6921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Sending Bitcoin Cash to Bittrex or YoBit on: August 02, 2017, 10:13:16 PM
I would hold off for a while.
I know Bittrex do have "maintenance" moments for all currencies
this is just procedure and is usually short term.
6922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest regrets in cryptocurrency? on: August 02, 2017, 10:01:13 PM
".....If I knew then what I now now!"

I should have payed more attention to my brother when he was telling
me about Bitcoin many years ago and should have bought a few . . .

But its not something to dwell on, it cannot be changed.
6923  Other / Meta / Re: WHY IS EVERYONE ALWAYS YELLING WHEN OPENING A TOPIC? on: August 02, 2017, 09:58:15 PM
I think a lot of it has to do with trying to get the thread
noticed among the very busy traffic here on BITCOINTALK
6924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Exodus and BCH on: August 02, 2017, 09:52:15 PM
Hello all exodus users!

I have just learned that Exodus is not supporting Bitcoin Cash
but users will be able to claim their BCH by exporting their private keys.

So im wondering are you going to claim them?

Maybe you have already, was the process easy?
6925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] DIMCOIN The Future Of Equity on the Blockchain (FULL) on: August 01, 2017, 10:13:46 PM
This sounds great, people investing in dimcoin
And also getting their tokens on schedule.
Very promising.
6926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out into traditional banking system on: July 31, 2017, 09:42:36 AM
It really depends on the country and what they seek tax on?
are there thresholds as to what is allowed tax exempt?
are the proceeds of online gambling taxable?

I think there are possibly workarounds but it depends on the above!

6927  Economy / Services / Re: DIMCOIN Signature Campaign on: July 31, 2017, 09:25:28 AM

6928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Critique my Long Term Portfolio I'm putting together on: July 30, 2017, 10:01:52 PM
Hello folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I was hoping some of you folks would chime in on my portfolio. I've tucked away 5k that I was going to use on some index funds but crypto at the moment looks very enticing. I don't plan on touching these coins for at least 3+ years. Whether my investment is decimated due to a bubble popping or it triples a year from now, ill be holding.

My portfolio:

Ethereum (ETH)-2k
Bitcoin (BTC)-1.5k
Litecoin (LTC)-300
Monero (XMR)-300
Ripple (XRP)- 200
Golem (GNT)-200

What do you guys think?  I may not be driving a lambo or vacationing to the moon with this portfolio but i'll be happy if im driving a lexus and vacationing to australia  Grin\\

its a fairly safe and conservative spread [if you can apply those two descriptions to crypto?]
Personally I would loose the Ripple and possibly add SIA or EOS.
But of course everyone will suggest the crypto they personally like.
6929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whts more important? Tech used in making the coin or the project behind it? on: July 30, 2017, 09:18:53 PM
You need both.  There's alot of coins with good tech that never got off the ground because of bad (or non-existent) marketing.  The sad part is that those coins have all been superseded by newer coins with better tech.

Actually thats a good point, MARKETING is the key.
Unless an idea or creation is exposed to potential investors etc...  Its not going to go anywhere
6930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whts more important? Tech used in making the coin or the project behind it? on: July 30, 2017, 08:56:00 PM
is it the tech (specs of the coin) that matters or the projects (google, amazon, apple etc)?

for me its the specs of the coin which is firstly important.
if the specs allow the coin to provide viable functions
which provide solutions to real world problems and
requirements, then its value will follow as will its adoption
6931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT mathematically limited to twenty one million bitcoins on: July 28, 2017, 02:15:46 PM
would there be a need to raise the limit from 21,000,000?

currently 0.0000020 is equal to approximately $0.01c
bitcoin would have to quadruple [i think] in value before a raise in cap?

its a pity that 0.00000001 is not called 1BTC
6932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Right way to get free BTC on 1st August!? on: July 28, 2017, 02:01:03 PM
That sounds feasable but I wouldnt have first hand knowledge.
This will be my first FORKing  Grin experience.

I was planning on holding both BTC and BCC on a short term
basis to see how they play out against each other, thats kind
of a win-win scenario
6933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDT and Omni blockchains coins during the bitcoin fork ? on: July 28, 2017, 12:41:47 PM

6934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex.com gona delist LTC !!! on: July 28, 2017, 11:54:43 AM

LTC is VERY Healthy
6935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is everyone feeling going into Aug 1? on: July 28, 2017, 10:12:53 AM
if everyone has secured their bitcoin as per all the advice on this forum there will not be a problem.
Yes the price MAY fall and/or it MAY rise but 1 BTC will still be 1BTC and longterm the value will be healthy.

do you all remember the issue with the Winklevoss brothers seeking ETF for Bitcoin and when the
SEC rejected it in March? remember how we were told that the price would fall drastically after the decision?

what happened?
6936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to find lost bitcoins? on: July 28, 2017, 09:05:46 AM
I believe many of the bitcoins that were lost is due to users throwing away their hard drive with bitcoins stored inside during the early stages of bitcoin, as the price of bitcoins are just a few cents in the past, people who owned bitcoins don't treat it as an important assets at that time, so the chances to recover lost bitcoins is very low.

I was one of those people who experienced it, at that time I didn't know about trezor and other hardwallet and I forgot to back up my private key. I still remember it was the rainy season and there was a frequent blackout that caused my cpu to be damaged and irreparable. I'm very disappointed and had stopped online for 3 years, I deeply regret the bitcoin I collect disappeared. There is no other way to restore it.

oh man that is horrendous!
do you mind me asking how many bitcoins you lost,
I'll bet you tried everything to try and restore them?
I wonder how many others lost their coins over time?

Is there any way of knowing how many are lost ? [probably not]
6937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to find lost bitcoins? on: July 27, 2017, 09:34:27 PM
I have to say this is a very interesting thread
with lots of theories about values and recovery
but I would imagine that in the case of paper wallets
the are probably irretrievable but possibly in the future
as computing gets more and more powerful it may be possible
to recover lost coins.

Imagine the amount of times particularly in the early days
of BTC when people had them stored and decided to
format or throw away hard-drives etc. thinking that BTC
was just a fad and wasnt going anywhere . . .

My Dad always said "never throw anything away, you'll
never know when you might need it"  Grin
6938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So much bad news. When will it end ? on: July 27, 2017, 08:59:31 PM
I dont think anything negative has happened yet in bitcoin
we are experiencing a time of turbulance and another chapter
in the Bitcoin story.
Just look to a number of weeks ago when there was nothing
but positive news, there has to be balance with what many
perceive as negative news.
6939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Before August 1, and after August 1. on: July 26, 2017, 07:34:20 PM
i agree with the above but not necessarily the stupid part
I would say inexperienced and possibly people selling higher
than they think they can buy back again at a lower price
which can lead to a feeding frenzy  Grin
6940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feedback on a game idea. on: July 26, 2017, 04:33:05 PM
First thing I thought after reading the thread title

"Gambling"

But this is a bit refreshing, nice idea and if properly
developed could be quite popular.

I like the idea of trading crypto tokens to advance
in the game.

I left feedback and submitted my e-mail for updates etc.  Wink

good luck
