701  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer re-engineering on: June 02, 2016, 04:13:22 PM
Can old Antminers be re-engineered and designed to use these new 14nm chips by BW?
And do BITMAIN ever sell their chips?
If you mean redesigned to reuse the main heatsinks/frame layout and possibly the controller boards, yes. It entails just making new hashboards to fit the heatsinks. This is along the lines for what Sidehack thinking of doing to begin with. The old RasPi boards from s1 and s3's might not be handle the data throughput but looks like a BeagleBone as used on the s5/7/9 can.

Which comes back to the problem of getting the chips themselves....

And I should add sidehack and novak did a great job on the compac's.  I bought them and they still work today.   So I'm not doubting his ability when I say I don't think there will be upgrade kit's.  Its been since S1 to S3 since last upgrade kit on Bitmain... so quite a while.  I think it will remain buying new gear vs upgrading.

I just think getting chips is very hard.  Espically when you go to current gen chips, and next gen.  I may be surprised by someone getting a source on chips.... but I think it's a tough road to put it mildly.
702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hi on: June 02, 2016, 03:56:08 PM
Is bandwith an issue for mining ?
It could be only an issue, when someone else would solve a block in same time as you, but got faster connection than you so he would get prize coz he would submit new block faster than you.

Latency is a bad thing for miners so above is perfect example of this.  If your competing against others you really don't wan't to be fighting a bad ping/high latency.  This is why for example Bitcoin Pools have multiple servers in different locations.  They can help cut down latency by having a server for that pool close to you.

As far as amount of bandwith needed it is not really bad at all.  You don't need a huge amount of data for mining.
703  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to buy Bitcoin? Which Market PLlatform? on: June 02, 2016, 03:49:20 PM
Hi,

I wanted to try out Bitcoin and just play around a bit. So where is it save to buy it and keep it? Also, is https://de.cryptonator.com/api relyable or does anyone know a better API or Marketinfos? Or some nice analysis online tool?

Thanks Smiley

What county are you located in? With most regular exchanges some are legal and best in certain countries.  I would say there is not one that is best for entire world, it depends on location.

There are options like localbitcoins but you will pay higher.... and I like a good exchange better.  But if you let us know what country your in we chances are can give a much better idea of what exchanges are worth looking at for you.

On saving it look at good paper wallets, or hardware wallets.   Make sure good ideas for security when doing setting it up, as you want to make sure it's secure.  But for most cases don't store in exchange is good advice (there are exceptions like coinbase that has a insurance policy).
704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any ways for a bitcoin newbie to make $5 p/h? on: June 02, 2016, 03:46:29 PM
any work in which you are a master ? for example say signature BB coding, campaign managing, creative avatar making, writing, etc. there are many other works from which you can earn.
And much more than 5$ per hour. You will finish project for someone and will earn for example 100$.
Not stable income but if you work much you will earn more than 5$/h.

The fact is bitcoin is not a get rich scheme.   Even at 5 dollars a hour take that times 5 days and say 8 hours a day.  That would be 40 hours at 5 dollars a hour so 200 per week.  At 52 weeks per year were talking about   10,400 a year.

That is just very unrealistic unless you have a skill to sell, or money to invest.  Without a skill if you are looking at faucets and surveys you will end up no where close to that.
705  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PSU cables Y splitters are burning hot. Should I be concerned? on: June 02, 2016, 03:38:34 PM
Actually he needs to not mine at all.

He needs to read the forums for a week or two to learn some basic mining safety.

Dude  you are about a day or two away from melting out your gear. stop what you are doing.

Some of these threads honestly scare me.   Everyone needs to understand when it comes to cables all are not equal, there are some very cheap adapters out there not meant for mining.   I honestly don't think OP realized how it being so hot to the touch is bad.    It should have been unpluged right away, you are totally right about melting gear and it could be a lot worse depending on setup.

People need to learn to respect electricity.   You don't get second chances with it

Can old Antminers be re-engineered and designed to use these new 14nm chips by BW?
And do BITMAIN ever sell their chips?

It is unlikely that there will be a "re-engineered" design for older antminers to use BW's new chips.  And I don't think it will happen with Bitmain's new chip either.  They focus on selling a entire miner it's been quite a long time since we have seen a upgrade kit.   They could suprise us, but I doubt it.

Again they focus on selling full miners.  From their perspective I can understand some of their reasons for it.   I think sidehack managed to buy a few BM1384's for the compacs.  But he could not get them again so took chips from full miners (correct me if I remember story wrong).    But getting chips is not easy at this point from any company.
707  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned without warning on: June 02, 2016, 03:21:05 PM
the reason could also be I was someone else's account to appeal from my accoumt.
you are are just being toxic.
I did that bcoz it is my frnd ID which is blocked and he don't wanted to create 2nd account here. But Instead of helping you are messing this post.

This makes no sense when looking at picture, you are appealing user: Drakrmaster in deleted post.   But now you claim SktT1 is a friends account .... and you used it to appeal ban for  Drakrmaster.  It's just kinda farfetched.   As you sure appear to be claiming username as yours in deleted post.   krunox123 did a great job showing deleted posst.

