701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Know when to stop a HODL/HOLD on: September 05, 2018, 09:11:34 AM
Yep, so many horror stories of people hodling absolute trash coins until they reach approximately $0 value. People need to understand that the hodl mentality really only works for the very strongest of coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and perhaps EOS, Cardano and a select few others. Not every trash coins is going to grow to insane height, so if something dumps beyond the point of recovery (e.g. 1/10th) value, then exit your position and cut your losses.

703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes an altcoin valueable? on: September 05, 2018, 09:07:45 AM
I think that genuine utility makes a coin valuable. A lot of tokens and coins offer something I call pseudo-utility, in which they promise a lot in the future, but currently have no real utility to speak of. A lot of ICOs and altcoins offer tokens that solve such a niche problem, it's hard to imagine much of an overlap between it and blockchain users. Of course, this can always change with increased adoption, but as of yet the true utility of most blockchains is low.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoins are you investing in? on: September 05, 2018, 09:00:29 AM
Personally, I'm investing into Loom and Enjin, I think that blockchain based gaming platforms are definitely something that's going to take off in the near future, just how mobile gaming took off around 2010. The potential of non-fungible tokens for collectible and transferrable digital game assets is definitely something that can be immense value to the industry, and spin off into something new entirely.

I pay attention and I am very interested in this project, but I want to know when the prize launch will begin. Maybe I will consider and will join this project.

The debate challenge is already ongoing, you can take part in the thread below;

Good luck!
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto pattern over the year on: September 03, 2018, 09:34:47 PM
Lending will probably make a resurgence soon when there is a suitable way of handling collateral. A lot of people think it is pointless to hand over altcoin collateral worth more than their loan. This is compounded when they also want to retain their anonymity, as it makes it very difficult to gauge their credit or trust level. Definitely want to see something that resolves this in future though, as I'd be looking to invest.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Panic selling! Yes or No? on: September 03, 2018, 09:24:20 PM
It's very simple. If you're supporting a terrible project, and you have just realized, exit your position quick before it tanks. If you're supporting a genuinely high potential profit that's just taking a beating, then it may be worth holding your position until the market has recovered. You will need to weigh it against the possibility that other coins may be rising faster, and can hence get you your money back quicker.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think ICO investors are Decreasing? on: September 03, 2018, 09:19:48 PM
Right now the ICO investment market is just terrible, very few people want to invest in ICOs because the know that the moment they hit an exchange (if trash exchange) then the price will just plummet below ICO value, so what's the point of investing? Until the bad projects are weeded out, ICOs are going to continue to struggle for quite a while.
709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto advice for newbie on: September 03, 2018, 09:10:20 PM
My advice would be to watch the markets very carefully before you invest, study a small handful of coins and learn how they tend to respond in certain market scenarios, so that when you see that scenario again you can react efficiently. This means you delay investing until you adequately understand the market, as this will put you in a better position to survive this bearish trend.
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What new feature could potentially make bitcoin more valuable? on: September 03, 2018, 09:02:52 PM
I would like to see some side chain functionality added, allowing Bitcoin to interact with smart contracts, or engage in atomic swaps with other cryptocurrencies. Right now, Bitcoin is a pure cryptocurrency, but I think it should open itself up to possibly expanding on this functionality, to compete with platform coins such as Ethereum and EOS. I think platforms will be more widespread than pure currencies most likely.

Remember to post a new report every week, and do not quote your previous reports as this only slows us down when counting stakes.
712  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How good of a business is the "Crypto Casino" business? on: September 03, 2018, 03:31:05 PM
Well the fact there are so many of them is evidence enough that they succeed. However, right now there are just a few big players that are pretty much running the game right now, such as Nitrogen Sports, Lucky Games, Stake etc. Unless you have really deep pockets, it’s not likely you will be able to achieve the same scale as these guys.
713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just got a little extra money and want to invest in crypto, should I? on: September 03, 2018, 03:27:05 PM
If you only have a small amount of money I wouldn’t recommend investing into cryptocurrency, right now the market is so volatile odds are you will lose a good part of your money very quickly, and small amounts can’t really grow into life changing amounts in these current market conditions. The best thing to do is invest in more traditional routes for now, buy and resell, get a job and earn a salary. Once you’ve got enough saved that you have excess capital, then you can start playing around with crypto.
714  Economy / Speculation / Re: what could cause bitcoin prices to go up and down? on: September 03, 2018, 03:08:28 PM
Right now there appears to be rampant price manipulation on bitfenix, the BTC price is often over $100 higher than other sites like Binance or Poloniex, causing all short positions to be liquidated and forcibly moving the average price higher. I think that there are definitely some whale movements getting involved nowadays fucking things up.
715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto can be less volatile than gold? on: September 03, 2018, 03:05:19 PM
Right now it's definitely much more volatile than gold, it's not even a close comparison. Personally, I think that is the reason why people actually invest in cryptocurrency, they don't want to invest in something that only gains a few percentage points points as in comparison to BTC the gains are just terrible.

Glad to see such a great response from the community.

If you have received a warning message on the spreadsheet, this means that you have done something wrong, so read the notes to find out what to do next.

Remember that you absolutely must join https://t.me/CafeCoin_ICO and https://t.me/bountycloud to participate. If you are not in these two groups by the end of the bounty your stakes will be removed.

Don't forget to check out the TAU debate guys, you've got the possibility of winning 1 MILLION TAU and $1,000 in BTC! There hasn't been too many entries yet, so there's still a great chance to win!

720  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 02, 2018, 09:01:11 PM
Definitely good to see a new(ish) member receiving some attention. Right now, the great majority of merits are sent to users of high rank, when in reality it serves very little purpose in doing so. In reality, merits have dual functionality;

1. They allow members to 'thank' or applaud others for a job well done, usually a high-quality post, community service or research work.
2. They also allow lower level users to rank up, again rewarding them for contributing value to the forum by giving value back.

Sending merits to any user above legendary leads to incomplete utility, as it only fulfills the first function. Personally, I try to send the majority of my merits to users below senior member who I think should have more influence here on the forum.
