6921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin die, no more cryptos can alive. on: February 24, 2018, 11:13:58 PM
I know we are still at a start of cryptocurrencies, but bitcoin is growing with lightning speed right now and some banks already see it as a potential threat.
There has been a lot of accusations form banks, that bitcoin is perfect for money laundering and is used for supporting crime.
I think they can do a lot of harm to bitcoin market and they will eventually start with harsh campaign against it.
Referring to the above ascertion, bitcoin will not die a natural death because other cryptos depend on it.

Those accusations are not proven though, but its obvious that banks really hates bitcoin because they know they are eliminated as middle man, meaning the potential profit is already lost when people starts to patronized bitcoin more than banks.

They have been attacking it ever since, I hope you do remember Jamie Dimon.

However, bitcoin is resilient to such attacks, and the more they bashed it, the more bitcoin become stronger overtime. I think altcoins though will survived even if bitcoin dies. But technically bitcoin will not die on the contrary it will continue to grow more as people all over the globe will find it suitable whether to keep their wealth, as an investment or for doing micro payments.
6922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 years and no country has approved Bitcoin ?? on: February 24, 2018, 09:49:46 PM
Bitcoin was launched in 2007. It's 10 years and still no country has approved Bitcoin ??   Huh

and in 2018, 2nd richest man "Warren Buffet" said "bitcoin will end up badly"

I'm sure that someone already answered  Japan already. If the OP is not aware, Japan has already legalizes bitcoin since April of last year. And then followed by Australia in July. And then there's Belarus, Singapore, South Korea and Switzerland who is very friendly to crypto specially bitcoin.

Why are you listening to WB? He is old and a traditional investor? He doesn't know about how crypto's work. We all know that he is rich because of his investments, but crypto is different.

So let me re-phrase your question,

Why is bitcoin still here despite all the negativity that its getting from the likes of WB, Jamie Dimon and other nations who are against it?
6923  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is Dropping, and Experts Can't Agree Why on: February 24, 2018, 09:24:11 PM
Yes, I definitely agree that we cannot achieved the exponentially growth that we have seen in previous years specially the craziness and irrational buyers in the last quarter of 2017. But it doesn't mean that bitcoin cannot go up and reaches all-time-highs. This time with so many factors pulling the price (governments regulations, banks anti-bitcoin sentiments), we can still grow but don't expect something dramatic this year.

That's why I don't put high expectations for this year and I seriously doubt the $100K target that so many of us would love to see at the end of the year. $20K-$40K would be 'OK' price for me.
6924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful with the pump channel !!! on: February 22, 2018, 09:46:32 PM
Some of you may have noticed this, That there are certain individuals who deliberately create a kind of pump channel in Telegram, Whatsapp etc. which aims to help people earn profit but the reality is very different.

I have tried to follow the pump channel and want to see what the channel activity looks like. Before the pump to a certain coin, will appear such a channel announcement, the time of pump, type of pump, target pump and coin to be in the pump is still a secret. It aims for channel members to prepare some money to buy. After the coin announced, the pump drama also starts with a target percentage.

the buying wall is starting to look, and the channel members are busy putting up buy orders on top of the created wall and when the target is reached, the buying wall is released and changes to the selling process which causes the price to come back down.

The question is:
- does this channel only use members to help pump prices?
- If they target a 15% increase, would they sell it when the target is reached?
- Is there any guarantee that they do not make a purchase of the coins to be collected first before announcing it.

- I think 90% used only members to help pump the prices. But most senior members can used the trading trollbox as well to announce that's why some can ride the waves.

- I don't think that most of them are selling at their target price. Most seasoned members would exit early at around 10%

- There's no guarantee. What I noticed though is the premium members had already purchase a lot of coins prior to the actual pump that's why they do exit early. And what's left are those newbies who thinks that they can earn huge amount bit in reality they won't even get close to the targeted profit.
6925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee down to $0.11! SegWit works! on: February 22, 2018, 09:01:20 PM
Segwit usage is still low. It is more likely that transaction volume has dropped because the crash scared a lot of people away.

