Yes, cities with "gun control" have more crimes than suburbs without.

I can't believe in this day and age we allow people to have knives.

If you are referring to the knife trend in the UK, it is ILLEGAL, kids in gangs on bad estates have them anyway. Obviously they'd love to have guns like in the USA, but fortunately it's simply not available to them. Thank goodness for that I say.  The police confiscate these knives at every opportunity and regular kids certainly don't have them. It's illegal to buy dangerous knives, so such knives are home made.

Still, the average person cannot do anywhere near as much damage with a knife as they can with a gun.

You're right. With a knife, they can do more.

The right to self-defense preexisted the U.S. Constitution, written language, and even homo sapiens. Do you love to torture animals after you've declawed them, ripped out their teeth, and excised their defensive noxious/poisonous secretion glands? Fuck you for wanting innocents to be defenseless.

Found some stats that might be enlightening...

US Violent Crime Rate: 475 per 100,000 citizens
(Year: 2003 http://www.ucrdatatool.gov/Search/Crime/Crime.cfm )

UK Violent Crime Rate: 4,100 per 100,000 citizens
(Year: 2003 http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/pdfs04/rdsolr1804.pdf )

my rough estimate says the media portrays the opposite

or maybe in the UK they would portray more violent crimes of their homeland of course

Tourism good, emigration bad.

I checked the buyer on WoT and he's not in there yet.

Thanks for the site regardless.

To paraphrase Penn Jillette from one of the early episodes of Penn's Sunday School, I believe:
There isn't "evil", there is WRONG. Do so-called "evil" people think to themselves, "oh, I'm going to do some evil shit today!". No. Everybody does what they believe to be correct in their own minds, even if it is anywhere from self-harm to tyranny/terrorism to genocide. Their beliefs are WRONG. Calling people "evil" ascribes a mystical explanation to why they do the WRONG things, and lessens their responsibility. Aggression upon others is WRONG. The aggressor's actions are not out of their control, they are not puppets of some almighty being called "Satan" or "God/Allah/whatever", they are 100% responsible. If someone is aggressing, that is WRONG, and you stop them.

Change email address [to my proper email]

    Email address already in use!

Checked spam folder (I do this at regular intervals anyway to catch anything before it gets purged automatically). 2 messages from communication@localbitcoins.com, which I just marked as not spam. The first and only two I've ever received. However, they were both from the same user regarding a single ad yesterday, and I still have another response to another ad from another user that's showing on the site created yesterday, that hasn't been received by email at all, not even in the spam folder.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but how do you leave a rating for someone who hasn't used the LocalBitcoins escrow? I just sent directly to a cash-in-hand buyer's address, but see no option for feedback, just a cancel deal button and send message box.

There is not currently a way to leave feedback without using escrow.

that really sucks.
really, really.

Also not getting notified by email when ads are replied to.

Yep, if that's true, it's crystal clear there was no intent to actually kill. Who the fuck is able to chop someone (who isn't bound by restraints) to death with a knife? Nobody. If he had a long blade he could chop limbs off...

Don't worry everyone else in the civilised world agrees with you. It's just a certain type of American who believe that "the right to bear arms" or whatever trumps absolutely everything else.

The majority of Americans believe that "the right to bear arms" trumps laws written by criminals, to do nothing BUT protect criminals in their line of work. Gun control is criminal occupational safety. Read some non-redacted history books if your government hasn't burned them all.

There's a reason why the Holocaust didn't start, or reach, the U.S. Unfortunately the gun control laws which enabled it have been imported here, so there could easily be genocide in Chicago, NYC, or DC, not to mention the worst part of a minority of states.

Nuclear warheads are not arms, nor in any way covered by the right to self-defense. Genocide, yes.
Maybe not self defense, no. But if you have to use it, you're probably fucked anyway.

Of course, they'd be great for asteroid mining.

Or maybe planetary defense. I almost hope an asteroid were on a collision course with earth that astrophysicists in every nuclear country could agree upon, so that all the nukes on earth can be retrofitted for space and fired out of the atmosphere all at once at it.