The more you fight it and bring it up the better chance people give you negatives for entering giveaway twice.   My advice is set back and let the ban expire as chances of getting a sig spam ban reduced is very very slim.
708  Other / Meta / Re: Locked my account on: June 02, 2016, 03:02:20 PM
I messed up my password and locked my account.

I was changing my browser and had forgotten my password, and made too many attempts, and this resulted in my account being banned.

username:  binmon

Trying to get help in removing the ban.

Thank you

Is it true? I also have similar experienced , but my account don't not get banned. Because after trying approximately 8 attempts, I decided to use the recovery by email. Maybe you can contact moderator from your country or global moderator. thank you

OP's account is not banned it is locked due to security.   It happens if you use secret question to reset password, account is locked:
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question

A moderator will not be able to unlock needs to be an Admin.  He needs to find message with a BTC address he can sign with as mentioned before.
709  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: June 02, 2016, 04:34:29 AM
once again bot is not resetting properly

It did reset on time. Any payments so far?

I just noticed the posts reset to zero, but do not see a payment for this period.

This has been the case for the last few payment rounds. Marco makes payments about 3 days after the bot resets.

Marco is doing a good getting resets out on time, so thanks Marco on that!   This makes it where we don't have periods for more then 7 day's which is nice.   I am fine if we keep resetting on time perfect and payment comes a few day's after, works fine with me.
710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is my Computer is profitable in mini??ng on: June 02, 2016, 03:49:07 AM
quick specs:

i7 2.4ghz proci
16gb ram
4gb amd radeon gpu

Dude you far behind. First was CPU, then GPU now asic and more. Asic are hundreds of times faster then CPUs even the the first ones were at least x5 more powerful then the fasterest CPUs and that fast become x25 and more ! Now asics are thousands of times faster then CPUs and farms link huge rows of these monsters next to one another row after row. So you really have no chance. So you see how it works ? You just arrived at the drag stripe with a push cart whilst your opponent has a souped up mustang that snorts fire and bellows smoke from its tires.

With ethereum GPU mining has come back.  So we can no longer say no GPU mining.  CPU I would agree is gone at this point. It is really the only coin out there currently worth it to mine with GPU, but it is profitable at pretty high electricity prices even.  Difficulty is growing pretty decent lately though.  So if you buy multiple cards... if you ROI without selling at end is hard to say.  Also new GPU's come out pushing down prices of older stuff.

But his one radeon GPU might be worth running ethereum for fun.   Depends on what card if it is able to handle it/worth it.
711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: June 02, 2016, 03:44:35 AM
What do you guys think about faucets. Good source or scam alert?

Why would say faucets are scam alerts? You don't have to invest on faucets, but they will give you some satoshis, by just visiting their site and putting
your wallet address on them. Of course, for a newbie they are good source.
And if you are a faucet owner and you have so many advertisers definitely it would be very good source.

The goal of a faucet is pay you very little, so less then whatever faucet owner makes off ad's on site.  Most are not "scams" in that sense as if they don't pay out they lose traffic quick.   But yes it is possible you go and they don't payout but most don't do this.

On to are they a good source of Bitcoins? Heck no you will spend hours earning cents.  It honestly is sad if you do the numbers you just are not going to get a substantial amount.   It honestly will be dust in most wallets.  But some do spend time at them... I would not recommend it to anyone personally unless they are wanting dust to play with.
712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: INVEST BITCOIN!!! on: June 02, 2016, 03:41:16 AM
I suggest you colud mining sites.for example hashnest is the best. But pleaee dont invest too much

Lol, don't invest too much? Better to invest nothing there. Cloud mining isn't profitable, I think it never was. This thing just exists to make crypto-currency world's newbies lose their money when they start using BTCs believing this is a magical world where you make lots of money without any effort.

yes cloud mining is currently not profitable, especially if you are investing a small amount. and also after halving likely to be more difficult to benefit from mining.

Also be very careful when investing in cloud mining, sadly many that push for investors on here are scams.  It just is to easy to fake that they have equipment and in the end you have less coins then you started with.   Luckily they have stopped pushing as much it seems it was pretty bad at one point.

If you do go cloud mining I highly suggest going straight to hashnest which is with Bitmain.  They are as legit as it gets, but mining is not a sure bet know that going into it.
713  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Mining with a Six-Figure Budget on: June 02, 2016, 03:34:04 AM
Hi,

I want to build a mining operation in a low-electricity country. I have USD 200,000 ready to invest.

What are some good machines to use? Is it worth the money today?

How much ROI can I get monthly approximately?

Thanks

If you have to come here to pose such questions, I don't believe you to be serious.
Look here and check to see if these latest miners are profitable now.  Then read this to see how other companies are faring.  After that, check out this bitcoin halving clock to find out when the amount you will mine gets cut in half.  Maybe you can cut a deal with the KNC bankruptcy trustee to buy their miners cheaply and have them shipped to you but I would be careful, once they begin selling miners again, they will probably fill their datorhall first (since old habits die hard) and then ship to you... it could be 6 months and many excuses later before you receive them.