This. And it looks like the network spam stopped as well. Maybe its no longer profitable or maybe they got tired of doing it. Plus I think there are exchanges that are batching their withdrawals like Coinbase that's why the mempool are not that clogged anymore.

And so the argument that the cost of bitcoin tx fees are high and very slow are out of the question now. But I'm sure that they will always find some holes to attack bitcoin again.

Quote
Which fee should I use?
The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 20 satoshis/byte, shown in green at the top.
For the median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 4,520 satoshis.

6926  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is going on? on: February 22, 2018, 08:46:51 PM
How are the markets a few near day? Can anybody tell me? I have been in the market for 1 month and been advised to buy BTC and ETH, but I do not understand why in coinmarketcap all coin including coin top also fell continuously breaking through the bottom. Please reassure me: ((  Cry Cry Cry
We can see that bitcoin prices are suffering from bad news continuously, bitcoin prices despite the recent recovery has been slightly but to the moment is falling sharply due to the bad news from Japan. I think that at the present time we should wait to see how the price of bitcoin can be reduced and buy, not trade at this time.

Sorry I was not aware of any bad news coming from Japan, care to share the link?

But its really painful to see bitcoin sliding again after enjoying as high as $11800 just a couple of days ago. Maybe the bad news from Japan that you are saying are really putting the pressure on the price.

But I see the price picking up again and back to $10K because it go down a bit below it so its a good sign that there are buyers out there and the $10K resistance is back and going strong.

I'll still be cautious though, we have been in this wild price swing that's its better to really just hold on it as long as you can.
6927  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I have made calculator [Trading] on: February 22, 2018, 08:19:58 PM
Looks promising but I noticed just a few things:

1. Airdrops - Looks like you put your referral links in there.  Grin
2. Video - it was too small. Does it have audio? I put my speaker 100% and I can't hear a single thing.
3. What's your algo for calculating profit/loss?

There are other calculators out there, What made you think that we are going to used yours? Any advantage?

Good luck to your project though.
6928  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How important are ICO advisors? on: February 22, 2018, 07:46:13 PM
When most people evaluate ICOs, they consider the advisors.  However, most are looking for big names in the crypto sphere.  In my opinion, it's more important to look for industry experts outside of crypto.  The goal of most blockchain projects is to gain usage and adoption in the real world, and expert advisors with credentials in major industries open doors to new markets.  At the end of the day, when projects exhaust their ICO funds, they must earn revenues.  What do you think?

I think they are very helpful but you still need to do your homework and do your due diligence if you really want to invest in a certain ICOs. But I don't know though if experts outside of crypto would be helpful. The only experts that I can consider to be helpful are those who really know their stuff. So I have to disagree looking at experts outside the cryptosphere.

There are a lot of in deep experts out there and most of them have really a good background and experience that you have to consider what they have to say.

6929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers are active these days. on: February 22, 2018, 06:57:18 PM
They are plain criminals in my opinion. They have been attracted in crypto because of the money. So I don't like them to be called hackers, criminal is the best way to describe them. They are no different from those person who will put a gun on your head to get your private keys which happened recently.

That's why we need to be very vigilant otherwise your funds will be gone, stolen by this criminals. Its really scary though, and there's so little things that we can do to protect ourselves. Exchanges, personal addresses are not safe anymore. So just be very careful and stay one step ahead of them by having your private keys secured by a strong passwords.
6930  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin recovery on: February 21, 2018, 06:13:09 PM
Good afternoon! Friends, do you think bitcoin has recovered and will it go up in March?

It's not entirely recovered, there's still a long way to go for that. It's dipped 10-15% the last day or so but that's probably just because it was facing a lot of resistance at 12k. The same sort of thing happened with 8, 9 and 10k but each time it returned to break the resistance.

We haven't broken $12K yet and its looks like a big wall in front of us. We will reach as high as $117xx and then it will goes and dip again. I have noticed this pattern in the last couple of days, but I do hope that it will be finally surpass at the end of the month.  So its going to be a tough.

