to get me to give it a shot. Even announcing accepting it for their phones and computers would be pretty massive news. I think Tim Cook would likely wait at least a quarter after announcing his investment before doing implementing something like that.