Most of these are not serious  I mentioned this in a previous one in Mining board.   It tends to be people that think mining is a get rich quick scheme (which it is not) and come with a number very high for them thinking it means more profit.    They do the ROI and find out it is not get rich quick... and tend to leave thread.  If he posts electricity price we can give a idea if chance of ROI, but never invest more then you can lose.

I highly suggest OP starting off slow or anyone for that matter.  To jump in with 200k worth of gear from 0 would be crazy. If he is serious about starting mining I would suggest finding a place (hopefully he can start at home or place he already has access to).   And get a miner or two to learn with.

And no offense was meant OP.  Its just when you ask some of the questions you did it is not in line with someone ready to invest 200k, or even 20k.

Thank you so much, now I understand.

The only remaining piece of the puzzle to me is how do i do that if i can't logon to check for such message?  sorry to be so thick.

Normally you know if you have posted a post with a BTC address.  If you know you have you can go through your posts here and look for it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=220123;sa=showPosts;start=0

If you have not posted an address you can sign with... chances are your out of luck

Bitwisdom is heading up some:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    199,312,067,531
Estimated Next Difficulty:    198,367,788,490 (-0.47%)
Adjust time:    After 892 Blocks, About 6.4 days
Hashrate(?):    1,373,429,219 GH/s

Value wise coinbase is around 534, so still holding in 530's which is nice to see.  I keep hoping we see another surge in price.  It sure is fun to watch when it does happen.

You are missing so much.   You need to know your electricity cost, your equipment (cooling, psu's, etc).   Each can very depending on location and that brings up cost of location.  But unless you are hosting somewhere you have a lot to figure out.  And giving you ROI months out.... no one can tell you accurately especially missing so much info.

It's going to be highly tied to electricity price.  But most will be looking at S9 that are buying new gear due to specs.
717  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Really Profiting? on: June 02, 2016, 12:22:55 AM
... mining isn't the place to be as a layman.  Leave this to industry.  It's better to get a normal job and buy bitcoins as an investment.
mmm ... Objection! Industry means corporates and corporates ruin every single thing. Although bitcoin is an exceptional die hard innovative phenomenon it can not resist against ruining instincts of centralized, blind giants. We better to remain in the game and seek for ways to make mining more profitable and more popular. AND stop saying : "buy bitcoins as an investment" a monopolized bitcoin mining 'industry' leaves no future for bitcoin as an investment. I think this paradox is to be resolved and it will be eventually (I hope/try for it) but for the time being better not to leave the scene.

Industrial mining is mean to be cost effective mining - farms mine with cheap electricity most home miners dont have (unless you have some free electricity).

With GPUs industrial mining might be harder as I sometimes need to restart computer when it freeze while mining with GPU, but maybe there is solution to this problem.

The solution is either software monitoring PC's and hashrates.  Or some pools you could use names to indicate PC's.   With ether I really have not had to much freezing, if you are chances are something is wrong with your setup.

And I'm not saying these GPU mines will become as big as industry as BTC mining asics.  But I still think there are some commercial mines happening, looking at Ether I don't think the difficulty is all hobby farmers.  But then again that is speculation on my part.
718  Other / Meta / Re: My account banned , need help! on: June 02, 2016, 12:14:40 AM
I have used only my account MEDVEDja. I saw that 14 Messages has been removed, some of them were just jokes, others are very short (most of them in 2014). I do not argue with the fact that I deserve a ban. I have not used my account in the indicated period (7 days). Still got ban evasion, by the fact that my father and brothers continue used their accounts. As a result, they too received the ban for an indefinite period and they are not able to use their accounts. What did they do wrong? Why they can not use their accounts? Where is the circumvention of the ban from my side? I really hope to get an answer as we all get out of this situation.

Regards Mikhail.

I highly doubt you get them unbanned.  You have to look at it from admin side if they let people say "It's my (insert family here) account" all account farmers would be able to get unbanned.   You had some crap posts and ban evaded it would appear since from same IP and honestly accounts have some in common.

Your 3,4 account have same registration day.  Add to that the fact the accounts 2-4 posted only in altcoin, and russian local.  They just share a awful lot in common.  They seem to be accounts that are being farmed to gain activity.

If you story is true it is going to be hard to prove I think.  You would have to convince an admin of it, and I think chances are very small as all account farmers would say this if it works.

Still waiting for months to go by quickly....   Wink

Can't figure out where i might have a signed message, so it may not matter....

I would let it go and only pump every week or so.  You are not looking for a signed message but a  post where you post a BTC address you posted that you can sign with now to prove account ownership.

So look for if any of you posts have a BTC address posted.   Here is a good topic on signing a message - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

I suggest you to go to services and look for captcha work, can i ask you why they removed you?

Just click the link on thread above yours, there is a entire thread that talks about it.  It appears to be becuse he was doing crap posts - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=727696;sa=showPosts

You will see what I call one liners.  But if you do a bunch of one liners and crap posts that don't help most signature campaigns will remove you.  They don't want to pay for spam like posts.