So its really hard to say what will be the price but eventually we can catch up and settled around March. Maybe we could get around the are of $12K-$15K.
6931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poland’s Central Bank Secretly Paid Youtubers to Slander Cryptos on: February 18, 2018, 07:51:27 PM
This is another example that explains the reason for the appearance of false negative information about the crypto currency, when bitcoin recently dropped to 6,000 dollars and it was obvious that the emergence of such negative information is not accidental, that the flow of it is organized by somebody and skillfully directed. Now it is obvious that banks took part in this, and not only Polish ones. Banks, of course, lose their profits because of the appearance of the crypto currency, and therefore are ready to finance a campaign to form a negative image of the population in the population. However, as we see, nothing happens to bankers. The bitcoin grows well over the past two weeks and it seems it will continue to grow.

I agree. I myself was surprise as to how social media turns anti bitcoin. So there are governments and banks willing to pay to spread false news and fear amongst crypto investors that's why the price suddenly plummeted.

Yes, it will continue to grow, but expect more attacks from banks as well. Those paid schills are really doing a good job to cast doubts in bitcoin and cryptos. You will also noticed around the forum that there are a lot of newbies also spreading likes that bitcoin will go to 0 or will die. Too many doom sayers.

6933  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ebay and Litecoin coming together ? on: February 12, 2018, 10:26:50 PM
A friend of mine suggested me that this is a good time to buy litecoin. I asked him why and he replied like this.

"In the year 2020 the deal through Ebay and Paypal will finish and Litecoin creators are talking with Ebay in order to have as a payment method something called Litpay based on Litecoin"

Before I buy some Litecoin for long time holding thought to ask here first as without verifying the news I don't think will be a good move.

Well, I always believed that Litecoin has really a good potential. Been holding some on my wallet but I dumped a few during its peaked. I'm not really sure though about the news, but a have friend who invested around $2K on Litecoin, when I asked why, he just said that he had a hunch that it will grow overtime.  Grin

That is an interesting advice by your friend and seems to have substance. I researched a bit and found an article about an interview  with senior vice president from eBay and yahoo finance here:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ebay-seriously-considering-accepting-bitcoin-164410989.html
But that was before the big drop and was not limited to litecoin.

Let's see how it goes. It looks very interesting. And if they decided to push through with the idea, then I'm sure Litecoin will take off and go to the moon. Like I said, I still have some in a trading exchange and I just check the price regularly and not selling it at the future.
6934  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-11]Iceland to use more energy mining bitcoin than powering its homes on: February 12, 2018, 10:09:41 PM
Obviously, Iceland, like in other paradises for mining; I can not see any problem with energy, not at least if it did not affect directly with prices or other things to people.

Anyway if people think this is a scandal, just wait a few years more and you will see how this will increased a lot...: P

Agree. I think Iceland is suitable for mining, abundance of electric geothermal energy, weather is cold and there are a lot of isolated places that they can put up a farm, away from the cities.

As for using more energy to bitcoin mining, it has something to do with the population. Maybe there are really less people living in the country that's why they only spend less energy.

I'm sure they have made research and studies before implementing the bitcoin farms. If the government deems it will bring more harm than good then the idea will not put into reality.
6935  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is recovering on: February 12, 2018, 09:39:05 PM
Bitcoin is not yet recovering in my opinion because if bitcoin is recovering then it should be already more than 10,000 usd but as we can see that the price of bitcoin is still lower than that so for me, bitcoin is still not recovering and still undergoing from a bear market and i hope that the price should go 10,000 usd or more in the next couple of months.

Yes, for me this bitcoin has not fully recovered from the market crashed (60%). Just last week alone, everyone though and breath a sigh of relief because bitcoin bounce back from $6K, however, we went into another multiple dips, but not that significant though but we are still having a hard time breaking the $9K barrier.

For me, to say that we are out of the woods, we should at least see a stable growth and reaches $10K again. Right now there's still that sentiments of wait and see. Investors are very skeptics and reluctant, they wanted to be sure that everything has settled as far as government crackdowns and heavy regulations. Its gonna be a long road ahead, but eventually we will get to $10K and everyone can chillax by then.
6936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100 Powerful people from Blockchain on: February 12, 2018, 09:09:17 PM
Yes, this is a great list. But I would put Satoshi as #1 and Buterin at #2.

But I have to agree that Johm McAfee should not be in the top 10. He just entered the picture recently, and he is more of a media influencer based on his twitter coins of the day.  Grin

Also I think the Winklevoss Twins should be rank higher.

How about Tim Draper? https://twitter.com/TimDraper or

Juthica Chou of LedgerX?

But still this is really a impressive list and sMerit is on the way bro.  Grin

6937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: MyCrypto or MyEtherWallet on: February 12, 2018, 08:42:28 PM
Seems like the deal gone bad between the heads of MyEtherWallet. Would you switch to MyCrypto or stick to MEW?

If you are not aware of the situation, read this https://cointelegraph.com/news/wallet-wars-myetherwallet-developer-goes-solo-to-launch-mycrypto

Basically, these two wallets are almost the same. They have features that every user can enjoy. But for me, I would choose my ether walket because its the most common wallet being used in bounties. It is already proven its capacity when in terms of serving people for their coins. Ether wallet for me is easier to use and accesse.

Of course they will be the same because MyCrypto was born out of MyEtherWallet. The question what is MyCrypto can offer that MyEtherWallet doesn't have?

I also question the integrity and trust of the owners or developers of the new wallet, why the hell did they changed the twitter name? Are you going to trust someone with that kind of attitude? What is the intention behind the switching?

Its really early to tell, but its better to stick with MEW which has gain the trust and the best wallet for holding our ERC-20 based tokens against a new wallet that we don't know anything as of it except that they used to be part of MEW.
6938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange or Wallet? on: February 12, 2018, 08:20:14 PM
I have a question.

What is better? To keep your coins on some Exchange site or to open wallets for each coin?

I would like to hear some advice.  What are pros & cons of each option?

Thanks

It boils down to how much money to you have in an exchange. If the amount is huge so its better to store it to a wallet that you have control of the private keys. In an event of a hack in a trading platform, your money will be gone 100%. I advise just put enough money on a exchange for your trading activity and transfer most of your money in a secured wallet you own.

I'm sure that you heard about hacks in a exchanges and people bitching out that they lost a lot. Well, let that be a lesson for all of us. I say do not put everything on a trading platform. Don't be another statistics on the growing number of people losing money in a exchange because it was stolen by a hacker.
6939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are these predictions Accurate? on: February 12, 2018, 07:59:06 PM

I didn't checked the link but if your question about the accuracy, no one can accurate predict the price movement in my opinion. Some even says that TA is not applicable to crypto market so I doubt that they can see or predict it 100%.

If I were in your shoes, would rather study the market myself, do my own research and homework before investing on anything. I can't say they are scam, but I'm sure they are trying to make money here.

I do not believe in predictions, i follow fundamental and technical analysis only but even with being expert at FA and TA you cannot be right 100% of the time. So nothing can be 100% true in the markets.

Exactly, TA can be used as a guide, but its nowhere accurate. The market is very volatile and unstable and the balance can go either way, any direction in an instant.

Much better to stick with the old but reliable MEW. Its been the number 1 choice for most of us members because its really easy to used. Even a newbie can navigate and create a wallet in a breeze. Only problem is that there's too much hack resulting of thousands or even millions lost. But that's another story.

Its really a ugly split between the 2 founders. Ah, when greed takes over even the best of friends will go on their separate way. Apparently there is an ongoing lawsuit between them, so this divorce is really gonna be ugly.

Quote
Alas, for reasons I cannot delve into here, our partnership had to end. During the transition yesterday, however, MEW’s Twitter account was switched from @myetherwallet to @mycrypto, and tens of thousands of MEW followers were left scratching their heads.

Truly yours,
Kosala H.
kvhnuke

Kosala is one of  the founders, So if MyCrypto hijacked or switched the Twitter handle of MEW, this dic move doesn't look good at the eyes of the community. Maybe next they will hijack Ethereum inside the MyCrypto wallet.
